Abstract Aquaculture has been known as one of solutions in dealing with food security problem through applying best practices of aquaculture and increasing fish production. In many countries, fish production is considered an essential activity contributing to household income and trade. However, fish feed has an expensive price, and it constitutes 60-70% total cost of production. The objective of this study is to reveal an alternative cheap source for additional ingredients to fish diet formulation of Tilapia larvae (Oreochromis niloticus). 240 fish larvae from local hatchery were used and cultured in 4 aquariums with different dose of protein diet (30%, 35%, 40%, and control). The source of protein diet is Polychaeta Nereis sp which was collected from surrounding Kastela Sea. Nereis sp was processed into dry meal and was added into the feed formulation. The result shows that the useful of 40% protein of Nereis sp gives the highest growth and survival rate of tilapia larvae, which is 44,99 g and 100%. It is followed by 35% and 30% Nereis protein, respectively. It is interesting that protein control which is feed commercial has almost similar growth level as the highest one. Specific growth rate (SGR) is 3,74%-3,79% per day for different protein dose of Polychaeta. Survival rate is 100% for all treatments which means all fish can survive and growth continuously from beginning to the end of the study.

The effect of different inclusion levels of wonderful kola (Buchholzia coriacea) seed meal (BSM) on growth performance and survival rate of Oreochromis niloticus fry was investigated. Five days old mixed sex of O. niloticus (0.1– 0.2 g weight and 0.45 mm length) were subjected to powdered B. coriacea seeds meal (BSM) at 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 g/kg twice daily for 1 month from April-May, 2015. It was conducted in an indoor experimental plastic basin of capacity 50 cm in diameter and 30 cm deep. 60 fry per duplicates with a total of 720 fry, six isonitrogeneous treatments and 2 duplicates per each treatment. A complete randomized design and 30% Crude Protein were used. The highest mean length, mean weight, specific growth rate and weight gain observed are 0.488 mm, 4.68 g, 0.85 and 4.65 g respectively. The highest of survival rate (100%) was recorded in fish fed with 6 g/ kg BSM. Treatment 1 having 0% BSM (control) had the lowest weight gain. In conclusion, the addition of 4 g/ kg of BSM in a fish diet, has no negative effect on the growth performance and survival of O. niloticus.

Laju pertumbuhan dan tingkat reproduksi yang tinggi merupakan karakteristik unggul yang dimiliki ikan nila sebagai komoditi budidaya. Tingkat reproduksi yang tinggi menyebabkan terjadinya pematangan gonad sebelum mencapai ukuran produksi dimana hal tersebut dapat merugikan pembudidaya, karena saat ikan mengalami matang gonad energi hasil asimilasi pakan sebagain besar akan dialokasikan untuk perkembangan gonad dan menghambat pertumbuhan somatik. Pemanfaatan senyawa aktif dari bahan alami biji pepaya dapat menjadi solusi untuk meningkatkan pertumbuhan ikan yang dibudidayakan sekaligus menjaga keamanan pangan dan konsumen. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pemanfaatan tepung biji pepaya terhadap respons pertumbuhan dan tingkat kelangsungan hidup ikan nila. Ikan nila diberi perlakuan dengan lima dosis tepung biji pepaya berbeda (0, 1, 3, 5 dan 7 g/kg pakan) secara oral berdasarkan feeding rate 5% dengan tiga ulangan selama 30 hari pemeliharaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan dosis 5 g/kg meningkatkan pertumbuhan bobot tubuh tertinggi sebesar 547 g dibandingkan kontrol sebesar 406 g. Sejalan dengan pertumbuhan bobot tubuh, dosis 5 g/kg menghasilkan tingkat kelangsungan hidup ikan nila sebesar 100% dibandingkan kontrol sebesar 66%. Dari hasil yang diperoleh dapat disimpulkan bahwa tepung biji pepaya dengan dosis 5 g/kg pakan dapat meningkatkan pertumbuhan dan tingkat kelangsungan hidup ikan nila selama 30 hariHigh growth rate and high reproductive cycle are some economical triats on nile tilapia. This is a setback for nile tilapia culture because when the fish reach gonad maturity before reach market size, all the energy demand will flow to reproduction and can cause stunt growth. The utilization of natural compound from papaya seeds can be a solution to enhance growth of farmed nile tilapia and for consumer and food safety. This research aim to know how papaya seed powder can enhance growth and survival rate of nile tilapia. This research conducted into five groups of 5 papaya seeds powder dosage (0, 1, 3, 5 and 7 g/kg) that feed orally to the treatment fishes. Result showed the fishes feed with 5 g/kg papaya seed experienced highest growth performance 547 g compare to control which is 406 g. Same as growth performance, survival rate shown that group feed with 5 g/kg papaya seed had 100% survival rate compare with control which is 66% during treatment periods. Base on this result, we can make conclusion that fish feed with 5 g/kg of papaya seed have a better growth performance and survival rate compare with control group for 30 days treatment periods

