PurposeExisting literature has reported a barrier list that could affect the implementation of digital transformation in higher education, yet the research question of how to identify barriers remained unanswered. Thus, this study intended to address this gap.Design/methodology/approachThe research design adopted a mixed-methods approach based on the problem-centered design science research (DSR) process model for the development and evaluation of framework.FindingsThis study proposed a systematic framework of three sets of components: (1) the initial set of barriers; (2) the barrier rating scheme and (3) the barrier scoring matrix. The three-component of the framework is to identify and prioritize barriers to the successful implementation of digital transformation in higher education.Research limitations/implicationsThe evaluation of the framework was only based on an expert opinion.Practical implicationsThis study provided a direction to the policymakers for designing sensible strategies to increase the chances of a successful digital transformation in higher education.Originality/valueThis study contributes to the knowledge body by offering a more systematic understanding of barriers to digital transformation in higher education.

Aim. The presented study aims to develop and describe a contract management system for FMCG chain retailing companies in the context of the digital transformation of the economy.Tasks. The authors examine the specific aspects of developing a contract management system for chain retailing companies; develop a classification of contracts by sector of activity and outline the landscape of the contract management process; create and describe a system for managing contracts.Methods. The methodological basis of this study includes conceptual representations of the contract management system, which make it possible to apply a systems approach, generalization, grouping, methods of formal system representation, and socio-economic experimentation.Results. The study examines the specific aspects of developing a contract management system for chain retailing companies in the context of the digital transformation of the economy, describing the major types of contracts used by these companies. The contracts are classified by sector of activity, and the landscape of the contract management process is outlined. Its individual units correspond to the Deming cycle and represent a cyclically repeating decision-making process.Conclusions. As a result, a contract management system for chain retailing companies is proposed, and the relationship between the management subsystem and the system of requirements for the architecture of business services in the field of contract management is determined. It is shown that successful implementation of an efficient contract management system requires preliminary work to identify requirements for the architecture of business services. Taking into account these requirements in the modeling of architectural solutions and integrating them into the business architecture will ensure high-quality contract management through the optimization of the company’s resources and highly efficient regulation of the relationship between the stakeholders and counterparties of chain retailing companies.

Аbstract. The current state of the implementation of digital technologies in Ukraine and the world in the context of the information economy development is studied. The key differences are identified, the need for systematic action at both regional and national levels for the effective implementation of digitalization is substantiated. Data on the level of the digital economy development in Ukraine in general, and in the regions in particular, as well as examples of successful implementation of digitalization in some countries, are presented. It is investigated that Ukraine is one of the first places in Europe in terms of population with the Internet access. It is established that the process of digitalization of Ukraine’s economy is qualitatively different from that in developed countries. In the context of rapid development of information economy in order to bridge the existing gap with developed countries in the digitalization process, Ukraine needs to implement a number of measures, including: creating a regulatory framework for digital economy, introducing and promoting digital platforms and services for business and population, establishing education systems in order to effectively train specialists in the digital age, creating an effective digital infrastructure, promoting the implementation of Industry 4.0 technologies in industry, etc.  The implementation of the proposed actions will bring Ukraine closer to the digitalization level of developed countries and increase social and economic development of the state. The article outlines the components of digital transformation of the regions of Ukraine, among which the emphasis is on creating an effective digital infrastructure; the introduction of Industry 4.0 technologies in industry; e-government and training of the workforce according to the requirements of digital economy. Abstract The article presents the development of the agro-industrial complex taking into account innovations in the field of digitalization of technological processes of the food industry. The tasks of digitalization, the evolution of the industry are described, digital technologies introduced into the processes of the food industry, the introduction of smart production, Big Data technologies, machine vision, additive technologies are listed. Examples of the introduction of digital technologies in different countries are shown. The factors limiting the introduction of digital technologies, lack of personnel, unstable economy, psychological and organizational factors, and lack of international standards in the field of digital transformation are shown. Production statistics are widely used to identify bottlenecks in production, search for hidden reserves and determine the reasons for reducing the efficiency of equipment. Blockchain technologies are beginning to be used in the production of food. Distributed registry systems help to increase the transparency of all stages. Successful implementation requires the interest of all participants in the production chain (from the farmer to the consumer). Digital transformation in Russia began to pay serious attention relatively recently, most of the projects are under implementation. Various innovations introduced in the food production and the food industry are reflected.

Internet of Things (IoT) is an information exchange system between computing devices and people over a network. Because IoT is new to Saudi Arabia (SA), no business model in the public sector provides it, making it difficult to adopt. The results of 55 studies show that one challenge for adopting IoT in SA is a lack of a consistency in designing a dynamic solutions architecture to coordinate the required support to integrate IoT into the SA digital transformation plan. Another challenge is a lack of government standards. This study summarizes the problems that researchers and developers face in managing IoT activities for a dynamic solutions architecture for Saudi Vision 2030. It explores how to define a dynamic solutions architecture for any IT platform, based on design, implementation, experimental validation, and evaluation of the effects on system quality. To begin, this study provides an overview of IoT and details to enable IoT technologies for public and private sectors to help achieve Saudi Vision 2030.

The study analyzes the nature of the modernization of the enterprise, identifies the factors that determine the need for its implementation in relation to Russian industrial enterprises, which were forced to miss several cycles of renewal as a result of the national economy reformation. It is necessary to comprehensively transform their material and technical bases to produce innovative, competitive products in the face of global uncertainties and increased competition on the target markets. The purpose of the study is to prove that the modernization of industrial enterprises is based on the transformation of their material and technical base, regular updating of fixed assets in order to eliminate their moral depreciation and the successful implementation of digital transformation. As a result, the study of the processes and algorithms for justifying the renewal and modernization of the formation of funds at the expense of internal sources of the enterprise investments. An approach to the assessment of their capabilities and importance to ensure the financing of modernization projects is proposed. Methods of statistical and comparative analysis, quantitative and qualitative analysis of economic phenomena and management of industrial enterprises were used to solve the set tasks. The characteristics of changes in profit, return on fixed assets and depreciation as sources of investments, depending on the dynamics of interest rates and inflation, are determined. The directions of increasing the importance of internal sources of enterprise investments for the implementation of its modernization projects are proposed. Key conclusions: it is necessary to build a comprehensive mechanism for managing the depreciation process of enterprises as its reproduction and modernization core. It is also necessary to ensure the targeted use of depreciation and the minimum return on funds accumulated by owners in the depreciation fund.
