In the article on the basis of studying the most known research projects realized in the sphere of civil society, the conclusion is made about the need of receiving reliable data of the condition of civil society in Russia according to the optimum combination of quantitative and qualitative indicators. Authors came to the conclusion that there is a need of inclusion of the Russian researchers in the most significant projects. The authors came to the conclusion about the need of inclusion of the Russian researchers in the most significant international projects with the purpose of implementation of annual monitoring of the condition of civil society in Russia, and also carrying out high-quality regional researches in the sphere of civil society.

The chapter outlines how researchers take on different roles and positionalities as they adapt to the field, moving, for instance, from that of an “outsider” laden with externalized theoretical assumptions and having few contacts with and knowledge of the research site to one approaching, to varying degrees, that of a “pseudo-insider.” Indeed, the argument here is that researchers make choices when moving from outsider to insider roles (and between them), contingently adapting their positionality in the hope to better understand the political dynamics that underlie research projects. The setting is post-civil war Lebanon and the research project revolves around an examination of the micropolitics of civil society and associational life in this re-emerging but fragmented polity.

Recently a large variety of robots are available on the global market for a reasonable price. Often it turns out that even though a robot has a high-quality hardware and architecture, an original software of the robot may have a number of drawbacks or lacks some important features, which are required for a particular application of the robot. In such cases a user may decide to implement new libraries and functionalities using a provided by a manufacturer application programming interfaces as in most cases code of a commercial robot system is not an open-source. A number of our ongoing research projects concentrate on applications of various robots in urban search and rescue operations, and in most of these projects utilize Russian crawler robot Servosila Engineer. This paper describes the development of a new ROS-based control software and graphical user interface for Servosila Engineer robot.

England has a housing crisis. We need to build many more new homes to house our growing population, but house building is controversial, particularly when it involves the loss of countryside. Addressing both sides of this critical debate, this book argues that to drive house building on the scale needed, government must strike a contract with civil society: in return for public support and acceptance of the loss of some countryside, it must guarantee high-quality, affordable developments, in the right locations. Simply imposing development, as recent governments of all political persuasions have attempted, will not work. Focusing on house building and conservation politics in England, this book demonstrates why the current model doesn't work, and why there needs to be both planning reform and a more active role for the state, including local government.

The continuous rolling and sizing processes for producing non-quenching and non-tempering 36Mn2V steel pipes used in oil well were studied by the thermomechanical simulation test in this paper. The results showed clearly that the final microstructure was influenced by deformation temperature and stain applied. When continuous rolling temperature was controlled at 1050°C and strain at about 0.5 or above, dynamic recrystallization was completed and fine austenitic grain was obtained. When sizing temperature was controlled at 850°C or below and strain at about 0.2 or above, fine acicular ferrite was obtained with properties satisfying the requirement of the high quality pipe. The results of the study provided reliable data for the controlled rolling and sizing processes for the production of the 36Mn2V steel pipes.

The article looks at the problem of the development of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University and the Europeanization of its education policy. The ways to improve the efficiency of research, through participation in international grant projects in particular, are in the focus of this paper.  The fact that the papers by the University’s scientists are published in various SCOPUS indexed journals is evidence of the high quality and impact of their research outputs. It is an important factor in improving the University’s academic performance; it has allowed Precarpathian National University to rise to the level of the leading higher education institutions of Ukraine. The University has significantly increased its participation in various joint Ukrainian–European research projects; distinguished European scientists are invited to make presentations at the international conferences and symposiums held by the University. An ambitious project of reconstructing the astronomy observatory on Pip Ivan, a peak in the Carpathians, is being carried out in cooperation with the University of Warsaw. The Precarpathian National University has successfully implemented the double degree programme; now its students can receive the degree from Precarpathian National University and a European university. There has been developed a comprehensive programme of further Europeanization of the University’s policies

Scientific projects are increasingly using volunteered geographic information (VGI) in order to collect and validate geographic data. This concept relies on the three challenges that first of all users can be found and second be convinced to collaborate and contribute and that scientists finally are able to gather high quality data for their projects. In this paper these three challenges are discussed using the experience with three different research projects: Urbangene, Signalez-nous and BioSentiers.

The target of this thesis was the investigation of the role of the Greek intellectuals, who having adopted the man ideas of the ecological (or green) theory, critisized the Greek post - war model of development. Regarding the methodology we used the approach of discourse analysis of the texts that had been selected from a wide bibliography as well as the comparative analysis approach of the ideas which rise up in this work. In addition to this the biographical method was used.As a conclusion greek intellectuals built up a public discussion of high quality, through which they presented a strong criticism on the Greek development model and they supported as an alternative the sustainable development model, for which they suggested the implementation of certain environmental policies. At last, they suceeded in influencing the opinion makers, the wider public opinion and the civil society whose pressure on the Greek state resulted in the adoption of sustainable policies
