<p><strong>Purpose:</strong> IATF 16949:2016 standard requirements do not represent a totally new approach of quality improvement within the automotive industry. The change of the last, from 2009 year ISO/TS), the quality management standard is only an expected consequence of changes, which, in managerial systems, was brought by ISO Organization in 2012 (Annex SL). Implementation of the Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) requires several important steps. The article describes framework of TPM implementation on a basis of PDCA (P-plan; D-do; C-check; A-Act) cycle and evaluates influence of Occupational health and safety pillar (OHS) on the “stability” of TPM house.</p><p><strong>Methodology/Approach:</strong> Individual steps of TPM implementation are analysed and added with suitable tools for making the effective integration of TPM and IATF (which is expansion of ISO 9001:2015).</p><p><strong>Findings: </strong>Implementation of autonomous maintenance and other TPM pillars requires support from management. Although the 5S tool is understood as a basic TPM tool, knowledge from its implementation suggest the fact that 5S is also a significant tool of management integration within organisation.</p><p><strong>Research Limitation/Implication:</strong> Research presented in this article is influenced of the maturity of organisation as well as its size and types of its activities.</p><strong>Originality/Value of paper:</strong> Method of TPM implementation analysis in the conditions of integrated approach with an emphasis on 5S and its relation to OHS management is original approach.

The strategy of anchoring molecular catalysts on electrode surfaces combines the high selectivity and activity of molecular systems with the practicality of heterogeneous systems. The stability of molecular catalysts is, however, far less than that of traditional heterogeneous electrocatalysts, and therefore a method to easily replace anchored molecular catalysts that have degraded could make such electrosynthetic systems more attractive. Here, we apply a non-covalent “click” chemistry approach to reversibly bind molecular electrocatalysts to electrode surfaces via host-guest complexation with surface-anchored cyclodextrins. The host-guest interaction is remarkably strong and allows the flow of electrons between the electrode and the guest catalyst. Electrosynthesis in both organic and aqueous media was demonstrated on metal oxide electrodes, with stability on the order of hours. The catalytic surfaces can be recycled by controlled release of the guest from the host cavities and readsorption of fresh guest. This strategy represents a new approach to practical molecular-based catalytic systems.

This research deals with the challenge of reducing banks’ credit risks associated with the insolvency of borrowing individuals. To solve this challenge, we propose a new approach, methodology and models for assessing individual creditworthiness, with additional data about borrowers’ digital footprints to implement comprehensive analysis and prediction of a borrower’s credit profile. We suggest a model for borrowers’ clustering based on the method of hierarchical clustering and the k-means method, which groups actual borrowers having similar creditworthiness and similar credit risks into homogeneous clusters. We also design the model for borrowers’ classification based on the stochastic gradient boosting (SGB) method, which reliably determines the cluster number and therefore the risk level for a new borrower. The developed models are the basis for decision making regarding the decision about lending value, interest rates and lending terms for each risk-homogeneous borrower’s group. The modified version of the methodology for assessing individual creditworthiness is presented, which is to reduce the credit risks and to increase the stability and profitability of financial organizations.

A new approach to the stability analysis of thawing slopes at shallow depths, taking into consideration their structure (this being a mixture of hard crumbs of soil and a fluid matrix), is presented. The new approach explains shallow mass movements such as skin flows and tongues of bimodal flows, which usually take place on very low slope inclinations independently of excess pore water pressures or increased water content in the active layer, which are necessary conditions in the methods available to date to explain these movements.

The use of conventional machining processes has been subject to important decline probably due to the increment in the use of emerging technologies. Therefore, the main applications of these traditional processes, such as automotive industry, are in crisis. In order to have a chance to compete successfully in the new trends, the machining industry must meet the needs of alternative sectors such as biomedical field. The aim of this study is to prove the capacity of micro-milling, by machining complex micro-cavities on aluminum workpiece using a conventional milling machine. Results are obtained by evaluating accuracy and geometric features. This study finds that the feed per tooth is a significant factor in order to obtain better results. The use of coolant increases the tool wear and therefore dimensional errors. This scope is a potential opportunity to reutilize the conventional machines from a new approach.

Vibroisolation systems of base desks for machine and testing facilities usually cannot effect efficient changing of their own frequencies according to operating conditions. Especially in the case of the automotive industry, the possibility of changing natural frequencies is very desirable. During varying operating conditions, the vibroisolation system needs to be regulated easily and quickly regarding the minimisation of dynamical forces transmitted to the ground and to ensure the stability of the testing process. This paper describes one of the options of tuning the base desk at a relatively short time and by sufficient change of own frequencies, which decides the dynamical behaviour of the whole system.

Abstract An integrated approach was developed for investigation of thermal spray coatings with the amorphous-crystalline structure. The new approach combines methods of metallography, differential thermal and X-ray phase analysis, scanning electron microscopy and X-ray microanalysis. This makes it possible to reveal structural, phase and chemical heterogeneity, determine the degree of amorphization of coatings, temperature and heat of crystallization of the amorphous phase during heating. The new integrated approach was used to study amorphous-crystalline coatings of the Ni-P, Fe-Ni-B and Fe-B systems produced by thermal spraying.

Purpose ISO 9001 is applied by hundreds of thousands of companies throughout the world. For this reason, its effect on company results has been extensively studied. However, the results of those studies are inconclusive and sometimes contradictory. More in-depth research, with a new approach, is therefore necessary. The purpose of this paper is to analyse whether ISO 9001-certified companies suffered the effects of the financial and economic crisis of 2007–2008 to a lesser degree than non-certified ones. Design/methodology/approach A set of 179 companies certified by ISO 9001:2008 and 154 non-certified ones were analysed, as well as the accounting figures for net sales and operating income (EBIT: earnings before interest and taxes) from 2004 to 2012. Findings Companies from the industry and services sectors showed different results. Certified industrial companies achieved better outcomes than their non-certified counterparts. However, the deviations in outcomes were not significant for services companies. Research limitations/implications One limitation of this study is that companies’ official results are not always their true results. Another limitation is that having to do with the criteria followed to suppress extreme cases, which is always subjective. Furthermore, the implications of the results could be of use for those managers who are responsible for implementing ISO 9001 and for deciding whether obtaining the ISO 9001 certification would be beneficial to their companies. Originality/value This study constitutes a new approach for the assessment of the benefits of the ISO 9001 certification.
