Risks that are “Worthy” to take: Temporary Workers’ Risk-Benefit Perceptions

In order to deepen and broaden understanding on the occupational safety and health disparities between temporary and non-temporary workers, psychological and perceptual gaps between the two groups need to be carefully investigated, particularly in relation to risk taking behaviors. To this end, the present study showed the precarious nature of temporary employment in terms of perceived job security and perceived job control. Although the present study showed that risk perception is not significantly different across the temporary and non-temporary worker groups, temporary workers tended to perceive higher monetary benefits from potentially hazardous working opportunities and reported greater willingness to undertake the working opportunities than non-temporary workers. Temporary workers may be more likely to view the working opportunities in hazardous occupational settings as risks that are worthy to take. These findings need to be incorporated in the safety management of temporary workers to promote self-regulatory engagement in safer and healthier behaviors.

Workers in the temporary staffing industry face hazardous working conditions and have a high risk of occupational injury. This project brought together local workers’ centers and university investigators to build a corps of Occupational Health Promoters (OHPs) and to test a survey tool and recruitment methods to identify hazards and raise awareness among workers employed by temporary staffing companies. OHPs interviewed ninety-eight workers employed by thirty-three temporary agencies and forty-nine client companies, working mainly in shipping and packing, manufacturing, and warehousing sectors. Surveys identified workplace hazards. OHPs reported two companies to OSHA, resulting in several citations. Partners reported greater understanding of occupational safety and health challenges for temporary workers and continue to engage in training, peer education, and coalition building.

The purpose of this study was to determine the Strategy for the Implementation of Occupational Health and Safety Management (K3) implemented by the company to minimize or reduce the number of accidents and occupational diseases. This type of research is a qualitative research using a descriptive approach and the data needed are primary data and secondary data derived from observations, interviews and documentation analyzed by researchers so as to obtain accurate and clear data regarding the strategy for implementing K3 Management by PLN (Persero) UIP3B Sumatra in Pekanbaru City. The results of this study indicate that the Strategy for Implementation of Occupational Safety and Health (K3) Management by PLN (Persero) UIP3B Sumatra in Pekanbaru City However, the implementation of occupational safety and health management carried out by PLN (Persero) UIP3B Sumatra has not achieved the expected goals, this happens because there are still inhibiting factors, namely low employee competence, lack of awareness from employees of the importance of K3 and lack of K3 supervision with reference to Government Regulation Number 50 of 2012.

Occupational safety and health (OSH) issues have become a major concern to many corporations in Malaysia since the enactment of the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994. While safety management system has been researched, only limited literatures have given attention to warehousing. The development of effective partnerships between customers and vendors to identify opportunities for enhancing safety management system. Employee safety behaviour in the workplace is crucial in approaching towards safety compliance and safety performance indicators. The main objective was to test the safety behaviour of the workers. Data were collected throughout the warehousing processes of a multinational electronics manufacturer in Malaysia. A questionnaire has been filled-up by the warehousing employees. This study proposes the theory of planned behaviour were to explain the linkage between customer - vendor partnership and safety behaviour. Respondents were questioned partnership with its customers to systematically improve safety behaviour. Usually most of the occupational accident or disease took place in the material handling operations and activities with cargo interface. The findings of this study show that customer-vendor partnership has a significant and positive relationship on safety behaviour. This approach to be examined for improved safety ownership and the possibility that enhancements would become an essential part of the vendor's processes, systems, and culture. This customer-vendor partnership approach will develop safety improvements for next heights of success. SPSS was applied for processing the data. It was found that information dissemination and collaboration with the client are important. Employees should participate in the safety program as required by the clients so as to obtain the merits of high performance workforce.

In this paper the author summarized the definitions and operationalisations of the safety culture and safety climate concepts. He analyzed the Hungarian and international safetymanagement scientific literatures. He also analyzed the scientific definitions and summarised the common and different elements. The author emphasizes that the many different scientific safety culture researches had been created good possibilities to find the common surfaces. Based on the international safety culture operationalisation practices the author identified a composition of safety culture dimensions which could be a possible basis for the Hungarian safety culture researches. Occupational Health and Safety (K3) is aimed as an effort to create a workplace that is safe, healthy, free from environmental pollution, so that it can reduce and or be free from work accidents and occupational diseases and can have an impact on increasing work efficiency and productivity. The need for implementation and Monitoring of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System at PT. Mujur Lestari must have a good corporate culture and be able to contribute to SMK3. For that PT. Mujur Lestari makes implementation and Monitoring to minimize the risk of work accidents for employees. The sample used in this study were employees of PT. Mujur Lestari, totaling 81 people. The data collection method used a questionnaire while the analytical method used was multivariate analysis. The results showed that there was an influence between knowledge on the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (SMK3) at PT. Mujur Lestari with a tcount greater than ttable, the effect of applying the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (SMK3) with a tcount greater than ttable, the effect of Monitoring on the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (SMK3) with a greater tcount from ttable and there is no relationship between the implementation and Monitoring of the Occupational Safety and Health Management System (SMK3). The conclusion shows that the knowledge variable has a positive and significant effect on the Occupational Safety and Health Management System (SMK3), the application variable has a positive and significant impact on the Occupational Safety and Health Management System (SMK3) and the Monitoring variable has a positive and significant effect on the Occupational Safety and Health Management System. Introduction: The radiation dose is not controlled then the dose value will be accumulated. Then the dose received will be higher so that it can cause a drastic reduction in the number of lymphocytes. The purpose of this study was to analyze the application of occupational safety and health (K3) management to radiation at the radiology installation of Ernaldi Bahar Hospital, South Sumatra Province. Methods: This study uses qualitative methods with observational approaches, interviews and document studies. Result: The application of radiation safety management requirements at the radiology installation of Ernaldi Bahar Hospital, South Sumatra Province has not been carried out optimally. The application of radiation protection requirements, application of technical requirements, application of safety verification and health monitoring of radiation workers have been carried out properly. Conclusion: The implementation of occupational health and safety management on radiation at the radiology installation of Ernaldi Bahar Hospital, South Sumatra Province, has been going well. Keywords: Radiation, Management to Radiation, X-ray

Investment construction projects are implemented under constant changes, which forces managers to assess the uncertainty and risks they generate, to manage changes in their own activities and activities of construction organizations. The article describes the main methodological approaches to the development of a model of risks of investment construction projects in the field of labor safety and protection. The approach is based on the method of quantitative assessment depending on the level of processes being evaluated and data characterizing these processes. The proposed concept will make it possible to develop an algorithm and a computational and analytical model for the subsequent automation of the process of quantitative assessment of risks and the dynamics of their change on the basis of the information-digital system. For example, the Corporate Occupational Safety Management System, developed and used by NIPIGAZ JSC to manage occupational safety processes, ensure industrial and fire safety, environmental protection, will make it possible to put into practice the methods of predictive and operational risk analysis, increasing the efficiency of the investment construction project.

Implementation of Occupational Safety and Health at PT. Multi Nabati Unit Maleo is done by Enviromental Unit, Health and Safety. EHS is a policy applied by PT Multi Nabati Unit Maleo in providing protection for the safety and health of its workers. EHS is a direct handle or the first handle if there is an accident and also work to make preventive efforts to prevent accidents. In addition, the company develops the health and work safety management system (SMK3 & L). The efforts undertaken by PT Multi Nabati To reduce the risk of occupational accidents by applying: Engineering (engineering), Administration (administration) and Labor must use APD (Personal protective equipment).
