Multi-pile composite foundation is a method of ground improvement that involves using different pile types with different lengths and diameters beneath the same raft. The types of piles are chosen to mobilize the strength and stiffness of the soil at shallow depths. CFG (cement–flyash–gravel) pile and powder spraying pile have been widely applied in civil engineering, and gradually in highway foundation engineering. But the settlement of the pavement reinforced by the two types of piles has seldom been studied. In the present paper, the numerical simulation software FLAC3D is adopted to simulated the highway foundation reinforced by CFG pile and powder spraying pile , the spacing of piles and cushion thickness are changed, the settlements of the pavement are obtained to give guidance for the real practice.

Combined with the field tests of CFG (Cement Fly-ash Gravel) pile-net (geogrid) composite foundation in Danyang Test Section of the Beijing-Shanghai High-speed Railway, the settlement, pile-soil stress ratio and additional stress of composite foundation were analyzed by numerical simulation. It shows that the pile-soil stress ratio of CFG pile-net composite foundation is in the range of 4 to 6. And the reasonable distribution of additional stress in composite foundation is also discussed. The results can provide references for the design of the CFG pile-net composite foundation under embankment in high-speed railway.

This paper analyzes the causes of larger differences of final settlement calculated value of cement fly-ash gravel pile (CFG pile) composite foundation of Baotou with actual observed result of it. On the basis of analysis on a number of practical engineering data of Baotou, we modify the settlement formula of the CFG pile composite foundation and gain the modified coefficient applied to the settlement calculation of the CFG pile composite foundation of Baotou. The modified formula and coefficient proposed in this paper have a positive effect on the accurate settlement calculation of puting forward a more accurate correction formula and coefficient of the calculation of the CFG pile composite foundation of Baotou.

The differential and large settlement may have a great effect on the construction and maintenance of highway. Based on the study of concrete pile composite foundation, the effect of concrete pile composite foundation on reinforcement and influence factors of settlement are analyzed in the paper. The effects of pile modulus and embankment modulus on settlement with numerical simulation method are analyzed in the paper. The result of numerical simulation method is that the settlement of embankment may be reduced with the method of concrete pile composite foundation and pile modulus may have a great effect and embankment modulus may have some effect on the settlement of embankment.

There are a lot of factors that influence the bearing capacity of composite foundation, and the relationship between them is complex and nonlinear. Based on study of main factors that have great influence on bearing capacity of cement-flyash-gravel (CFG) pile composite foundation, the least squares support vector machine (LS-SVM) model of bearing capacity of composite foundation was established. The results show that the model has excellent learning ability and generalization and can provide accurate data prediction only with fewer observed sample. It is proved that the new method is a promising method for the determination of bearing capacity of CFG pile and other rigid piles composite foundation.

The flexible pile and the rigid pile, the gravel pile and CFG pile are arranged in a group as compound piles, which utilize their merits and avoid their shortcomings. Based on the study of the existing calculation methods for the bearing capacity of multi-pile composite foundation, the working behavior of loaded multi-pile composite foundation and the general influence of different construction methods to the bearing capacity of the soil are considered. The coefficient of the bearing capacity exertion of master piles, the coefficient of the bearing capacity exertion of minor piles, the coefficient of the bearing capacity exertion of the soil between piles and the coefficient of the bearing capacity improvement of the soil are introduced. The new step-by-step calculation method for the bearing capacity of multi-pile composite foundation is put forward. Through designed a high-rise frame structure with multi-type-pile composite foundation, the results show that the multi-type-pile composite foundation is more whole and possess stronger capacity of load transfer compared with single-type-pile composite foundation. It can satisfy the requirements of load bearing capacity and deformation under special foundation conditions.

Numerical simulation model was established with FLAC3D to calculate the bearing capacity and the settlement of composite foundation with different pile-soil shear modulus. Then the rules of the effect of pile-soil shear modulus upon mixed pile composite foundation have been obtained. The results show that there is a great relationship between the pile-soil shear modulus and the bearing capacity of mixed pile composite foundation. Along with the increase of pile-soil shear modulus, the bearing capacity increase. Also, this paper suggest that the right value of pile-soil shear modulus of mixed pile composite foundation solidified by HEC or HAS consolidator dosing 12%, which can be used for the design of mixed pile composite foundation.

Based on the foundation treatment for deep soft soil in Chaoshan station district, this paper studied the engineering characteristics of soft soil in Chaoshan and the settlement regularity of pile-net composite foundation, etc. by numerical simulation. The results show: the reduction of pile spacing and the settings of pile cap can decrease the settlement of soil among the piles on foundation plane.