AbstractThe feed as a source of energy for the growth of fish is a component of the most important costs 40-89% and the quality should be good. The solution is through research. Research in the form of meal cassava leaves (Monihot utilissima) parents as a source of alternative protein substitute for fish meal in feed formulation catfish (Clarias gariepinus). The design used Complete Random Design with 4 treatments and 3 repetitions. The results showed that for the growth and the survival between treatments were not significant (P <0.5), meaning that all treatments were no differences can be categorized and feed ingredients of flour cassava leaves can replace most of the presence of meal fish  in fish feed formulas African catfish. Growth of the best catfish are on treatment A (55% meal cassava leaf: 00% fish meal) with daily growth of 8.27 grams was 2.61% and the B (40%% meal cassava leaves: 15% meal fish) 5.28 gram with daily growth is 1.86%, followed by C (15%%  meal cassava leaves: 15% meal fish ) 1:51% and D (0% meal cassava leaves : 55% meal fish ) 1:33%. Catfish survival rate was not significant (P <0.5), and relatively equally well A (96.17%), B (94.77) and C (95.92) and the best in treatment for D (96.37 ). Solusinya melalui penelitian. Penelitian berupa tepung daun  singkong (Monihot utilissima) tua sebagai sumber protein alternatif penganti tepung ikan dalam formulasi pakan ikan lele (Clarias gariepinus). Rancangan digunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap dengan 4 perlakuan dan 3 kali ulangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa untuk pertumbuhan dan kelulusan hidup antar perlakuan tidak signifikan (P < 0,5), artinya semua perlakuan  tidak ada perbedaan dan dapat dikatagorikan bahan pakan dari tepung daun singkong dapat mengantikan sebagian keberadaan tepung ikan dalam formula pakan ikan lele dumbo. Pertumbuhan ikan lele terbaik terdapat pada perlakuan A (55% tepung daun singkong : 00% tepung ikan) 8,27 gram dengan pertumbuhan harian adalah 2.61% dan  pada B (40%  % tepung daun singkong : 15% tepung ikan) 5,28 gram dengan pertumbuhan harian adalah 1.86%, diikuti C (15% % tepung daun singkong :15% tepung ikan) 1.51% dan D (0 % tepung daun singkong : 55% tepung ikan) 1.33%. Tingkat kelangsungan hidup ikan lele tidak signifikan (P < 0,5), dan  relatif sama baiknya A (96,17%), B (94,77) dan C (95,92) dan terbaik pada perlakuan untuk D (96,37). Sebagai pengguna disarankan memakai formulasi pada perlakuan B (40% Tepung ikan dan 15% tepung daun singkong tua). Kata kunci: Ikan lele, Pakan, Tepung ikan, Tepung  Daun Singkong Tua

Abstract Fish bone is a solid waste that usually found in traditional fish markets of Ternate. The bone fraction contains high minerals such as calcium, phosphorus, and collagen proteins which are important for fish growth. Tuna fish bone waste was processed into dry fish feed and mixed into feed formulation of Tilapia. Four different dose of tuna fish bone powder were applied namely 0%, 1%, 3%, and 5% as mentioned treatment A, B, C, and D. Fish diet were given to Tilapia juvenile for 42 days. Results show that the body weight and specific growth rate are highest in fish which given 3% dose of tuna fish bone than other treatments. It reaches 38.66 g and 9.617% BW/day. The lowest FCR is 1.34 in treatment C and the survival rate is not significantly different among treatments (p>0.05).

