Background: Static and dynamic exercises are performed before activity to decrease injury risk and increase performance. Although evidence supports using dynamic over static stretching and performing Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) 11+ as a dynamic prepractice routine, we do not know the frequency at which these exercises are utilized in high school populations. Hypothesis: We hypothesize that there is a wide variety of preparticipation exercises performed by high school athletes, and that few high school teams perform FIFA 11+ as an injury prevention program in its entirety. Study Design: Observational study. Level of Evidence: Level 4. Methods: High school prepractice routines were observed for 185 teams (football, soccer, basketball, and lacrosse) over 1 season. The percentages of team warm-up routines that included components of FIFA 11+ were calculated, and the chi-square test was used to compare sex, sport, and level of competition. Results: Of a total 644 warm-up observations, 450 (69.9%) included only non–FIFA 11+ exercises, 56 (8.7%) included at least 1 FIFA 11+ exercise, and 38 (5.9%) included only jogging; 69 (10.6%) consisted only of sport-specific activities. The type of warm-up differed significantly between males and females ( P = 0.002), sports ( P < 0.001), and level of competition ( P < 0.001). Static stretching and athletes stretching on their own were observed in 14% and 15% of all observations. No team performed the FIFA 11+ injury prevention routine in its entirety. Conclusion: The type of warm-up differed by sex, sport, and level of competition. Static stretching was performed more frequently than anticipated, and an entire FIFA 11+ warm-up was never performed. Clinical Relevance: We need to identify the exercises that decrease injury and increase performance and better inform the athletic population about the risks and benefits of static and dynamic warm-up programs.

Background Injury prevention programs have been shown to be effective for adolescent soccer, basketball, and handball athletes. Though injuries are common in high school runners, injury prevention programs have not been described for this population. Our objective was to trial an injury-prevention program styled after those found to be successful in other running and jumping sports to see if a group of running athletes sustained fewer and or less serious injuries during the course of a single high school track season. Methods Two suburban high school track coaches volunteered to participate in a program consisting of either injury-prevention exercises or no additional exercises as a part of pre-and in-season practice programs. All runners at each school were invited to participate, with informed consent obtained. The injury prevention program consisted of five jumping and plyometric exercises taught by a physical therapist, with a video of the exercises made available to the coach and team members throughout the season. Surveys pre- and post-season were collected which included demographic information, running history, diet, and injuries. Injuries were reported to coach and trainer at each school. Days of missed practice constituted an injured day, tallied for each runner and each team. A Chi-square analysis compared injury rates by team, and hence by intervention; injury rates by years of experience running; and injury rates by dietary preference. Results 24 runners, 13 from the intervention school and 11 from the control school participated. There was no significant difference in the number of running injuries reported when comparing the intervention group (4/13 runners) to the control group (3/11 runners, Chi-square = 0.035, p = 0.9). Runners with a greater number of years of competitive running experience trended towards having fewer injuries (p = 0.06). Those describing their diet as vegetarian (3/24) were significantly more likely to sustain an injury (p = 0.002). Conclusions / Significance With this limited comparison study examining the impact of an injury-prevention pre-season and in-season training program for running athletes participating on their high school track team, there was no evidence that the addition of a program of jumping and plyometric exercises had an impact on injury rates. However, combining the data from the two schools, we found a trend towards decreased injury likelihood in those with more years of experience running, and a significantly greater incidence of injuries in those who described their diet as vegetarian. These results suggest that novice runners should perhaps have a different set of expectations regarding the pre- and in-season training regimen, and that those whose diet is vegetarian consider review of their nutrition to optimize their energy level and reparative capacity with the increased activity of a high school track running program.

Background: Sport specialization is a strategy to acquire superior sport performance in 1 sport but is associated with increased injury risk. Currently, the degree of high school specialization among Division I athletes is unknown. Hypothesis: College athletes will display increased rates of specialization as they progress through their high school careers. Study Design: Descriptive epidemiological study. Level of Evidence: Level 4. Methods: Three hundred forty-three athletes (115 female) representing 9 sports from a Midwest Division I University completed a previously utilized sport specialization questionnaire regarding sport participation patterns for each grade of high school. McNemar and chi-square tests were used to investigate associations of grade, sport, and sex with prevalence of sport specialization category (low, moderate, high) (a priori P ≤ 0.05). Results: Specialization increased throughout high school, with 16.9% (n = 58) and 41.1% (n = 141) of athletes highly specialized in 9th and 12th grades, respectively. Football athletes were less likely to be highly specialized than nonfootball athletes for each year of high school ( P < 0.001). There was no difference in degree of specialization between sexes at any grade level ( P > 0.23). Conclusion: The majority of Division I athletes were not classified as highly specialized throughout high school, but the prevalence of high specialization increased as athletes progressed through high school. Nonfootball athletes were more likely to be highly specialized than football athletes at each grade level. Clinical Relevance: Most athletes who are recruited to participate in collegiate athletics will eventually specialize in their sport, but it does not appear that early specialization is necessary to become a Division I athlete. Athletes should be counseled regarding safe participation in sport during high school to minimize injury and maximize performance.

