<p>Biology learning in MA (Madrasah Aliyah) Khas Kempek was still dominated by teacher with low students’ involvement. This study would analyze the effectiveness of the 5E (Engagement, Exploration, Explanation, Elaboration, Evaluation) learning model in improving scientific knowledge and problems solving. It also explained the relationship between students’ scientific reasoning with their problem-solving abilities. This was a pre-experimental research with one group pre-test post-test. Sixty students of MA Khas Kempek from XI MIA 3 and XI MIA 4 involved in this study. The learning outcome of the students was collected by the test of reasoning and problem-solving. The results showed that the rises of students’ scientific reasoning ability were 69.77% for XI MIA 3 and 66.27% for XI MIA 4, in the medium category. The problem-solving skills were 63.40% for XI MIA 3, 61.67% for XI MIA 4, and classified in the moderate category. The simple regression test found a linear correlation between students’ scientific reasoning and problem-solving ability. This study affirms that reasoning ability is needed in problem-solving. It is found that application of 5E learning model was effective to improve scientific reasoning and problem-solving ability of students.</p>

Scientific reasoning and problem-solving have become primary interests in 21st-century education. These skills have an essential role in preparing students to face global competition. This study aims to determine the correlation between scientific reasoning and problem-solving skills of biology students in animal classification and whether scientific reasoning can be used to predict problem-solving skills. The participants were 56 undergraduate students of Biology Education. The scientific reasoning and problem-solving skills of students were assessed with the pre and post-test. A simple linear regression test using the SPSS 16.0 was applied in data analysis. The results showed a p-value of 0.00 < 0.05, so there is a correlation between scientific reasoning and argumentation skills. R-value indicates 0.523, which means a strong correlation. The contribution of scientific reasoning to argumentation skills was 27.3%, while other variables explained the rest.

This research aims to improve senior high school students’ physics problem-solving skills through learning used IBMR learning model. This research was a pre-an experimental study with a one-group pre-test and post-test design. The Methods of data collection used validation and test. The materials used to teach were valid category by two experts and can be used to practice physics problem-solving skills. The average post-test score physics problem-solving ability was 73.24 with an N-gain of 0.59 was classified as moderate. The success of IBMR learning model-based devices in practicing problem-solving abilities can be seen in the increase in the average score in each indicator of problem-solving abilities. The indicator of understanding the problem had the highest post-test average score of 94.58 with an N-gain of 0.89 in the high category. The problem-solving indicator had the lowest posttest average score was 58.22 with N-gain 0.39 and mean that it was the moderate category. Based on the results study, it can be concluded that the learning used by IBMR learning model can practice the ability to solve physics problems on heat material and its displacement. Learning with the IBMR learning model was expected to train students in solving physics problems. The stages in the IBMR learning model can help students

This research was focusing in the difference of learning outcome, specially on Basic Electrical and Electronic, in first grade at SMKN 5 Padang. The purpose was to reveal the difference of Problem Solving and Problem Posing learning model when they were implemented. By using quasi experimental dengan nonprobability sampling tecnique, was obtained two experiment classes. The first experiment class was X TAV 1E3A, which was implemented Problem Posing learning model. The second experiment class was X TAV 1E3B, which was implemented Problem Solving learning model. The primary data was measured by post test based on basic competence of subject. Based on the t-test, complying the pre-requisite such as normality test, this research found that t>t0 (2,627 > 1,697). However, the result has shown that Problem Posing learning model was providing student’s learning outcome better than Problem Solving. Therefore, the Problem Posing learning model is better implemented than Problem Solving.Keywords: Problem Posing, Problem Solving, Learning Outcome.

This study aims to determine whether the use of the problem-based learning model can influence the understanding of concepts and problem-solving skills in social studies learning in the fourth grade of SDN 1 Mulung. This study uses a quantitative method with quasi-experimental design type nonequivalent sampled group design. The dependent variable in this study is the understanding of concepts and problem-solving skills, and the different variables are problem-based learning models. The sample chosen in this study uses namely IV-A class students totaling 20 students and IV-B class students totaling 20 students, using the sample random sampling technique. Data collection techniques using tests (pre-test and post-test). The research instrument used was a test sheet for understanding concepts and problem-solving skills. Instrument analysis technique uses validity test and reliability test while the data analysis technique uses the normality test, homogeneity test, hypothesis test, and normalized n-gain test. Based on the calculation of the T-test, Sig. (2-tailed) That is equal to 0,000 <0,05, then Ha is accepted, or there are significant differences between the difference between the results of the post-test and pre-test of the control class with the difference between the results of the post-test and the pre-test of the experimental class. This can be interpreted that the problem-based learning model has a significant effect on the understanding of concepts and problem-solving skills in social studies learning in the fourth grade of SDN 1 Mulung on natural resource material. To provide effective, interesting, and fun learning for students, teachers, should use an interesting learning model.

