EXPOSITION OF MENTAL SCHEMES AND COPINGS IN THE CONFESSIONAL NOVEL BY SVITLANA ALEXIEVYCH «SECOND-HAND TIME»

The article gets opportunities to use the polyphonic confessional novel ‘Second-Hand Time’ by S. Alexievych for   a spiritual healing of the post-totalitarian societies. Such healing is characterized by a very important feature like the synthesis of the schema-therapy and bibliotherapy as a mean of solving the problems connected with re-socialization, humanistic psycho education of the present generations, personality self-education. It is clarified in which way  the exposition of irrational beliefs and dispositions (schemes) and techniques of mastering, which are given in the form of dysfunctional child and parent particles  as well as coping styles of conquest, avoiding and overcompensation in the literary work, may enhance the understanding of  the causes of formation, the mechanisms of preservation and functioning of  illusory destructive and victim   directives in the collective and personality value consciousness depriving either personality or entire society of the  attributes of subjectivity, responsibility, and respect. It is concluded that the author's position as to the limited re-paternity gives a chance to make an aksiocorrection of the present motivational discourse peculiar to the generations hurt by the Communist ideology and deprivation: to promote the validation and reconstruction of the negative life experience as well as strengthening of the productive coping-particles of a child and an adult to interrupt the pathologic transgenic transmission. У статті представлено можливості використання поліфонічного роману-сповіді С. Алексієвич «Час секонд хенд» з метою духовного оздоровлення посттоталітарних суспільств. Важливим чинником такого оздоровлення виступає синтез схема-терапії та бібліотерапії як засобу розв’язання завдань ресоціалізації, гуманістичної психоедукації нині сущих поколінь, самовиховання особистості.                З’ясовано, як експозиція представлених у художньому літературному творі ірраціональних переконань і диспозицій (схем) і способів опанування у формі дисфункційних дитячих і батьківських часток та копінг-стилів підкорення, уникнення й гіперкомпенсації сприяє усвідомленню причин формування, механізмів збереження і функціонування в колективній та індивідуальній ціннісній свідомості ілюзорних деструктивних і віктимних настановлень, що позбавляють окремих осіб і суспільство загалом атрибутів суб’єктності, відповідальності, гідності.                Зроблено висновок про те, що авторська позиція обмеженого повторного батьківства дає змогу здійснити аксіокорекцію наявного мотиваційного дискурсу травмованих комуністичної ідеологією і деприваційною практикою поколінь людей: валідизувати й реконструювати негативний життєвий досвід та зміцнити продуктивні копінг-частки дорослого і щасливої дитини з метою переривання патологічної трансгенеративної передачі.

This article discusses the social facts experienced by Americans in literature, especially novel. Literary work as a social documentation imagined by the author is a reflection of the values of a nation or ethnicity. The main objective of research is to trace the reality of slavery that occurred in America as a social fact in literary works. This research is useful in strengthening the sociological aspects of literary works as well as proving that literary works save a social reality at the time so that readers are able to judge literary works not merely as fiction, but also as social documentation. The writer in this study uses one of the literary research methods, namely Genetic Structuralism Approach. This method emphasizes three main aspects, namely literary work, the background of the author's life, and social reality. Novel Incidents In The Life Of A Slave Girl written by Harriet Ann Jacobs in 1858 was used as primary research data, then a number of references about the author's social background and the reality of slavery in the history of the American nation became secondary data. Primary and secondary research data obtained through literature study. Based on the results of this study found the events of slavery in the history of the American nation. Slavery was the act of white Americans forcibly employing black Negroes on the lands of plantation and agricultural also mining areas. Slavery is a valuable lesson for Americans in protecting human rights today as well as a historic lesson in building the American national spirit, namely freedom, independence, and democracy. The reality of slavery is reflected in the novel Incidents In The Life Of A Slave Girl as well as the life experience of its author, Harriet Ann Jacobs.

Abstract Introducing life and work of Janina Katz, the article undertakes an analysis and interpretation of her second novel, the autofictional Putska. Born on the second of March 1939, Katz belonged to a renowned Jewish family with numerous members, of whom, however, only her mother and she survived the Second World War. Their extraordinary family history may be traced in practically all of Katz’ writings, as can her Jewish cultural heritage. The novel Putska is no exception. Its composition, characters and the image it gives of life in Cracow are examined in order to make understandable the protagonist’s decision to exile herself from Poland and migrate to Denmark, much like the author herself. 1969, having fled from that revival of anti-Semite harassment which was launched by the political leadership of socialist Poland, Katz was granted asylum in Denmark, where she soon learned the language to a perfection which enabled her to unfold a widely acknowledged literary work which does not cease to speak of her unique life experience. Central perspectives on her life and work include migration, autobiography, Jewishness and social and cultural history of Poland.

