Solvothermal reaction of 4,4’,4’-nitrilotribenzoic acid (H3TCA) with Ca(NO3)2·4H2O and Cd(NO3)2·4H2O successfully afforded a heterometallic compound, that is, [Cd2Ca(TCA)2(DMA)2(H2O)3]n·2n(DMA) (1, DMA = N,N’-dimethylacetamide). The structure of 1 was further characterized through EA, diffraction of single crystal X-ray, and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) together with powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD). Moreover, complex 1’s luminescent performance in solid state was also discussed at environmental temperature. The applications on the ischemic cerebral infarction therapy were evaluated, and the specific mechanism was investigated at the same time. Firstly, the hypersensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) content in human brain microvascular endothelial cell (HBMEC) was measured with real-time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). Then, interleukin-18 and interleukin-1β content released through the HBMEC was detected with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).

A new Mn(II)-based metal–organic coordination polymer (CP), [Mn(DCTA)(L)(H2O)2]·(H2O) (1), was synthesized by self-assembly of Mn(OAc)2·4H2O with 1,4-bis(benzimidazol-1-ylmethyl)-benzene (L) and 2,5-dimercaptoterephthalic acid (H2DCTA). Furthermore, a refluxing treatment method was used to prepare the nanostructure 1 with good size distribution. Furthermore, the treatment effect of nano 1 on cerebral infarction was evaluated. Firstly, the real time RT-PCR was performed and the relative expression levels of the hs-CRP in human brain microvascular endothelial cell (HBMEC) was measured. Next, the content of the interleukin-1β (IL-1β) and interleukin-18 (IL-18) released by the HBMEC was detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) detection kit.

Abstract Here, a new indium (In)-based coordination polymer [In(hip)](DMF)2(H2O)3 (1, DMF=N,N-dimethylformamide) was successfully prepared by a solvothermal reaction of In(NO3)3·6H2O and 5-hydroxyisophthalic acid (H3hip) in a mixed solvent of DMF and H2O with the presence of NaCl as a template. Complex 1 was characterized by elemental analysis (EA), single-crystal X-ray crystallography, and powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), and the results reveal that complex 1 shows a two-dimensional (2D) grid-like network with considerable solvent accessible volume that was generated from the packing of the 2D layers via the AB pattern. Furthermore, complex 1 could be downsized into nanoscale particles with the aid of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP). In addition, the anticancer activities of 1 and the nanoscale 1 were probed via the 3-(4,5)-dimethylthiahiazo (-z-y1)-3,5-di-phenytetrazoliumromide (MTT) assay.

Abstract Background: Neonatal sepsis is a systemic inflammatory response syndrome in neonates. The molecular mechanism of neonatal sepsis remains incompletely clarified. The purpose of this study was to explore the potential value of receptor interacting protein 3 (RIP3) in neonatal sepsis. Methods: 93 neonates with sepsis and 93 neonates without infectious diseases were enrolled in this study from September 2019 to March 2021. Plasma RIP3 was detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and assessed along with whole blood hypersensitive C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) and platelet count (PLT). Differences of RIP3, hs-CRP and PLT between the two groups were compared. Changes of the three indicators in sepsis were also observed after treatment. The diagnostic value of indicators for neonatal sepsis was evaluated by receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. Results: In sepsis group, RIP3 and hs-CRP levels were significantly higher than those in control group (RIP3, p < 0.0001; hs-CRP, p < 0.0001), and PLT level was significantly lower than that in control group (p<0.0001). After treatment, RIP3 and hs-CRP levels among septic survivors had a significant decrease (p<0.0001) and PLT level had a significant improvement (p=0.0028). With RIP3>15464.72 pg/mL, CRP>3.24 mg/L, PLT<205.00×109 /L as the positive criteria, the sensitivity of the three indicators in the diagnosis of neonatal sepsis was 68.8%, 64.5%, 59.1%, and the specificity was 91.4%, 82.8%, 79.6%, respectively. The combination of RIP3, CRP and PLT showed 76.3% sensitivity and 94.6% sensitivity. Conclusions: RIP3 may attribute to the early diagnosis and understanding therapeutic effect of neonatal sepsis. The combined detection of RIP3, CRP and PLT may be more effective than individual ones in the diagnosis of neonatal sepsis.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the function of the renin–angiotensin–aldosterone system (RAAS) in normal tension glaucoma (NTG) patients by measuring the level of renin and angiotensin II (AngII) in the plasma. Twenty-four patients with NTG and 38 control subjects were included in this study. Renin and AngII were measured in the blood samples of all subjects by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). No significant differences were found in the complete blood count, fasting glucose, low-density lipoprotein (LDL), and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) levels between the control and NTG groups. The systemic concentration and variability of the renin concentration in the blood was significantly higher in the NTG group (p = 0.005 and 0.005, respectively). According to multivariate logistic regression analysis, the variability of the renin concentration was associated with NTG (p = 0.006). In conclusion, the systemic concentration and variability of renin levels were elevated in NTG patients. An altered renin concentration could represent a difference in RAAS function in NTG patients.