Biology subjects are included in science subjects, while students have difficulty solving problems because they are less able to think flexibly when receiving new information. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between cognitive flexibility and problem solving skills (KPM) in biology subjects in class X MIA 1 MAN Kota Tasikmalaya. This research was conducted from October to November 2020. The research method used was correlational with a total population of 3 class X MIA students with a total of 86 students. Samples were taken by purposive sampling technique of 1 class (28 people). The data analysis technique used is a simple linear regression test. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between cognitive flexibility and problem solving skills (R = 0.840; R2 = 0.706). Has a relationship strength of 0.840 and a contribution of cognitive flexibility to problem solving skills by 70.6%.

The environmental education course currently does not integrate problem-solving problem skills. The purpose of this study was analyzing the results of applying integration on problem-based learning with the RMS (reading, mind mapping, and sharing) learning model. The research method was a quasi-experimental with pre-test-post-test control group design. The study was conducted on 56 students who took an environmental education course in Natural Science Education Universitas Tidar. Data analysis used an Anacova test with a pretest as its covariate. The study results stated that 1) developed learning model integrates PBL with RMS learning model consisting of identifying problems, finding relevant information about problems through reading activities, analyzing problem: group discussion through mind mapping, providing solutions, and sharing results of mind mapping. 2) The integration of PBL with the RMS learning model indicated by an average score of post-test in the integration of PBL with the RMS learning model class of 68.46, and the traditional class of 48.92. 3) the learning process that occurs in the integration of PBL with the RMS learning model class shows that learning is run well, which is indicated by students' average evaluation score of the lecturer learning process. The integration of PBL and RMS model can be utilized by teachers and lecturers in Biology learning to have thinking skills and solve daily problems.

