The Research work was carried out to investigate the proximate analysis of assessing youth participating in agriculture: Ughelli South Local Government Area, Delta State. Thus, ten (10) communities were selected using descriptive non probability research design. A sample of 200 respondents was selected from the ten (10) Local Government Areas of Delta state gotten from six (6) Kingdoms that made up Ughelli South. The information from the respondents were analysed and interpreted using tabular method percentage of R/N=100/1 in part A of personal information of the respondent while part B was analysed using mean (X) with a cut off mean point of 3.00 items in each research question were accepted when it is 3.00 and above mean point and rejected when it is below cut off mean point of 3.00. The major finding is that 70% of farmers in Ughelli South were of the age group into subsistence farming.

This study assessed youth participation in cashew nut marketing in Ankpa Local Government Area of Kogi State, Nigeria. It specifically described the socioeconomic characteristics of the youths, examined the profitability of youth involvement in cashew nut marketing, assessed the efficiency and performance of youth in cashew nut marketing, and determined the level of market integration in cashew nut marketing. A three staged random sampling method was used to select 120 youth involved in cashew nut marketing for the study. Relevant primary data obtained through structured questionnaire were analysed using descriptive statistics, gross margin model, marketing efficiency, and Pearson price correlation. Findings of the study showed a mean age and marketing experience of 37 years and 10 years respectively. Gross margin obtained was N 445, 563.90 per annum, N14, 811.11 per bag and N185.11per kg with a high efficiency level of 654%. The level of integration (0.415) between Awo and Enjema markets was significant 5%. Youth are encouraged to consider cashew nut marketing as an option to reduce unemployment and improve their welfare.

This research work investigated the attitude of Secondary School Teachers in the Ijero Local Government Area of Ekiti State, Nigeria towards Physical fitness for sports. The research design used for the study was the descriptive type of research. A simple random sampling technique was used to select two hundred (200) secondary school teachers selected from all the secondary schools in Secondary Schools in Ijero Local Government Area of Ekiti State, Nigeria. The instrument for data collection for the study was a self-structured questionnaire. The instrument was subjected to a validity and reliability mechanism and it was found to be appropriate for the study. Four (4) research questions were raised and tested at 0.05 level of significance. The data collected were analysed using Chi-Square (X2) statistical analysis package. The findings of the study revealed that the disposition of secondary school teachers’ influences their attitude towards physical fitness programme and sports activities, the interest of secondary school teachers’ influences their attitude towards physical fitness programme and sports activities, availability of sports facilities influence the attitude of secondary school teachers’ toward physical fitness programme and sports activities and, secondary school teachers’ perception of health benefits of physical fitness influences their attitude towards physical fitness participation and sports activities in secondary schools in Ijero Local Government Area of Ekiti State, Nigeria. Based on the findings, appropriate conclusions and recommendations were made.

Ameobiasis is an infection caused by Entamoeba histolytica, which is a serious problem especially in developing countries and ranks third among the parasitic infections that lead to death mostly in primary age children.The aim of the present study was to investigate the prevalence of E. histolytical in young children.Three hundred (300) children aged 0-14 years were sampled for E. histolytica infection in five rural communities in Wushishi Local Government Area, Niger State, North Central Nigeria.   The stool samples were examined for cysts of E. histolytica using saline and iodine preparations. The prevalence rate of 17 % was recorded. The prevalence by sex had a higher infection rate in males (19.3 %) than females (14.6%) which was not significantly (P>0.05). The prevalence of the infection in relation to age was highest (23%) in 7 to 10 year age group, while the least infection of 12 (12%) was recorded in 11 to 14 year age group A significant association was found between the sources of drinking water and prevalence of E. histolytica (P<0.05).  The highest was recorded in those using stream/pond (89.2%) and least recorded from Borehole/Tap (40.3%). Therefore, it become necessary need for improved sanitation, personal hygiene, health education  policy and a proper deworming scheme amongst school children in the study areas in order to decrease infections rate.

