Abstract Sea buckthorn berries and products of their processing, including meal, have certain prospects in improving broiler meat production. The present paper contains materials on feeding broilers with sea buckthorn meal in the amount of 0.4-0.6% of the basic diet of chickens. Meal was added to the feed of broilers starting with Day 14 and up to Day 49 of age. The feed intake (basic diet), clinical condition of chickens, daily weight gains and preslaughter live weight were considered. The study was carried out by comparing to the group of chickens of the same age that received additional 0.4-0.6% feed instead of 0.4-0.6% of sea buckthorn meal. At the age of 49 day s all chickens were slaughtered for further study of meat characteristics comparing to meat of broilers of the control group. The use of sea buckthorn meal in feeds during 35 days in the amount of about 0.6% of the basic diet provided1 1% increase of daily weight gain of broilers compared to the control group and improved consumer as well as veterinary and sanitary meat characteristics.

The development of the poultry industry signifi cantly solves the problem of food for the population and is one of the important tasks of the any state. The use of modern technologies and the use of meat crosses with high productivity is the basis for effi cient production of broiler meat. The purpose of the work was the expediency and effi ciency of enriching compound feed with the plant feed additive Biostrong 510 to increase meat productivity and quality of broiler chickens. In order to study the feasibility and eff ectiveness of feeding the plant feed additive Biostrong 510 in compound feed for broiler chickens under the environments of LLC “Akashevskaya poultry Farm” in the Republic of Mari El, a scientifi c and economic experiment has been carried out. The object of research was broiler chickens of the Cobb 500 cross. Comprehensive studies have been conducted to study the eff ect of diff erent doses of the plant feed additive Biostrong 510 in the technology of feeding broiler chickens. The eff ect of the additive on meat productivity and quality of meat, morphological and biochemical parameters of blood of broiler chickens, and economic eff ectiveness has been studied. Recipes for compound feed with diff erent doses of the feed additive Biostrong 510 have been developed. The absolute gain in live weight in experimental broiler chickens for the accounting period of all experimental groups was greater in comparison with the control group and amounted to 2148,2; 2233,1; 2221,5 g, respectively, for the experimental groups, compared to 2058,5 g in the control group. It has been found that the use of the plant feed additive Biostrong 510 increases the economic eff ectiveness of broiler meat production. The best results have been obtained when this additive was added to the compound feed of broiler chickens of the 2nd experimental group in the amount of 150 g per 1 ton of compound feed.

The aim of the study was to evaluate the growth rate and selected carcass and meat quality parameters in bulls fed a high-grain diet and to compare the results with those obtained in bulls fed a diet based on preserved roughage. The trial included 18 Czech-Pied bulls fed a diet with a high proportion of concentrated feed and 18 Czech-Pied bulls fed a diet based on maize silage, used as a control group. The trial was launched after the weaning of calves. During the fattening period, live weight and average daily weight gain were monitored. The bulls were slaughtered at the live weight of 550–600 kg, the mean age at slaughter was 473 days for the high-grain diet group and 474 days for the control group. The carcasses were classified to SEUROP quality grades, and carcass gain and dressing percentage were calculated. Samples of <I>m. longissimus pars thoracis</I> were taken from five bulls in each group to examine selected meat quality parameters. In the period from weaning to slaughter the high-grain diet bulls and the control bulls achieved the average daily weight gain of 1.29 kg and 1.21 kg, respectively. Differences between the groups were not significant. The high-grain diet group showed higher average carcass weight and higher carcass weight gain, differences between the groups were not significant, either. As to meat quality parameters under study, a significant difference was found only in meat lightness (L*), with the mean value in the high-grain diet group being significantly (<I>P</I> ≤ 0.01) lower than in the control group. The other meat quality parameters did not show any significant differences between the groups. In this study, the high-grain diet gave similar performance as the maize silage-based diet in fattening bulls. The high-grain diet group and control group showed comparable average daily weight gain and selected carcass and meat quality parameters.

