The relaxor ferroelectric Pb ( Mg 1/3 Nb 2/3) O 3– PbTiO 3 compositions are of interest owing to their excellent dielectric, electromechanical, electro-optical, and other properties. In this paper, the 0.80 Pb ( Mg 1/3 Nb 2/3) O 3–0.20 PbTiO 3 (PMN–PT 80/20) films with pure perovskite structure were synthesized by a single step at 150°C. The corresponding oxides were used as starting materials, namely PbO , MgO , Nb 2 O 5, and TiO 2. By using oxides as precursors, we simplified the hydrothermal process, allowing the process to be more economical. The influences of the Ti metal substrate on the PMN–PT 80/20 films are investigated. By surveying the variations of films, it was suggested that the substrate reacted with the ions in the solution. The films were smooth and homogeneous. There were no cracks and abnormity crystals on the surface of the films. The thickness was about 20 μm. The frequencies dependence of the dielectric properties of PMN–PT 80/20 films was stable even at a high frequency range over 1 MHz.

Ni0.8Zn0.2Fe2O4/Ba0.6Sr0.4TiO3 (NZO/BST) composites with high permittivity and low loss were synthesized via the hybrid processing route. The composites possess very dense and homogenous microstructure. The NZO/BST composites show good dielectric properties and magnetic properties with low loss in high frequency range. This indicates that this kind of magnetodielectric composites can be used in high-frequency communications for the capacitor-inductor integrating devices such as electromagnetic interference filters and antennas. The permittivities of the composites were also fitted using the combination of Maxwell–Wagner polarization and modified Curie–Weiss law.

The dielectric properties of CCTO with addition Al2O3 prepared via solid state reaction investigated and reported at 1 GHz. With addition Al2O3 from 20 wt% to 80 wt%, secondary phase starts appear in XRD analysis such as copper dialuminium oxide (CuAl2O4), calcium titanate (CaTiO3) and titanium oxide (TiO2). These secondary phases show great influence on morphology and grain size of Al2O3/ CCTO composites. Hence, the addition of only 20 wt% Al2O3, the dielectric constant of CCTO reduce almost 50% and tangent loss is in between 0.0028 to 0.0630 which is very low and this characterization is suitable to use in electronic application in high frequency range.

Relaxor ferroelectric Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3 (PMN) crystals were grown at low temperature by a single-step hydrothermal process, using the mixture of PbO, MgO and Nb2O5 as precursors. The precursors were just heated to 150 oC for 24 h. The effect of the KOH concentration on the morphology and microstructure of PMN crystals was systematically investigated. The optimum KOH concentration was found to be 11M, which led to the stabilization of the perovskite crystals against the pyrochlore phase, and to the growth of high-quality PMN crystals suitable for subsequent characterization. According to morphological evolution during the reaction, two possible growth mechanisms are proposed. When the KOH concentration is 11M, at the early stage of the reaction, the starting materials dissolve, and then promote the formation of spherical intermediate pyrochlore phase followed by the formation of primary cubic PMN crystals. At the same time, a platelet-shaped intermediate pyrochlore phase also forms and then grows into larger platelet-shaped PMN crystals.

The phase structure, and electrical and magnetic properties of La0.7Sr0.3MnO3(LSMO)-xAg (xis the mole ratio,x=0, 0.3, 0.5) composite were investigated. It is found that the sample withx=0 is single phase; the samples withx=0.3 and 0.5 present three phase composite structure of the manganese oxide and Ag. With the increasing of Ag content, the grain size of the samples increases and the grain boundaries transition from fully faceted to partially faceted. The permittivity of spectrum (10 MHz - 1 GHz) and the theoretical simulation reveal that the plasma frequencyfpincrease with Ag content, due to the increasing of free electron concentration, which is further supported by the enhancement of conductivity. While for the permeability (μr'), theμr'decrease with the increasing of Ag content at low frequency range (f< 20 MHz), while at the relative high frequency range (f> 300 MHz), theμr'increased with Ag content. Therefore, the introduction of elemental Ag resulted in a higherμr'at the relative high frequency range.
