An environment committed to providing family-centered care to children must be aware of the nurse caring behaviors important to parents of children. This descriptive study assessed the psychometrics of a revised version of the Caring Behaviors Assessment (CBA) and examined nurse caring behaviors identified as important to the parents of pediatric patients in a pediatric emergency department. Jean Watson’s theory of human caring provided the study’s theoretical underpinnings. The instrument psychometrics was determined through an index of content validity (CVI) and internal consistency reliability. The instrument was determined to be valid (CVI = 3.75) and reliable (Cronbach’s alpha = .971). The revised instrument was completed by a stratified, systematic random sample of 300 parents of pediatric emergency patients. Participants rated the importance of each item for making the child feel cared for by nurses. Individual survey item means were computed. Items with the highest means represented the most important nurse caring behaviors. Leading nurse caring behaviors centered on carative factors of “human needs assistance” and “sensitivity to self and others.” Nearly all nurse caring behaviors were important to the parents of pediatric patients, although some behaviors were not priority. It is important for nurses to provide family-centered care in a way that demonstrates nurse caring.

Nurse caring behaviors and patient satisfaction: The impact of patients experience at Bukit Kemuning inpatient public health centreBackground: The results of the pre-survey conducted on January - 2019 based on the medical records of the Bukit Kemuning Inpatient Health Center in North Lampung recorded in 2018 had of 279 inpatients. Base on evaluation in Bukit Kemuning Inpatient Health Center, the Minimum Service Standards (MSS) achievement scored of 67.29% describes the service quality is still suboptimal.Purpose: Knowing relationship between nurses' caring behavior towards patient satisfaction in Bukit Kemuning Inpatient Health Centre North Lampung RegencyMethod: A quantitative cross-sectional approach, the population of all outpatient who had experienced hospitalization at Bukit Kemuning Inpatient Health Center, with a sample of 282 respondent. The variables of this study were nurse caring behavior and patient satisfaction. The research conducted at the Bukit Kemuning Inpatient Health Center UPT North Lampung Regency. data collection using a questionnaire. Hasil pra survey yang dilakukan tanggal 5 – 9 Januari 2019  berdasarkan data rekam medis Puskesmas Rawat Inap Bukit Kemuning  Kabupaten Lampung Utara  tercatat tahun 2018 jumlah pasien yang melakukan kunjungan rawat jalan sebesar 11.169 orang dan rawat inap sebanyak 279 orang. Puskesmas Rawat Inap Bukit Kemuning  Kabupaten Lampung Utara  Standar SPM > 90 % dengan hasil capaian hanya 67, 29% sehingga dapat menggambarkan mutu pelayanan masih belum optimal.Tujuan : Diketahui  hubungan perilaku caring perawat terhadap kepuasan pasien di UPT Puskesmas Rawat Inap Bukit Kemuning  Kabupaten Lampung Utara  tahun 2019Metode: Penelitian kuantitatif pendekatan Cross Sectional, populasi seluruh pengunjung Puskesmas, dengan sampel berjumlah 282 orang Objek dalam penelitian ini adalah perilaku caring perawat dan kepuasan pasien. Penelitian dilakukan di UPT Puskesmas Rawat Inap Bukit Kemuning  Kabupaten Lampung Utara. bulan Januari – Juni  2019 . pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner. Analisis data secara univariat dan bivariat (chi square).Hasil: Diketahui pernyataan responden tentang perawat yang menunjukkan perilaku caring kategori buruk, sebesar 162 (57,4%) responden, kepuasan keluarga pasien kurang puas, sebesar 140 (49,4%) responden, Ada  hubungan antara perilaku caring perawat terhadap tingkat kepuasan keluarga pasien di UPT Puskesmas Rawat Inap Bukit Kemuning  Kabupaten Lampung Utara  tahun 2019 (p-value=0,000,0,05, OR=4,659)Simpulan: Ada  hubungan antara perilaku caring perawat terhadap tingkat kepuasan keluarga pasien di UPT Puskesmas Rawat Inap Bukit Kemuning  Kabupaten Lampung Utara  tahun 2019, bagi pihak manajemen Puskesmas sebagai bahan pertimbangan untuk mengadakan pelatihan perilaku caring perawat guna meningkatkan pelayanan pasien.

Minimal cross-national comparisons of nurse caring behaviors are available. A descriptive correlational study was conducted to describe and compare caring behaviors between nurses in Ireland (n = 74) and the United States (US) (n = 74). Significant differences were found between the samples on both educational background and years of nursing experience. US nurses had higher mean caring behavior scores compared to Irish nurses. However, when controlling for the two background variables, the difference was not statistically significant. This study is the first to compare nurses’ caring behaviors in these two countries. The findings have research, education, and practice implications.

A cross-sectional descriptive study was done at surgical wards of Kenyatta National Hospital to compare nurses’ and patients’ perceptions on importance of nurse-caring behaviors. Data were collected from 182 adult patients and 127 nurses. The most important nurse-caring behaviors as ranked by patients were give me treatments and medications on time and help me with my care until am able to do it for myself. Nurses ranked treat the patient as an individual and know how to give injections as the 2 most important nurse-caring behaviors.

Background and purposeInstruments developed specifically to measure nurse caring behaviors need to be assessed in different cultural contexts. The purpose was to translate the Caring Behaviors Inventory (CBI) into Turkish and evaluate its psychometric properties.MethodsThis was a methodological study with 356 nurses and 363 patients. Linguistic, content validity, and construct validity tested for the validity of scale. Internal consistency and test–retest were calculated for reliability of scale.ResultsExploratory factor analysis identified 30 items that could be categorized under three factors. Cronbach's α for the CBI was .97 for nurses and .99 for patients.ConclusionsThe Turkish version of the CBI is a valid and reliable instrument for measuring caring behaviors.

Nurse caring in hospital settings may be demonstrated without direct intention and without the language to express caring actions. Therefore, nursing students educated in a curriculum grounded in caring may not recognize the transformation of theory to the practice environment. This manuscript describes the baccalaureate student perspective of caring behaviors of nurse preceptors. Athematic analysis of unstructured, qualitative interview data revealed six themes: welcoming presence, demonstrating empathy, encouraging growth, patience and time as compassionate care, building relationships, and communicating therapeutically. In addition, students as role models and caring for each other emerged as themes related to student-student caring behaviors.

The aim of this research was to develop a substantive theory of nurse caring. The specific objectives were to identify nurse caring behaviors and interactions and patient health outcomes. Because caring is a socially constructed process, grounded theory methodology was used in this study. Fourteen chronically ill elderly hospitalized patients participated in audiotaped interviews about nurse caring. Anew theory of caring, personalized nurse caring, emerged with three phases: connecting as family, conveying genuine concern, and taking care of needs. Positive patient health outcomes were identified. Caring for patients in a personalized, family-like manner has nursing practice, pedagogical, and research implications.
