Taxonomic framework for factors influencing ERMS adoption in organisations of higher professional education

An electronic records management system (ERMS) is tightly linked with most of the daily activities of educational organisations and leads to enhance their performance and decision-making. The aim of this article is to identify the significant factors that could influence the ERMS adoption in higher professional education (HPE). The methodology of this article started with identifying the factors through theory analysis and literature and also recommended by experts. Technology–organisation–environment (TOE) theory was used for factor classification. Qualitative approach was used through the interview with experts to validate and verify the proposed framework. This article presents the results of a study which identifies the issues involved in the utilisation and adoption of ERMS. More than 100 previous works and six well-known theories were critically reviewed to identify the main factors for successful ERMS adoption in different areas with the aim of proposing a taxonomic framework that can depict and identify the main factors that have an impact on the success of ERMS adoption. The proposed framework includes 11 factors categorised into three dimensions. The framework is validated and verified by experts. The adoption factors identified here provide a sound theoretical basis for research to understand, support and facilitate the adoption of ERMS to HPE benefit. The proposed framework could help to improve educational outcomes and the successful implementation of ERMS.

From 2012 to the present, active work is being carried out to introduce educational activities in the sphere of higher professional education at the Faculty of Engineering Education of the National Pedagogical Dragomanov University. During 6 years for the educational degree "Bachelor" in the field of knowledge 01 Education / Pedagogy specialty 015 "Vocational Education" 9 specializations were opened, namely: the food technology, the technology of light industry products, the design, the wood processing, the hospitality training, the computer technologies, the economics, the document management, the labor protection. The specialty 015 "Vocational education (in specialties)" is binary (double). The qualification "3340 Teacher of vocational training", which is conditioned by the successful psychological and pedagogical preparation of students, is common for all specializations. The importance of interdisciplinary links in the training of vocational education teachers is extremely important. Because, their successful implementation allows us to comprehend in the future polydisciplinarity and transdisciplinarity, as a strategies for the long and productive development of scientific knowledge.

Development and implementation of electronic records management system (ERMS) require the university to develop a strategy that is aligned to a records management programme. Successful implementation of electronic records management systems requires top management support through finance allocations, appointment of skilled personnel, collaboration of internal and external stakeholders, capacity development, and information communication technology infrastructure. When the researcher assessed South African universities with records to adoption of ERMS, it was found that most of the universities adopted effective and efficient records management systems.

Purpose Identification of factors for electronic records management system (ERMS) adoption is important as it allows organizations to focus their efforts on these factors to ensure success. The purpose of this paper is to identify the factors that influence ERMS adoption in the Yemeni oil and gas (O&G) sector. Design/methodology/approach This paper conducts a systematic literature review (SLR) to extract the most common factors that could facilitate successful ERMS adoption. Information technology (IT) experts were asked to rank the extracted factors via an e-mail questionnaire and to recommend specific critical success factors that must be given extra attention to increasing the success of ERMS adoption. Essentially, the proposed methodology is technology-organization-environment (TOE) modeling to examine the important factors influencing decision-makers in the Yemeni O&G sector regarding ERMS adoption. Findings This paper identifies factors influencing ERMS adoption based on SLR and an expert-ranking survey. The data that were collected from IT experts were analyzed using the statistical package for the social sciences. The results showed that only 12 out of 20 factors were significant. The experts then added three new factors, resulting in 15 significant factors classified into the three dimensions as follows: technology, organization and environment. Originality/value Limited studies have been carried out in the context of the O&G sector, even among developed countries such as Canada, the UK and Australia. These studies have focused on a limited number of factors for ERMS adoption targeting better utilization of human resources, faster and more user-friendly system responses and suitability for organizational ease. This paper explores the factors that may prove useful in adopting of ERMS in the O&G sector of developing countries, similar to Yemen.

The importance of information has influenced many organizations especially in developed countries such as UK and USA to invest in their information management budget to ensure their survival and comply with the law requirement of their countries. Information could determine the organizations’ success or failures since the process of decisions making mainly must be based on it. To be of value, information must be recorded. This recorded information which contains evident must be preserved. This is because records are evidence of organizational activities, transactions and decisions. Information embed in records supports business functions and are critical for the assessment of organizational performance. Records carry information created as the product of transactions carried out by organizations. Without reliable records agencies and governments could not manage their resources, its revenue or civil service and also cannot deliver services such as education and healthcare. Yemeni Universities and Community colleges where Higher Professional Education (HPE) is adopted to make full use of information embedded in records in any decision made. Yemen started introducing and implementing the HPE system which offers highly qualified specialists to the labor market with the help and support from Netherland government. The HPE project implemented more than five new outcomes based education (OBE) programs at three institutions namely the Industrial Technical Institute (ITI), Aden Community College and Sana’a Community College (SCC).OBE is a portfolio cantered system and the assessment method is depending on recorded information in the documents disclosed in the portfolio. The evaluation decision is based on the reliable information in the portfolio. It is impossible for an educational organization to function efficiently without proper ERM .However, there is not framework as guidance for managing these electronic records, thus making ERM ineffective and efficient leaving evaluation decisions not persuasive. To assess, evaluate and make decisions successfully Yemen’s HPE system requires a framework for managing its electronic records in order to be relevant and trustworthy for making decisions.

Within the implementation of the national strategy for improving financial competency and financial education in Russia, aimed at the broad masses of the population, any experience in promoting financial competency among young people, accumulated in the system of training bachelors of Economics, will be useful. The purpose of the article is to present the methodological and practical aspects of teaching the basics of financial calculations of future economists and the formation of computer modeling skills in the field of financial and economic activity. The reason for writing the article was the problem of interdisciplinary integration in the system of financial and economic education. The analysis of educational literature and curricula of the system of secondary and higher professional education, as well as the study and generalization of pedagogical experience showed weak integration of mathematical and economic disciplines with information technologies. The article also presents the problems associated with the calculations in the financial and economic activities with the use of computer modeling. The elements of the presented methods of teaching the basics of financial computing in conjunction with the modeling of financial problems on the computer can be useful for both school teachers and university teachers of mathematics and computer science.
