In this article, a stochastic SIR-type model for COVID-19 epidemic is built using the standard field theoretical language based on creation and annihilation operators. From the model, we derive the time evolution of the mean number of infectious (active cases) and deceased individuals. In order to capture the effects of lockdown and social distancing, we use a time-dependent infection rate. The results are in good agreement with the data for three different waves of epidemic activity in South Korea.

A microscopic mean-field description of heavy ions fusion is performed in the framework of the Time-Dependent Hartree-Fock (TDHF) theory using a Skyrme interaction with the SLy 4d parametrization. A good agreement with experiments is obtained on the position of the fusion barriers for various total masses, mass asymmetries and deformations. The excitation function of the 16 O +208 Pb is overestimated by about 16% above the barrier. The restriction to an independent particles state in the mean-field dynamics prevents the description of sub-barrier fusion. Effect of transfer on fusion is discussed.

Abstract We consider the time-dependent analysis of Bd→ KSℓℓ taking into account the time-evolution of the Bd meson and its mixing into $$ {\overline{B}}_d $$ B ¯ d . We discuss the angular conventions required to define the angular observables in a transparent way with respect to CP conjugation. The inclusion of time evolution allows us to identify six new observables, out of which three could be accessed from a time-dependent tagged analysis. We also show that these observables could be obtained by time-integrated measurements in a hadronic environment if flavour tagging is available. We provide simple and precise predictions for these observables in the SM and in NP models with real contributions to SM and chirally flipped operators, which are independent of form factors and charm-loop contributions. As such, these observables provide robust and powerful cross-checks of the New Physics scenarios currently favoured by global fits to b → sℓℓ data. In addition, we discuss the sensitivity of these observables with respect to NP scenarios involving scalar and tensor operators, or CP-violating phases. We illustrate how these new observables can provide a benchmark to discriminate among the various NP scenarios in b → sμμ. We discuss the extension of these results for Bs decays into f0, η or η′.

Background:Palindromic rheumatism (PR) has known to be three patterns of disease course: clinical remission of attacks, persistent attacks, and evolution to chronic arthritis or systemic disease. The spectrum in progression to chronic diseases of PR, however, is quite variable; rheumatoid arthritis (RA), systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), systemic sclerosis (SSc), Sjögren’s syndrome (SjS), ankylosing spondylitis (AS), relapsing polychondritis (RP), Behçet’s disease (BD), sarcoidosis, and psoriatic spondylitis and arthropathy. Because of the small numbers in case-control studies and too aged investigations, now we needs to shed new light on the fate of PR.Objectives:The aim was to investigate the epidemiology of PR and the risk of developing various rheumatic diseases compared with non-PR individuals, employing the National Health Insurance Service (NHIS) medical claims data, which covers all medical institutions of South Korea.Methods:The study used 2007-2018 claims data from the Korean Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service (HIRA). The identified 19,724 PR patients from 2010 to 2016 were assessed for the incidence rate (IR) compared with the population in the given year by 100,000 person-year (py). The date of diagnosis was the index date. After matching with non-PR individuals (1:10) for age, sex and the year of index date, we calculated the hazard ratios (HRs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs). The risk of developing the various rheumatic diseases and adult immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) as the outcome diseases in PR cohort was estimated. This risk was compared with that of matched non-PR cohort.Results:Of 19,724 PR patients (8,665 males and 11,059 females), the mean age was 50.2 ± 14.9 years (47.7 ± 14.4 years in males and 52.6 ± 14.9 years in females,p< 0.001). The ratio of male to female patients with PR was approximately 1:1.28. The annual IR of PR was 7.02 (6.92-7.12) per 100,000 py (6.22 (6.09-6.35) and 7.80 (7.66-7.95) per 100,000 py in males and females, respectively). The mean duration to develop the outcome diseases was significantly shorter in PR cohort compared that of non-PR cohort (19.4 vs. 35.8 months,p< 0.001). The most common outcome disease was RA (7.34% of PR patients; 80.0% of total outcome diseases), followed by AS, SLE, BD, SjS, MCTD, DM/PM, SSc, RP, psoriatic arthropathy, and AIDS in PR cohort. The patients with PR had an increased risk of RA (HR 46.6, 95% CI [41.1-52.7]), psoriatic arthropathy (44.79 [15.2-132.4]), SLE (24.5 [16.2-37.2]), MCTD (22.0 [7.7-63.3]), BD (21.0 [13.8-32.1]), SjS (12.4 [8.5-17.9]), AS (9.0 [6.7-12.2]), DM/PM (6.1 [2.6-14.8]), and SSc (3.8 [1.5-9.6]) but not of AIDS. The risk of developing RA was greater in male patients (HR 58.9, 95% CI [45.6-76.2] vs. 43.2 [37.4-49.8],pfor interaction = 0.037) while female patients encountered a higher risk of developing AS (15.8 [8.9-28.1] vs. 7.2 [5.0-10.3],pfor interaction = 0.023). The risk of developing RA, SLE, SjS, and BD were significantly more highly affected in younger age (pfor interaction < 0.001, = 0.003, 0.002, and 0.017, at each).Conclusion:This nationwide, population-based cohort study demonstrated that patients with PR had an increased risk of developing various rheumatic diseases, not only RA but also psoriatic arthropathy. Therefore, patients with PR needs to be cautiously followed up for their potential of diverse outcome other than RA: RA, SLE, SjS, and BD in younger patients, RA in males, and AS in females, in particular.Disclosure of Interests:None declared

