Abstract In this study, a novel design method for half-cycle and modified posicast controller structures is proposed for a class of the fractional order systems. In this method, all required design variable values, namely, the input step magnitudes and their application times are obtained as functions of fractional system parameters. Moreover, empirical formulas are obtained for the overshoot values of the compensated system with half-cycle and modified posicast controllers designed utilizing this method. The proposed design methodology has been tested via simulations and ball balancing real-time system. It is observed that the derived formulas are in coherence with outcomes of the simulation and real-time application. Furthermore, the performance of modified posicast controller designed using proposed method is much better than other posicast control method.

This paper presents a controller design method using lead and lag controllers for fractional-order control systems. In the presented method, it is aimed to minimize the error in the control system and to obtain controller parameters parametrically. The error occurring in the system can be minimized by integral performance criteria. The lead and lag controllers have three parameters that need to be calculated. These parameters can be determined by the simulation model created in the Matlab environment. In this study, the fractional-order system in the model was performed using Matsuda’s fourth-order integer approximation. In the optimization model, the error is minimized by using the integral performance criteria, and the controller parameters are obtained for the minimum error values. The results show that the presented method gives good step responses for lead and lag controllers.

This paper presents the research platform for real-time digital simulation applications which replaces the requirement for full-scale or partial-scale validation of physical systems. To illustrate this, a three-phase AC-DC-AC converter topology has been used consists of diode rectifier, DC link, and an IGBT inverter with inductive load. In this topology, rectifier as well as inverter decoupled and solved separately using decoupled method, which results in the reduced order system so that it is easy to solve the state equation. This method utilizes an analytical approach to formulate the state equations, and interpolation methods have been implemented to rectify the zero-crossing errors, with fixed step size of 100 μsec is used. The proposed algorithm and the model have been validated using MATLAB simulation as m-file program and also in real-time DSP controller domain. The performance of the real-time system model is evaluated based on accuracy, zero crossing, and step size.

This paper combines the characteristics of real-time embedded systems and the real-time operating system to propose a software engineering method and process which bases on the function structured analysis and task structured design. First in the process of structured analysis based on the Hatley-Pirbhai method, extracting and sorting out the data flow and control flow according to the functional requirements of the system, analyzing and processing the functions of the system, the dependency among the functions and the timing sequence, and then realizing the design of the specific functions of the system, next achieving the structural design through the improving method, it also simplifies the system design processes. At this time, just need to analyze and divide the processing which is obtained from the structural analysis to get the specific task, design the interfaces among the tasks and also every task to get the new design method of the embedded real-time operating system, which also solves hard issue of the traditional method which is the weak extracting and developing iteration in the embedded real-time system.

Many processes in the industry can be modeled as fractional order, research on the fractional order become more and more popular. Usually, controllers such as fractional order PID (FOPID) or fractional active disturbance rejection control (FADRC) are used to control single-input-single-output (SISO) fractional order system. However, when it comes to fractional order two-input-two-output (TITO) processes, few research focus on this. In this paper, a new design method for fractional order control based on multivariable non-internal model control with inverted decoupling is proposed to handle non-integer order two-input-two-output system. The controller proposed in this paper just has two parameters to tune compared with the five parameters of the FOPID controller, and the controller structure can be achieved by internal model control (IMC) method which means it is easy to implement. The parameters tuning method used in this paper is based on frequency domain strategy. Compared with integer order situation, fractional order method is more complex, because the calculation of the frequency domain characteristics is difficult. The controller proposed in this paper is robust to process gain variations, what’s more, it provides ideal performance for both set point-tracking and disturbance rejection. Numerical results are given to show the performance of the proposed controller.

In this paper, the improved genetic algorithm is applied to optimize the quantization factors and the scaling factors of fuzzy control, and the optimized rule table and membership functions is obtained according to certain performances. Then a kind of optimal fuzzy PID-Smith control method based on genetic algorithm is proposed and its simulation model is built in this paper, a second-order system is simulated and analyzed. The results show that requirements of deterministic performances of the new control method are better than the conventional methods through the simulation results in the stability, rapidity and robustness.

DARTS (Design Approach for Real Time Systems) [4] is a software design method for real time systems. LabVIEW (Laboratory Virtual Instrument Engineering Workbench) is a graphical application development environment developed by National Instruments Corporation based on the dataflow representation of the "G" language [6][2]. LabVIEW is implicitly multithreaded and has high level functions for communication/synchronization, allowing it to be used as a programming language for control/command and soft real-time applications. In order to help a designer to develop a real-time application, we propose the library DARTSVIEW, which simplifies the passage from the conception of a "multitasking" application to the implementation [8). One can use DARTSVIEW in different phases of the life cycle of real-time system software. The last version of DARTSVIEW, allows to define in XML several real-time programming normalized languages, and to generate a part of the code for different specific programming languages (Ada, POSIX 1003.1, VxWorks, OSEK/VDX, etc.). The flexibility introduced by the use of XML allows a designer also to generate some code targeting real-time scheduling analysis tools in order to achieve the temporal validation. The objective of this article is to present an overview of DARTSVIEW, a Toolkit for DARTS in LabVIEW, the role of DARTSVIEW in the software.

This paper presents a new design method of Fractional Order Proportional Integral Controller (FO-PI) for 3x3 multivariable system (three-input-three-output). The Optimal parameters of the FO-PI controllers are tuning by minimizing performance index criterion as objective function. The irrational transfer function of the fractional operator is performed by means of diffusive representation and allows to formulate the optimization problem as a function of fractional order. The simulation results show that the performance of the response obtained by diffusive approach -based FO-PI are better than whose obtained by the classical controllers.
