COVID-19 pandemic raises various challenges faced by health workers in hospitals. This study explored strategies for overcoming challenges in caring for COVID-19 patients at hospitals in Indonesia based on healthcare workers’ experience. In-depth interviews were employed with 28 healthcare workers (physicians and nurses) who were purposively sampled. Data were collected via phone and analysed using the Colaizzi method. Five following challenges were found: difficulties in working with personal protective equipment (PPE), offline training for handling Covid and using PPE not being implemented evenly for all health workers, physical and psychological fatigue, difficulties in carrying out health education and assessment towards patients and families, and limited resources to cope with the COVID-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, some barriers require support from the government, public and hospital managers. The information gained from research on the strategies for caring for COVID-19 patients can contribute to better preparedness for hospitals and health workers facing the COVID-19 pandemic.

ABSTRAKPetugas TPS atau petugas pengangkut sampah merupakan pekerja yang setiap harinya mengambil atau mengangkut sampah dari rumah ke rumah untuk dikumpulkan kemudian di pilah-pilah di TPS dan akan dikirimkan ke tempat pembuangan yang lebih besar yaitu Tempat Pembuangan Akhir (TPA). Sepanjang hari petugas TPS bekerja dengan sampah sehingga membuat mereka mempunyai risiko tinggi terkena penularan penyakit kulit, baik yang memiliki efek secara langsung maupun tidak langsung. Salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan untuk mengurangi resiko terkena penularan penyakit kulit adalah dengan menggunakan Alat Pelindung Diri (APD) Kurangnya kesadaran, kepatuhan dan informasi tentang risiko bahaya, sebagian dari mereka tidak tidak menggunakan APD. APD yang kurang lengkap dapat memungkinkan kontak langsung dengan sampah sehingga mengakibatkan terjadinya gangguan kesehatan salah satunya yaitu menyebabkan penularan penyakit kulit. Jenis penelitian ini adalah analitik korelasi dengan pendekatan cross-sectional. Data diuji dengan Spearman rank test. Pengumpulan data dengan cara observasi, wawancara dan kuesioner. Peneliti menggunakan metode total sampling. Hasil uji statistik menunjukkan p=0.00 (α<0.05) dan r=0.761, sehingga terdapat hubungan yang kuat antara perilaku pemakaian APD dengan penularan penyakit kulit pada petugas TPS. Oleh sebab itu, diharapkan program pemerintah dan petugas kesehatan dapat mendukung penggunaan APD sebagai upaya preventif terhadap penularan penyakit kulit pada petugas TPS.Kata kunci : sampah, petugas TPS, alat pelindung diri (APD), penularan penyakit kulitABSTRACTA garbage worker who take or hauling garbage from house to house and collected and then sorted into the TPS every day and will be sent to landfills larger is the final disposal (landfill). One effort that can be done to reduce the risk of skin disease transmission is to use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Lack of awareness, compliance and information about the risk of harm, some of them not using PPE. APD incomplete can allow direct contact with garbage, which causes health problems one of which causes the skin disease transmission. This type of research is an analytic correlation with cross-sectional approach. Data were tested with Spearman rank test. The collection of data by means of observation, interviews and questionnaires. Researchers used total sampling method. Statistical analysis showed p = 0.00 (α <0,05) and r = 0.761, so there is a strong relationship between the behavior of the use of PPE with the skin disease transmission at the polling station officials. Therefore, it is expected the government programs and health workers can support the use of PPE as a preventative measure against the spread of skin disease at polling station officials.Keywords: garbage, garbage workers, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), skin disease transmission. BACKGROUND፡ Coronavirus disease 2019 is an infectious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2. This study aimed to address the preventive procedures to protect healthcare workers at hospital to avoid COVID-19, and infection control procedures to protect dental professionals in dental office.METHODS: We conducted a search of published articles from PubMed, google scholar databases using key words such as COVID-19, healthcare worker, infection control, and dental practice. Relevant articles were identified and reviewed. Most published papers were clinical reports and case studies. We have selected some of the current published papers written in English in 2020.RESULTS: Infection control procedures to protect health workers at hospitals, and dental professionals at dental office were summurised and presented. Infection control procedures for healthcare workers at hospitals include Personal protective equipment, Korea filter (KF)94 respirator, goggles, face protector,disposable waterproof long-arm gown, and gloves, and others. Extra-protection procedures should be taken with old and vulnerable healthcare workers. Dental professionals should evaluate patients in advance before starting dental treatment. Aerosols generating procedures should be avoided and personal protective equipment should be used. Dental treatment should be restricted to emergency cases only.CONCLUSION: Old medical staff should be in safer distance to avoid infection, but young physicians and nurses should work at frontline as their immunity is better than their colleagues at old age. Screening patients and measurement of the body temperature are essential measures before dental treatment.

