The study on chemical properties in the conservation areas of Gilimanuk Bay, west coast of Bali was carried out in March 2006. The dissolved oxygen and degree of acidity (pH) in surface water were analyzed. The nutrients, consisting of phosphate, nitrate and ammonia concentrations in water were analyzed as well. In general all the chemical parameters were normal for coastal waters. Dissolved oxygen in this area was lower than those in Jakarta Bay and Panimbang waters, while the nutrient concentrations were lower compared to those of Cisadane Estuary, but higher compared to those of Mamberamo Waters. The fluctuations of pH, dissolved oxygen and other nutrients were influenced by the condition of surrounding area.

The study on the fluctuation of dissolved nutrient concentrations and acidity (pH) in the Cisadane Estuary was carried out in May 2004 October 2004 and July 2005. Inorganic phosphate, nitrate and silicate of the surface water were analyzed, using Spectrophotometer and pH was measured with a pH meter. Generally the nutrient concentrations in the estuary were higher compared to those in the coastal and offshore areas. The concentrations were gradually becoming lower and lower toward the open sea. Their fluctuation depended not only on the environmental condition but also on the water volurrie from the land and the mangrove forest in that area.

Ramshagar dighi is a larger historical man made reservoir (Dighi, Bengali meaning) situated at Tajpur village in Dinajpur, Bangladesh. This study was aimed to estimate current status of physico-chemical variables of water of Ramshagar dighi at Dinajpur District, Bangladesh. Monthly average changes in physico-chemical parameters such as water temperature, total dissolved oxygen, air temperature, humidity, rainfall, water depth and pH of water were analyzed for the period of 11 months from May 2011 to March 2012. The average air temperature (°C) at the study area of Ramshagar dighi at Dinajpur District was determined as 24.97 ± 4.92. Our present study showed that physico-chemical properties of water in Ramshagar dighi were monthly average of water temperature (°C) as 24.68 ± 4.77, air temperature (°C) 24.97 ± 4.92, humidity as 82.075 ± 4.14, rainfall as 1534.5 mm, water depth as 9.10 m ± 1.286, pH as7.67± 0.48 and carbon dioxide as 0.85 ± 0.92 as well as dissolved oxygen as 4.65 ± 0.62 respectively during the period of May 2011 to March 2012. This paper presents a monitoring of groundwater and surface water in the mining area Tg. Ocna, by analyzing 16 physico-chemical parameters (pH, turbidity, dissolved oxygen, Pb, Ni, Cu, Fe, Mn, Zn, Cr, Mg, SO42-, Al, NO2-, NO3-, NH4+), from three rivers Slanic, Trotus and Valcele, a small lake Groapa Burlacu, a fountain and three monitoring drilling wells (F11, F16 and F17). Studies on the quality of surface water and groundwater in areas near mines are important due to extraction and exploitation of salt. The samples were collected in April 2019. Following the analyzes, their results are included in the following concentration ranges: pH 7.21 to 8.46 unit. pH, turbidity 0.54 to 169 NTU, dissolved oxygen 6 to 8.59 mg/L, Pb 0.075 to 0.095 mg/L, Ni 0.026 to 1.05 mg/L, Cu 0.088 to 0.809 mg/L, NO2- 0.001 to 0.037 mg/L and NO3- 0.290 to 4.34 mg/L. The pH, turbidity and dissolved oxygen were measured in situ using portable equipment�s. As for the other parameters, they were analyzed in the water laboratory from Vasile Alecsandri University of Bacau by using spectrophotometry. Some concentrations of the physico-chemical indicators of the water samples analyzed were found to be more than the water quality classes.