We prove that a stochastic process of pure coagulation has at any timet≥ 0 a time-dependent Gibbs distribution if and only if the rates ψ(i,j) of single coagulations are of the form ψ(i;j) =if(j) +jf(i), wherefis an arbitrary nonnegative function on the set of positive integers. We also obtain a recurrence relation for weights of these Gibbs distributions that allow us to derive the general form of the solution and the explicit solutions in three particular cases of the functionf. For the three corresponding models, we study the probability of coagulation into one giant cluster by timet&gt; 0.

In the present study, a numerical investigation is carried out for an isothermal case, a hot case and a cold case with FLUENT code. Three turbulence models are considered: the k-ε realisable model, the RNG k-ε model and the RSM linear model. The obtained results are compared to experiments and show generally a good agreement for the mean velocities and temperatures, but less satisfactory for the turbulent stress. The performance of the RSM model is remarkable. Even if none of the models is able to give the exact experimental pattern on the map of turbulence, the RSM model seems able to predict such configuration.

Abstract Ship collision accidents occur from time to time in recent years, and this would cause serious consequences such as casualties, environmental pollution, loss of cargo on board, damage to the ship and its equipment, etc. Therefore, it is of great significance to study the response of ship motion and the mechanism of structural damage during the collision. In this paper, model experiments and numerical simulation are used to study the ship-ship collision. Firstly, the Coupled Eulerian-Lagrangian (CEL) was used to simulate the fluid-structure interaction for predicting structural deformation and ship motion during the normal ship-ship collision. Meanwhile, a series of model tests were carried out to validate the numerical results. The validation presented that the CEL simulation was in good agreement with the model test. However, the CEL simulation could not present the characteristics the time-dependent added mass.

