Abstract Models of quantum gravity imply a modification of the canonical position-momentum commutation relations. In this manuscript, working with a binary mechanical system, we examine the effect of quantum gravity on the exceptional points of the system. On the one side, we find that the exceedingly weak effect of quantum gravity can be sensed via pushing the system towards a second-order exceptional point, where the spectra of the non-Hermitian system exhibits non-analytic and even discontinuous behavior. On the other side, the gravity perturbation will affect the sensitivity of the system to deposition mass. In order to further enhance the sensitivity of the system to quantum gravity, we extend the system to the other one which has a third-order exceptional point. Our work provides a feasible way to use exceptional points as a new tool to explore the effect of quantum gravity.

Tensor models are generalization of matrix models, and are studied as models of quantum gravity. It is shown that the symmetry of the rank-three tensor models is generated by a hierarchy of n-ary algebras starting from the usual commutator, and the 3-ary algebra symmetry reported in the previous paper is just a single sector of the whole structure. The condition for the Leibnitz rules of the n-ary algebras is discussed from the perspective of the invariance of the underlying algebra under the n-ary transformations. It is shown that the n-ary transformations which keep the underlying algebraic structure invariant form closed finite n-ary Lie subalgebras. It is also shown that, in physical settings, the 3-ary transformation practically generates only local infinitesimal symmetry transformations, and the other more nonlocal infinitesimal symmetry transformations of the tensor models are generated by higher n-ary transformations.

We study theoretical models of three coupled wave guides with a <em>PT</em>-symmetric distribution of gain and loss. A realistic matrix model is developed in terms of a three-mode expansion. By comparing with a previously postulated matrix model it is shown how parameter ranges with good prospects of finding a third-order exceptional point (EP3) in an experimentally feasible arrangement of semiconductors can be determined. In addition it is demonstrated that continuous distributions of exceptional points, which render the discovery of the EP3 difficult, are not only a feature of extended wave guides but appear also in an idealised model of infinitely thin guides shaped by delta functions.

NFP is the predicative fragment of NF. In this system we do not allow a set to exist if it cannot be defined without using quantifiers ranging over its type or parameters of a higher type. NFI is a less restrictive fragment located between NFP and NF.We show that NFP is really weaker than NFI; similarly, NFI is weaker than NF. This result will be obtained in the following manner: on the one hand, we will show that NFP can be proved consistent in elementary arithmetic and that second order arithmetic is interpretable in NFI; on the other hand, we will prove the consistency of NFI in third order arithmetic, which is contained in NF.The paper is divided in four sections. In §1, we define the concepts needed and collect a few results together in such a way that they will be ready for later use. In §2, we will present a model-theoretic (quick) proof of the consistency of NFI (and thus of NFP). The proof will be chosen (it is not the quickest!) so as to motivate in a natural manner the details of the proof-theoretical version of it that will be presented in §3. §4 will be devoted to the axiom of infinity in NFP and NFI.

A calculation of the one loop gravitational self-energy graph in non-anticommutative quantum gravity reveals that graviton loops are damped by internal momentum dependent factors in the modified propagator and the vertex functions. The non-anticommutative quantum gravity perturbation theory is finite for matter-free gravity and for matter interactions.

In the following memoir I propose to make an attempt at an enumeration of the invariants, covariants, and contravariants of a quaternary cubic, that is to say, of a homogeneous function of the third order in four variables, which geometrically repre­sents a Surface of the third order. This memoir, then, will be in continuation of Mr. Cayley’s memoirs on Quantics, wherein a similar analysis is very completely performed for binary quantics as far as the fifth order, and for ternary quantics as far as the third order. In consequence of the great length of the formulæ when the general equation is used, I work with Mr. Sylvester’s canonical form U = ax 3 + by 3 + cz 3 + du 3 + ev 3 , where the variables are connected by the relation x + y + z + u + v = 0. It will be found that the discussion of this form leads to some results resembling those obtained for binary quantics of the fifth order; the one quantic being canonically expressed as the sum of five third powers, the other as the sum of three fifth powers.