An outbreak of a pandemic COVID-19 disease caused by a novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 has posed a serious threat to human health and the economy of the whole world. Bangladesh is one of the most densely populated countries in the world, which has also come under the attack of this viral disease. This perspective report aimed to describe the responses of Bangladesh to tackle the COVID-19, particularly on how Bangladesh is dealing with this novel viral disease with limited resources. The first case of a COVID-19 patient was detected in Bangladesh on March 8, 2020. Since then, a total of 2,144 peoples are officially reported as COVID-19 infected with 84 deaths. To combat the COVID-19, the government has taken various steps to tackle the epidemic outbreak of it such as diagnosis of the suspected cases, quarantine of doubted people and isolation of infected patients, local or regional lockdown, grant general leave from all offices for staying home of people, increase public awareness and enforce social distancing and so on. In addition, to address the socio-economic situations, the government announced several financial stimulus packages of about USD 11.17 billion. However, very limited diagnostic facilities, health workers, resources such as hospital beds, personal protective equipment, intensive care unit, and ventilators in the hospitals along with limited public unawareness are the major challenges for Bangladesh to tackle the situation effectively. This report described the responses of Bangladesh to tackle the COVID-19 and discusses prevailing challenges to mitigate this highly contagious disease with limited resources.

The COVID 19 pandemic is a case which continues to be felt by the community especially health workers. Data shows an increase in cases of health workers, especially nurses as the frontliner, this is due to one of them the use of protective equipment. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between the knowledge of the use of personal protective equipment with the Puskesmas Nurses self-efficacy on the management of COVID 19. The method used in this study was analytic descriptive with a cross-sectional approach and used 146 samples surveyed online for 1 month based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. The variable knowledge of the use of personal protective equipment was measured using a questionnaire developed by researchers based on the personal protective equipment guidelines by the Covid Task Force 19, (2020); Ministry of Health, (2020), while the variable of self-efficacy uses the General Self-efficacy Scale questionnaire by Schwarzer and Jerusalem (2010). The results showed a significant relationship between the knowledge of the use of personal protective equipment with the efficacy of the Puskesmas Nurse on the management of COVID 19 p-value 0.016. OR 2,780 which means nurses who have knowledge using good personal protective equipment have an opportunity of 2,780 times to have a good self-efficacy (sure) to the management of COVID 19 compared to nurses who have less knowledge. Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to develop human resources including nurses conducted by the government as policy makers. Through this research, the researcher proposes that further researchers can develop this research by linking other factors that can influence nurse self-efficacy.

<p>This research was conducted at Springhill Condotel Lampung to find out and dig deeper into the behavior of gondola workers. This study used a qualitative study approach. Information collection and retrieval is obtained through observation, in-depth interviews, and document studies. The supporting factors that have not supported the gondolier workers to behave safely are knowledge of the hazards, the bad perception about Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and the undisciplined attitude of the workers Using PPE. On the enabling factor, it was found out that the availability of PPE and the existing rules in the project enables gondola workers to behave safely, but still found unsafe acts. And on the reinforcement factor, less supervision was found from supervisors and safety. Company to provide information about hazards of gondolas, tighten the control of PPE, and provide safe behavior training. Gondola workers to ask supervisors and OSH sections on things they do not know, change poor perceptions better about the use of PPE, and to improve negative attitudes in the use of PPE and regulations.</p>