Poultry farmers who rely on commercial feeds sourced from the market always suffer some forms of financial loss due to sub-standard nature of such feeds. The normal practice is to formulate a balanced diet and compound the feeds with good quality ingredients. These conditions are not always within the control of the farmers who rely on buying finished feeds from the market. There is dearth of information on the quality of these common types of feedsin the market with the aim of recommending the best to the farmers. This study was therefore, carried out to examine the response of broilers to three commercial feeds at the starter and finisher phases. One hundred and eighty 1-day-old unsexed Marshal broilers at three replicates of twenty birds each were used for the study; and lasted for eight weeks. Feed and water were supplied ad libitum. The performance, carcass, haematological and biochemicalparameters of the experimental birds were measured. The three diets were tagged Diets 1, 2 and 3 each representing a treatment. The average final live weight (AFLW), daily weight gain (ADWG), daily feed intake (ADFI) and feed conversion ratio (FCR) were significantly (P < 0.05) influenced by the feed types (dietary treatments). The highest AFLW (758.37g/b) was obtained for broiler starters fed Diet 2 compared to 689.60g/b (Diet 1) and 263.37g/b (Diet3). The ADWG followed the same trend with birds fed Diet 2 having the highest value (25.67g/b) compared with 23.22g/b (Diet 1) and 8.00g/b (Diet 3). The ADFI (starters) were 72.88, 80.36 and 62.20g/b respectively for birds fed Diets 1, 2 and 3. The corresponding ADFI (g/b/d) for the finishers were 133.63 (Diet 1), 177.53 (Diet 2) and 58.57 (Diet 3); and ADWG (g/b/d) 42.49 (Diet 1), 51.79 (Diet 2) and 8.57 (Diet 3). Diet 2 gave the best performance in terms of weight gain, followed by Diet 1 and Diet 3 in that order for the finishers. However, the average cost per kg weight gain of the birds for the 2 phases were ? 307.88 (Diet 1), ? 309.29 (Diet 2), and ? 582.74 (Diet 3). All the carcass (live weight, bled weight, plucked weight, eviscerated weight, dressed weight and abdominal fat); and internal organs such as heart, lung, liver, kidney, pancreas, intestine and proventriculus were significantly (P < 0.05) affected by dietary treatments. The RBC, Hb, Basophils, total protein, albumin and globulin differed significantly (P < 0.05) across the diets. It can be concluded that birds fed Diet 1 gavethe best overall economic, carcass, haematology and serological performance. Commercial Diet (feed) 1 is therefore recommended for broiler farmers.