Introduction: Early marriage that occurs cannot be separated from parental support, they have the perception that marrying off their children at an early age to keep their children safe, and put pressure on children not to continue their education due to low economics. Methods: To find out how the relationship between parenting families with the perception of early marriage in adolescents, Knowing the description of parenting patterns for early marriage in adolescents. Research Methods: This study is a quantitative study, with a descriptive correlation type of design. Samples were taken through random sampling with a cross sectional approach. Results: From the results of bivariate analysis using the chi square test, the p-value of 0.038 (<0. 05) can be concluded so that it can be concluded that there is a relationship between family parenting patterns and perceptions of early marriage in adolescents in Senior High School 1 Plus Computer Nerwork Engineering in 2021. Conclusion: The results of the respondents were 50 female students and 30 male students. The results of the respondents' parenting in the family were 42.5% good, 57.5% good enough, and 0 bad parenting

Abstract Objective: To estimate the prevalence of back pain in adolescent girls, and determine whether this pain is associated with socioeconomic, demographic, anthropometric, and behavioral factors. Methods: This was an epidemiological survey with a representative sample of 495 female high school students, aged 14 to 18 years, in the municipality of São Leopoldo in the southern Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul. Data were collected through a self-administered questionnaire with closed, standardized, coded, and tested questions. Bivariate analysis included the chi-square test (x2) and calculation of prevalence ratios (α<0.05). Results: The prevalence of back pain was 75.2%. The thoracic-lumbar (30.4%) and lumbar (27.7%) regions of the spine were most affected. Among the students with pain, 60.5% reported the severity of their pain to be moderate to severe, and 21.2% reported that the pain prevented them from performing activities of daily living. Regarding associated factors, the pain was more prevalent in overweight/obese students (RP = 1.246, 95% CI: 1.137 to 1.366), who reported carrying a heavy school backpack/bag (PR = 1.187, 95% CI: 1.073 to 1.314) and those who had incorrect posture when picking up objects from the floor (PR = 1.138, 95% CI: 1.031 to 1.256). Conclusions: There was a high prevalence of back pain associated with body mass index, reported weight of the student's school backpack/bag, and posture when picking up objects from the floor.

Objetivo: Los objetivos del presente estudio fueron conocer la frecuencia de lesiones en una temporada, analizar hábitos de calentamiento, identificar factores de riesgos intrínsecos y extrínsecos relacionados con lesiones y establecer relaciones entre las variables del cuestionario y las lesiones en jugadoras de baloncesto. Método: Setenta jugadoras (23±6 años) de baloncesto federadas participaron en este estudio descriptivo retrospectivo utilizando una adaptación de un cuestionario de lesiones deportivas autocompletado por las jugadoras, el cual contenía variables relacionadas con la aparición y prevención de lesiones en el baloncesto. Se realizó un análisis de frecuencias y porcentajes y tablas de contingencia mediante el test de Chi-Cuadrado. Resultados: Se encontraron relaciones significativas entre el número de sesiones y las jugadoras lesionadas (p <.05), así como la realización de la práctica en diferentes pavimentos a lo largo de la temporada (p <.05). Las jugadoras utilizaban una tipología de calentamiento tradicional, alejado de las recomendaciones actuales. La estructura anatómica más afectada fue el tobillo/pie seguido de la rodilla, siendo el esguince el tipo de lesión predominante. Conclusión: Aumentar el número de sesiones semanales está relacionado con un incremento del número de lesiones. Las lesiones de las articulaciones del tobillo/pie y la rodilla son las más frecuentes en este deporte. Realizar la práctica de baloncesto en distintas superficies a lo largo de la temporada podría incrementar el número de lesiones. Abstract. Objective: The aim of this study was to assess the frequency of injuries over a season, analyse warm-up routines, identify intrinsic and extrinsic risk factors related to injuries, and establish relationships between the variables of the questionnaire and injuries in female basketball players. Methods: Seventy female players (23±6 years) from federated basketball teams participated in this retrospective descriptive study, which used an adaptation of a sports injury questionnaire filled by the players and containing variables related to the occurrence and prevention of injuries in basketball. Analysis of frequencies and percentages and contingency tables was carried out using the Chi-Square test. Results: Significant relationships were found between number of sessions and injured players (p <.05), as well as the carrying out of practices on different surfaces throughout the season (p <.05). The players used a typology of traditional warm-up, far from the current recommendations. The most affected anatomical structure was the ankle/foot followed by the knee, sprain being the predominant type of injury. Conclusions: Increasing the number of weekly sessions is associated to an increase in the number of injuries. Injuries to ankle/foot and knee joints are the most common in this sport. Playing basketball on different surfaces throughout the season may increase the number of injuries.

