Proportional Resonant Controlled Dual Active Bridge DC to AC Converter System with Enhanced Response

<p>This paper deals with comparison of responses of PI and Proportional Resonant controlled DC to AC Converter systems. The objective of this work is to regulate the output of Dual Active Bridge DC to DC converter (DABDAC). The input DC is converted into high frequency AC using Half bridge inverter. It is stepped up by using step up transformer and then it is rectified. The DC is converted into Low frequency AC using a Half bridge inverter. The open loop DABDAC system, closed loop PI based DABDAC system an Proportional Resonant Controller (PRC)based DABDAC system are designed, modeled and simulated using MATLAB Simulink. The results of PR controlled system are compared with those of PI controlled system. The results indicate that the proposed PRC-DABDAC has better time domain response than PI controlled DABDAC system. The proposed DABDAC system has advantages like high gain and steady state error in output voltage. </p>

This paper deals with comparison of responses of PI and Fuzzy Logic controlled DC-to-DC converter Fed DC motor (FLCDDCDCM) systems. The DC input is converted into high frequency AC using full bridge inverter. The output is stepped up using a transformer and then it is rectified using voltage doubler rectifier. The open loop system with T filter at the output is simulated. The closed loop PI & FLC based DDCDCM systems are designed, modeled and simulated using Matlab/Simulink. The time domain parameters of FL controlled system are compared with those of PI controlled system. The results indicated that FL controlled DDCDCM system has better response than PI controlled DDCDCM system.

Recent developments in converters have given pathway to high-gain-step up converter having low output voltage ripple. High-gain-step up converters can be found between Photovoltaic Voltage (PV) and Direct-Current (D-C) loads. The intention of this work is to identify multi converter system for multiple input sources and to improve time response of high-gain-step up-converter. Closed-loop Multi-Converter System (MCS) is utilized to regulate load voltage. This effort recommends suitable-controller for “closed-loop-controlled-SEPIC-REBOOST Converter fed DC motor”. The estimation of the yield in ‘open-loop’&‘closed- loop-circuit’ has been done using MATLAB or Simulink. Closed-loop-control of MCS with PI and FOPID-Controllers are investigated and their responses are evaluated in conditions of rise time, peak time, settling time and steady state error. It is seen that FOPID controlled MCS gives better time domain response in terms of motor speed. A ‘Prototype of MCS’ has been fabricated in the laboratory& the ‘experimental-results’ are authenticated with the simulation-results.

High gain DC-DC converters are getting popular due to the increased use of renewable energy sources (RESs). Common ground between the input and output, low voltage stress across power switches and high voltage gain at lower duty ratios are desirable features required in any high gain DC-DC converter. DC-DC converters are widely used in DC microgrids to supply power to meet local demands. In this work, a high step-up DC-DC converter is proposed based on the voltage lift (VL) technique using a single power switch. The proposed converter has a voltage gain greater than a traditional boost converter (TBC) and Traditional quadratic boost converter (TQBC). The effect of inductor parasitic resistances on the voltage gain of the converter is discussed. The losses occurring in various components are calculated using PLECS software. To confirm the performance of the converter, a hardware prototype of 200 W is developed in the laboratory. The simulation and hardware results are presented to determine the performance of the converter in both open-loop and closed-loop conditions. In closed-loop operation, a PI controller is used to maintain a constant output voltage when the load or input voltage is changed.

abstract Seismic effects of the underground nuclear explosions MILROW (October 1969, about 1 megaton) and CANNIKIN (November 1971, under 5 megatons) were monitored by a network of continuously recording, high-frequency, high-gain seismographs located on Amchitka and nearby islands. Each explosion was immediately followed by hundreds of small, discrete events (mB &lt; 4), of similar focal mechanism and with a characteristic low-frequency signature, which were apparently related to the deterioration of the explosion cavity. This activity intensified, then terminated within minutes of a large, complex multiple event and concurrent formation of a surface subsided area that signaled complete collapse of the explosion cavity (MILROW, 37 hr; CANNIKIN, 38 hr). A number of small explosion-stimulated tectonic events, apparently unrelated to the collapse phenomenon, occurred intermittently for several weeks following each explosion—near the explosion cavity and up to 13 km southeast of CANNIKIN ground zero along the Island. These events were confined to the upper crust of the Island, had characteristic high-frequency signatures, and, near the Rifle Range Fault, had focal mechanisms which could be correlated with pre-existing faulting. The evidence points to a short-term interaction of the explosions with local ambient tectonic stresses. Because these stresses are of relatively low level on Amchitka, the observed seismic effects were significantly less extensive and smaller than similar effects reported from high-yield explosions at the Nevada Test Site. Continuous monitoring of the natural seismicity of the Amchitka region since 1969 has not revealed other evidence for an interaction between either MILROW or CANNIKIN and natural tectonic processes. The structural stability and apparent low level of stress in the upper crust of Amchitka suggest that the Island effectively is seismically decoupled from the active subduction zone below.

