Coastal areas can either meet the human needs or give great contribution to the development. However, rapid infrastrural development in Sorong, west Papua, has been followed by high demand for mangrove timber and caused mangrove forest degradation due to exploitation. This exploitation could also result from high economic value of the mangrove timber. This study was done to analyze the economic value of mangrove wood utilized by the people to support the development process in Sorong. This study used primary data obtained through interviews and the economic value calculation of mangrove forests. It found that Sorong had mangrove economic value of IDR 165,197,833, 491.

Herlang Subdistrict is the largest producer of coconut juice (along with Selayar Regency and JenepontoRegency) which is the raw material for coconut sugar production in South Sulawesi. Tugondeng Village is one ofthe villages in Herlang District. About 80% of Tugondeng villagers work in the coconut sugar manufacturingindustry. However, this potential has not well developed due to the low economic value of brown sugar. To increasethe selling price of coconut sugar produced by Tugondeng Village, efforts need to be made to process coconut sapand coconut sugar into products which have higher selling price, namely palm sugar. The steps taken to achieve theobjectives of this activity were : (a) presentation of material on how to process coconut sap and coconut sugar intopalm sugar; and (b) demonstration of preparing palm sugar from coconut sap and coconut sugar. The resultsobtained show that the process of making palm sugar from coconut sap and coconut sugar is quite simple and thepalm sugar produced has longer shelf-life than coconut sugar

The criticality of the Binanga Lumbua watershed is that it contributes to the decline in the income per capita of Jeneponto Regency. This is also one of the reasons why Jeneponto Regency is the only area in South Sulawesi Province that is included in the category of underdeveloped areas. Looking at the physical condition of this area which has a varied topography and fertile soil, this area should have potential economic value for the development of forestry, plantation crops, and food crop agriculture. The results of previous research were the identification of drought using a hydrological approach both qualitatively and quantitatively. Then, provide directions for spatial use based on drought prevention efforts. So that in this follow-up research, the goal to be achieved is to design a 'one river one plan concept' in the comprehensive arrangement of the Binanga Lumbua watershed to realize sustainable development. The analysis used is in the form of qualitative descriptive and spatial analysis. The result of this research is a mapping of the watershed planning concept in the form of a site plan

This research aimed to assess the degradation level of mangrove forest and to develop strategy to reduce the degradation level. The overall research duration was 1 year, focusing on identification of mangrove forests degradation level, exploration of mangrove vegetation structure and preparation for mangrove degradation reduction strategy. The research was located in Tabongo Village, Dulupi Sub-district, Boalemo District, Gorontalo Province. The method used in the research was explorative survey, while the data analysis was done with quantitative descriptive analysis. The collecting method used was point quarter centered meter (PQCM) method. The degradation level of mangrove forest was analyzed by standard criteria of mangrove destruction according to Ministerial Decree of State Minister for The Environment (Kepmen. LH) No. 201 in 2004. Results showed that there are 4 species of mangrove plants in Tabongo Village, Dulupi Sub-district namely Rhizophora apiculata Blume, Rhizophora mucronata Lamk., Ceriops tagal (Perr) C.B.Rob, and Bruguiera which included in the Rhizophoraceae family. Rhizophora apiculata had the highest IVI value at the stage of tree and sapling, while Rhizophora mucronata Lamk had the highest IVI value at the stage of seedling. Tabongo mangrove area was a Scrub or dwarf forest type generally. This type was classified as a typical mangrove found in low edges. The mangrove condition in the coastal area of Tabongo Village, Boalemo, was categorized as broken (TNS1 = 210). While based on Assessment of criticality level of mangrove land based on the way teristris, formula was categorized as not broken (TNS2= 330). The reduction strategy that could be implemented to recover the quality of mangrove areas include (i) the assessment of the importance of the mangrove areas with regard to their ecological and economic value, (ii) quality improvement of mangrove habitat, (iii) educational approach by making the mangrove areas as learning media and source, and (iv) empowerment of people living around the mangrove areas.

Palm trees have high economic potential because almost all parties can provide financial benefits. But of all palm products, the palm sap that comes from the male flower arm as an ingredient for the production of brown sugar is the greatest economic value. However, there are some people who prefer to cut palm trees for cultural purposes instead of properly handling them to be used as brown sugar. This research aims to analyze the carrying capacity and potential of palm trees in Lanne Village. The location of this investigation was carried out in Lanne Village, Tondong Tallasa District, Pangkajene and Kepulauan Regency, South Sulawesi Province. The location of the sugar palm administrators is in two villages, namely, Manjalling and Mariololo. The research method used is a qualitative research method that uses inventory, observation and interview techniques. The results obtained are that for now the people of Lanne do not comply with the capacity of sustainable cargo. The presence of sugar palm is now relatively minor. Therefore, to restore the glory of the sugar palm sugar population must be added