An experiment was conducted to evaluate efficacy of Lacto acidophilus on the growth performance, carcass characteristics and nutrient digestibility of broiler chickens. Two hundred and twenty five (225), one day old chicks were purchased from local commercial hatchery and were randomly divided into 5 groups and each group had 3 replicates of 17 chicks in a completely randomized design. Five iso-caloric and iso-nitrogenous (ME 2998kcal/ kg and CP 23.21%) broiler starter and finisher (ME 2990 kcal/ kg and CP 20.33%) experimental diets containing 0, 150, 200 and 250g Lacto acidophilus® for T1-T4 respectively and T5 containing Oxytetracycline were formulated. Broiler starter and finisher diets were fed from 0-3 and 4-7 weeks, respectively. Data obtained were subjected to analysis of variance using Statistical Analysis System and significant differences between treatments means were separated using Duncan Multiple Range Test. There were significant (P<0.05) difference in final weight, weight gain, average daily weight gain (ADWG), total feed intake (TFI), average daily feed intake (ADFI), feed conversion ratio (FCR) and feed cost/kg gain across the treatment groups. It was observed that chickens fed dietary Oxytet (oxytetracycline) had the best results in terms of the final body weight, weight gain and ADWG but similar to those fed 150 and 200g Lacto acidophilus® addition levels. The percentage dry matter (DM), crude protein (CP), crude fibre (CF), ether extracts (EE) and ash retention increased with increase in Lacto acidophilus® inclusion with exception for 250gLacto acidophilus® inclusion (CP, CF, EE). However, it was observed that chickens fed dietary levels of Lacto acidophilus® had the best live weight, dressed weight and dressing percentage compared to the control group. It was concluded that chickens fe Lacto acidophilus® inclusion may as well compete favorably with antibiotics growth promoter fed chickens.     Une expérience a été menée pour évaluer l'efficacité de Lacto acidophilus sur la performance de croissance, les caractéristiques de la carcasse et la digestibilité nutritive des poulets de gril. Deux cent vingt-cinq (225), poussins d'un jour ont été achetés à l'écloserie commerciale locale et ont été répartis au hasard en 5 groupes et chaque groupe avait 3 répliques de 17 poussins dans une conception complètement randomisée. Cinq iso- caloriques et iso-azotés (le 'ME' 2998kcal/kg et le 'CP' 23.21%) démarreur et finisseur de poulet de gril (le 'ME' 2990 kcal/kg et le 'CP' 20.33%) des régimes expérimentaux contenant respectivement 0, 150, 200 et 250 g d'acidophilus lacto® pour le T1-T4 et le T5 contenant de l'Oxytetracycline ont été formulés. Les régimes d'entrée et de finisseur de poulet de gril ont été alimentés de 0-3 et 4-7 semaines, respectivement. Les données obtenues ont fait l'objet d'une analyse de la variance à l'aide du système d'analyse statistique et des différences significatives entre les moyens de traitement et ils ont été séparées à l'aide du test à distance multiple Duncan. Il y avait une différence significative (P<0,05) dans le poids final, le gain de poids, le gain de poids quotidien moyen (le 'ADWG'), la consommation totale d'aliments pour animaux (le 'TFI'), l'apport quotidien moyen en aliments pour animaux (ADFI), le ratio de conversion des aliments pour animaux (FCR) et le gain coût/kg des aliments pour animaux dans les groupes de traitement. On a observé que les poulets nourris oxytet alimentaire (oxytetracycline) ont eu les meilleurs résultats en termes de poids corporel final, gain de poids et de 'ADWG', mais similaire à ceux nourris 150 et 200g Lacto acidophilus® niveaux d'addition. Le pourcentage de matière sèche (le 'DM'), de protéines brutes (le 'CP'), de fibres brutes (le 'CF'), d'extraits d'éther (le 'EE') et de rétention de cendres a augmenté avec l'augmentation de lacto acidophilus® l'inclusion à l'exception de 250 glacto acidophilus® inclusion (CP, CF, EE). Cependant, il a été observé que les poulets nourris à des niveaux alimentaires de Lacto acidophilus® avaient le meilleur poids réel, le poids habillé et le pourcentage de vinaigrette par rapport au groupe témoin. Il a été conclu que les poulets feLacto acidophilus® inclusion peut aussi bien rivaliser favorablement avec les antibiotiques promoteur de croissance nourris poulets.

The studies were conducted in growing quail meat production at the age of 1–35 days in the research laboratory of feed additives National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine. The research goal was to establish effective levels of additional introduction of Selenium in fodder for growing quail by comparing them to some zoo–technical indicators. Five groups of 100 quails were formed.  The quails of the Control Group were fed a standard diet without the inclusion of additional Selenium. The quails of the trial groups received a standard diet supplemented with selenium: group 2 – 0.1 mg, group 3 – 0.2 mg, group 4 – 0.3 mg and group 5 – 0.4 mg / kg feed. For a determine the effect of selenium on the productive qualities of quails was conducted taking into account their of preservation, feed intake, body weight is determined and calculated feed cost per 1 g of live weight gain. During the study established that the level of preservation quails high enough in the experimental groups, the best body weight was observed in animals consuming an additional 0.4 mg of Se, and the lowest feed consumption per 1 kg of growth – from poultry which were fed 0.2 mg Se. Thus, investigated of trace elements in the indicated doses increases the productivity of quails and decrease feed costs per 1 kg of live weight gain

