Islands are generally rich in marine biodiversity, but it also often hides unique and endemic terrestrial wildlife.  The data of terrestrial wildlife in Malaysian islands are still severely lacking, notably from small islands.  Hence, this study was conducted to survey and update the small mammal diversity (bats and non-volant small mammals) in Pulau Perhentian Kecil, a tourist destination famous for its magnificent, diverse marine life and white sandy beaches.  Despite their touristic popularity, very few information is known about the faunal diversity in this island compare to their more massive neighbouring island, Pulau Perhentian Besar.  The survey was carried out from 21 to 30 May 2014 recorded 56 individuals encompasses eight species of bats and five species of non-volant small mammals that were captured using mist nets, harp traps, and cage traps.  The survey recorded 10 new species locality records for the island in which, five species were never recorded in Pulau Perhentian Besar.  Hipposideros dyacorum, Tylonycteris fulvida, T. malayana, Rattus exulans, and Sundamys annandalei are also new distribution records for the Malaysian East Coast islands highlighting the importance of protecting island biodiversity.  Nonetheless, it is hoped that this study not only highlights the species diversity on the island but also serve as a data for sustainable island tourism management planning, which will be crucial for the sustainable development and management of this ecologically sensitive area.

Abstract The objective of this study is to assess the level of application of integrated water resources management (IWRM) in the lower Oueme valley. In order to achieve this, interviews with the actors' families allowed, on the basis of the survey on indicator 6.5.1 of the Sustainable Development Goals, to represent the degree of implementation of IWRM in the lower Oueme valley using a United Nations (UN) form. The results of this analysis reveal a low level of IWRM implementation with a score of 31 on a scale of 0–100. The weaknesses identified are mainly related to the lack of funding (score of 20/100) to cover all aspects of the development and management of water resources. Inadequate instruments or tools (score of 25/100) to enable decision-makers and users to make rational and informed decisions between different options and action measures, the unfavourable environment (score of 35/100) and finally weak institutional efficiency (score of 45/100), intersectoral coordination, and the involvement of various other stakeholders, are all evils that undermine the efficient management of water resources in the lower valley of Oueme.

The implement-ability of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) depend on effective Project Planning, Development & Management (PPD&M). This applied research bases on the extensive possibilities for open learning modules via distance education. The two-fold research gap addressed are content and delivery. Participants need a SDG-embedded Project Planning, Development and Management offering. This curriculum redesign initiative is in line with the book's aim to disseminate, sustain and continuously improve content and practice incorporating new tools, insights, methods, necessary for proper implementation of the SDGs. The re-designed content emphasizes the ability to inter-relate through appropriate tool-sets on challenges, priorities, themes, sectors in the project development management domain. Complex developmental concerns are best served when the participant deploys the right combination of tools. Need for re-look at the evaluation system is highlighted with an interesting proposal to engage PPD&M alumni for continuous improvement on SDG-led growth.

Zhejiang province owns abundant tourism resources which help make it one of China’s most developed provinces in tourism. However, many tourism resources are partly or completely destroyed due to aimless development and utilization. It is suggested in this paper that the quality of tourism activity be promoted, scientific estimation system for bearing capacity be established, the order of nature and pristine state of tourism resources be attached more importance than economic development so that the sustainable development of tourism resource and tourism economy can be guaranteed.

Education is an "investment". Education is the process of forming the basis of the fundamental capabilities, both related to cognitive (intellectual) and emotional power (feeling), which is directed to human nature and to each other. Problems of teachers in secondary education in Indonesia are as follows. (1) Lack of teachers: deployment of teachers in Indonesia is not in accordance with the needs in each educational unit; there is a tendency surplus of teachers in certain areas, while other areas (outside Java) are lack of teachers. (2) The qualifications of teachers: many teachers have not their minimal education qualifications (S1 degree). (3) Academic competence and qualifications: the results of the competency test conducted on random teachers in 2004 are not satisfactory. (4) Unsuitable education background: Many teachers teach subjects that are not in accordance with their educational background. In order that the planning formulated at the national level is supported and implemented in the education ranks below, it is recommended to implement an optimal management, "Planning Philosophy", asdepicted in the "Sustainable development planning pentagon" in this article.

This systematic study of the polychaete species of the family Glyceridae is part of a broader program to inventory and determine parameters for conservation and sustainable use of the marine biodiversity off the southeastern and southern coast of Brazil. The material studied was collected from intertidal sandy beaches, the inner continental shelf (<50 m depth) off the northern coast of the state of São Paulo, and the outer continental shelf and part of the continental slope (depths from 60 to 808 m) off the state of Rio de Janeiro south to Rio Grande do Sul (22° S - 34° 40' S). The descriptions of several species were improved, adding new and important taxonomic characters, mainly related to proboscideal papillae. A key for identification of the glycerid species from southeastern and southern Brazil is also provided. Eight species of Glyceridae were identified: Glycera americana Leidy 1855; Glycera brevicirris Grube 1870; Glycera dibranchiata Ehlers 1868; Glycera lapidum Quatrefages 1866; Glycera oxycephala Ehlers 1887; Glycera tesselata Grube 1863; Hemipodia californiensis (Hartman 1938); Hemipodia simplex (Grube 1857); and a previously unknown species of Glycera.

Socioenvironmentalism and solidarity tourism in Complexo do Alemão (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) ABSTRACT The article examines how solidarity tourism is being developed at the Complexo do Alemão and how the social actors are taking ownership of this proposal. Understanding the context in which the tourism occur, in light of phenomenology, is essential to identify obstacles and existing potentialities in the implementation of solidarity tourism in this location. The research includes the social actors interactively in its process and establishes commitment of the researchers with the production of knowledge and the development of society. In order to achieve this, transdisciplinary action-research methodology is used because this approach inserts a humanist perspective of science. The understanding of action-research as a strategy for building knowledge which is focused on solving problems of reality justifies this choice of method and consolidates the perspective of involving researchers and actors in the process of active participation, recognizing the multidimensional nature of reality, identifying and prioritizing problems, mediating conflicts, developing subject´s complex episteme and building actions based on ethical and solidarity principles. The complex relationships that tourism establishes with other existing initiatives of a socioenvironmental nature in the Complexo do Alemão points towards the solidarity tourism indicators as relevant to the analysis of the tourism phenomenon as a contributing factor of local development. In this article, we highlight part of this process, whose actions resulted in the early deployment of solidarity tourism in Complexo do Alemão, publicize a documentary and present the difficulties and conflicts that residents experience in their struggle for emancipation. Currently, a mobilized group bet in solidarity tourism as a way to promote tourism management, mutual learning based on local knowledge and the sustainable development of communities.