The first question to be answered, in seeking coordinate systems for geodynamics, is: what is geodynamics? The answer is, of course, that geodynamics is that part of geophysics which is concerned with movements of the Earth, as opposed to geostatics which is the physics of the stationary Earth. But as far as we know, there is no stationary Earth – epur sic monere. So geodynamics is actually coextensive with geophysics, and coordinate systems suitable for the one should be suitable for the other. At the present time, there are not many coordinate systems, if any, that can be identified with a static Earth. Certainly the only coordinate of aeronomic (atmospheric) interest is the height, and this is usually either as geodynamic height or as pressure. In oceanology, the most important coordinate is depth, and this, like heights in the atmosphere, is expressed as metric depth from mean sea level, as geodynamic depth, or as pressure. Only for the earth do we find “static” systems in use, ana even here there is real question as to whether the systems are dynamic or static. So it would seem that our answer to the question, of what kind, of coordinate systems are we seeking, must be that we are looking for the same systems as are used in geophysics, and these systems are dynamic in nature already – that is, their definition involvestime.

Abstract. Two experiments examined the influence of stories on recipients’ self-perceptions. Extending prior theory and research, our focus was on assimilation effects (i.e., changes in self-perception in line with a protagonist’s traits) as well as on contrast effects (i.e., changes in self-perception in contrast to a protagonist’s traits). In Experiment 1 ( N = 113), implicit and explicit conscientiousness were assessed after participants read a story about either a diligent or a negligent student. Moderation analyses showed that highly transported participants and participants with lower counterarguing scores assimilate the depicted traits of a story protagonist, as indicated by explicit, self-reported conscientiousness ratings. Participants, who were more critical toward a story (i.e., higher counterarguing) and with a lower degree of transportation, showed contrast effects. In Experiment 2 ( N = 103), we manipulated transportation and counterarguing, but we could not identify an effect on participants’ self-ascribed level of conscientiousness. A mini meta-analysis across both experiments revealed significant positive overall associations between transportation and counterarguing on the one hand and story-consistent self-reported conscientiousness on the other hand.

SummaryThe prognosis of patients with acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) has improved considerably by introduction of aggressive consolidation chemotherapy and haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (SCT). Nevertheless, only 20-30% of patients with AML achieve long-term diseasefree survival after SCT. The most common cause of treatment failure is relapse. Additionally, mortality rates are significantly increased by therapy-related causes such as toxicity of chemotherapy and complications of SCT. Including radioimmunotherapies in the treatment of AML and myelodyplastic syndrome (MDS) allows for the achievement of a pronounced antileukaemic effect for the reduction of relapse rates on the one hand. On the other hand, no increase of acute toxicity and later complications should be induced. These effects are important for the primary reduction of tumour cells as well as for the myeloablative conditioning before SCT.This paper provides a systematic and critical review of the currently used radionuclides and immunoconjugates for the treatment of AML and MDS and summarizes the literature on primary tumour cell reductive radioimmunotherapies on the one hand and conditioning radioimmunotherapies before SCT on the other hand.

In recent years, political and social conditions have changed dramatically. Many analyses help to capture these dynamics. However, they produce political pessimism: on the one hand there is the image of regression and on the other, a direct link is made between socio-economic decline and the rise of the far-right. To counter these aspects, this article argues that current political events are to be understood less as ‘regression’ but rather as a moment of movement and the return of deep political struggles. Referring to Jacques Ranciere’s political thought, the current conditions can be captured as the ‘end of post-democracy’. This approach changes the perspective on current social dynamics in a productive way. It allows for an emphasis on movement and the recognition of the windows of opportunity for emancipatory struggles.

Political ideological pluralism, religious diversity are characteristic features of modern Ukrainian society. On the one hand, multiculturalism, socio-political, religious differentiation of the latter appear as important characteristics of its democracy, as a practical expression of freedom, on the other - as a factor that led to the deconsocialization of society, gave rise to "nodal points" of tension, confrontational processes, in particular, in political and religious spheres.
