Assessment of length-weight relationship (LWR), length-length relationship (LLR) and condition factor was carried out for Bangana dero in northeastern India, mainly from the Brahmaputra and Irrawaddy (Manipur) River system.  We report a value of ‘b’ 3.1269 and 3.1426 for LWR with respect to total length and standard length respectively, indicating positive allometric growth. The value of ‘b’ for LLR is less than one, which indicates that growth in total length is less with per unit increase in standard length.  The value of ‘K’ and ‘Kn’ is 0.91 and 0.72 depicts normal well being of fish in its habitat.

The current study describes the length-weight relationships and condition factor of Bombay duck, Harpadon nehereus from landings of Fishery Ghat, Chittagong. A total of 300 individuals caught by various mesh size of gill nets by commercial fishers were investigated from April 2016 to June 2016. On the basis of hypothetical cube law W=aLb, the variance of ‘b’ for both total length and standard length were estimated statistically (0.0090 and 0.0088 respectively). Using the value of t=1.96 at the 95% confidence limits for ‘b’ were estimated as 2.218 to 2.590 for total length-weight relationship and for standard length-weight relationship, 1.985 to 2.353 which indicated allometric growth pattern for both cases. The monthly relative condition factor during three months of observation (0.978, 1.033, and 1.097) showed no notable difference due to spawning strain, spent condition and lower feeding rate right after peak spawning season.Res. Abstract The aim of the current study was to determine the length-weight relationship (LWR) and length-length relationship (LLR) with condition factor (K) values for Oxynoemacheilus angorae from the Perşembe Plateau meandering streams in Ordu, Turkey. A total of 65 fish specimens, which were caught with electrofishing gear, were examined. Fish standard length (SL), fork length (FL), total length (TL), and body weight (W) were determined. There were no statistical differences between the measurements of male and female O. angorae specimens; therefore, the female and male specimens were evaluated together in the current study. The LWR equation and determination coefficient of O. angorae were W = 0.014 TL2.7359 (r2 = 0.9659). The 95% confidence interval of the b value for the O. angorae specimens from the Perşembe Plateau meandering streams was 2.7261 to 2.7435. In the present study, it was determined that O. angorae specimens showed negative allometric growth. Calculations of O. angorae TL-SL, TL-FL, and FL-SL relationship equations and determination coefficients were as follows: TL = 0.2091+1.1646 SL, (r2 = 0.986); TL = 0.1341+1.0301 FL (r2 = 0.9914); and FL = 0.0998+1.1261 SL, (r2 = 0.9868), respectively. A new maximum total length was recorded for O. angorae in this study. The average condition factor value of O. angorae was 0.9954. This value could have indicated that this species was encountering some problems in this habitat. The O. angorae parameters determined were the first data reported for the Perşembe Plateau meandering streams in Ordu, Turkey (Middle Black Sea Region).

Present paper attempts to describe length-weight (LW) and total length-standard length (TL and SL) relationships of fresh-water garfi sh Xenentodon cancila. Fish of different length and weight were caught using cast nets from Muriyadhar, Sunsari. The fish were kept in ice box in fresh condition and brought to fi sh laboratory, Department of Zoolog post Graduate Campus, Biratnagar. The data obtained from measurement were analysed using the formula W = aLb. The b values estimated for the total length and standard length in relation to body weight were 3.2202 and 3.2559 respectively. This study aims to study population of beloso fish. The research was conducted between May-June 2010 at Morosari Waters Area, District SayungDemak. Beloso fish catches are measured standard length, total length and weight. The data analysis suchgrowth was using Von Bertalanffy, length - weight relationship, conditional factor and, food and feeding habits.Growthof beloso fish(O. microlepis) in Morosari waters area has a value of  L ∞ of 13,49cm by the equation L(t) = 13,49 ( 1 - exp 0,0175 (t-1,9053)) for length,while based on the weight obtained for W ∞ 128,33 grams with the equation W(t) = 128,33 ( 1 - exp -0,003 (t-2,4312))3. Length-weight relationship beloso fish have value of b1,451 in the Morosari waters area. This value indicates that the growth of beloso fish is negative allometric, which the addition of lengthis faster than its weight. Based on data calculations of beloso fish condition factor in the Morosari waters shows the range of condition factors from 0,0965 to 0,3661, which are preferred food energy accretion term. Beloso fish areomnivorous fish that consume phytoplankton, zooplankton, and detritus as food found in the Morosari estuary.

Abstract We determined size structure, sex ratio, and condition factor for the pink shrimp, Penaeus notialisPérez Farfante, 1967 in the Caribbean coast of Colombia, information essential for the design of management and conservation strategies to ensure a sustainable fishery. Total length (TL; ± 0.01 mm) ranged from 79.47 to 192.80 mm TL (mean 148.21 ± 17.75) for females and 79.00–181.83 mm TL (mean 122.52 mm ± 12.55) for males. Statistically significant differences (P < 0.01) in size and weight (± 0.1 mg) between sexes were found year-round; males were smaller and weighed less than females. The sex ratio showed significant differences (P < 0.01) between the total number of females and males per total length class when compared with a 50% sex ratio. The monthly sex ratio showed significant differences between the number of females and males. The weight-length relationship showed positive allometric growth (b = 3.118) for females, whereas negative allometric growth (b = 2.663) was observed for males. The condition factor (K) ranged 0.0002–0.0023 (mean 0.0009 ± 0.0007) for females and 0.0005–0.2179 (mean 0.0316 ± 0.0642) for males.