This research work examined the various communication media used in the rural areas for the purpose of conveying messages to Adolescents in the selected communities in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, Nigeria - Woji, Rumuigbo, Rumuola, Rumuokwuta and Elelenwo communities. The Taro Yammane Statistical formula for determination of sample size was used in drawing a sample of 363 respondents from a population of 3,630 Adolescents. The simple random sampling method was used in the distribution of the questionnaire to target respondents in the selected communities. Two hundred and eighty two (282) copies of the questionnaire were returned valid, and data from them was analysed and interpreted with the use of frequency tables and percentages. The result shows that traditional communication media is still relevant in the dissemination of information to rural dwellers in general and to Adolescents in particular. The agencies that make use of these media are; village authority, age groups, etc. The research work recommend among others that the government and rural dwellers should hold our traditional and cultural values in high esteem through the use of these media, harmonizing the use of traditional communication media and modern media for effective rural information service delivery.

The present study investigates household consumption pattern of snail meat in Oluyole Local Government Area of Oyo State. A multistage random  sampling technique was used to administer the questionnaires to a total of 120 respondents. Data collected were analyzed using both descriptive  statistics and inferential statistics. The socioeconomic factors analyzed showed that age group between 31 and 40 (45.0%) consumed snail more  while age group between 51 and 60 (11.70%) consumed less snails. The majority of respondents were Married (60.8%) and possess secondary education (54.2%). Most of the respondents (95.8%) consume snail meat but most of them consume snail meat on a seasonal basis unlike beef and fish. Furthermore, fried form of snail meat is mostly (65%) preferred when compared to cooked form (24.2%). The regression analysis shows that the consumption of snail meat depended on the price, household size, educational level, household income, nutritive value, occupation and its availability. Problems associated with snail meat consumption in the study area include Price, income level, unavailability and cultural belief. Based on the findings, this study recommends that extension workers should engage the public on the need to get involved in the rearing of snails to make it readily available all year round and thus make it more affordable for all sundry. This research work was designed to examine the impact of Anchor Borrower Programme (ABP) on poverty alleviation in Argungu Local Government Area of Kebbi State. The main objective of the study is to investigate the extent to which the implementation of Anchor Borrower Programme (ABP) has encouraged poverty alleviation in the area of food supply, income generation, improvement in standard of living and income generation in the study area. Relevant data for this research work were collected from secondary sources through the content analysis of; documents, government publications, reports, quarterly magazines on Anchor Borrower Programme and data from Bureau of Statistics. At the end of the study, the research findings reveal that Anchor Borrower Programmes (ABP) supports for farmer have a positive and significant impact on poverty alleviation in the area of; food supply, employment generation, improved standard of living and income generation was substantial. However, the paper recommended that the Anchor Borrower policy in Nigeria should be encouraged and subjected to periodic review so as to provide more platforms for poverty alleviation in Argungu LGA of Kebbi State.

This study focuses on Reading to Write as a strategy for improving the writing performance of students of English language in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State. An intact class was used to investigate reading to write as a way of improving the writing performance of secondary school students. The research focused on a single class, that is, the entire population of the students in SS 2, which is made up of 56 students. This research work has adopted the transactional theory of writing and reading as the theoretical framework. Two types of questionnaires were used because of pre-test and post-test, study four essay topics were used to test the students initial competent in writing skills before we started  the training through reading to improve writing. Simple percentage was used for the pre-test and post-test study. Mean and Standard Deviation was used to analyze the student’s achievement test for both pretest and posttest while ANCOVA was used to test the hypothesis at 0.5 level of significant.From the result from pre-test and post-test, it is crystal clear that reading to write as a strategy can help to improve writing performance of the students and majority of the students has confirmed that this method should be apply in their class room in other to improve their writing skills. Recommendations are also provided.Key