Sleep plays a primary function for health and sustains physical and cognitive performance. Although various stimulation systems for enhancing sleep have been developed, they are difficult to use on a long-term basis. This paper proposes a novel stimulation system and confirms its feasibility for sleep. Specifically, in this study, a closed-loop vibration stimulation system that detects the heart rate (HR) and applies −n% stimulus beats per minute (BPM) computed on the basis of the previous 5 min of HR data was developed. Ten subjects participated in the evaluation experiment, in which they took a nap for approximately 90 min. The experiment comprised one baseline and three stimulation conditions. HR variability analysis showed that the normalized low frequency (LF) and LF/high frequency (HF) parameters significantly decreased compared to the baseline condition, while the normalized HF parameter significantly increased under the −3% stimulation condition. In addition, the HR density around the stimulus BPM significantly increased under the −3% stimulation condition. The results confirm that the proposed stimulation system could influence heart rhythm and stabilize the autonomic nervous system. This study thus provides a new stimulation approach to enhance the quality of sleep and has the potential for enhancing health levels through sleep manipulation.

To design vibration control system for flexible structures their mathematical model should be reduced. In the paper we consider the influence of the model reduction on the dynamics of the real closed-loop system. A simply cantilever beam is an object of consideration since we are able to formulate the exact analytical model of such structure. As a result of reduction the model with low frequency resonances is usually separated from the high frequency dynamics because high frequency part of the model is naturally strong damped. In order to estimate dynamical system for control purposes in the paper we applied a few orthogonal methods such as: modal, Rayleigh-Ritz and Schur decompositions. As it is shown all methods well calculate resonances frequencies but generate different anti-resonances frequencies. From control strategy in point of view of the flexible structures these anti-resonances have significantly influence on the stability and dynamics of the closed-loop systems.

This paper presents the design and modeling of power electronic converters such as buck–boost and Ćuk operated under continuous conduction mode (CCM). The open-loop behavior of buck–boost and Ćuk converters needs modeling and simulation using modeled equations. The closed-loop control of these converters has a propositional–integral–derivative (PID) controller. PID controller parameters are obtained from Ziegler–Nichols step response method. These converters can be analyzed using the state equation. The MATLAB/SIMULINK tool is used for simulation of those state equations. Ćuk and buck–boost converters are designed and analyzed. The mathematical model of power Converter for simulation has been carried out using SIMULINK with/without any Sim Power System Elements. The open- and closed-loop results are compared.

An experimental verification of previously derived small-signal low-frequency open- and closed-loop characteristics and step responses of a voltage-mode-controlled pulse-width-modulated (PWM) boost DC–DC converter is presented. The Bode plots of the voltage transfer function of the control circuit, the converter and the PWM modulator, the open-loop control-to-output and input-to-output transfer functions, the loop gain, and the closed-loop control-to-output and input-to-output transfer functions are measured. The step responses to the changes in the input voltage, the duty cycle, and the reference voltage are measured. The theoretical results were in good agreement with the measured results. The small-signal model of the converter is experimentally verified.


In the present scenario photovoltaic (PV) systems feature resonant interest in the recent researches. The amount from the PV frame is highly oscillated due to temperature variation. In this proposed work, the ANN based MPPT algorithm extracts maximum energy from the PV system by benefit of high gain DC-DC Luo converter, the Luo converter produced voltage is given to the single phase grid through reduced switch seven level inverter. The proposed seven level inverter is controlled by high frequency technique multicarrier modulation technique. The PI controller based closed loop grid synchronization is implemented for solving the power quality issues. The multilevel inverter reduce the total harmonics distortion in the output AC voltage waveform.