The objective of the current study was to examine the effects of mannan-oligosaccharides or inulin on HF dairy heifers’ starter feed intake and daily weight gain in farm situations. We measured these parameters across two experiments. In Trial 1 (T1), next to the control group, 15-15 HF heifers received MOS or inulin supplementation from 1st day of age to weaning. The amount of the supplementations changed according the calves’ age and the amount of milk replacer from 12 g to 24 g/calf/day. We measured the individual feed intake daily, the live weight at 0, 14, 21 and 60 days. In the second experiment (T2) we used 30 HF heifers also in three group (Control, MOS, Inulin) but we gave more from the experiment materials (28 g/calf/day MOS or Inulin). We started dosing the supplements with the colostrums feeding, and gave up on 14th day of age. We also measured the individual feed intake daily and the live body weight (BW) at 0, 14, 28, 42 and 56 days. The treatments in T1 did not cause significant differences in average feed intake, body weight and average daily weight gain. When the calves got the supplementation with colostrum too, the ADWG was significant lower in the group fed inulin than control and group fed MOS (P<0.05). We calculate the ADWG all of the experimental periods. From 0 to 14 day, and from 0 to 56 day the ADWG in inulin group was lower than control group, but the datas of group MOS did not differ from the others. Due to the distribution of the birth weights, the lower ADWG did not manifest in differences in body weight in other points of the experiments. We did not find an interaction between the treatments and the daily feed intake of calves. According with our measurements,

The effectiveness of the use of zinc mixed-ligand complex in feed for broiler chickens of the Cobb-500 was studied. It was found that the reduction of the dose of introduction into compound feeds for broiler chickens, for periods of cultivation of 5-21, 22-35 and 36-42 days, of mixed zinc complex from 60, 50 and 40 g to 45, 37,5 and 30 g of the element per 1 ton of compound feed shows the best results. Live weight of broilers of the 2nd group, which depending on the growing period 5-21, 22-35 and 36-42 days, consumed feed with mixed ligand complex Zinc in a dose corresponding to the introduction of 37.5, 30.0 and 25, 0 g of element per 1 ton of compound feed was the highest and at the age of 42 was 2669.2 g, which was 7.1% higher than that of the control group chickens. It was found that the use of zinc mixed-ligand complex in the doses corresponding to the introduction, by age, 37,5, 30,0 and 25,0 and 30,0, 25,0 and 20,0 g of element per ton of compound feed, compared with the introduction of mixed ligand complex at doses corresponding to the introduction of 1 t of compound feed 45, 37.5 and 30 g of element, increases the average daily increments for the whole period of the experiment by 4.2 and 2.9 g, or 7.2 (P <0, 05) and 5.1%. Feeding mixed fodder with zinc mixed ligand increased sales revenue by 28.4% and profitability of broiler meat production from 37.2% to 47.1%. Thus, the profit per head increased from 22.6 to 28.65 UAH. As a result of the production check, it is established that, provided the same selling price for the products, the use of compound feeds with the addition of zinc zinc-ligand complex has a positive effect on the conservation of livestock, increases the weight of the carcass, reduces feed costs for growth, which leads to increased profits increasing the level of profitability of meat production of broiler chickens. The rams of the Askanian meat-wool breed, grown and kept in the conditions of the steppe zone of the south of Ukraine, were investigated for their adaptive capacity and adaptation to the conditions of the lowland regions of Zakarpattja. It was found that the physiological response of the rams to the maximum air temperature was characterized by a slight increase in body temperature and pulse, and a significant increase in respiratory rate per 1 minute. The good adaptive properties of the Askanian meat and wool breed rams are indicated by the high breeding capacity of ewes, at 97%, in both farms. The ewes of the breed prekos with a live weight of 55.9–58.9 kg were involved in the breeding process, and the Askanian rams with a live weight of 93.3–95.1 kg. It was studied the influence of crossbred crossing of crossbred Askanian sheep of meat and wool breed on the development of productive and reproductive features of Zakarpattja sheep ewes of the breed prekos with the purpose of obtaining mixed breeds with improved economic performance. It is proven by theory and practice that one of the main criteria for the rational management of sheep breeding in modern conditions is the study of individual features of growth and development of young sheep. In a market economy, increasing the meat productivity of sheep is an important factor that determines the level of economic efficiency of the industry. Obtained progeny at the age of 4–8 months had a higher intensity of growth. Thus, the average daily weight gain of lambs in the control group was 234 g, and experimental — 265 g, which is 11.3% more than in the control. The average daily weight gain of the bright control group was 205 g, and the experimental one — 244 g, which is 11.9% more than in the control group. At the age of 8 months, the fat mass of slaughtered animals ranged from 32–36 kg and the carcass weight was 15–18 kg with good fat irrigation. The classification of sheep carcasses by fat irrigation according to the EUROP system corresponded to the average level of coverage of carcasses with fat, that is, the whole carcass was covered with a thin layer of fat, at the base of the tail — small accumulations of fat, the kidneys partially or completely covered with a thin layer of fat, with a slight fatty water between visible intercostal muscles .The balanced feeding of experimental animals had a positive effect on the increase in live birth weight and their viability. The minimum selection parameters of breeding sheep ewes, which are involved in the breeding process, are also set for obtaining animals with high multi-farrowing and combined productivity.

