It is known that the vertical load on the skidder including depends on the size characteristics hauling felled trees. In this case vertical load on the tractor is equal to the weight having caved in portion trees portion by the lower part of the tree cuta-way to the point of lifted from the ground surface and bending moment. For a determination of the weight the immersed por-tion is accounted distribution of mass along the length of felled trees wood density, modulus of elasticity and the friction force in felled trees the bundle. To simplify the calculation was performed at the following assumptions: a generator trunks accept how to defining body of revolution (truncated cone); wood density is uniform over the volume of that part of felled trees which is seen currently.

The purpose of this study is to grasp the behavior characteristics of a single batter pile under vertical load by performing a model test. The changes in the resistance of the pile, the bending moment, etc. by the slope of the pile and the relative density of the ground were analyzed. According to the results of the test, when the relative density of the ground was medium and high, the bearing capacity kept increasing when the angle of the pile moved from a vertical position to 20°, and then decreased gradually after 20°. The bending moment of the pile increased as the relative density of the ground and the batter angle of the pile increased. The position of the maximum bending moment came closer to the ground surface as the batter angle of the pile further increased, and it occurred at a point of 5.2~6.7 times the diameter of the pile from the ground surface.

AbstractThe purpose of this study was to determine the influence of different substrates (C45 steel, polycarbonate, glass) on the topography as well as tribological and mechanical properties (nanohardness, modulus of elasticity and friction force) of aluminum, gold and silver thin films. The 3D image analysis showed a strong influence of the substrate material on the topography of the studied thin films with no certain variation rule. Using the Oliver and Pharr method for determining nanohardness it was observed that, the smallest values were obtained for the thin films deposited on plastic substrate, followed by glass and C45 steel, regardless of the deposited material. The determination of the modulus of elasticity was done using the Hertzian method. The obtained results showed that the highest values of this parameter were obtained for the films deposited on plastic substrate, while the lowest values depended on both the deposited material and substrate. Friction force analysis for aluminum and gold showed a significant impact of the substrate material, with more constant values for gold. As a consequence, one must pay a particular attention when choosing the material for the substrate on which the thin films are deposited.

This paper discusses a choice of the most rational reinforcement details for frame corners subjected to opening bending moment. Frame corners formed from elements of both the same and different cross section heights are considered. The case of corners formed of elements of different cross section is not considered in Eurocode 2 and is very rarely described in handbooks. Several reinforcement details with both the same and different cross section heights are presented. The authors introduce a new reinforcement detail for the different cross section heights. The considered details are comprised of the primary reinforcement in the form of straight bars and loops and the additional reinforcement in the form of diagonal bars or stirrups or a combination of both diagonal stirrups and bars. Two methods of static analysis, strut-and-tie method (S&T) and finite element method (FEM), are used in the research. FEM calculations are performed with Abaqus software using the Concrete Damaged Plasticity model (CDP) for concrete and the classical metal plasticity model for reinforcing steel. The crucial CDP parameters, relaxation time and dilatation angle, were calibrated in numerical tests in Abaqus. The analysis of results from the S&T and FE methods allowed for the determination of the most rational reinforcement details.

The study deals with determination of the vertical load on the carrying structure of a flat wagon on the 18–100 and Y25 bogies using mathematic modelling. The study was made for an empty wagon passing over a joint irregularity. The authors calculated the carrying structure of a flat wagon with the designed parameters and the actual features recorded during field tests. The mathematical model was solved in MathCad software. The study found that application of the Y25 bogie for a flat wagon with the designed parameters can decrease the dynamic load by 41.1% in comparison to that with the 18–100 bogie. Therefore, application of the Y25 bogie under a flat wagon with the actual parameters allows decreasing the dynamic loading by 41.4% in comparison to that with the 18–100 bogie. The study also looks at the service life of the supporting structure of a flat wagon with the Y25 bogie, which can be more than twice as long as the 18–100 bogie. The research can be of interest for specialists concerned with improvements in the dynamic characteristics and the fatigue strength of freight cars, safe rail operation, freight security, and the results of the research can be used for development of innovative wagon structures.

The paper aims the determination of the friction force by means of external friction stress, at the severe plastic deformation processing using cyclic closed-die forging method. It is known that the total force used at the severe plastic deformation by the method of multiaxial forging is being composed by the deformation force itself and the friction force between the semi-product and the deformation tools. Once the friction stresses known, for a certain material, one can determine the friction force corresponding for a given deformation of a semi-product of a particular shape and sizes. By means of the flowing curve of the semi-product material one can determine the deformation force, which together with the friction force give the total necessary force for a deformation and so one can choose the necessary equipment for the processing of the material by severe plastic deformation. For this purpose it has been severely plastic deformed by the method of multiaxial forging, a semi-product having the sizes 10x10x20 mm, the finished part having the same sizes and shape. It has been measured the deformation force and the extraction force of the finished part from the cavity of the active plate, the late being used for the determination of the friction stress between the semi-product and the active plate.
