There is almost digitization of the entire educational system, as there is an abundant of digital materials available. The educational system is not left out from the global standardization as well as authorities are imposing certain standard at local and global level. As a result, these data which are getting generated in the context of educational also complies all the basic characteristics of the Big Data such as volume in terms of size, and others velocity, variety etc. In order to store, search and process an open source project, Apache Hadoop has been conceptualized, whereas it lags the application specific needs especially in the field of education to enhance the teaching and learning processes. In this paper, an architectural model is illustrated to demonstrate the existing eco-system and a proposed model for provisioning the enhanced teaching -learning mechanism, so that it can be adopted to enhance the intelligence into mechanism of educational framework.

In the last ten years, there have been conscious attempts by every nation to integrate digital tools into their educational system especially at the tertiary level. Nigeria is no exception. The policymakers in Nigeria at the federal and state levels have felt the need to integrate Information Communication Technology (ICT) in their educational policies. It is felt that in this globalized world the country must embrace digital technology to enhance support teaching and learning environment. It is the belief that in the present globalized world every nation should embrace digital technology to be competitive and also have knowledge-based society as well as information society or as Castells, (1996) has put it “Network Society” and also Perevozchikova, et.al. (2020). The COVID-19 pandemic has also made it imperative that countries should advance towards e-learning. The future of education is therefore intertwined with Information Communication Technologies (ICTs). The Nigerian government has realized that the new normal or post-COVID-19 pandemic environment has made the traditional method of teaching and learning outmoded. It is therefore in this regard that most policymakers in Nigeria are advocating an advance towards ICT hence there is what we can call paradigm-shift in terms of teaching and learning in Nigeria now. This paper discusses the Nigerian guidelines on digital education highlighting the challenges and the prospects of digital education. It concludes that digital education must be embraced because the post-COVID-19 pandemic has made it impossible to continue with the traditional mode of teaching/learning.

The importance of research on the teaching and learning of human anatomy is currently recognized, especially if it is considered that university courses in this area continue the traditional scheme that predominates worldwide, prioritizing transmissive teaching, rote learning and summative evaluation. The purpose of this work was the construction of models for the teaching-learning (T-L) of human anatomy in which the writing, illustration and animation of a story is proposed as a method of T-L of the anatomy of the brachial plexus (nerves of the upper limb). For this, the model construction process was followed, taking into account the definition of the objective, the initial observation, the reading of the theory, the form of representation, the verification of the proposed model, and the socialization. This T-L method allowed the students to achieve a deep understanding of the topic, in this case, the spatial location of the brachial plexus, the relationship of the anatomical structures and their clinical correlation. Therefore, it can be concluded that the elaboration of models allowed the students to take ownership of their learning process by proposing, exploring and deploying their creativity and critical thinking; in addition, the attitude of the teachers, who participated as mediators, contributed to the students’ cognitive and emotional engagement in the academic activity.

The role and use of science and the academic institutions in charge of it are no longer limited to the knowledge taught to students. Universities must strengthen their scientific capacities and ensure that the sciences adapt to emerging needs, regions, economic and social. The university sees itself as the leading supplier in the knowledge supply chain through internship students, graduates and researchers who make up its customers. The new culture gives the University a dual scientific and commercial role. The first is knowledge-based and the second is commercial in nature since students invest in their studies (first customers) and employers (end users), under competitive pressure, demand more and more quality in graduate training. In this regard, academic institutions, aware of this new culture, strive to put in place the tools and practices to guarantee better quality by drawing inspiration from those of quality management in industry in addition to recent educational reforms that emphasize the role of emotional skills in teaching and learning.

Since the methods of teaching and learning are currently changing, Slovenian society is challenged to respond. Ministries responsible for the development of the educational system encourage informatization of education by launching strategically oriented tenders. This research presents three such projects, which together propose guidelines on how to further develop the Slovenian educational system with an emphasis on the introduction of information and communication technologies into everyday life in Slovenian schools at all levels (teaching, learning, management, etc.). There are three main areas that are covered: (1) technical assistance and support, (2) development and deployment of e-learning materials and e-textbooks and (3) teacher training. Using these approaches it would be possible to achieve an increase in digital competences and a change in our pedagogical paradigm. Results show a better motivation, communication and improved teamwork among students. This is a consequence of changes in the way of thinking and teaching by both teachers and other school participants, especially the headmasters who put the student in the centre of activities. The whole process of school informatization depends on a coherent development of various fields. The focus is on a change of pedagogical paradigm and the consequential teacher and managerial staff training. Key words: e-competent school, e-competent teacher, e-textbooks, innovative 1:1 pedagogy.

The paper explores the status of civic education in Tunisian public schools. It calls for seizing the opportunities offered by Tunisia’s transition to democracy to improve the teaching and learning of civic education. Before 2011, the Tunisian educational system was not very concerned with raising young generations on the principles and values of civic engagement, participatory citizenship, democratic participation, and social justice. Decision makers did not seem to be aware of the opportunities that young generations may enjoy inside and outside the classroom to learn about these values, and to be more actively committed to other issues, such as human rights, economic development, and the rule of law. However, the Tunisian youth have always used modern technology to keep updated about National and world affairs, and the recent huge developments in the domains of social media and citizen journalism have deepened their awareness about the lack of social justice and human rights in the country. The paper focuses on the importance of civic education in the Tunisian educational system to critically reconsider its potential role in educating the young generations on the values and principles of democracy. This is achieved through a review of two major components of the teaching/learning of civic education, namely how the subject is being taught and how the teachers are being prepared.

Based on his experience as an educator, the author criticizes current methods and philosophies of learning and teaching. Learning should be geared towards practice (‘learning by doing’); teaching should be about exciting students and helping them perform meaningful tasks, rather than having them passively absorb knowledge that they cannot see the use of. Feedback from former students allows the author to posit a few simple rules for teaching and learning, and identify some of the major (though universally accepted) misconceptions about the role of the teacher and the nature of the learning process. A pragmatics of learning starts from naturally occurring learning situations and emphasizes teaching that is based on the learner’s own experiences, where mistakes are seen as a major source of insight into what is needed in order to achieve success in education and to remake the broken educational system that we are trying to cope with in today’s schools.
