The solubility of chlorophenols as affected by surfactant was investigated. Three kinds of surfactant, sodium dodecyl sulfate, Triton X-100, and Brij 35, were utilized. The solubilization of chlorophenols by surfactant follows the order of 2,4,6-trichlorophenol > 2,4-dichlorophenol > 2,6-dichlorophenol > 2-chlorophenol; and the critical micelle concentration is an important index. The adsorption reactions of 2,4-dichlorophenol and 2,4,6- trichlorophenol onto hydrous montmorillonite in the presence of surfactant were examined. The presence of surfactant decreased the adsorption of chlorophenols significantly. The roles of hydrophobicity of chlorophenols in solubilization and adsorption behaviors are discussed.

The average geodesic distance is an important index in the study of complex networks. In this paper, we investigate the weighted average distance of Pentadendrite fractal and Pentadendrite networks. To provide the formula, we use the integral of geodesic distance in terms of self-similar measure with respect to the weighted vector.

Digging performances of excavator is a key important index for evaluation of excavator. It is a very complex and heavy work to compute digging performance of excavator. So a compact hydraulic excavator model was built by ADAMS software. The theoretical maximum tool force of excavator was analyzed. For bucket digging mode, the maximum tool force were analyzed for boom cylinder seven positions during the whole working range and the effect of different factors were discussed. The practical maximum tool force was gained. The actual tool force variations were found through the analysis of simulation results. It provides the basis for design and improvement of excavator.

One of the main purposes of glacier mapping is to determine the temporary state of glaciers and to investigate glacier variations by successive mappings. The author illustrates this work with particular reference to terrestrial photogrammetric surveys of mountain glaciers in the Nanga Parbat region of the Himalaya and of the Tunsbergdalsbre in southwest Norway, in both cases 24 years after R. Finsterwalder's original surveys. The author shows that the most important index of variation is the height variation of the surface level in the region of the firn line. The accuracy necessary for measuring the height variation and the scale of map plotting are discussed. Field methods are also discussed, and information is given on the measurement of volumetric changes from contourline shifts and on the measurement of velocity profiles by terrestrial photogrammetry.

Based on DPBs (Denitrifying Phosphorus-removing Bacteria) obtained from a lab-scale SBR, a quinone profile system had been established to analyze quinones in sludge samples. There existed a positive correlation between the contents of UQ-8 extracted from the sludge samples and the denitrifying and phosphorus removal efficiency of the treating system. With quinone profiles taken as a new important index, it was evidently feasible to determine the removal effect.

Blood parameters are an important index to assess the body homeostasis in mammals. Here, the effect of pesticide (imidacloprid) contaminated feed exposure on the haematological parameters of adult rabbits (n=15) was studied. Pesticides (Imidacloprid, Bildor® 0.5ml (100mg)/L water spray on vegetables and green grass) exposed feed fed to rabbits with wash (washed feed rabbit) or without a wash (not washed feed rabbit) in the once-daily morning for every alternative day up to 15 days. Control rabbits have received a standard diet (fresh vegetables and green grass). The blood cell analysis showed that the total erythrocyte count, packed cell volume, and haemoglobin values were not changed significantly in pesticide exposed rabbit. For differential leukocyte count, the percentage of neutrophil and eosinophil was significantly decreased in the pesticide-exposed rabbit as compared to the control rabbit. The lymphocyte percentage was increased significantly in pesticide-exposed rabbits compared to control rabbits. Interestingly, the number of lymphocytes was significantly increased in not washed feed rabbits compared to wash feed rabbits. The results of the present study suggest that residue of agriculturally used pesticides may affect the body homeostasis of animals. Res. Agric., Livest. Fish.7(3): 439-444,  December 2020

Robustness is an important index to assess the performance of product warranty network, and it’s helpful for managing the relationship between the manufacturers and the suppliers to analyze it. The paper establishes product warranty network’s evolutionary model according to its characteristics, and chooses the average shortest path as the measures of robustness to analyze the robustness of model of product warranty network under the random attack and the selective attack. The conclusions show that the product warranty network have strong tolerance against random failures yet are fragile under selective attacks.

Three-dimensional (3D) bioplotting has been widely used to print hydrogel scaffolds for tissue engineering applications. One issue involved in 3D bioplotting is to achieve the scaffold structure with the desired mechanical properties. To overcome this issue, various numerical methods have been developed to predict the mechanical properties of scaffolds, but limited by the imperfect representation of one key feature of scaffolds fabricated by 3D bioplotting, i.e., the penetration or fusion of strands in one layer into the previous layer. This paper presents our study on the development of a novel numerical model to predict the elastic modulus (one important index of mechanical properties) of 3D bioplotted scaffolds considering the aforementioned strand penetration. For this, the finite element method was used for the model development, while medium-viscosity alginate was selected for scaffold fabrication by the 3D bioplotting technique. The elastic modulus of the bioplotted scaffolds was characterized using mechanical testing and results were compared with those predicted from the developed model, demonstrating a strong congruity between them. Once validated, the developed model was also used to investigate the effect of other geometrical features on the mechanical behavior of bioplotted scaffolds. Our results show that the penetration, pore size, and number of printed layers have significant effects on the elastic modulus of bioplotted scaffolds; and also suggest that the developed model can be used as a powerful tool to modulate the mechanical behavior of bioplotted scaffolds.

Frequency is an important index of power quality, primary frequency regulation is of great significance for maintaining the grid frequency. In recent years, with the expansion of the power grid capacity and the continuous increase of the generator capacity, the large capacity units play a role is becoming more and more important in the primary frequency regulation of power grid. This paper takes ultra supercritical coal-fired units (1000MW) of a power plant of Hubei for example, primary frequency regulation control method, requency offset load curve and so on were studied through relevant test.

“Tectonic Microphonics” explores the politics of seismologists’ use of the microphone to listen to the deep, elusive sounds of the Earth in the years around 1900. It argues that seismological representatives of three emerging nation-states and empires—Italy, Japan, and Britain—used the microphone to lay claim to elusive geophysical data, encrypted in fleeting, earthly sounds. It suggests that seismologists’ enhanced knowledge of the subterranean movements of the Earth, a purported consequence of their microphonic aurality, represented a form of geopolitical currency. Such powers of prediction were viewed as an important index of national security and scientific development: the microphone thus represented an opportunity for occupants of seismic geographies (like Italy and Japan) to overcome what Deborah Coen has referred to as the “deterministic geography of security and risk” that, for some geologists, reduced them to the status of “barbarians.” At the same time, this article demonstrates that valorizing the civilizing consequences of this form of technologically mediated aurality relied upon extractive ecologies of capitalism and exploitative human labor that were often obscured by scientific users and their global networks of collaborators and enablers. As the article's concluding section shows, these activities came on the heels of the birth of one of the earliest ideas of the Anthropocene, circulated in the writings of an Italian geologist as a term for the agency of white, European, “steam-powered” men (a circumscribed Anthropos) over the Earth, its fossil resources, and its less-than-human laborers. This article concludes by arguing that the microphone established a standard of anthropogenic aurality fit for the birth of the age of the Anthropocene.