1. The O2 consumption and CO2 release of nine giant tortoises Testudo gigantea (weight range 118 g-35·5 kg) were measured at a temperature of about 25·5°C. Four European tortoises Testudo hermanni (weight range 640 g-2·16 kg) were also used. The mean RQ values obtained were 1·01 for T. gigantea and 0·97 for T. hermanni. These values were not influenced by activity or size. 2. The data was analysed by plotting log/log regression lines relating body weight to O2 consumption. Both maximum and minimum metabolic rates recorded for each individual T. gigantea showed a negative correlation with body weight. For active rates the relation was O2 consumption = 140·8W0·97, whereas for inactive animals O2 consumption = 45·47W0·82. 3. The maximum rates were obtained from animals that were observed to be active in the respirometer and the minimum rates from animals that remained quiet throughout. The scope for activity increased with body size, being 82 ml/kg/h for animals of 100 g and 103 ml/kg/h for 100 kg animals. The corresponding ratio between maximum and minimum rates increases from about 2 to 6 for the same weight range. 4. Values for metabolic rate in T. hermanni seem to be rather lower than in T. gigantea. Analysis of the relative proportion of the shell and other organs indicates that the shell forms about 31% of the body weight in adult T. hermanni but only about 18% in T. gigantea of similar size. The shell is not appreciably heavier in adult T. gigantea (about 20%). 5. Data obtained for inactive animals is in good agreement with results of other workers using lizards and snakes. Previous evidence suggesting that chelonians show no reduction in metabolic rate with increasing size is not considered to conflict with data obtained in the present work.

Abstract. Decadal trends in the atmospheric abundances of carbon tetrafluoride (CF4) and nitrogen trifluoride (NF3) have been well characterised and have provided a time series of global total emissions. Information on locations of emissions contributing to the global total, however, is currently poor. We use a unique set of measurements between 2008 and 2015 from the Gosan station, Jeju Island, South Korea (part of the Advanced Global Atmospheric Gases Experiment network), together with an atmospheric transport model, to make spatially disaggregated emission estimates of these gases in East Asia. Due to the poor availability of good prior information for this study, our emission estimates are largely influenced by the atmospheric measurements. Notably, we are able to highlight emission hotspots of NF3 and CF4 in South Korea due to the measurement location. We calculate emissions of CF4 to be quite constant between the years 2008 and 2015 for both China and South Korea, with 2015 emissions calculated at 4.3±2.7 and 0.36±0.11 Gg yr−1, respectively. Emission estimates of NF3 from South Korea could be made with relatively small uncertainty at 0.6±0.07 Gg yr−1 in 2015, which equates to ∼1.6 % of the country's CO2 emissions. We also apply our method to calculate emissions of CHF3 (HFC-23) between 2008 and 2012, for which our results find good agreement with other studies and which helps support our choice in methodology for CF4 and NF3.

Using the recent ISR data of proton–proton interactions on the inclusive production of pions and nucleons, realistic values of the mean pion inelasticity Kπ and the mean nucleon inelasticity KT have been estimated. These values have been used for the derivation of the sea level differential muon spectrum from the primary nucleon spectrum and vice versa using the CKP model as an extension of the work presented in an earlier article. It is found that none of the measured primary nucleon spectra of Ryan, Ormes, and Balasubrahmanyan and Grigorov, Rapoport, and Shestoperov fit any of the precisely measured muon spectra of Ayre, Baxendale, Hume, Nandi, Thompson, and Whalley and Allkofer, Carstensen, and Dau in spectral shape or the absolute value. On the other hand good agreement between the derived muon spectra and the spectra of Allkofer et al. and Ayre et al. is found if the primary nucleon spectra of the forms, N(Ep) = (1.38 ± 0.08)Ep−2.59 and N(Ep) = (1.00 ± 0.10)Ep−2.55, respectively, are assumed. The first form is comparable with that obtained by Brooke, Hayman, Kamiya, and Wolfendale following more approximate but similar procedure. It is also not unjustified when compared with the measured primary all nuclei spectrum of Grigorov et al. in the light of suggestions made by Ellsworth, Ito, Macfall, Siohan, Streitmatter, Tonwar, Vishwanath, Yodh, and Balasubrahmanyan. By comparing the pion production spectra derived from the same primary nucleon spectrum but using the CKP and the scaling models, it is concluded that the results are sensitive to the model assumed for the collisions.