The new rigid planar ligand 2,5-bis(3-(pyridine-4-yl)phenyl)thiazolo[5,4-d]thiazole (BPPT) has been synthesized, which is an excellent building block for assembling coordination polymer. Under solvothermal reaction conditions, cadmium ion with BPPT in the presence of various carboxylic acids including (1,1′-biphenyl)-4,4′-dicarboxylic acid (BPDC), isophthalic acid (IP), and benzene-1,3,5-tricarboxylic acid (BTC) gave rise to three coordination complexes, viz, [Cd(BPPT)(BPDA)](BPPT)n (1), [Cd(BPPT) (IP)] (CH3OH) (2), and [Cd3(BPPT)3(BTC)2(H2O)2] (3). The structures of 1, 2, and 3 were characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction. The IR spectra as well as thermogravimetric and luminescence properties were also investigated. Complex 1 is a two-dimensional (2D) network and further stretched to a 3D supramolecular structure through π–π stacking interaction. The complexes 2 and 3 show 3D framework. The complexes 1, 2, and 3 exhibited luminescence property at room temperature.

Three new coordination polymers, {[Ln(cbb)(Hcbb)(DMF)·H2O]n, Ln=Sm (1), Eu (2), Tb(3), H2cbb=2-(4-carboxybenzyloxy) benzoic acid, DMF=N,N-dimethylformamide}, have been synthesised by a solvothermal reaction and structurally characterised by infrared spectroscopy, elemental analysis, thermogravimetry analysis, and X-ray single-crystal diffraction. The results of single-crystal X-ray diffraction indicate that the coordination polymers 1–3 are isostructural, belong to a triclinic system, space group P-1, and show 1D chain structures through the H2cbb ligands connecting adjacent lanthanide ions. In addition, the fluorescence properties of polymers 1–3 were also investigated.

Abstract Catatonia is a psychomotor syndrome defined by a constellation of predominantly motor symptoms. The aim of the present study was to determine whether recently admitted psychiatric patients with catatonia exhibited higher serum C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) levels compared to non-catatonic psychiatric patients and healthy controls (HCs). Recently admitted psychiatric patients were screened and evaluated for the catatonia syndrome using the Bush-Francis Catatonia Rating Scale and the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5). The study sample was formed by 150 individuals (39 male and 111 female), including 51 catatonic patients, 55 non-catatonic patients, and 44 HCs. Serum hs-CRP levels were processed with the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Serum levels of creatine kinase (CK), adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH), immunoglobulin G (IgG), complement component 3 (C3), and complement component 4 (C4) were also determined. There was a significantly higher percentage of patients with high inflammatory levels (hs-CRP > 3000ng/ml) in the catatonic (43.1%) than in the non-catatonic (14.5%) or HCs group (9.1%) (χ 2 =18.9, P < .001). Logistic regression showed that catatonic patients had significantly higher hs-CRP levels compared to non-catatonic patients even after controlling for other clinical and laboratory variables (OR = 3.52, P = .015, 95% CI 1.28–9.79). Multiple linear regression analysis revealed that log-transformed hs-CRP was independently predicted by body mass index and log-transformed C4, ACTH, and Cortisol in catatonic patients. Findings of the present study suggest that catatonia is specifically linked to a higher level of systemic inflammation, not merely attributable to the overall psychopathology, or alterations in the stress level and complement system.

A new coordination polymer (CP), namely, poly[[diaquatris[μ2-1,4-bis(1H-imidazol-1-yl)benzene]bis[μ6-4-(2,4-dicarboxylatophenoxy)phthalato]tetracobalt(II)] hexahydrate], {[Co4(C16H6O9)2(C12H10N4)3(H2O)2]·6H2O} n , has been synthesized by solvothermal reaction. The CP was fully characterized by IR spectroscopy, elemental analysis, thermogravimetric analysis, and powder and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. It presents a three-dimensional (3D) structure based on tetranuclear CoII secondary building units (SBUs) with a tfz-d net and point symbol (43)2(46·618·84). The 4-(2,4-dicarboxyphenoxy)phthalic acid (H4dcppa) ligands are completely deprotonated and link {Co4(COO)4}4− SBUs into two-dimensional (2D) layers. Furthermore, adjacent layers are connected by 1,4-bis(1H-imidazol-1-yl)benzene (bib) ligands, giving rise to a 3D supramolecular architecture. Interestingly, there are numerous elliptical cavities in the CP where isolated unique discrete hexameric water clusters have been observed. The results of thermogravimetric and magnetic analyses are described in detail.

A simple and convenient solvothermal reaction has been developed to produce CuInS2 nanorods and nanotubes from the elements in ethylenediamine at 280 °C. The products were characterized by x-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Analysis shows that the coordinating ability of ethylenediamine and the existence of liquid In may play important roles in the growth of one-dimension nanocrystallites and the electron-transfer reaction. In addition, spherical CuInS2 micrometer particles were obtained at 350 °C.