Constant assessment of physical and chemical parameters in freshwater ecosystems is largely recommended. This is even more important when water resources, e.g. lakes in most countries, serve as a source of water for domestic and commercial purposes, and /or when freshwater ecosystems represent a refuge for most aquatic organisms. In this paper, we investigated the physical and chemical properties of water resources at three sampling stations of Lake Oguta, comparing the weekly values (June-July 2018) with the water quality standard established by the Nigerian Federal Ministry of Water Resources (FMWR). The parameters analysed included water temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen (DO), chemical and biological oxygen demand (COD, BOD), potassium, magnesium, sodium, calcium, phosphate, nitrate, chloride and sulphate. Most of the cations (calcium, magnesium and sodium), anions (phosphate, nitrate, chloride and sulphate), as well as water temperature, BOD and DO were below the quality standard limits. The basic chemistry and temporal variations may have been caused mostly by natural factors such as geology, topography, meteorology, hydrology, water levels and biological activity. Being in line with the recommended standard levels, the nutrient concentrations, pH and hardness in the current study may indicate favourable conditions for the life of aquatic organisms and contemporary co-existence with the human exploitation for drinking purposes. Nevertheless, to assure a safely and conscious exploitation of this water resource, we recommend continuity in the monitoring studies. To assure an accurate evaluation of the physical and chemical parameters, future studies should include a larger sample size and extended study periods (including other seasons).

The Yardantsi Reservoir, Gusau Nigeria serves multitude of purposes for the Gusau populace. It is the main source of water for domestic purpose, irrigation, and fishing. The reservoir receives both organic and inorganic waste through runoffs and seepage from the catchment areas. The physico- chemical parameters of the surface water were investigated monthly from May, 2015 to April, 2017. Samples were collected from five sampling stations and analyzed using standard procedures for examination of water and waste water. The data obtained was subjected to multivariate analysis using Microsoft office excels and SPSS. The results showed the following mean seasonal variation of surface water temperature (26.62±0.34– 30.12±0.17ᴼC),transparency (48.82±1.08- 22.07±0.87cm), mean depth (2.12±0.05-2.65±0.04m), pH (7.61±0.15-7.96±0.13), electrical conductivity (186.32±3.84- 108.05±5.43µS/cm), total dissolved solids (96.00±1.95- 63.70±3.68mg/L), dissolved oxygen (7.80±0.11-6.91±0.10mg/L), biochemical oxygen demand (2.71±0.09-2.48±0.05mg/L), alkalinity (40.57±0.69–27.87±0.51mg/L), hardness (59.20±1.01– 32.18±0.94mg/L), NO3-N (2.28±0.08-4.44±0.07mg/L), PO4-P (123.72±1.44-173.48 ± 2.78 mg/L), sulphate (31.62±1.45-71.80±1.82mg/L)  and chloride (74.08±1.67- 37.64±0.96mg/L) for dry and rainy seasons respectively. The results revealed that a highly significant seasonal variation (p<0.01) was exhibited in all parameters with the exception of pH which shows no significant seasonal variation (p>0.05) and biochemical oxygen demand, which shows a significant seasonal variation (p<0.05). The results of this survey showed that the parameters observed indicated that most of them fall within the recommended range set by World Health Organization (WHO) and Nigerian Standard for Drinking Water Quality (NSDWQ).Keywords: Dissolved oxygen, electrical conductivity, pH, reservoir, temperature

As a semi-closed bay with narrow bay mouths, the distribution of nutrients in Zhanjiang Bay was different from bays with open bay mouths and rivers with large flows. It is important to study the water quality of Zhanjiang Bay to determine the impact of human activities on this semi-closed bay. Based on field survey data in spring, the spatial distribution of nutrients and other physico-chemical parameters was investigated, in order to study the geochemical characteristics of nutrients in semi-closed bays. Higher nutrient concentrations were observed in the inner and outer bays, but lower concentrations were observed at the bay mouth. With other analyses of physico-chemical parameters, the higher nutrient concentrations in the inner bay originated mainly from the diluted freshwater input from local developments and rivers. With the strong flow that exists along the western coast of Guangdong Province, the higher dissolved inorganic nitrogen (DIN) and SiO3–Si concentrations along the outer bay may be influenced by discharge from local cities in western Guangdong Province. There was stronger phytoplankton assimilation at the bay mouth, which resulted in reduced nutrient concentrations in this area. Although the hydrographic characteristics between the inner bay and outer bay were significantly different, the distribution of chlorophyll-a (Chla) levels was similar. However, we found significantly low dissolved oxygen (DO) and high apparent oxygen utilisation (AOU) consumption levels in the inner bay, and high DO and low AOU levels in the outer bay, which suggested that decomposition was more important than photosynthesis in the closed bay, even in spring during the phytoplankton bloom.

