Abstract BIM is an integrated set of building design, construction and management processes, technologies and regulations that allow all parties involved to jointly design, build and manage a building in a digital environment. In Europe, a common approach to the use and adaptation of technologies is currently being developed with the aim of providing a common regulatory framework that would promote the efficiency of technology application between the countries of the European Union. The use of BIM technologies is based on economic (financial) benefits. The financial benefits are estimated in the long run, and the main factors for financial savings are productivity and quality, which can be achieved by applying BIM technology and appropriate processes during the construction cycle (design, construction and management). Studies show that savings can reach up to 10% of construction costs. Currently underway is the process of implementing and configuring the Microsoft Dynamics platform for processing and using work information of SJSC "Latvian State Roads" (LSR). Microsoft Dynamics is a line of enterprise resource planning and customer relationship management software. In general, LSR intends to use the system in the following stages of the construction cycle: • Design stage • Construction procurement stage • Construction stage • Warranty period Microsoft Dynamic has both pros and cons for processing LSR information. Only after full implementation it will be possible to assess the effectiveness of this platform. Objective of the article is to explore how the use of BIM can improve the LSR work process and what happening at this moment in LSR.

Saat ini proses bisnis pembelian, persediaan, dan penjualan barang yang berjalan di Toko Soviah  masih dilakukan secara manual serta belum adanya data pelanggan tetap ditoko tersebut. Hal ini menyebabkan beberapa permasalahan antara lain, sering terjadi kesalahan pencatatan pembelian dan penjualan barang, perhitungan transaksi yang lama, lambatnya informasi ketersediaan barang di gudang serta belum adanya upaya untuk meraih loyalitas pelanggan dalam bisnis yang dijalankan. Oleh karena itu, perlu penerapan Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) dan Customer Relationship Management (CRM) untuk sistem informasi pembelian, persediaan, dan penjualan barang serta pengelolaan hubungan dengan pelanggan yang bertujuan untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut. Tahapan penerapan ERP ini dimulai dengan studi pendahuluan. Aktivitasnya yaitu pengenalan perusahaan dengan wawancara dan observasi, mengidentifikasi proses bisnis pembelian, persediaan, dan penjualan barang yang sedang berjalan kemudian membuatkan usulan sistem secara terkomputerisasinya, yang digambarkan dengan menggunakan Business Process Model Notation (BPMN), serta penggambaran model kerja sistem yang akan diterapkan menggunakan use case diagram. Tahapan selanjutnya adalah melakukan studi literatur dari berbagai buku dan jurnal untuk mencari landasan teori dan penelitian terkait. Kemudian melakukan pemilihan perangkat lunak ERP, setelah itu melakukan konfigurasi dan kustomisasi modul perangkat lunak ERP tersebut, serta terakhir melakukan penerapan dan pengujian. Hasil yang diharapkan dari penelitian ini adalah dapat mengatasi permasalahan pada Toko Soviah.

The notion of cloud computing is a paradigm shift from local machines and networks to virtualization technologies with services as a technical and business concept. This shift introduces major challenges when using cloud for deploying and running enterprise applications in the current Enterprise ecosystems. For companies, picking and choosing the right cloud to meet requirements is hard, and no solution is likely to provide the end-to-end specific IT services delivery and an end-to-end IT solution. Conversely cloud federation assists in providing flexibility to the customer and enables them to lower their TCO by shifting from one cloud to another while mitigating risks associated with a single cloud approach. In order to create competitive differentiation, small businesses require multiple software systems to both meet minimal data management and creative expectations. At the other end of the enterprise ecosystem spectrum, large companies rely on thousands of services in order to meet the needs of everything from simple departmental database applications to core Enterprise Resource planning and Customer Relationship Management systems on which the enterprise itself is managed. As an optimal adoption decision cannot be established for all individual cases, the authors propose to analyze three different use cases for deployment of enterprise applications such as SAP, on the cloud in order to provide some valuable pointers to navigate the emerging cloud ecosystem: rapid provisioning, elasticity and live migration of enterprise applications.

The last 15 years have seen the emergence on the software market of a category of software called Enterprise Resource Planning systems or ERP, which has become the focus of both researchers and practitioners in the information systems area. At this time, the ERP software market is one of the fastest growing markets in the software industry with long-term growth rates of 36-40%. Some estimates put the eventual size of the market by the year 2010 at US$1 trillion (Bingi et al., 1999). Since these estimates have been put forward, the ERP market has slowed down, but the overall growth of the enterprise-wide application market is still quite strong, thanks to a number of additional segments, such as Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Supply Chain Management (SCM). Also, more recently, a new trend is emerging in the market: the re-implementation and extension of ERP, referred to as ERP II (Humphries and Jimenez, 2003).