The novel coronavirus, COVID-19, created a pandemic with significant mortality and morbidity which poses challenges for patients and healthcare workers. The global spread of COVID-19 has resulted in shortages of personal protective equipment (PPE) leaving frontline health workers unprotected and overwhelming the healthcare system. 3D printing is well suited to address shortages of masks, face shields, testing kits and ventilators. In this article, we review 3D printing and suggest potential applications for creating PPE for healthcare workers treating COVID-19 patients. A comprehensive literature review was conducted using PubMed with keywords “Coronavirus disease 2019”, “COVID-19”, “severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2”, “SARS-CoV-2”, “supply shortages”, “N95 respirator masks”, “personal protective equipment”, “PPE”, “ventilators”, “three-dimensional model”, “three-dimensional printing” “3D printing” and “ventilator”. A summary of important studies relevant to the development of 3D printed clinical applications for COVID-19 is presented. 3D technology has great potential to revolutionize healthcare through accessibility, affordably and personalization.

Background: The number of COVID-19 cases in Indonesia continues to rise. The roles and responsibilities of healthcare workers are crucial in the battle of the COVID-19.Objective: This study aimed to explore the experience of healthcare workers in combatting COVID-19 in some parts of Indonesia.Methods: This study employed a descriptive qualitative study design. Online semi-structured interviews were conducted in April 2020 among thirteen participants who were purposively selected. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis.Results: Eight themes emerged from data, including lack of personal protective equipment, lack of referral hospitals and limited facilities, dealing with patients with unknown status, feeling worried about getting infected or being a source of viral transmission, being creative, too long shift and fatigue, being surrender to God, and government issues.Conclusion: Findings of this study could be used as the input for the government, healthcare workers, and the general population in combatting COVID-19.

Highly infectious disease epidemics such as COVID-19 put healthcare workers at higher risk of infection than regular people as they come into more potential contact with contaminated respiratory droplets and so caution is warranted in the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to lessen risk. It is not clear what kind of PPE best offers protection and the best way to remove PPE. PPE is used by Healthcare workers in the COVID-19 virus disease situation. Its use is an integral part of the strategy to combat COVID-19 and prevent its spread. Optimal PPE use is hard and thus healthcare workers may alter the delivery of care because of improper PPE use. Preventing contamination of PPE during donning and doffing therefore becomes crucial and requires improvisation. Donning and doffing of PPE should include adherence to protocols as well as COVID- 19 specific design of PPE and further research into the risks, benefits, and best practices of PPE use. Lastly, training of users must be stressed to minimize protocol deviations and in turn guarantee the best protection to HCWs. While ranked as the lowest in infection control hierarchy due to its effectiveness as compared to other measures and high cost, PPE is nonetheless extremely important and often overlooked aspect during early outbreak stages of a pandemic where neither drugs nor vaccines are available and access to them is limited. This paper sheds light on the donning and doffing protocols that should be used as well as discusses this often-overlooked aspect of the virus control measure.

The COVID-19 pandemic initially started from the Wuhan capital city of Hubei Province in the People's Republic of China had now led to a severe public health hazard across the globe, the recorded death is approximately 958 thousand globally and counting. With the enormous amount of spread of the disease, a severe crisis for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is being noticed across the globe. Face masks being the first line of defence for all the healthcare workers as well for the common public. It became mandatory to wear face masks before entering the patient care area. The countries who are not manufacturing it locally had to depend on other countries for the procurement. As there is a severe supply chain disruption due to the lockdown measures taken by all the countries to contain the disease, so it had become difficult to procure the face masks from the manufacturing countries. The price for these PPEs is also rising at an alarming rate with the increase in the COVID-19 cases and the huge rate of consumption by the healthcare and other sectors. Therefore, with limited resources, the hospital has to run its services. The CDC, WHO and ICMR have released several guidelines from time to time for sterilization and reuse of face masks. This article will discuss the various methods that can be utilized to sterilize the face masks and reuse of it.