Present work was pertaining to studies conducted at one lentic perinial water body at Talaguppa viz., Gourikere pond Tq:Sagar Karnataka.  The period of study undertaken it one year from May - 2007 to April - 2008. This study is intended to monitor the water quality of Gourikere pond of Talaguppa, Sagar Tq: Shimoga District and also helpful for using this water for making fisheries activity. The present investigation encompassed collection of data pertaining to various aspects such as meteorological condition, physicochemical parameter of water body of Gourikere pond. Air and surface water temperatures varied from 29.7oC to 37.5oC and from 20.6oC – 24.8oC. And the pH ranged between 8.1 to 9.1. Variation in dissolved oxygen content was from 6.4 mg/l to 10.8 mg/l  and variation in CO2 was observed from 7.4 mg/l to 12.00 mg/l.  Concentrations of nutrients viz. nitrates (0.69 mg/l to1.30 mg/l), phosphates (0.30 mg/l to 0.63 mg/l) Magnesium (11.79 mg/l to 88.64 mg/l) sulphate (2.45 mg/l to 5.16 mg/l) Calcium (33.41 to 138.10mg/l), also varied independently. Abstract Seaweeds grow abundantly along the Sundarban coast and St. Martin's Island. Twenty-two kinds of seaweed have been recorded in the coastal waters of Bangladesh, most of them from St. Martin's Island. St. Martin's Island, Ukhia and Teknaf Upazilla and the sheltered coast of the Bay of Bengal and its surrounding area have potential for seaweed culture. Moreover, the physico-chemical properties in the area are also suitable for seaweed culture. Presently, fishermen, women and children on St. Martin's Island are engaged in seaweed collection, drying and selling to middlemen who smuggle it to Burma. The communities benefit little and the Government does not gain revenue from these activities. Seaweed culture could provide an alternative livelihood for poor fishermen and help to develop seaweed business, which would increase export revenue for the Government. Furthermore, the environment and biodiversity would be safeguarded, as seaweed culture is environmental friendly.

<p>Banggai Waters, Central Sulawesi is very important because the waters is very rich in marine resources and its oceanographic  conditions are affected by land and Banda Sea. This research was conducted in June-July 2011 using a research vessel Baruna Jaya VIII. The research objective was to determine water quality based on as an indicator of fertility waters and factors influencing the water quality.  The parameters studied were phosphate, nitrate, silicate, dissolved oxygen, and acidity (pH). Water samples were collected using Niskin Bottle attached with CTD form three different depths i.e., surface (0-1 m), middle (20-100 m), and near bottom layer (100-200 m) at 14 stations.  Concentrations of phosphate, nitrate, and silicate were analyzed according to the method of Strickland and Parsons. Dissolved oxygen concentrations were measured by Winkler method. The degree of acidity (pH) was measured with pH meter Cyber ​​Scan 300. The results indicated that nutrient concentrations were generally higher in eastern and southern waters. Phosphate concentrations ranged from 0,04–1.70 µg A/l; nitrate 0.28–27.23 µg A/l, and silicate 1.96–46.56 µg A/l. Dissolved oxygen concentrations ranged from 2.14–4.15 ml/l, and pH values ​​from 7.95–8.26. In reference to the quality standards set by the Ministry of Environment (KMNLH), the Banggai Waters, Central Sulawesi is still in good conditions for the life of various biota..</p> <p>Keywords: water quality, fertility waters, nutrients, Banggai Waters</p>
