The European Alien Species Information Network (EASIN) was created with the aim to provide easy access to accurate information on alien species in Europe. EASIN allows the retrieval of spatial information from existing online data providers in order to produce integrated georeferenced distribution maps of alien species in Europe. In November 2012, a new data provider, the Ellenic Network on Aquatic Invasive Species (ELNAIS), joined EASIN; this has significantly increased the available georeferenced information on marine/estuarine alien species in Greek waters. Here, we use maps created by EASIN to show differences in patterns of distribution in Greece for the most abundant Phyla of marine alien species - Mollusca, Arthropoda, Chordata and Annelida. We also show that the two main pathways of introduction of marine alien species (Lessepsian migration and Shipping) are related to different patterns of species spatial distribution in Greece. Overall, the tools provided by EASIN can greatly aid scientists and policy makers in obtaining high quality information on marine alien species in Greece, especially after the association with ELNAIS.

The appearance of online map services and frameworks (e.g., KML, QGIS) has increased the possibilities to easily, quickly and—in many cases—cost-effectively publish spatial data stored in databases. The aim of this study is to present the geovisualization of spatial databases of a Hungarian settlement on the web, using the open source webGIS system and Google application programming interfaces (APIs). The interactive point and interpolated distribution maps available online provide a detailed picture of the level of contamination, the spatial distribution of the ground water supply of the investigated settlement, and the changes which have occurred following the establishment of the sewage system. In the case of PO43− we determined that in the year before the sewage system was constructed, most of the area of the settlement could be considered contaminated, with the highest level of contamination measured in the central area of the settlement. Five years after the construction of the sewage system, the ratio of the contaminated areas had significantly decreased. In the case of NO3− we found a high level of contamination before the construction of the sewage system with a concentration increase in a North–West direction. After the establishment of the sewage system, the increase in concentration was the most intense in the central parts of the settlement, while the characteristic spatial distribution could no longer be observed. The geovisualization techniques developed are able to provide information about the different spatial data for users in a visual way, and also help to understand better the spatial information using a cognitive approach. The advantage of interactive web maps created with the technologies applied over traditional static maps is a new approach, which allows the user to manipulate the temporal and spatial data directly in the most appropriate way.

The availability of updated and easy access to geospatial data and information is the main thing in disaster mitigation and sustainable spatial planning. This needs to be supported by the rapid development of technology in the aspect of spreading data and spatial information via the internet. The Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) is realized as an implementation of spatial data distribution. SDI is an integrated mechanism to make it easier for spatial data users to access, search, share, and use spatial data and information. Built upon the background statements, the research does intend to develop a web-app which is functioned as a data repository, viewer, and also simple processing (web GIS). To design and develop a disaster geospatial online application web-app that has an integrated function (repository-web GIS) following the directions and input from user feedback becomes the fold of the research. . The importance of putting the user needs in building a web-app to be used by anyone universally is more realistic and practical. The user interface is very essential in bridging communication between users and web mapping systems. User-centred design (UCD) implemented by gathering input and feedback from users. UCD describes the process of ensuring interface success throughout the design and development of the interface. GeoNode has chosen as the platform since it is open-sourced, and commonly used for managing and publishing geospatial data. Based on respondents' assessment of the quality of content/information that important to be developed in a disaster website, it is recognized that providing reliable and up-to-date data and information (69%) and the accuracy of data and information (74%) are the most important things to develop in the InDITA application. the most important features to respondents are the spatial data display feature/map viewer (89%). The design of InDITA was built interactive and user-friendly which designed as an application that accommodates simple viewer, data repository, and web GIS functions. The interactive design emerged as the demand for app users.

<p>Due to the european INSPIRE directive to establish an infrastructure for spatial information in Europe, the number of national data sources in Europe which are open to the public or at least science continues to grow. </p><p>However, challenges remain to enable easy access for society and science  to these previously unavailable data silos based on standardized web-services, as defined by the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC). This is crucial to ensure sustainable data generation and reuse according to the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable). </p><p>We report on an interdisciplinary application, using spatial data to improve longitudinal surveys in the social sciences, involving building plans encoded in CityGML, PostGIS, MapServer and R.</p><p>The Socio-economic Panel (SOEP) as part of the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin) provides longitudinal data on persons living in private households across Germany. Lately the SOEP sampled households in certain neighborhoods within cities, areas of the so called „Soziale Stadt“ (social town). Because of restricted area, spatially referenced data has been used. Information on the level of census tiles provided by the Federal Statistical Office was used to form regional clusters. </p><p>Within these clusters addresses, spatially referenced by the German Federal Agency for Cartography and Geodesy (BKG), have been sampled. This way, we made sure addresses are within the neighborhoods to be surveyed. As this procedure turned out to reduce organizational burden for the survey research institute as well as for the interviewers and at the same time allows for generating random household samples, it is considered for future use. Yet, addresses can belong to residential buildings as well as cinemas or hotels. </p><p>To meet with this obstacle we evaluate the use of 3D Building Models provided by the German Federal Agency for Cartography and Geodesy (BKG).<br>This data is distributed as compressed data archives for the 16 states of Germany, each containing very large numbers of CityGML files containing  LoD1 data sets for buildings. The large storage footprint of these data sets makes their reuse by social scientists using standard  statistical software (such as R or Stata) on desktop computers difficult at best. This is overcome by providing flexible access to Areas of Interest (AOI) through OGC Webservices (WMS/WFS) based on a PostGIS database. The ingestion process is based on the new GMLAS driver of the ogr software project for Complex Features encoded in Geographic Markup Language (GML) based on application schemas.</p>