The Peppered loach, Lepidocephalichthys guntea is the least concerned freshwater species, commonly found in India, Pakistan, Nepal, and Bangladesh. In West Bengal, it is popularly known as “Guntey” & it has commercial and food value. The current study aimed to the estimation of the length-weight relationship, condition, and relative condition factor (Kn) of the fish species Lepidocephalichthys guntea, habitats of Kangsabati river in the District West Midnapore, West Bengal, India. Total 161 numbers of species were collected between August 2019 to July 2020 and considered for examination. The fishes ranged from 5.4 to 10.7 cm in total length & 0.72 to 9.73 g in weight. The scatter diagram exhibits a linear relationship between the log length & log weight. The female species has a higher “b” value (b=3.452, P<0.05), which is greater than 3 which justifying a positive allometric growth. The parabolic equation among total length and weight of L. guntea is labeled as W= 0.008744991 L 2.7496 for males, W= 0.002153098 L 3.452 for females & W= 0.007575793 L 2.8155 for the combination of male and female species. Higher r2 (0.859, P<0.05) value in combined of male & female justifying a strong relationship between length and length. The mean condition(K) & relative condition factor (Kn) values were found to be the height in the male category with "K" value 0.654 & "Kn” value1.174 respectively indicating the well-being of the species. Although, this species does not sternly follow the cube law & shows a well status of health condition in their natural habitat.

Eleven morphometric variables including weight were recorded for 429 specimens of obtuse barracuda Sphyraena obtusata Cuvier, 1829 collected over a period of two years from January 2017 to December 2018, from Vizhinjam fish landing centre, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Length-weight relationship and length-length relationship of the species were estimated using linear regression analysis. Different length measurements were converted to ratios with standard length as morphometric ratios and the growth rate was assessed gender wise. Length-weight relationship for male and female population were estimated as Wm= 13.326 × L3.2409 and Wf = 11.952 × L2.9821, respectively. Linear relationships for other morphometric variables and morphometric ratios with standard length were established for the species. Principal component analysis was performed and total length, snout length and snout to pre-nostril length were identified as key morphometric variables discriminating gender. The relative condition factor was estimated as 1.04+0.13 for total population and the role of morphometric ratios in sex differentiation was examined.

The knowledge of length-weight relationship parameters has numerous practical applications in fishery research and management. Currently, there is a dearth of information on the growth pattern and state of well-being of Parachanna africana in Ijede and Agbowa Lagoons. This study period was between December 2017, and June 2018 investigated the allometry and condition factor of P. africana inhabiting the Ijede and Agbowa Lagoons, South-western Nigeria. Two hundred fish samples of P. africana was gotten from fishermen at both locations. The length and weight measurements were taken to the nearest centimetres and grams. Descriptive, correlation and regression tools, was used to 2analyse the data collected. Results obtained showed that the length-weight relationship had r values of  0.186, 0.196, 0.191 and 0.341, 0.001, 0.098 for Ijede and Agbowa respectively, at a significant level of  P<0.05 for male, female and combined sexes. The b values of 0.193 for Ijede and 0.165 for Agbowa were not significantly different (P> 0.05). The mean condition factors of 0.365 ±0.141 and 0.329±0.169 were obtained in Ijede and Agbowa, respectively. It was observed that the species in both lagoons exhibited negative allometric growth patterns with values 0.365 and 0.330 for Ijede and Agbowa lagoons respectively with no variations in the condition factors of both locations which indicate the need to assess human and domestic activities surrounding these water bodies.

The total 200 specimens of Catla catla and Cirrhinus mrigla were worked out during the two year study periods, from Dejla Dewada reservoir of Khargone district. Total length and body weight were estimated. The correlation coefficient (“r”) and ponder index (“Kn”) have also been computed. The result showed the growth of two IMC is satisfactory. The value of exponent ‘n’ in the equation W=cLn were 1.9416 and 1.4798 for Catla catla and Cirrhinus mrigla. The relative condition factor (“Kn”) remained greater than one fir both IMC indicating their good well being.

Aims: The Tanoe-Ehy swamp forest (TESF) is a freshwater swampy area characterized by seasonal variation of environmental parameters and fish diversity. So, the aim of this study was to analyze seasonal variations of growth parameters and condition factors of the three abundant species. Methodology: Specimens were collected by using gill nets and fyke nets, measured and weighed. Length-weight relationship (LWR), Fulton’s condition (KF) and relative condition (KR) factors were analyzed from Standard Length (SL) and body weight (BW). Results: The Standard Length of Clarias buettikoferi, Thysochromis ansorgii and Parachana obscura varied between 9.50 and 29.30 cm, 4.60 and 11.50 cm, 10.70 and 29.30 cm, respectively. The growth type of population was allometric negative for C. buettikoferi and P. obscura and isometric for T. ansorgii. In terms of seasonal variation, C. buettikoferi females and P. obscura specimens exhibited isometric growth in dry seasons (DS) against a negative allometric growth in flooded seasons (FS). In contrast, female and combined sex specimens of T. ansorgii showed positive allometric growth in DS and isometric growth type in FS. KR varied between 0.76 and 2.02 and was significantly higher in FS than in DS, indicating a state of well-being during flooded seasons in the 3 species. Conclusion: There was a significant relationship between length with weight and both condition factor for the three species. This study provided the first data about fish body measurements in the TESF and concluded that LWRs and condition factors of the three fish species were strongly influenced by seasonal variations in hydrological conditions.
