After the dissolution of the first national airline in 2002, the Guinean government attempted to set up Guinea Airlines, but it was unsuccessful. This study aims to analyze the current state of air transport in Guinea and to conduct a diagnostic analysis for the revival of the national airline. The objective is to explore the causes of the failures of various attempts to revive the national company. The findings show that air transport has a positive spillover externality to economic long-run growth and the revival of Guinea Airlines could be a major asset to boost the country’s economic growth.

The digital economy is a key catalyst for the economic growth of developing nations. However, because developing nations often lack the resources needed to grow in this area, it is essential for a developing nation to focus on identifying obstacles and to strategize toward long-term improvement. We study the current state of digital economies among developing nations, and evaluate the causes of their limitations. Specifically, we use the Russian Federation’s strategy for the development of their digital economy as a case study for identifying common issues that developing nations face in this area. AbstractThis research study contributes to the ever-expanding literature by examining multivariate cointegration and causality relationships between electricity consumption, economic growth and other growth determinants for quarterly South African data collected between 1994/Q1 – 2014/Q4. The motivation behind this current research case study becomes apparent when taking into consideration that no previous studies have gone further than bivariate and trivariate analysis in investigating the electricity-growth nexus in South Africa. In conducting our empirical investigation, our obtained empirical results are two-fold in nature. Firstly, we find significant multivariate long-run cointegration relationships between economic growth, electricity consumption and other growth determinants. Secondly, our empirical analysis offers support in favour of the neutrality hypothesis, that is, the notion of no causal effects existing between electricity consumption and economic growth in the long-run. However, we find that exports directly cause electricity consumption whereas economic growth, domestic investment and employment levels causally flow to exports.

In Côte d’Ivoire, cashew has become an important cash crop. Nevertheless, Côte d’Ivoire’s cashew relies on the international market, with more than 90% of the production exported as raw nuts. The 2020 commercialization campaign started a few days after the outbreak of COVID-19 in China, which spread worldwide. This work assesses the impact of this pandemic on the cashew price and cashew producers’ income in Côte d’Ivoire. We used the cashew price database over ten weeks in five cashew production areas and an interview-guided to collect the data. We used the Producer Price Index (PPI), descriptive statistic, and theoretical analysis of the income forecasting for data analysis. Results reveal that the lack of funds resulting from the fear of investors has caused a gradual drop in prices since February. This decrease has been more severe when restriction measures have been enforced. The purchase of cashews even stopped in some localities of the study areas. Compared to the first week of the campaign, the COVID-19 pandemic has reduced cashew producer income hugely to 50% in the sixth week and to 37.5% in the ninth and tenth weeks of our observation. Nonetheless, institutional factors such as the lack of control have also contributed to prices decrease. As recommendations, in the short-run, some resilience strategies such as subsidizing the local cashew market should be set up by the authorities. In the mid-term, the country should strengthen the cashew commercialization chain. In long-run, the local cashew transformation should be prioritized instead of raw nuts commercialization.

The high economic growth and continuous in the long run is a target to be achieved by every country in the world, especially developing countries, without exception of the Indonesian state. In achieving these efforts can be done through various approaches and theory development. research entitled "Analysis of Indonesian Economic Growth (Growth Model Endogenius)" aims to: (1) analyze the development of the economy and labor conditions in Indonesia; (2) analyze the conditions which the Indonesian economy. This research uses descriptive quantitative methods and analysis inverensial, using secondary data in the form of time series. The results showed that the independent variables analyzed, the variables that significantly affect output (GDP) is a variable capital (K), while the labor force (L) both total and individual workers for education under diploma (non-graduate) and power work with minimal education diploma (bachelor) had no significant effect on GDP at current prices and at constant prices, except for labor scholar at constant prices had a positive effect but not significant. Furthermore, based on the 4 (four) models tested show that the sum of all the regression coefficient is smaller than 1 each at 0.7292 and 0.3527 on the basis of current prices, as well as for on the basis of constant prices is the sum of all the regression coefficients respectively by 0 , 1078 and 0.2002. Thus showing the scale of the rate of return is declining (decreasing return to scale). It concluded that the current state of Indonesia will enter or toward Era Long Run Economic Growth.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine the effects of maritime and air transportation on the environment and economy of Iran. The authors specify two dynamic models of the environmental pollution and the economic growth. Then, the authors estimate the environmental and economic elasticities of maritime and air transportation in short run and long run in Iran during 1978–2012. Design/methodology/approach The authors estimate the environmental and economic elasticities of maritime elasticities in short and long run, using simultaneous equations system. Findings The findings indicate that the short- and long-run environmental pollution elasticities of maritime transportation are higher than those of the air ones. In addition, the economic growth elasticities are greater in the air transportation compared to maritime one. As a result, the maritime transportation is more pollutant and less productive in Iran in comparison with the air transportation. Originality/value The policymakers are advised to improve the infrastructure of maritime transportation from both the environmental and economic point of views. Consequently, the air transportation is considered as a cleaner and more beneficial transportation mode in Iran, where geographical position limits the maritime transport as a widespread transportation mode.

Abstract The air transport has suffered a remarkable transformation over the past decade. Thewaywe travel today is quite different from how we did ten years ago. Due to the rise of low cost carriers, the market of air transportation has been constantly changing and presently witnessing the transformation of legacy carriers in order to manage to continue operating. The main purpose of thiswork is to show the differences in efficiency for different performance areas on a case study comprised of six different airline carriers, legacy and low cost, using a Multi Criteria Decision Making (MCDA) tool - Measuring Attractiveness by a Category Based Evaluation Technique (MACBETH). With the results obtained in this study, it is expected to show the work that is being carried out to obtain a model that would measure the efficiency of one or various airline companies in a defined period of time, using a set of performance indicators, to which specialists in the area previously have given weights.
