This paper discusses three types of active teaching and learning methodologies: problem-based learning, problem-posing, and case method. It is a comparison between their theoretical foundations and their practices, based on a literature review. The goal is to differentiate these types of active methodologies so that educators can plan, implement and properly evaluate their uses. The results of the literature review and the comparison show, despite several similarities, important differences between these three types of active methodologies, such as: its origins and theoretical references, the construction of problems or cases, the driving and the place where the studies take place, the elaboration of hypotheses and the application of the results, among others. As future work, it is suggested that such comparisons be extended to other types of active methodologies, such as project-based learning, which is sometimes confused with the ones here studied.

The article presents some special aspects of applying project-based learning in the practice of training abroad. What makes this study topical is the need to find new ways to solve important problems of higher technical education, and to improve the quality of training specialists in engineering areas. The article considers the main characteristics of project-based learning, presents its theoretical foundations, clarifies the goals of applying this technology in training specialists in the field of engineering and technology, analyzes the strategies for introducing this technology into the practice of a higher technical school abroad. As a result of the study, it is concluded that it is preferable to use a mixed approach, which includes implementation of project and problem-based learning, along with traditional technologies, when training specialists in the field of engineering and technology.

Increasing the metacognitive abilities of chemistry students is an indisputable output of the teaching and learning process today. Collaborative problem based learning is a learning method that has been tested and proven to be applied, especially in Western countries in increasing the metacognitive abilities of students, but it is still very minimal applied in Asian countries, including Indonesia. Thus, this study was conducted to explore previous studies that examined collaborative problem-based learning in improving students' metacognitive abilities. The research design used in this study is a Systematic Literature Review with the requirements of the inclusion of articles on collaborative problem-based learning in improving the metacognitive abilities of chemistry students, accredited national and international publications between 2010 and 2020, full text, journal articles, and open access. The results of the exploration that were carried out found 102 articles, then the title and abstract were read into 20 articles, and 4 articles were read in full, which fulfilled all the stipulated inclusion requirements. The results of the systematic literature review conducted in this study provide empirical evidence of literacy that problem based learning improves the metacognitive abilities of chemistry students. However, most of research conducted still uses various instruments, which are not standardized and validated.

This paper presents reflections on the teaching and learning of Differential and Integral Calculus notions. By relevant theoretical contributions, we propose activities to address calculation notions as limits and derivatives, taking as a guiding principle an active methodology in the case, the Problem-Based Learning (Problem Based Learning - PBL). Expected to integrate mathematical content and concepts with the university of professional practices, promoting meaningful learning. We believe that by inserting motivators, real or realistic problems, certain obstacles observed in teaching and learning calculus, can be softened as well as contribute to the construction of disciplinary knowledge.

Based Learningdan model Problem-Based Learningmenggunakan uji one sample t-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa model Project-Based Learning dan Problem-Based Learningefektif ditinjau dari minat belajar matematika tetapi tidak efektif ditinjau dari prestasi belajar dan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa kelas XI SMA. Tidak terdapat perbedaan keefektifan antara model Project-Based Learning dan Problem-Based Learningditinjau dari prestasi belajar, kemampuan pemecahan masalah, dan minat belajar matematika siswa kelas XI SMA. Kata kunci: Project-Based Learning, Problem-Based Learning, prestasi belajar, kemampuan pemecahan masalah, minat belajar matematika

The purpose of this study is to observe: 1) the final ability of MI teachers to make / compile RPP with discovery learning, problem based learning, and project based learning model according to the provision in the 2013 curriculum after being given the drill method using job sheet. 2) early ability of MI teachers to make / compile RPP with discovery learning model, problem based learning, and project based learning according to the provision in curriculum 2013 before being given practice / drill method using job sheet. Data collection during the workshop on Curriculum Implementation 2013 for 22 hours (3hari). Alternative strategy taken in this research using experimental method with Pre-Experimental Design form. While the design used One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. In this design there are pretest before being treated, and posttest after being given treatment using drill method, the study population is all the participants of workshop on the implementation of curriculum 2013 which amounted to 34 MI teachers in one class. Posttest implemented towards the end of the workshop. Based on the results of the study and discussion are described as follows: 1) the final ability of MI teachers is good with average posttest 77,082 with variance 31,780 and Corelasi 0,934> 0,05. 2) the initial ability of MI teachers is still in doubt with pretest averages of 55.440 and variance of 12,678, better ending ability than initial ability and with Asymp.Sig (2-tailed) = 0.005 <0.05 means there is a difference in ability beginning and end. In the end, it can be concluded that the practice / drill method using job sheet in the workshop can improve the ability of MI teachers to arrange RPP with discovery learning, problem based learning, and project based learning model according to the provision in the 2013 curriculum, in other words the method of drill / drill classified effective in the preparation of RPP based on the provisions according to the curriculum 2013.

Teaching model is important componen in education system. It helps education process in implementing the aim of education effectively an effeciently. So, every education must also be creative in selecting and using education model. Based on the past and todays experiences, quality of education in Indonesia showed that the quality of teaching and learning process done by teachers and students was still low. Learning paradigm still focused on a teacher only (teacher centered learning) that caused learning process unattractive and monotonous. There were some factors that made difficult to change teacher paradigm in teaching and learning activity, namely teacher’s low commitment and skill in implementing active teaching-learning process. Therefore, teachers training institution (LPTK) should prepare the students to have skills in implementing active teaching and learning. One of some efforts that could be done to improve students’ skill, as prospective teachers, in implementing an active learning was that by implementing SCL (Student Centered Learning). It covered modelling a lecturer as a model in implementing active learning in the class and it integrates active learning in small group discussion, role-play and simulation, case study, discovery learning, self-directed learning, cooperative learning, colloborative learning, contextual learning, project based learning, problem based learning and inquiry.