A study was conducted to establish the possibilities for replacing 5 and 10% of wheat in the combined feed for domestic quails with extruded bakery waste and to study its impact on the growth and productivity of quails. 270 domestic quails from the specialized meat production line WG were included in the experiment and divided according to the principle of analogues into 3 aligned groups: control, fed with mixtures without the inclusion of extruded waste from bakeries; experimental I, in the mixtures of which 5% of the wheat was replaced with extruded bakery waste and experimental II, in which 10% of the wheat in the mixtures was replaced by extruded bakery waste. The experiment continued until the age of 35 days. The following signs were monitored: mortality (%), live weight (g), average daily weight gain (g), feed consumption (g), feed conversion (kg/kg weight gain). The study showed that for the 35-day period, the quails from the specialized meat production line WG consumed an average of 812-817 g of compound feed, with an average increase of the weight gain 255-258 g. Under these conditions, the average feed conversion ratio is in the range of 3.15-3.20. In the course of the trial it was found that the replacement of 5 and 10% of wheat in the feed mixture with extruded bakery waste reduces the value of compound feed by an average of 0.85 and 1.7%, but does not affect the studied productivity traits and economic indicators from fattening. When summarizing the results for the 35-day period, the differences between the control and experimental groups on the studied productive traits are less than 2%, and the difference in the value of 1 kg weight gain between the groups is less than 1%.

The scientific results of the body weight dynamics, the multiplicity of its increase, the average daily weight gain, the relative growth rate and the exterior indicators are presented. The brewers waste is a high-protein product with a high content of carbohydrates, including fiber.For the research, three groups of Jersey breed were formed on the principle of the analogue group: the first was control, the second and the third – experimental. Their rations were introduced by 15 % and 20 % of dry brewers waste from the total diet, respectively. It was established that the live weight of the experimental cows from the 2nd group was 9.3 times bigger. The live weight of the experimental cows from the 1st and 3rd group increased 9 times. The cows from the 2nd group had the highest average daily weight gain (811.4 g) in the period from 2 to 6 months. It was 3.2 % times more than in the control group and 7.4 % times more than in the 3rd experimental group. The cows from the 2nd experimental group had the highest relative growth rate (85.7 %) in the period from 2 to 6 months which was 2.2 % times more than in the 1st control group and 4.2% times more than in the 3rd experimental group. In the period from 6 to 12 months, the 2nd experimental group had the highest average daily weight gain (671.4 g), which was 2.1 % more than in the 1st control group and 3.5 % more than in the 3rd experimental group. From 6 to 12 months the relative growth rate in all groups was almost the same and ranged from 54.2% – 54.7 %. At the age of 12 months, the 1st control group had greater index (120.4). The 3rd experimental group had 119.6 and the 2nd – 118.6. The 2nd group of the same age had better shooting index than the 1st control group 0.7 % times more and the 3rd group 1.4 % times more.
