A more flexible approach is needed to accommodate rapidly changing require requirements of the fuel market toward the gas-turbine manufacturer. The impact of new fuels on performance of the gas turbine is both long and short range. The short-range effects influence the design of the fuel-handling, combustion, and control systems. Long-range effects on the gas turbine include potential corrosion of the blades and vanes, as some of the new fuels contain small but varying amounts of sodium, potassium, vanadium, and lead. These metallic trace elements, in causing corrosion, are independent of the type of fuel in which they are contained; therefore, safe trace element levels can be established under controlled laboratory conditions, using small specimens of the structural material. This paper deals mainly with the crude oil.

The article is devoted to the development of modern models and algorithms for information processing for the prediction, diagnosing and maintenance tasks of inter-element interaction in automatic control systems of aviation gas turbine engines. Considered the model of inter-node interaction with the definition of power active points and their neural structures with visualization in the form of scalogramm. Presented a graph of changes the power node characteristics of the automatic control systems of gas turbine engine and the distribution histograms of practically normal states and faults with defect properties on the scale of confidence coefficients based on the control algorithm the prediction and diagnostics processes according to the data of the system survey. The decision support system during the research process has two stages of functioning:1) at the stage of prediction and diagnostics, the measurement of the power characteristics of the active interaction points is determined, and corresponding elements of the models are taken into account the power states formed on the nominal energy state of the nodes;2) at the stage of maintenance and repair, while observing the painted nodes, determine the type, intensity and duration of influence in order to normalize the power of the nodal active points of interaction (to bring the state to a dark brown colour). At the same time, the dynamics of the correction process is well traced, visually visible to which accompanying situations is directed the impact and how it will affect the functioning of the linked nodes and /or systems.During the developing an appropriate system of inter-element interaction in automatic control systems of gas turbine engines, it is possible to receive an educational and control sample to support decision-making, check the reliability of the operation of the received rules, and if necessary, a training procedure can be implemented to improve the accuracy of the classification by training and control samples. The developed rational technology of building the architecture of nodes in the automatic control systems of aviation engines will create high-performance systems of a new generation with a flexible, easily variable structure, increase reliability and durability of operation of automatic control systems of aviation engines.

The overall design of and Advanced Integrated Propulsion System (AIPS), powered by an LV100 gas turbine engine, is presented along with major test accomplishments. AIPS was a demonstrator program that included design, fabrication, and test of an advanced rear drive powerpack for application in a future heavy armored vehicle (54.4 tonnes gross weight). The AIPS design achieved significant improvements in volume, performance, fuel consumption, reliability/durability, weight and signature reduction. Major components of AIPS included the recuperated LV100 turbine engine, a hydrokinetic transmission, final drives, self-cleaning air filtration (SCAF), cooling system, signature reduction systems, electrical and hydraulic components, and control systems with diagnostics/prognostics and maintainability features.

Abstract Poultry red mite (PRM), Dermanyssus gallinae, causes egg drop production, anemia and can be a vector in transmitting diseases. The PRM control mainly focuses on usage of the conventional chemical biocides. The objective of this study was to analyze the farmers’ perception regarding the impact, management and control of PRM in Macedonian layer farms. The data were collected with direct on-site visits using a unified questionnaire. In total, 29 poultry farms (28% of farms in the country), all with conventional cages, were part of this study. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, inferential statistics and Naïve Bayes Classifier technique. In 30% of the poultry farms the farmers had observed that the flock was infested with PRM. In total, 32 different treatments against PRM were reported from the farmers, and three of them were non-biocide treatments. The most used biocides (17% of the farms) were crude oil, Formalin, Neopitroid® and disinfectants. The highest agreement regarding biocides application among the farms (38%) was before the production starts. Most of the farmers applied biocides routinely, before the infestation is evident (75%). The median costs for PRM treatment were 175€ per flock, higher in the infested farms 493±677€ compared to non - infested 100±71€, p<0.05. None of the Macedonian farmers included in the study was using monitoring method for PRM infestation, contributing to poor data records. This study highlights the need of developing unified strategy for PRM control included in the Integrated Pest Management in poultry layer farms.

Increased fuel costs have created a strong incentive for gas turbine operators to understand, minimize and control performance deterioration. The most prevalent deterioration problem faced by gas turbine operators is compressor fouling. Fouling causes a drop in airflow, pressure ratio and compressor efficiency, resulting in a “re-matching” of the gas turbine and compressor and a drop in power output and thermal efficiency. This paper addresses the causes and effects of fouling and provides a comprehensive treatment of the impact of salient gas turbine design parameters on the susceptibility and sensitivity to compressor fouling. Simulation analysis of ninety two (92) gas turbines of ranging from a few kW to large engines rated at greater than 300 MW has been conducted. It is hoped that this paper will provide practical information to gas turbine operators.

The impact of artisanal refining of crude oil on the river bed sediments of the study area was investigated by assessing some quality properties. The result showed some consistency across the stations of the study area; however there were some differences between the values of the test stations and control station indicating some level of impacts on the quality of the sediments. The mean values of the test stations are pH 3.3±0.7, E. conductivity -10.2±3.7 mS/cm, Salinity 19.0±4.0‰, PO43- 401.8±67.0 mg/kg, SO42- 279.8±52.8 mg/kg, NO3- 58.0±22.9 mg/kg, SO2 215±100.2 mg/kg, Cl- 97.4±89.8 mg/kg, TOM  45.6±51.4%, K+ 1.054±0.3 meq/100g, Na+ 6.385±2.5 meq/100g and Ca2+ 0.756±0.6 meq/100g while that of the control values are 4.15±0.55, 11.0±0.0, 12.2±0.6, 428.25±12.75, 294.9±8.2, 76.8±15.2, 148.75±23.75, 126±99, 20. 9±4.1, 0.798±0.34, 5.639±1.383 and 0.261±0.128, respectively. The result indicated that the said activities affected the pH, PO43-, SO42-, NO3-, Cl- etc. of the study area; as these values were consistently lower than that of the control station. Again some of the quality properties were higher or lower than those of the control station and some related studies within and outside the region of the study area indicating some impacts which could be mostly anthropogenic. These impacts if not checked and the make–shift refining of the crude oil stopped by the appropriate regulatory bodies could have some adverse effects on the aquatic life quality of the ecosystem.

AbstractThe physiognomy of the combined operations recorded essential changes at the beginning of the 21st century, due to the impact of the scientific and technical revolution in the military field, materialized in the production of new generation’s weapons with particularly destructive characteristics (Vladu & Popa, 2016). The emergence of new advanced capabilities for conducting air operations, as well as the use of military robots and intelligent ammunitions in joint operations led to the implementation of the “lightning success” concept by the forces of modern armies. In this respect, we consider that a particularly important role in achieving “lightning success”, by the forces of the modern armies, is played by the main characteristics of adversary general protection system, particularly by the weaknesses of the fortification system which have not been able to provide optimal conditions for protection for the command and control systems, fighting and supporting forces, as well as for public administration authorities and the civilian population.
