In this literature review, the authors examine the actual problem in dentistry - the modern criteria for evaluation of aesthetic results of orthopedic treatment, they analyze the main objectives of treatment to improve the aesthetic parameters, such as: restore the functions of mastication and speech formation, normalization aesthetic appearance and eliminating the negative impact of a partial or complete absence of teeth, and defects and deformities of the jaws that affect the mental state of the patient. Often, the desire to eliminate blemishes, enhance facial contours encourages patients to visit a dental clinic. Thus, the functional defects bother them less. Evaluation of aesthetic results is a very important problem in dental treatment, as because of violations of the communicative and social functions associated with the aesthetic perception of their own persons, patients in many cases, feel the psychological tension and discomfort, especially teenagers, children, women suffer from this. Often these patients turn in on themselve, their social circle is shrinking and interest in life decreases. Aesthetic dental defects of the mouth constrain open smile, people tend to speak slightly opening the lips, many people think that others are carefully looking out for their defects. Based on this problem the authors describe the basic criteria for evaluation of aesthetic results of dental treatment.

Statement of problem. Cleft Lip and Palate (CLP) are common congenital defects of the present day. They result from a failure of facial bud sticking during embryological phenomena. Their therapeutics based on multi-disciplinary care to restore as much as possible the aesthetic and functional prejudices generated by these anomalies. Purpose. Through this work, we will illustrate, through a clinical case supported at the Consultation and Dental Treatment Center of Rabat, clinical and laboratory stages of realization of Nasoalveolar Molding (NAM). Material and methods. We describe original techniques used in our service for manufacturing of NAM fireworks and we define recommendations after insertion and follow-up procedures.Result. Place of NAM in management of these anomalies has increasingly recommended, given limitations of surgery alone to ensure satisfactory aesthetic results. Several fixed or removable appliances has used, in order to reposition gaps in cleft and / or to reshape affected bordering tissues. Conclusion. Despite the controversies surrounding this therapy, it remains highly recommended and scientifically based.

Purpose This study aims to evaluate the effect of the installed photovoltaic (PV) systems on the aesthetic perception of the mosque’s architectural form. It also aims to develop a framework for integrating PV cells with the various elements of the building type. Design/methodology/approach The study adopted a mixed-method approach comprising both qualitative and quantitative techniques for data collection procedures. This includes surveys, literature review, focus groups and an experiment. Findings The results revealed a negative impact of the building-applied PV panels on people’s perception of the mosque’s architectural form. However, integrating the PV cells with the mosque form was perceived as more aesthetically pleasing. Certain integrating PV strategies integrated more harmoniously with certain mosque styles. Research limitations/implications This study is focused on limited styles of one building type. Extra research is needed to explore the differences between the different participated groups. Originality/value There is a lack of research that explores the ways the installed PV systems impact the users’ architectural aesthetic perception of the mosque. This study informs the design process and practice and construction industry by highlighting the opportunities PV systems, as a legitimate sustainable energy resource, offers to architects and manufacturers.

The influence on the global evaluation of a person based on the perception of a single trait is a phenomenon widely investigated in social psychology. Widely regarded as Halo effect, this phenomenon has been studied for more than 100 years now, and findings such as the relationship between aesthetic perception and other personality traits—such as competence and trustworthiness—have since been uncovered. Trustworthiness plays an especially crucial role in individuals' social interactions. Despite the large body of literature published on the Halo effect, and especially on the relationship between aesthetic appearance and perceived trustworthiness, little is known about the overall generalizability of the effect, as almost all of the studies have been conducted on adult participants from Western countries. Moreover, little is known about the stability of the effect over time, in the event of major destabilization, such as the outbreak of a pandemic. In this work, the cross-cultural generalizability of the Halo effect is investigated before and during the first few months of the COVID-19 pandemic. An analysis of the generalizability and stability over time of the Halo effect is presented. Participants (N = 380, N = 145 Asians, N = 235 Caucasians) have been asked to rate the aesthetic appearance and perceived trustworthiness of a set of human faces of different ages, gender, and ethnicity. Result of our analysis demonstrated that the Halo effect (Aesthetic × trustworthiness) is influenced by the age of presented faces, but not by their gender or ethnicity. Moreover, our results show that the strength of the effect can be affected by external events and that the volatility is higher for adults' than children's faces.

For a successful orthodontic treatment, it is crucial to examine the patient in both frontal and lateral views. Evaluation of the skeletal pattern and softs tissues including nasolabial angle, anteroposterior lip position, labiomental angle, and Lip-chin-submental plane angle must all be considered. Facial profile greatly affects the aesthetic appearance of the patients, however, not every person has the same aesthetic perception. This review aims to point out the indicators of facial profile and the perception of facial profile attractiveness among the different populations. Many studies have evaluated the preferences of facial profile, some of them agreed as a straight profile with normally positioned lips was the most favored, but some differences were noted between orthodontists and laypeople in the perception of the facial profile. Laypeople found a slightly retruded mandible or protruded mandible was found aesthetically pleasing for some populations. Therefore, it is important to involve the patient in treatment planning and decision-making.

