Intense competition has made it critical for airlines to retain its highly capable staff by ensuring the highest job satisfaction of its employees. This competition has resulted from the emergence of budget airlines focussed on a niche market. To provide a differentiated passenger experience whilst flying with airlines, the management should ensure that all the staff, including ground level and cabin crew, who are the initial contact point with customers are highly satisfied in terms of their job roles. The study evaluates human resource (HR) factors affecting job satisfaction with a given (anonymous) airline. A detailed study and analysis of major factors contributing to job satisfaction in the said airline was carried out. In analysing the relationship and current level of job satisfaction, the study uses a quantitative approach, with primary data obtained from questionnaires completed by employees in one of the airlines. Further, the study has identified independent variables as being financial rewards and recognition, training and development, and work environment. Statistical tools, such as correlation and regression analysis, are used to evaluate the responses from questionnaires and to provide significance of the independent variables contributing to job satisfaction.

To verify the factors affecting the intention to subscribe to voluntary social insurance of farmers in Phu Yen Province, the study made use of primary data collected from the survey on 325 farmer households in 4 localities in Phu Yen. Employing a model with 7 independent variables, we found that the intention to voluntary subscription to social insurance of Phu Yen farmers is determined by 5 factors, including “Awareness of voluntary social insurance policy”, “Attitude towards subscription”, “Risk awareness”, “Subscription procedures”, and “Moral responsibility”. Based on this result, we propose some policies to encourage farmers in Phu Yen to voluntarily participate in social insurance, in particular renewing organizing quality, raising farmers’ awareness of the necessity for voluntary social insurance, improving policy mechanisms and strengthening the State’s management.

The purpose of this research was to conduct a comparison of the push and pull factors affecting migration between Poland and Romania. The study aimed to find out which among the push and pull factors have a greater effect overall and individually on the migration activities. The study was conducted using primary data collected from migrants in both countries using a structured questionnaire. There were data from 298 and 288 surveys for Poland and Romania, respectively. The push and pull migration framework was applied to guide the study. The model suitability was confirmed satisfactory on validity, reliability and factor analysis. The hypothesis was analyzed and evaluated using multiple regression analysis. The findings of the study indicated that pull factors have a greater influence on migration in these two countries as compared to the push factors. Five out of six (economic, political and social in Poland and economic and political in Romania) pull factors were found significant as compared to two (social in Poland and in Romania) out of six push factors. Pull economic factors were significant determinants of migration in all the countries. Pull political factors were found to have the highest effect in both countries, because they influenced migrants in Romania. Economic factors are the major factors that influence migration, including the hope of finding better jobs and better life in the foreign countries, and these factors should be addressed in the effort to reduce migration. In addition, political issues such as unfair legal system, violent conflicts, underdevelopment, poverty, political instability and corruption should be addressed to control the issue of migration.

Employee performance has a huge effect on success of modern organization. Employees are considered as backbone for any organization that cannot be emulated from the competition, therefore employee performance should be considered major valuable resource. This study has focused on the banking sector where employees’ performance having huge impact on organization. For this purpose, we chose two banks from Pakistan for acquisition, one is Bank Islami Pakistan Ltd and second KASB Bank were chosen, their acquisition took place on 8th of May 2015. In this study, the employees’ performance was examined on the bases of few factors like an organizational cultural change, communication between the acquirer and target bank, organizational change managed by the acquirer firm, and job satisfaction of both the acquirer and the target banks’ employees. We collected the Primary data by using the questionnaire methodology where we collected data from 200 respondents of both banks representing the overall population of the acquirer bank and target bank. The findings of this study were interpreted with the help of Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), which were used to find the impact of independent variables; cultural change, communication gap, organizational change and job satisfaction on dependent variable(s) which is employees’ performance. The outcome of our questionnaires data shows that proper management of independent variables can decrease the level of anxiety amongst employees, which affect the industry making a successful acquisition.

The study involved assessing the antecedents of job satisfaction level of the employees and identifying the most significant factors influencing the same. The findings suggest that the major factors affecting the satisfaction among the academic employees remain the job challenges, concern for the performance evaluation methods used, and the lack of role clarity in the institutions. This study examines Roberts and O'Reilly's scales measuring trust in the immediate superior, desire for promotion, and perceived supervisory influence for 2700 personnel in a soft-goods company. These measures are particularly important since these variables have traditionally been identified as major factors affecting communications within organizations. Results partially support use of these scales. However, methodological difficulties with these scales are also pointed out, and it is suggested that they need further development.

The internet has undoubtedly become crucial to global growth as it vectors lots of opportunities. This study was motivated by the perception that Nigerian consumers prefer traditional over virtual shopping despite having internet access. This study sought to investigate the factors affecting the online buying behaviour of consumers in Abuja Metropolis. The study used purposive and convenience sampling technique to select 352 respondents. Primary data was collected with the aid of structured questionnaires. The data collected was analyzed using multiple regression analysis with the aid of the SPSS statistical tool. The study found that while on-time delivery has a positive and significant effect on the online buying behaviour of consumers in Abuja Metropolis, product quality was found to have a positive and insignificant effect on the online buying behaviour of consumers in Abuja Metropolis while the perceived risk was found to have a negative and significant effect on the online buying behaviour of consumers in Abuja Metropolis. The study concludes that on-time delivery, product quality, and perceived risk are the major factors affecting the online buying behaviour of consumers in Abuja Metropolis. The study, therefore, recommends that there is a need for companies utilizing online platforms for business operations to align the advantages of online shopping with traditional means of purchase, speed up the delivery processes, and as much as maintaining a high degree of confidentiality regarding their customer’s information during the process of online payment. Keywords: online buying behaviour, product quality, on-time delivery, perceived risk.

Purpose This paper aims to identify the factors that can affect the overall graduate employability (OGE) of the private university graduates of Bangladesh. The authors carefully selected six such employable factors after searching the existing literature. Those six factors: academic performance (AP), technical skills (TS), communication skills (CS), personality (PE), leadership & motivational skills (LMS); and teamwork and problem solving skills (TPSS), had been considered as the independent variables while OGE had been considered as the single dependent variable. Design/methodology/approach The authors collected the primary data from a valid sample of 360 employers through a structured questionnaire working as the hiring managers. Those respondents were selected on a random basis. The authors used exploratory factor analysis to validate the items under those independent variables and structural equation modeling with AMOS (24) to test the hypothesized relationship between each independent variable and the dependent one. Findings After proper statistical analysis, the results revealed that AP, PE, CS and TPSS can positively and significantly influence the OGE of Bangladeshi graduates while LMS and TS have positive but insignificant influence over OGE. Research limitations/implications Based on the findings, this paper can help scholars in further investigating the employability factors. Practical implications This explorative study will guide the fresh graduates in developing their required employability skills while assisting the employers in recruiting suitable candidates with the required skills and performance. Originality/value This is one of the few attempts that focused on the employability factors of private university graduates in Bangladesh. The authors are well confident that this empirical paper can shed some light on the fresh graduates’ employability and conducting further investigations on it.