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh ketinggian air yang berbeda terhadap pertumbuhan dan kelangsungan hidup larva ikan botia (Chromobotia macracanthus, Bleeker). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sintasan atau kelangsungan hidup tertinggi terdapat pada perlakuan B dengan ketinggian air 10 cm yaitu sebesar 98.88%, sedangkan kelangsungan hidup terendah terdapat pada perlakuan A dengan ketinggian air 5 cm yaitu sebesar 97.99%. Pertambahan bobot nilai tertinggi terjadi pada perlakuan A dengan ketinggian air 5 cm dengan nilai bobot rata–rata 0.02252 gr dan pertambahan bobot rata–rata terendah terjadi pada perlakuan C dengan ketinggian air 15 cm yaitu sebesar 0.01132 gr. Pertambahan panjang rata–rata tertinggi terjadi pada perlakuan A yaitu sebesar 0.42 cm dan yang terendah terjadi pada perlakuan B yaitu sebesar 0.29 cm. Parameter kualitas air selama penelitian masih dalam kisaran optimal dimana suhu 24,3–28,9oC, pH 6,5–7,0, DO 6,84–7,69 ppm, NH3 0,00–0,03 ppm, NO2 0,00–0,07 ppm. Analisis statistik dengan uji F diperoleh bahwa ketinggian air yang berbeda dalam pemeliharaan larva ikan botia (C. macracanthus, Bleeker) berbeda sangat nyata (P>0.01) terhadap pertambahan bobot dengan nilai Fhitung (21.00) > Ftabel (10.92), dan berbeda sangat nyata terhadap pertambahan panjang dengan nilai Fhitung (23.56) > Ftabel (10.92), sedangkan untuk sintasan atau kelangsungan hidup tidak berbeda nyata antar perlakuan. Hasil uji BNT menunjukkan, setiap perlakuan memberikan pengaruh terhadap pertumbuhan dan tidak berpengaruh terhadap kelangsungan hidup.The study aims to determine the effect of different water levels on the growth and survival of fish larvae Botia (Chromobotia macracanthus, Bleeker). The results showed that the survival rate was highest in treatment B with the water level was 10 cm which was equal to 98.88 %, whereas the lowest survival rate was found in treatment A with the water level was 5 cm which was equal to 97.99 %. The highest value of weight gain occurred in treatment A with average value in weight was 0.02252 g and the average weight gain was lowest in the treatment of C that reached 0.01132 g. The highest growth of length was occured in treatment A that was equal to 0.42 cm and the lowest occurred in treatment B that was 0.29 cm. Water quality parameters during the study were in the tolerance range where the optimum temperature were 24,3-28,9 oC , pH 6.5 to 7.0, DO 6.84 to 7.69 ppm, NH3 0.00 to 0.03 ppm , NO2 0.00 to 0.07 ppm . Statistical analysis by F test showed that the different water levels in the larval rearing of fish Botia (C. macracanthus, Bleeker) was significantly different ( P > 0.01) in the weight gain with the value of Fcount ( 21.00 ) > Ftable ( 10.92 ), and it was significantly different against the length with the value of F count ( 23:56 ) > F table ( 10.92), while for the survival rate showed has not significantly different between treatments. The LSD test showed that all the treatment were effected the growth rate, but not for survival rate.

<p>Larval of fighting fish (<em>Betta splendens</em> Regan) requires precise live foods for its growth and survival. In this experiment, fish larvae were fed on either <em>Paramecium + Artemia, Paramecium + Artemia + Tubifex, Paramecium + Moina, or Paramecium + Moina + Tubifex</em>. The fish were fed <em>Paramecium</em> from day-2 till day-7 after hatching. There after, the live food was changed according to the treatments till day-28.  Results showed that fish fed on Paramecium + Artemia significantly had the highest total length (12.63 mm) than other treatments (11.86 mm). Setelah itu, pemberian pakan alami diubah berdasarkan masing-masing perlakuan hingga hari ke-28.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ikan yang diberi pakan <em>Paramecium</em> + <em>Artemia</em> memiliki tubuh secara signifikan lebih panjang (12,63 mm) dibandingkan perlakuan lainnya (11,86 mm).  Sementara itu, kelangsungan hidup tidak dipengatuhi oleh perlakuan.</p> <p>Kata kunci: ikan betta, <em>Betta splendens</em>, <em>Paramecium, Moina, Artemia, Tubifex</em>, larva</p>

In this study, fish feed supplemented by probiotic, prebiotic and synbiotic were applied to enhance the immune response and survival rate of the fish against Streptococcus agalactiae infection. Treatments used in this study, were as follows: feed containing 1% (v/v) of probiotic (C), feed containing 2% (v/v) of prebiotic (D) and feed containing mixed of 1% (v/v) of probiotic + 2% (v/v) of prebiotic (E, defined as synbiotic). Control fish (both positive, A; and negative, B; treatments) were fed by fish feed without containing neither probiotic nor prebiotic. In this study, test fish used monosex (all male) red tilapia with the average of body weight of 13,43±2,97 gram. The fish were fed by supplemented feed within first 30 days pre injection. After that, the treated fish were challenged by 109 CFU/ml of S. agalactiae. Nile tilapia fed by synbiotic (treatment E) had higher immune response (haemoglobin, neutrofil, and phagocyte indices) than control, but were not significantly different than those of treatment C, and D. After challenged test by S. agalactiae, treatment C, D and E resulted significantly higher resistance than that of control. The survival rate of fish fed by supplemented feed containing probiotic (C), prebiotic (D) and synbiotic (E) were 76%, 76% and 80%, respectively; higher than than positive control (50%). The results showed that addition of probiotic, prebiotic and synbiotic in fish feed could increase immune response and survival rate against S. agalactiae.Keywords : tilapia, probiotic, prebiotic, synbiotic, Streptococcus agalactiae

