This paper examines the influence of Research and Development (R&D) strategy on firm performance controlling for external environment. In this turbulent era, several firms build their competitive advantage on their innovation competence investing on R&D. Drawing upon a sample of 248 firms located in Greece, a structured questionnaire was developed to measure R&D strategy, external environment (dynamism, complexity, munificence, technological) and firm performance (financial, market, innovation, growth and organizational). The importance of R&D strategy in explaining the variance of all performance dimensions is confirmed with innovation performance playing a dominant role. Results indicate that R&D strategy is the most crucial antecedent of firm performance, controlling for business environment. Among environmental dimensions, only dynamism exerts statistical significant relationships. Regarding organizational size, larger firms possess a competitive advantage in the market, enjoying dominant market shares, while smaller firms exhibit supremacy regarding their innovative behavior.

This research aimed to discover the impact of external environment and Total Quality Management implementation on company performance  in order to create competitive advantage in PT. ISM Bogasari Flourmills. This research is an associative explanatory research with quantitative method. The data sources used are primary data and secondary data. The primary data collected by spreading 122 questionnaires to employees of PT. ISM Bogasari on chief officers level, assistant manager level, and manager level. Sampling method used is Proportionable Stratified Random Sampling. The result showed that external environment with indicator of complexity, dynamics and environment carrying capacity, has positive and significant impact on company’s performance. Total Quality Management implementation with indicators of costumer focus, continuous refinement and staff training program, brings positive and significant impact on company’s performance. The company’s performance with its indicators of efficiency, effectiveness, and adaptability, has positive and significant impact on the creation of competitive advantage. The Research also proved that external environment and Total Quality Management Implementation directly affect the creation of competitive advantage.   Keywords: External environment, Total Quality Management implementation, company’s performance, and competitive advantage


Marketing excellence is the need of the hour in today‘s competitive scenario. Numerous companies are striving to compete by continuous implementation of effective marketing strategies for sustainable growth. The purpose of this research is to investigate the impact of Internal marketing strategies and analyse the relationship between Focus Strategy (FS), Differentiation Strategy (DS), Market Penetration Strategy (MPS) and Sales Service Support Strategy (SSS) for Competitive Advantage (CA) with respect to organised sector of Coimbatore based pump industry in TamilNadu.The result shows that, Focus Strategy, Differentiation Strategy and Sales Service Support Strategy are having strong and positive impact on Market Penetration Strategies. There is also a positive and strong impact of Market Penetration Strategy for Competitive Advantage. It was suggested to provide adequate training for sales and service persons to constantly improve on technical expertise and look for new design of service quality and to monitor on-time service which would place organized pump industry on sustainable growth in a competitive market.

The objectives of this paper is to investigate factors that affecting SMEs performance. Particularly, our study examined the effect of entrepreneurial orientation, adaptability to external environment, and competitive advantage to SMEs performance. We also test the effect of entrepreneurial orientation and adaptability to external environment on SMEs competitive advantage. Results of structural equation modeling on 100 SMEs in Semarang, Central Java, Indonesia, suggested that entrepreneurial orientation and competitive advantage has a positive effect on SMEs business performance. However, our prediction that adaptability to external environment positively affect SMEs performance was not supported. Furthermore, our study also found that entrepreneurial orientation and adaptability to external environment positively affect SMEs competitive advantage.

The present chapter deals with an important topic, namely communication with its internal public and its customers by improving internal processes like recruitment, selection, motivation and development of an industrial company along supply chain management. We analyse this relationship taking into account that having talented employees the company will be able to attract new customers, maintain the old ones and satisfy their needs, that organizations must face the continual changes from the external environment, and that factors like globalization, liberalization, new technologies, and market opening have a major impact on organizational performance, on the human factor and on customers. As astrategic performance-generating factor in obtaining competitive advantage along supply chain, human factor is analysed describing issues like: communication, recruiting, attracting, retaining, motivating, developing employees under the impact of new technologies in order to obtain performance along supply chain.