The aesthetic problems associated with defects in appearance and wearing orthodontic appliances in the malocclusion, the negative impact on the psyche of the patient in all age groups. Malocclusion disturb the aesthetic appearance of the patient, causing functional disorders and pathological changes. The problem ofprevention and treatment ofdentoalveolar anomalies has not only medical, but also a social value. Many patients understand the needfor timely treatment to the dentist. Beautiful and straight teeth have become part of modern life, his well-being, health and social status. Any abnormalities always affect the psyche. Patients with dental system pathology suffer from changes in appearance, violations of phonetics, chewing function and this formed the difficulties in communication. Mental and emotional state plays an important role in human life, which affects the predictions of success and the development of treatments. Do not unimportant role in the treatment plays a dentist, his mood affects the man, and he has concluded on the basis of suggestion or self-hypnosis. The mood doctor can specifically change the whole picture of the disease, and set up a patient in a positive way. Therefore, the physician should become familiar with the individual characteristics of the patient and adjust it to the correct understanding of the disease that would yield results.

Nowadays, а lot of people require the reconstruction of teeth due to their loss. Before prosthetics or any other manipulations, the person wants to see the aesthetic appearance of his future teeth as soon as possible. So far, many dentists use the verbal explanation to the patient, how a smile will look like or after the treatment the frontal row of teeth, but the visual representation of the person stays away. But now this can be achieved with the help of «Digital smile design», which shows the person the final result of the dental row. This technology has a number of advantages. Some of them are the quick creation of a prototype model and high accuracy in making the work. Due to these, technologies have facilitated communication between a specialist and a patient. Digital smile design has simplified the doctor’s work process and reduced the patient’s data processing time. From now on, achieving aesthetic results in the reconstruction of teeth for the dentist is not a problem.

Objective: Our aim was to analyze our technique of a modified rotational advancement in conjunction with buccal mucosal grafts (BMGs) in a subgroup of severe cleft cases. Design: A retrospective clinical and photographic evaluation was conducted. Columella angle (CA) and tip projection (TPR) served as instruments in a photometric analysis. Setting: Academic university hospital and specialized craniofacial cleft center. Patients: At the time of the secondary rhinoplasty, 61 cleft patients were included, all 17 years or older. Interventions: Rotational advancement with usage of BMGs was performed in selected cases by a single surgeon. Main Outcome Measures: Nasal symmetry and aesthetic appearance. Results: From 2003 to 2011, 29 unilateral severe cleft cases (group I) underwent a modified alar rotational advancement with BMGs. Group II, with 32 cases, represented patients without BMGs. Technique and management of BMGs were described in detail. The complication rate of donor and recipient site presented as very low. The CA was improved significantly in both groups. Also, TPR improved (not significantly) in group I. Using our technique, we considerably enhanced the aesthetic results and symmetry in secondary cleft rhinoplast. Conclusions: Rotating the vestibular skin makes it possible to eliminate the traction of this skin on the repositioned alar cartilage, therefore achieving a more pleasing and stable nasal symmetry in secondary cleft rhinoplasty. Versatile BMGs close this gap, thus making them a powerful tool in the arsenal of the reconstructive cleft surgeon.

The article presents outlines the importance of architectural components of the park environment as indicators of the influence of socio-cultural factors on aesthetic preferences. The study involved 60 people, ranging in age from 22 to 74 years, which were divided into two age groups of 30 people: young people - 22-34 years (mean age 23.9 years); Mature people are 46-74 years old (average age 58.9 years). The study used a free associative experiment in which respondents distributed 45 photos of park landscapes from 18 world parks into three, equal in number, groups according to their own preferences and independently determined the factors that influenced the decision to refer them to the group of attractive, neutral or unattractive landscapes. Positive influence on aesthetic preferences was found on the part of historical buildings and structures on mature respondents, together with its neutral effect on young ones. At the same time, there was a neutral attitude of a group of mature respondents to the monuments of the Soviet era and a negative one on the part of the youth. Similar is the influence of abstract sculptures on the aesthetic perception of both young and mature respondents, which is negative. However, the negative impact of these elements on the aesthetic preferences of mature respondents is more significant. Summarizing the results of studies of aesthetic preferences and factors that influence their formation, it is advisable to note the importance of architectural components, as well as the importance of their ideological context. Along with the similarity of influence on aesthetic preferences of features of park environment, differences related to sociocultural influence on the formation of aesthetic experience were revealed due to the results of the analysis of the perception of architectural components.

Upland landscapes provide important ecosystem services (ES) to society. One cultural ES - nature-based recreational tourism (NBR) - is a growing industry in upland regions that provides an important revenue to areas where other industries are often in decline. NBR tourism is a service that relies partly on the aesthetic appearance of the landscape. Changes in land management, such as increasing woodland cover, changes the appearance of the landscape and may therefore have a positive or negative impact on the economic value generated by NBR tourism. We carried out a survey of NBR tourists, using photo visualisation of different woodland scenarios, in a pastoral upland landscape in a UK National Park. This was conducted to estimate the economic value of NBR tourism under different woodland scenarios and participant’s preferences. The findings presented in this paper suggest that NBR tourism generates a substantial income to the area and that the economic value would increase, under certain woodland cover scenarios. The findings also make an important observation on how there is a difference between peoples’ preference for woodland levels and the probability of return visits.
