White teak (Gmelina arborea Roxb) is one of the types developed for the development of plantations, this species is an exotic tree that grows quickly, the planting technique is not difficult and has a good economic value. The wood is used for various purposes, especially for the manufacture of construction materials, carpentry, plywood, matches, containers and other wood craft materials. One aspect that determines the success of plantation development is the availability of seeds, especially quality seeds that are superior genetically, physically and physiologically, available in sufficient quantities, on time and have the ability to adapt to the environment in which they grow. The development of this plant needs to be accompanied by a breeding program, one of the forest plant breeding activities is exploration. Exploration activities of a type of plant in its natural habitat are important to support research and development activities of an institution and to meet market needs for these seeds. The purpose of seed exploration is to get white Teak seeds that represent a variety of habitats to support breeding activities. Exploration of white teak seeds is carried out in Kalianda (South Lampung), Bondowoso (East Java), Bantul (Yogyakarta), Parung Panjang (West Java) and Lombok (West Nusa Tenggara). The results of the exploration obtained 108 mother trees from Kalianda 25 mother trees with seed size (18.32 mm; 10.25 mm), Bondowoso 30 mother trees (17.78 mm; 9.64 mm), Bantul 21 mother trees (19, 24 mm; 11.40 mm), Parung length 15 mother trees (19.41 mm; 9.42 mm) and Lombok 17 mother trees (18.58 mm; 10, 31 mm).

Background/Objectives: With aview topreventing the abuse and misuse of national research and development funds, which is increasing day by day, thisstudy investigated how systems can be efficiently constructed and redundant development can be minimized when systems are linked with those of variousmanaging institutions which support research and development funds from the viewpoint of research conducting institutions that have been provided with research and development funds.Methods/Statistical Analysis: This study was conducted with aK government-funded research institute, which is a research conducting institution, in coordination with three institutions; the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the National Research Foundation of Korea, and the Institute for Information & Communications Technology Promotion. These institutions manage research & development projects.Findings: Inthis study, to prevent the abuse, misuse, and unjust execution of national research and development funds, research-fundcard companies, research managing institutions, and research conducting institutions were linked with each other in real time.First, work efficiency was improved by setting a procedure through which the conducting institutions receive card use details from card companies when research fundcards have been used to execute funds in linkage with the internal executionsystems of the conducting institutions. The data on the execution of funds are transmitted to the managing institutions in real time to enable monitoring in real time.In the past, a conducting institution had to construct a linked system and revise the internal management and execution systems every time a research project from a new managing institution was implemented. Therefore, in this study, when systems were linked, the systems were not directly linked to the DB table, but transmitted/received data by managing institution were analyzed to construct an integrated view and the integrated view was linked with conducting institutions’ internal systems to minimize redundantsystem development.Improvements/Applications: Unjust execution of research and development funds could be prevented in advance, and the transparency of research fund execution could be improved through system linked inreal time. In addition, the expandability of internal systems was improved through the system links and redundant system development when new projects are implemented could be minimized.

Herawati VE, Hartoko A, Suminto. 2012. The suitability of Segara Anakan waters, Cilacap, Central Java as cultivation area of Polymesoda erosa based on primary productivity using satellite image. Bonorowo Wetlands 2: 41-51. Segara Anakan waters, Cilacap, Central Java is a natural habitat of totok shells (Polymesoda erosa) of high economic value, however, the sustainability of these protein sources is threatened due to habitat degradation and over-harvesting. This study aims to (i) analyze the suitability of Segara Anakan Lagoon to cultivate the toktok shells, as a conservation effort, based on the aspect of primary productivity and chlorophyll-a; (ii) to analyze the suitability of Segara Anakan waters to cultivate the toktok shells based on field data and SPOT satellite image data, ie chlorophyll a, water surface temperature, total suspended solid, pH, dissolved oxygen, salinity, as well as nitrate and phosphate content. The basic concept of this research is combining SPOT satellite image analysis and direct field measurement of some primary productivity parameters in Segara Anakan waters to know the suitability for thokthok shells cultivation. Based on scoring and suitability level, stations 1 and 3 (in the western estuary of Segara Anakan lagoon) are " Suitable on condition" (Sesuai Bersyarat) for the cultivation of totok shells, covering an area of 326,035039 ha. While, stations 2, 4, 5, 6 and 7 (other locations) are " Not Suitable" (Tidak Sesuai) for the cultivation of totok shells, covering an area of 557,057573 ha.

The economic value of research has been well demonstrated on the BHP Iron Ore heavy haul railroad. The research began when the considerable expansion that occurred soon after the start of operations led to accelerated component deterioration. This raised the possibility of having to curtail production. The paper describes how the nature and direction of the research activities have changed over time, with the programmes becoming more proactive rather than reactive.

River Sand is one of the basic ingredients used in the production of concrete. Consequently, continuous consumption of sand in construction industry contributes significantly to depletion of natural resources. To achieve more sustainable construction materials, this paper reports the use of iron ore tailings (IOT) as replacement for river sand in concrete production. IOT is a waste product generated from the production of iron ore and disposed to land fill without any economic value. Concrete mixtures containing different amount of IOT were designed for grade C30 with water to cement ratio of 0.60. The percentage ratios of the river sand replacements by IOT were 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%. Concrete microstructure test namely, XRD and Field Emission Scanned Electron Microscopic/Energy dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (FESEM/EDX) were conducted for control and IOT concretes in order to determine the interaction and performance of the concrete containing IOT. Test results indicated that the slump values of 130 mm and 80 to 110 mm were recorded for the control and IOT concretes respectively. The concrete sample of 50% IOT recorded the highest compressive strength of 37.7 MPa at 28 days, and the highest flexural strength of 5.5 MPa compared to 4.7 MPa for reference concrete. The texture of the IOT is rough and angular which was able to improve the strength of the concrete.

In this review canola meal (CM), its nutritionally significant components and the availability of its nutrients to poultry, pigs and cattle were discussed. Avenues for possible improvement in available energy, protein and lysine were identified. Recent findings on glucosinolates were also discussed with the conclusion that a further reduction of glucosinolates through plant breeding is both possible and desirable. The role of the anti-nutrients sinapine, tannins and phytic acid were also considered. The potential impact of improvements to CM on its economic value was examined using linear program least-cost ration formulations applied to typical market situations. Key words: Canola meal, energy, protein, carbohydrates, anti-nutritional factors, economics