Main objective of this article is investigating the role of Porter's competitive strategies (differentiation, cost reduction and focus) to increase the competitiveness and eventually gain competitive advantage. This study is a cross-sectional survey that is conducted in 2017. The study population is 221 CEOs (senior managers) in 99 Branches of 4 private banks in IRANs provinces Tehran (Capital of Iran), Qazvin and Isfahan as 3 of the most monetary turnovers. The research tools are a questionnaire containing demographic and specific information. To analyze the data, an SPSS statistical software is used and several statistical tests are used in the testing of the hypothesis and research goals. Finally, the impact of each dimension of the strategy to increase competitiveness is assessed. Also, each dimension is ranked according to influence; respectively differentiation strategy, focus strategy and cost reduction strategies. Considering banks multiplicity and results, special invest on differentiation strategy reaching competitiveness advantages to escape Red-Ocean in this industry is necessary. <p>            Creative industries significantly contribute to Indonesia economic development. There are many problems faced especially in improving innovation capabilities and competitive advantages. This study proposes to examine the effect of collaborative networks and entrepreneurial orientation to innovation capabilities, competitivee advantage and performance. Some creative industries located at several cities in the Central Java Province. Sampling methods used in this study is purposive sampling and data is analyzed by the multiple linier regressions. The result of this study shows that entrepreneurial orientation significantly affects both the innovation capability and performance. Collaborative networks significantly affects both the innovation capability and competitive advantage. Furthermore, the result shows that entrepreneurial orientation, innovation capability and competitive advantage significantly affect the performance. Nevertheless, it shows that collaborative networks do not significantly affect the performance.</p>

The purpose of this study is to examine and analyze the influence of: (1) internal environment, external environment, business ethics, entrepreneurial orientation on differentiation strategies; (2) internal environment, external environment, business ethics, entrepreneurial orientation, differentiation strategies on competitive advantage; (3) internal environment, external environment, business ethics, entrepreneurial orientation, differentiation strategies, competitive advantage on business performance. This research is an explanatory type of research with a quantitative approach. The populations in this study were all Small Industries in Surabaya as many as 384 Small Industries in Surabaya, while the samples used were 349 Small Industries in Surabaya. Data collection is done by questionnaire. The data analysis technique used is the Structural Equation Model (SEM) with AMOS program. Based on the results of the analysis shows that: (1) internal environment, external environment,  business ethics, entrepreneurial orientation significantly influences on differentiation strategy; (2) business ethics, entrepreneurial orientation, differentiation strategy has a significant influences on competitive advantage, while internal environment and external environment does not have a significant influences on competitive advantage; (3) internal environment, entrepreneurial orientation, differentiation strategies, competitive advantage has a significant influences on the performance of small industries, while external environment and business ethics has no significant influences on the performance of small industries.

This research deals with the impact of Local Tax and Retribution Receipt to Local Government Original Receipt of Regency/City in Central Java from 2008 to 2012. This research utilizes the data of actual of local government budget from Directorate General of Fiscal Balance (Direktorat Jendral Perimbangan Keuangan). Methods of collecting data through census. The number of Regency/City in Central Java are 35. But the data consists of 33 of Regency/City In Central Java from 2008 to 2012. Total of samples are 165. Karanganyar Regency and Sukoharjo Regency were not included as samples of this research because they didn’t report the data of actual of local government budget to Directorate General of Fiscal Balance in 2009.The model used in this research is multiple regressions. The independent variables are Local Tax and Retribution Receipt, the dependent variable is Local Government Original Receipt. The research findings show that Local Tax and Retribution give the significant impact partially and simultaneusly on Local Government Original Receipt at real level 5 percent. All independent variables explain 91,90 percent of the revenue variability while the rest 8,10 percent is explained by other variables.Keywords: Local Tax, Retribution, and Local Government Original Receipt