Background: Many ice hockey goaltending techniques force hip joints and groin muscles into extreme ranges of motion, which may increase the risk of hip and groin problems. Purpose: To explore how elite goaltenders and goaltending coaches perceive the demands of common goaltending techniques on the hip and groin region. We further explored differences in perception between goaltenders and their coaches as well as between junior (age <20 years) and senior (age ≥20 years) goaltenders. Study Design: Cross-sectional survey. Methods: We developed a model to categorize common ice hockey goaltending techniques into quantifiable units and invited elite goaltenders and coaches in Sweden to complete an online survey. Participants were asked to rate the perceived demands of each technique on the hip and groin using a Likert scale (not at all, slightly, somewhat, very, or extremely demanding). Using the chi-square test, the proportion of participants perceiving each technique as very or extremely demanding were compared between goaltenders and coaches as well as between senior and junior goaltenders. Results: We received responses from 132 goaltenders and 43 coaches. The stances most frequently perceived as very or extremely demanding were the reverse vertical horizontal post-play (40%) and the butterfly save (25%). Among transitions, movements into the post were most frequently rated as very or extremely demanding (11%–40%). Several techniques were perceived as demanding by a larger share of coaches than goaltenders (difference, 13%–46%; P < .001–.028) and a larger share of senior versus junior goaltenders (difference, 12%–20%; P = .13–.18). Conclusion: The post-play and the butterfly were the goaltending techniques most frequently perceived as demanding, and more coaches than goaltenders percieved these techniques demanding. The results of this study may inform injury prevention efforts for ice hockey goaltending.

Physical fi tness is the ability of each individual to carry out various daily activities without feeling fatigue. Physical fi tness is useful as a supporting capacity for the physical activity of children therefore it is expected to improve their health and achievement. Factors that infl uence physical fi tness include genetics, age, gender, physical activity, nutritional status, food intake, haemoglobin level, resting time and smoking habits. The purpose of this study was to analyze the risk factors of physical fi tness among female students in Muhammadiyah 1 Ponorogo High School. This case control study included 50 female students and divided into 25 cases and 25 controls. Chi-Square test was used to analyze the relationships between variables. The results showed that there was an association between protein adequacy (p=0.023) OR = 11.3 and haemoglobin levels (p=0.049) OR = 9.3 with physical fi tness. While the adequacy of iron (p=0.345) did not associated with physical fi tness. Student with low protein adequacy and haemoglobin level have respectively 11.3 and 9.3 times higher risk of having low physical fi tness than student with good protein adequacy and haemoglobin level.

Objective: To compare the patient experience of a virtual otolaryngology clinic visit to an in-person visit, especially with its significantly increased implementation during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: Patient satisfaction (PS) metrics from the Clinician and Group Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems survey were queried from March 1, 2020 to May 1, 2020 for telehealth visits and January 1, 2020 to March 1, 2020 for in-person visits. Overlapping and comparable questions were analyzed using Mann-Whitney U test, Chi-square test for independence, and Student’s t-test. Results: There were 1284 partial or complete PS surveys from in-person visits and 221 partial or complete virtual PS surveys. There were statistically significantly worse virtual visit evaluations of provider listening, conveyance of information, likelihood to recommend, and overall provider ratings compared to in-person visits. Conclusion: Telehealth has become the new norm for most healthcare providers in the United States. This study demonstrates some of the initial shortcomings of telehealth in an otolaryngology practice and identifies challenges with interpersonal communication that may need to be addressed as telehealth becomes increasingly prevalent. Level of Evidence: Three.
