NdSr 2 RuCu 2 O x material has been prepared as polycrystalline powder by solid state reaction. The compound has been investigated by synchrotron x-ray powder diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The experimental results show that the average crystal structure is a disordered cubic perovskite with Nd and Sr cations occupying the same site and the same substitution is found for Cu and Ru atoms. A comparison between the crystal structure and morphology of this compound and the superconducting tetragonal GdSr 2 RuCu 2 O 8 is also discussed.

AbstractA series of 4336 Bi‐Sr‐Ca‐Cu oxide samples doped with 1 to 5% metallic Ag was prepared by solid state reaction. The distribution of Ag, the microstructure and the crystal structure of the samples were studied using energy dispersive spectrometry, EDS, scanning electron microscopy, SEM, and x‐ray diffractometry, XRD. Addition of Ag leads to a marked increase in preferred orientation with (001) planes perpendicular to the pressing direction in sintered pellets. The resistivity‐temperature data show an enhanced Tc in Ag‐doped samples under certain conditions. Energy dispersive spectrometry indicates that the dopant mostly segregates to the grain boundaries.

2-Amino-3-hydroxypyridinium dioxido(pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylato-κ3O2,N,O6)vanadate(V), (C5H7N2O)[V(C7H3NO4)O2] or [H(amino-3-OH-py)][VO2(dipic)], (I), was prepared by the reaction of VCl3with dipicolinic acid (dipicH2) and 2-amino-3-hydroxypyridine (amino-3-OH-py) in water. The compound was characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy and X-ray structure analysis, and consists of an anionic [VO2(dipic)]−complex and an H(amino-3-OH-py)+counter-cation. The VVion is five-coordinated by oneO,N,O′-tridentate dipic dianionic ligand and by two oxide ligands. Thermal decomposition of (I) in the presence of polyethylene glycol led to the formation of nanoparticles of V2O5. Powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were used to characterize the structure and morphology of the synthesized powder.

A facile one-pot hydrothermal method has been developed for synthesis of porous and non-porous BaTiO3 ceramics using Ba(OH)2.8H2O, BaCO3 as barium source. In this paper, we research the effect of different barium source on the nanostructure of BaTiO3 ceramics in a solid state reaction, and the results indicated that the two different morphologies of BaTiO3 ceramics can be easily prepared by using these two different barium source. The phase composition and morphology of the as-obtained products were investigated by X-ray diffraction and field emission scanning electron microscopy (SEM).

A new composite coagulant polymeric aluminum zinc ferric (PAZF) was synthesized from industrial wastes. The structure and morphology of the coagulant was characterized by X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Infrared Spectroscopy (IR) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and the coagulation performances were evaluated by dyeing-printing wastewater treatment. The results show that new complex compounds are formed in PAZF. Compared with poly aluminum chloride (PAC), the contents of ionic polymerized bonds and the cross-copolymerization among Fe (III), Al (III) and Zn (II) hydroxyl polymerized bonds are increase obviously, and the surface morphology of PAZF presents a net-like structure with the longer molecular chain. Coagulation experiments indicate that PAZF exhibits better coagulation performance in removing turbidity, COD and chromaticity.

Hematite coated PEG was synthesized by the sonication-calcination method. A variation of Na2CO3 is investigated to know the effect on structure and morphology. Characterization of samples are using X-ray fluorescence, X-ray diffraction, Scanning electron microscopy, and color reader techniques. XRF data showed that iron is the highest element in the precursor. The X-ray diffraction data confirm that Fe(OH)3, α-FeOOH, and Fe3O4 established at the sonication stage are then transformed into the α-Fe2O3 phase after calcination. The X-ray diffraction data also was found that α-Fe2O3 at 0.5 M formed with the highest crystallinity degree. The scanning electron microscopy showed that the particle's shape is spherical, bar-shaped, and aggregate. However, the distribution of particles is not uniform and still displays agglomeration. The Color reader shows the highest degree of lightness obtained is at 1 M variation.

The organization of nanostructures across extended length scales is a key challenge in the design of integrated materials with advanced functions. PbZr0.52Ti0.48O3multilayer disks which were constructed by oriented rectangle nanoparticles were easily prepared by a simple surfactant-free hydrothermal process. The as-prepared powders were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results indicated that the as-prepared PZT disks were constructed by self-assembly of rectangle nanoparticles by a perfect manner. The formation mechanism of the products was discussed.

Using polymer as a surfactant, we successfully synthesized of PbTiO3 crystals with a self-assembly structure by a hydrothermal process. The as-obtained powders were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results show that the presence of PVP, PEG and PVA plays a key role on the formation of self-assembly structure and the corresponding formation mechanism was briefly discussed.

ABSTRACTThe CuInSe2 and CuSbSe2 ternary compounds and alloys of the (CuSbSe2)1-x·(CuInSe2)x system with the mole fraction of CuInSe2 (x) equal to 0.05, 0.15, 0.25, 0.375, 0.50, 0.625, 0.75, 0.85, and 0.95 were prepared and the phase relations in this system were investigated by X-ray powder diffraction, optical microscopy, and scanning electron microscopy. It was shown that the alloys of the CuSbSe2-CuInSe2 system are biphasic at room temperature in the whole range of compositions, and the limits of solubility for CuSbSe2 in CuInSe2 and for CuInSe2 in CuSbSe2 do not exceed 0.001 mole fraction.

The interaction in the systemsMII2P4O12-MICl (MINO3) (MI– Li, Na, K;MII– Mg, Co, Ni, Zn) was investigated in temperature range 1073-673 K. The conditions of formation phosphates: Li3PO4,MIMIIPO4(MI– Na, K), Na4MII3(PO4)2P2O7, Na9Co3(PO4)5have been established. Obtained crystalline phases have been investigated using X-ray powder diffraction, Diffuse reflectance, Raman and FTIR spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy methods.

AbstractThe adsorption of methylene blue (MB) on montmorillonite from acid solutions has not yet been studied in detail. In this paper the adsorption of this dye on Ca/SAz montmorillonite from 0.32, 0.80 and 1.60 M HCl solutions at ambient temperature and after 2 hours leaching was carefully studied and evaluated. Under the above conditions the MB/SAz intercalates formed are practically insoluble. In contrast to the adsorption of methylene blue on montmorillonite from aqueous solutions, the adsorption from acid solutions consists of two adsorption waves. The intercalated samples from the first and second waves were studied using X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), FTIR, Vis spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) equipped with a microprobe system. The adsorption of MB in the first wave is attributed to ion exchange of the dye cationic species (MB+, MB22+, H-aggregates, MBH2+ and H+) for the original interlayer cations of montmorillonite. The percentages of MBH2+ and H+ based on total adsorbed MB were estimated for varying HCl concentrations. The second adsorption wave is linked to the precipitation of MB species on the outer MB/SAz surface.