Abstract While having been the object of numerous studies, the link between ERP implementation and SMEs performance still requires understanding. This paper documents the effect of investments in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems on a firm’s sales performance and profitability measure such as return on sales (ROS). The models are based on a sample of 240 during time of defined activities in the sales process realized during the each month by 40 knowledge workers in each of 5 Polish SMEs announcements of ERP implementations. Our analysis of the financial benefits of these implementations yields mixed results. Our results are encouraging that we find the business activity that can persistent evidence of sales performance associated with ERP investments. This should help alleviate the companies that some have expressed about the viability of ERP given the highly publicized implementation problems at some firms.

The importance of the impact of IT for organizations around the world, especially in light of a very slow recovery from the global financial crisis, has amplified the need to provide a better understanding of the specific geographic similarities and differences of IT managerial and technical trends. Going beyond identifying these influential factors is also the need to understand the considerations for addressing them in light of recognizing the respective local characteristics, especially when operating in a globally linked environment, although somehow heavily influenced locally. By comparing and contrasting IT trends from different geographies, this paper presents important local and international factors (e.g., management concerns, influential technologies, budgets/spending, organizational considerations) necessary to prepare IT leaders for the challenges that await them. It can also serve as an indicator as the respective geographies evolve from the economic conundrum. The research is based on data from four geographic regions (United States (US), Europe, Asia, and Latin America). The same questionnaire (although translated for the respective respondents), based on the lead authors well-respected and long-running Society for Information Management survey, was applied across the geographies. This paper presents the major findings based on survey responses from 620 respondents (275 US, 100 European, 59 Asian, and 186 Latin) in mid-2011. The top five management concerns were: (1) IT and business alignment; (2) business agility and speed to market; (3) business process management and business process reengineering; (4) business productivity and cost reduction; (5) IT reliability and efficiency. The five most influential technologies were: (1) business intelligence; (2) enterprise resource planning systems; (3) cloud computing; (4) mobile and wireless applications; (5) customer relationship management.

AbstractElectronic business leads to the reengineering of business processes in a company, which encompasses integrating processes through customer relationship management, supply chain management, and an enterprise resource planning system. The aim of the paper is to analyse the impact of electronic business on enterprise transformation through reengineering and integration of business processes. The significance of the research is to emphasise management problems and challenges encountered by companies due to electronic business and application of information technologies. The research applies an analytical method to examine the effects of electronic business on business processes. The main contribution of the research is to look at electronic business as an initiator and the cause of radical changes in business processes characterised as reengineering. By transforming their business practices into electronic business, companies make significant efforts in their restructuring in order to deal with the changes in the competitive environment. The basis of these efforts is a redesign and change of business processes. The conclusion is that introducing the Internet and Web-technologies in business does not require only a radical reengineering of existing basic business processes but also generation of new ones, which would support the new business environment.

The present research examines the success of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems in Greece, employing Delone and McLean’s model. The questionnaires of the study were e-mailed to the 1,049 largest organizations based on turnover and assets. The final research sample consists of 105 Greek enterprises. The list of organizations was compiled by using the Index of Companies and Products Directory (ICAP). Results show that users have more positive attitude towards system quality and information quality and less positive attitude towards service quality. Moreover, users believe that ERP systems enhance their performance and can contribute to the control of management. Furthermore, present paper proved that D&M model constitutes a causal model with the exception of the variable of system use that is only related to user satisfaction, and ERP system quality.The findings of this research trigger many theoretical and managerial implications and create lots of potential for future research in the fields of Information Systems, Management, and Marketing.

The study aim is identifying the role of ERP systems in improving CRM at Safeway Company of Jordan. Employees (No. 210) at Safeway-Jordan were recruited in the study. The researcher adopted a diagnostic descriptive approach, and constructed two tests to measure; the ERP systems and CRM in Safeway-Jordan. The correlation between ERP systems and CRM at Safeway from employee’s perspective was statistically significant. Considering the aforementioned findings, the study recommended that Safeway and other enterprises to use ERP systems and to implement them in prompting CRM for their effective role in improving CRM; it also recommends carefulness inhiring vendors and sales representatives.

Adopting a focus on CRM has been an industry standard for nearly two decades. While evidence suggests that a majority of the attempts to implement CRM systems fail, no single reason for the failures has been identified. Assuming that CRM implementation is an extension of a customer-oriented business strategy and assuming successful integration with Enterprise Information Systems such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, the authors contend that the lack of valid and reliable CRM metrics leads to the perception of failed CRM implementation. Only through the development, application, and use of CRM metrics can organizations hope to achieve their CRM goals.
