This paper investigates if farmers’ asset values have a predictive power to asses land quality. A rich sustainable livelihood literature describes small farmers’ biophysical and socio-economic environment through asset values, which closely adheres to the required information for an integrated quality appraisal of the natural resource base. For our analysis we use an in-depth survey held among 50 famers’ households in three rural areas of Senegal. Farmers gave scores for their livelihood assets (human, physical, natural, financial and social) and judgments on the state and trend of the quality of their natural resource base (crop land, rangeland, forest and water resources). As our observational data are dominated by unobserved heterogeneity, we refrain from causal statistical analysis and seek associative patterns between asset values and state and trend of natural resource quality using data visualization techniques and descriptive statistics. We compare categorical data on state and trend of land qualities with asset value classes in a frequency distributions evaluation (Chi-square) and with continuous asset value scores in an analysis of variance (ANOVA). For state of forest we found consistent but counterintuitive differences for various asset values with higher asset values for ‘degraded’ classes and lower values for ‘good’ quality of the forests. There is some evidence that trend of forest quality can be derived from asset value scores which were in agreement with our premise of lower scores for low quality and higher scores for better quality. Yet, overall we have to conclude that asset values do not correlate straightforward and unequivocally with state and trend of natural resource quality.

With the rapid development of society and computer technology, the combination of mathematics with computer technology is playing an increasingly important role in each field of society. In this paper, we mainly discusses the important role of MATLAB software in mathematical modeling, so as to raise the understanding of MATLAB and the efficiency of mathematical modeling with MATLAB software, and then improve the ability to solve practical problems. This paper explains the general process of mathematical modeling, studies the function and characteristic of MATLAB and its application in mathematical modeling. There are analysis of the key technologies and solutions required in the development process. Practice has proved that the MATLAB mathematical modeling can be used to improve the efficiency and quality of mathematical modeling, enriching the ways and means of mathematical modeling, and has great effect on the teaching of mathematical modeling course.

As one of the key technologies of the future development of the Internet, Virtual reality technique is more and more used in the field of Physical Education. Its appearance will subvert traditional sport sports teaching mode and education thinking, and brings a series of major changes for sports education. As for the limitations of modern sports teaching mode, this article is to analyze how virtual reality technique apply to physical education, and build a new sports teaching mode based on virtual reality technique and provide a more scientific, systematic theoretical reference for improving the quality of teaching and optimizing teaching methods with the combination of situational cognitive theory.

The eruption of Mount Sinabung consistently and material issued increasingly large volume has caused plant and agricultural land damaged. Agricultural land damage was caused by the material issued mountain area is 10.945,24 ha. The role of technology and the results of research that has been done to agricultural lands caused the eruption of Mount Sinabung to be recommendations for the improvement of agricultural land. Efforts to improve the aspects of physical and chemical land are conservation, rehabilitation land of sand and the increase in the quality of the land. The thickness of volcanic ash after an eruption of covering agricultural land can be divided into 4 classes, namely: thin (the thickness < 2 cm), medium (thickness 2- 5 cm and thick (> 5 cm). Efforts for the recovery and rehabilitation land on each cluster based on the thickness of the dungeon ashes were normal processing with a hoe or plow, fertilizing with of organic matter and to the lava, dungeon needs to be done the conservation and land rehabilitation by an annual plant / the forest. The rehabilitation of agricultural land that badly damaged by eruption material may not be restored in a short time because of soil conditions which are acid, rocky and sandy. Thus the programs carried out by gradually and different treatment in accordance with their condition agricultural land.

Due to the continuous development of urbanization, it had a serious impact on urban ecology. Therefore, techniques to improve the living environment and quality of life in urban areas as well as ways to improve aesthetics and greening of urban gardens have gradually become the focus of attention. Re-building and arranging the green plant community rationally can effectively improve the quality of people's living environment. Besides, by maximizing ecological functions, it can better improve the quality of urban environmental. This paper introduces key technologies of green planting construction in urban landscaping projects and suggest ways to improve the urban ecological environment by viewing it from existing problems in the current urban ecological environment.

This paper was designed to capture the determinants of the agricultural total factor productivity (TFP) level across 60 provinces in Vietnam during the period 1990-2006. The TFP level in Tornqvist form was used to regress on 4 groups of determinants: omitted inputs of agricultural production process; quality of inputs used in agricultural production; technology factors; and output structure. The estimated results showed that: (i) Vietnam’s agricultural sector became relatively more capital intensive; (ii) South provinces were more productive, while North Midlands and Central Coast tended to lag further behind; (iii) labour mobility played a very important role in resources accumulation in agriculture in Vietnam, and so in improving TFP; and (iv) agricultural TFP was significantly influenced by land quality, farm size and land fragmentation.

Purpose. Theoretical substantiation of principles and development of recommendations for the choice of technological variant to form the quality of lands of technogenic origin, which would ensure rational spending of funds allotted for reclamation and preservation of the reclaimed lands suitability for agricultural use with the highest requirements for agrophysical soil characteristics. Methods. The following methods were used in the process of the research: the method of theoretical generalization and systematization (to determine the characteristics peculiar to the formation of qualitative characteristics of man-made soil using mechanization of reclamation works), analytical (to determine the factors influencing the effectiveness of land reclamation in opencast mining), comparison (to analyze the efficiency of different versions of reclamation works mechanization). Findings. The influence of technical means of reclamation works mechanization on the quality of lands subject to restoration in conditions of opencast mining is analyzed. A methodological approach to the choice of mechanization of land reclamation works in respect to the indicators of the formed quality of technogenic agricultural lands as a factor of their monetary valuation and the level of costs for their reproduction is proposed. Recommendations for quality management of man-made lands by technical support of the process of their consumer properties formation, aimed at achieving a favorable ratio between quality and, accordingly, monetary valuation of man-made lands, on the one hand, and, on the other, – the cost of their reclamation. Originality.A scientific and methodological approach to the choice of technical equipment for reclamation works is proposed, where two factors are considered: reclamation costs and quality of man-made lands, which allows to determine the priority of cost savings or land quality improvement according to the target criterion of reclamation works efficiency. Practical implications. The obtained results are aimed at improving the methodological bases for management of the man-made lands reclamation process based on the choice of its mechanization means. Keywords: land quality, reclamation costs, monetary valuation of lands, reclamation technology, reclamation efficiency