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa yang diajarkan dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD lebih tinggi daripada siswa yang di ajarkan dengan model pembelajaran langsung pada siswa kelas VIII SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Medan. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Medan dan sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII-A dan kelas VIII-B sebanyak 72 siswa. Kelas VIII-A diberi STAD dan kelas VIII-B diberi pembelajaran langsung. Jenis penelitian ini adalah eksperimen semu. Dari analisis data pada kelas eksperimen diperoleh nilai rata-rata pre test 58,18 dan simpangan baku pre test 7,62 sedangkan nilai rata-rata post test 86,70. Pada kelas kontrol diperoleh nilai rata-rata pre test 58,14 dan simpangan baku pre test 8,70 sedangkan nilai rata-rata post test 78,28. Dari analisis data postest dengan menggunakan uji-t pada taraf = 0,05 diperoleh thitung = 2,12 dan  ttabel = 1,668 yang ternyata thitung > ttabel maka H0 ditolak dan Ha diterima. Maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa yang diajar dengan menerapkan model pembelajaran STAD lebih tinggi daripada siswa yang diajar dengan pembelajaran langsung pada materi kubus dan balok. Kata kunci: Kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah Matematika, STAD, Pembelajara Langsung ABSTRACTThe aim of this research were to know whether the problem solving skills of mathematics students who was taught by using cooperative learning model STAD type is higher than students who was taught by using direct instruction in class VIII SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Medan. The population in this research was all of the students in class VIII SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Medan and the sampel are the students in class VIII-A and VIII-B  which total 72 students. Class VIII-A was taught by using STAD and class VIII-B was taught by using direct intrustion. This is quasi experiment. The result of this research the mean of pretest of the data in experiment class  was 58,18 and standard devision of pretest 7,62 although the mean of    posttest 86,70. The result of this research the mean of pretetst of the data in control class was 58,14 and standard devision of pretetst 8,70 although the mean of the data posttest 78,28. From the analysis data of posttest  with using t-test with = 0,05, the result thitung = 2,12 and  ttabel = 1,668 and evidently thitung > ttabel so H0 was rejected dan Ha was accepted. So the conclusion is problem solving skills of mathematics students who was taught by using cooperative learning model STAD type is higher than students who was taught by using direct instruction. Abstrak — Menggunakan model dan strategi pembelajaran yang bervariatif merupakan salah satu cara untuk menumbuhkan minat belajar siswa dalam pembelajaran matematika. Creative problem solving adalah model pembelajaran yang memusatkan pada pengajaran dan keterampilan pemecahan masalah yang diikuti dengan penguatan keterampilan. Penguatan keterampilan yang dimaksud adalah dengan menggunakan media pembelajaran, salah satunya dengan aplikasi maple untuk memecahkan masalah matematika. Riset ini memakai penelitian kuantitatif dengan tipe eksperimen untuk mengetahui kefektifan model pembelajaran creative problem solving dengan media pembelajaran maple untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di salah satu sekolah menengah atas di Surabaya pada kelas XMIA1 semester ganjil tahun ajaran 2019/2020 dengan melibatkan 30 siswa. Kegiatan dalam penelitian ini meliputi pemberian pre test, pemberian perlakuan, dan pemberian post test. Kemudian perolehan dari nilai pre test dan post test dianalisis untuk melihat kefektifan pembelajaran creative problem solving berbasis aplikasi maple. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya dampak model pembelajaran berbasis aplikasi maple terhadap kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa yang didapatkan dengan uji t. Selain itu, berdasarkan uji Gain dihasilkan nilai rata-rata N-Gain 0.71 yang berada pada interval N-Gain 0.7 < 𝑔 ≤ 1.00, yang artinya pembelajaran creative problem solving berbasis aplikasi maple memiliki tingkat keefektifan yang tinggi. Selanjutnya, data yang didapatkan dari penelitian ini merupakan data berdistribusi normal. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari perolehan uji normalitas data yang hasil signifikansinya > 0.05. Selain itu, data yang didapat dari penelitian ini merupakan data yang homogen. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari hasil uji homogenitas data yang hasil signifiansinya > 0,05.Kata kunci: Creative Problem Solving, Maple, Berpikir KreatifAbstract — Using the variety of learning models and strategies is one of the ways to grow students learning interests in mathematics learning. Creative problem solving is a learning model that focuses on teaching and problem solving skills followed by strengthening skills. Strengthening skills in question is using learningmedia, one of them with maple application to solve mathematics problems. This research uses quantitative research with experiment to find out the effectivity of creative problem solving learning model with maple (learning media) to improve the ability of students creative thinking. This research was conducted at privatesenior highschool in Surabaya class X MIA1 in the odd semester of the 2019/2020 school year involving 30 students. Activities in this research include giving pretest, treatment, and posttest. Then the results of the pretest and posttest scores were analyzed to determine the effectiveness of creative problem solving learning based on maple application. The results of this research indicate the influence of learning model based on maple application to students' creative thinking abilities obtained by t test. In addition, based on Gain test, the average value of N-Gain is 0.71 which is in the N-Gain interval 0.7 < 𝑔 ≤ 1.00. It means that creative problem solving learning based on maple application has a high level of effectiveness. Furthermore, the data obtained from this research are normal distribution data. This can be seen from the results of data normality test whose significance is > 0.05. In addition, the data obtained from this research are homogeneous data. The purpose of this research are: 1) to know the learning activity of learners mathematics which is taught by Search, Solve, Create, and Share (SSCS), and 2) model to know the ability of problem solving of mathematics learners who taught by SSCS learning model in the class XI MIA MAN 1 Muara Labuh academic year 2016/2017. This research belongs to a kind of quasi-experimental research with randomized control group only design. In this study design, a group of subjects taken from a particular population were randomly assigned into two groups, the experimental group and the control group. After analyzing the data, it is known that the learning activity of the students after applying the SSCS learning model has improved towards the better from the first meeting to the fifth meeting, ie 35%, 45%, 55%, 68%, 77%. Based on the hypothesis test obtained ttable = 1.645 and tcount = 2.598 so obtained (2.598> 1.645) at 95% confidence interval. Because tcount > ttable then hypothesis in this research accepted. Thus, students 'math-problem-solving skills taught by SSCS learning models are higher than the students' uneducated mathematical problem-solving skills with SSCS learning modelsKeywords: Problem solving abilities, search, solve, sreate and share (SSCS) learning models