The spatial information regarding the use of territory is one of the many strategies used to answer and to inform about what happened, what is happening and what may happen in geographic space. Therefore, the mapping of land use as a communication tool for the spatial data made significant progress in improving sources of information, especially over the last few decades, with new generation remote sensing products for data manipulation.

Spatial queries frequently used in Hadoop for significant data process. However, vast and massive size of spatial information makes it difficult to process the spatial inquiries proficiently, so they utilized the Hadoop system for process Big Data. We have used Boolean Queries & Geometry Boolean Spatial Data for Query Optimization using Hadoop System. In this paper, we show a lightweight and adaptable spatial data index for big data which will process in Hadoop frameworks. Results demonstrate the proficiency and adequacy of our spatial ordering system for various spatial inquiries.

Spatial information technology has been widely used for vehicles in general and for fleet management. Many studies have focused on improving vehicle positioning accuracy, although few studies have focused on efficiency improvements for managing large truck fleets in the context of the current complex network of roads. Therefore, this paper proposes a multilayer-based map matching algorithm with different spatial data structures to deal rapidly with large amounts of coordinate data. Using the dimension reduction technique, the geodesic coordinates can be transformed into plane coordinates. This study provides multiple layer grouping combinations to deal with complex road networks. We integrated these techniques and employed a puncture method to process the geometric computation with spatial data-mining approaches. We constructed a spatial division index and combined this with the puncture method, which improves the efficiency of the system and can enhance data retrieval efficiency for large truck fleet dispatching. This paper also used a multilayer-based map matching algorithm with raster data structures. Comparing the results revealed that the look-up table method offers the best outcome. The proposed multilayer-based map matching algorithm using the look-up table method is suited to obtaining competitive performance in identifying efficiency improvements for large truck fleet dispatching.

The final goal of this paper was to fix a brief summary on the status of geographic information in Italy due to the technological steps and national regulations. The acquisition, processing and sharing of spatial data has experienced a significant acceleration thanks to the development of computer technology and the acknowledgment of the need for standardization and homogenization of information held by pub­lic authorities and individuals. The spatial data represents the essential knowledge in the management and development of a territory both in terms of planning for safety and environmental prevention. In Italy there is an enormous heritage of spatial information which is historically affected by a problem of consistency and uniformity, in order to make it often contradictory in its use by the public decision-maker and private par­ties. The recent history of geographic information is characterized by a significant effort aimed at optimiz­ing this decisive technical and cultural heritage allowing the use of it to all citizens in a logic of sharing and re-use and may finally represent a common good available to all.

Safe clinical practice in implant dentistry requires an accurate investigation of the availability of bone for implant placement and the avoidance of critical anatomical structures. Modern imaging techniques using computed tomography (CT) and cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) provide the clinician with the required information. The imaging thus obtained provides accurate representation of the height, width and length of the available bone.1 In addition, whenever adequate radiation dose is used, accurate information about the bone density in Hounsfield units can be obtained. Important spatial information regarding the orientation of the ridges and the relationship to the proposed prosthetic reconstruction can be obtained with the aid of radiopaque templates during the acquisition of CT scan data. Modern software also provides the facility to decide interactively upon the positioning of the implants and is able to relate this to a stereolithographic model constructed from the imaging data. A surgical guide for the accurate positioning of the implants can be constructed. The construction of screw retained prostheses is fraught with difficulties regarding the accuracy of the construction. Accurate fit of the prosthesis is difficult to obtain due to the inherent errors in impression taking, component discrepancies, investing and casting inaccuracies.2,3 CAD/CAM technology eliminates the inaccuracies involved with the investing and casting of superstructures. Clinical Case This case describes the management of an 84 year old female patient, who had recently lost her remaining mandibular anterior teeth. This resulted in the patient's inability to wear conventional dentures in the mandible.