ABSTRACTSynbiotics are a balanced combination of probiotics and prebiotics. Synbiotics indirectly influence the population of bacteria in the digestive tract and survival of the fish. The purpose of this research is to determine the affection of synbiotic addition to diet for population of intestinal bacteria, feed efficiency, survival rate and growth of tilapia. This research conducted on October-December 2016 at Laboratorium Budidaya Perairan, Departement of Aquaculture, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya. This research methode used Completly Randomize Design with six treatments and three replications. Tilapia feed treated with different dose of sweet potato extract prebiotics. P0 treatment by feeding (commercial pellets without probiotics and prebiotics), P1 treatment (5 ml probiotic + 2,5 ml prebiotic/kg pellets), P2 treatment (5 ml probiotic + 5,0 ml prebiotic/kg pellets), P3 treatment (5 ml probiotic + 7,5 ml prebiotic/kg pellets), P4 treatment (5 ml probiotic + 10 ml prebiotic/kg pellets) and P5 treatment (5 ml probiotic + 12,5 ml prebiotic/kg pellets). Parameters to be observed is population of intestinal bacteria, feed efficiency, growth and survival rate of tilapia. The highest value population of intestinal bacteria is P5 treatment with 4,17x104 cfu/ml. P3 treatment has the highest value of feed efficiency 50,19%, growth of length 1,92 cm, growth of weight 8,87 gram and survival rate 88,89%. Keywords: synbiotic, probiotic, prebiotic, feed.

<p align="center"><strong>ABSTRAK</strong></p><p>Budidaya ikan nila <em>(Oreochromis niloticus) </em>terus dikembangkan hingga saat ini. Berbagai teknologi dalam bidang perikanan telah diterapkan, salah satunya yaitu <em>sex reversal </em>dalam hal ini jantanisasi. Ikan nila jantan lebih cepat pertumbuhannya dari pada ikan nila betina sehingga dapat meningkatkan hasil produksi. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian tepung testis sapi dan dosis terbaik tepung testis sapi dalam pakan yang mengandung  rGH terhadap rasio jenis kelamin, pertumbuhan dan kelulushidupan ikan nila. Bahan uji yang digunakan adalah larva ikan nila dengan stadia larva yang berumur 7 hari setelah lepas kuning telur dan memiliki bobot rata-rata 0,07 gram/ekor. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimental dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap 4 perlakuan dan 3 kali ulangan. Perlakuan dalam penelitian ini yaitu dengan menambahkan tepung testis sapi dengan dosis pada perlakuan A (0%/kg pakan), perlakuan B (3%/kg pakan), perlakuan C (6%/kg pakan) dan, perlakuan D (9%/kg pakan). Pakan pada setiap perlakuan dalam penelitian ini telah ditambahkan rGH dengan dosis 2 mg/kg pakan. Data yang diamati meliputi rasio jenis kelamin, laju pertumbuhan spesifik (SGR), dan tingkat kelulushidupan (SR) ikan nila<em>.</em> Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa perlakuan C (6% tepung testis sapi/kg pakan) memberikan hasil terbaik dimana nilai rasio jenis kelamin jantan sebesar 74,44±5,09% dan laju pertumbuhan spesifik sebesar 9,48±0,10% bobot/hari. Kesimpulan yang diperoleh dalam penelitian ini yaitu adanya pengaruh nyata terhadap rasio jenis kelamin dan tingkat pertumbuhan spesifik, namun tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap tingkat kelulushidupan ikan nila dengan pemberian dosis tepung testis sapi terbaik adalah 6% tepung testis sapi/kg pakan.</p><p><strong>Kata kunci: </strong>Sex reversal; Tepung testis sapi;  Pertumbuhan, rGH; Nila<strong></strong></p><p align="center"><strong>ABSTRACT</strong></p><p><em>Tilapia fish (Oreochromis niloticus)cultivation still continue to be developed until nowdays. Many fisheries technology had been applied, and one of them is sex reversal which is masculinization. Male tilapia fish grows faster than the female one, so this can boost the produce of the fish. This research aims to know the effect of cow testicle flour addition and determine the best dosage on the fish feed which contains rGH towards the male-sex ratio, growth, and survival rate of tilapia fish. The material which used in this research was tilapia fish (O. niloticus) which under the larvae phase 7 days post the separated egg yolk which have average weight of 0,07 grams/each. This research used experimental methods with Completely Randomized Design of 4 treatments and 3 times of repetitions. The treatments in this research was addition of  different dosage of bull testicle which treatment A (0%/kg fish feed),treatment B (3%/kg fish feed), treatment C (6%/kg fish feed) and, treatment D (9%/kg fish feed). The fish feed in every treatment had been added with 2mg rGH/kg fish feed. Data observation  during this research were male-sex ratio, specific growth rate (SGR), and survival rate (SR) of tilapia fish. Results of the research showed that treatment C (6%/kg fish feed) gave the best result as male-sex ratio by 74,44±5,09% and specific growth rate by 9,48±0,10% weight/day.