Albanian literature written from the 1940s to the present day can be called contempo-rary Albanian literature, or in other words, World Literature after the Second World War. The allowed literature was the only method of socialist realism, which was ideol-ogized and politicized, i.e. subject to communist ideology and politics. It was not free literature, but entirely engaged in the service of socialism and communism. The meth-od of socialist realism had some very narrow and binding criteria for all those who thought of publishing their works. Such were the communist members, the positive hero and the struggle against foreign middle-class influences. In such a situation, we can say that it was purely subject to ideology and communist politics. Due to its very narrow scheme, most of the literary work written during this period had its own value and function during the period of the communist system. This type of literature form some writers was accepted with conviction, while others were used to compromise to publish their works. Although under very strict censure, many important works were published which could have been contrary to socialist realism. Such works were with an indirect expression or with a subtext, often in symbolic and allegorical forms. These works consist of some of the greatest values of contemporary Albanian literature, the first and the foremost authors of this kind of literature, their best works, publishers, and their echoes in the language of translation.

Introduction: ReAttach is a new, multi-modal psychological intervention based on the theoretical principles of arousal regulation, information processing and schema therapy. Practical research indicates that ReAttach significantly reduces psychological problems in both adults and children. Theories on ReAttach state that this is done by creating functional schemas, which in turn create more effective coping styles in clients and decrease psychological distress.Objectives: This article aims to provide a better understanding of ReAttach theory and give insight in the treatment process.Methods: This is done by linking theory to the treatment process of a young adult (N=1) with symptoms of social anxiety.Results: The psychological distress in the client decreased from 32 (serious problems) to 12 (no problems).Conclusion: ReAttach decreased symptoms of anxiety in the young adult and the theoretical principles of arousal regulation, information processing and schema therapy seem applicable to the case.

Teaching extensive reading at university has a great potential for development of students’ linguistic, thinking and creative skills. By embracing the content of a literary work, students expand their vocabulary and increase their range of grammar constructions. Moreover, literary texts comprise a variety of social, ethical, and moral problems and are characterized by diverse conflicts. They are perceived and understood as a result of literary interpretation and are determined by readers’ life experience and attitudes, cultural and moral standards. Therefore, the reader-response theory becomes relevant, since it considers reading as transaction (interaction) between the reader and the text. It means that the meaning wasn’t put by the author once and for all but will be interpreted differently by different readers. Accordingly, there is no single interpretation of the literary work. The subject of this research is the problem of teaching extensive reading in English at university through reader-response theory. The purpose of the article is to introduce the premises of this theory making a case for its application and to describe the operation of literature circles as a local example of the scientific paradigm. The methodological framework of the research was comprised of the communicative approach to teaching English, task-based language learning and the studentcentered approach in collaborative learning. The article demonstrates that literature circles function in a group where each student performs his/her role and different layers of understanding of the literary text are uncovered through peer discussion. The results of the research can be of interest to both foreign language teachers and to the researchers dealing with applied methodology of teaching literature. The author proves that literature circles favorably affect both students’ motivation for extensive reading and English teaching enhancement at university.

Lyric of the Kaili Pop song is a literary work that reflects the cultural attitudes of the Kaili society as the owner. The lyrics of the song express feelings or ideas of authors based on the author's life experience. The lyrics of the Kaili's songs that are unique in the theoretical perspective representing the cultural values of Kaili that implicate literature, especially on religious values of Islamic education, (1) prayer (2) repentance, and (3) firmness/resignation. The data of this qualitative research is the text of the lyrics of Kaili pop song. The data source of this research is Kaili songs obtained through audiovisuals in the form of cassettes or CDs. Data were collected through documentation study. The text of the song’s lyric was transcribed into the data card sheets and coded according to the focus of the research. The data transcription is analyzed in accordance with the steps of analysis proposed by Ricoeur consisting of (1) semantic understanding stage, (2) reflective understanding stage, and (3) existential understanding stage.

Roland Giorgadze regularly publishes his poetry and prose in Georgian literary journals and newspapers and thus humbly contributes to the development of Georgian literary processes. The bulk of his work is presented by the following publications: Dream President (2001), The Road (2011), The Cry (2017) and Diso, Diso (2020).This time we are dealing with the novel Diso, Diso. Here, the writer described life in Georgia in the 90-ies of the 20th century in gloomy, yet, very realistic colors without any embellishment. Some very accurate stresses are made upon the poor spiritual state of the country and upon the tragic reality it causes. The novel tries to show the deplorable reasons why a human being in this ideal-free society is doomed to become degraded even if they experience a rise (before a fall). The evil has a new beginning and life in every epoch and this new beginning is presented through the character of Elepter in the novel. The novel has a slightly documentary hue. The author openly discusses all the problems. His political flair is infallible and he has a good sense of judging and evaluating current events. All walks of life are branded with the mark of a country not properly attended. Human values and selfless love for one’s homeland are no longer priorities. Diso, Diso is full of didactic maxims that clearly show the life experience of the author, his adherence to lofty values. Roland Giorgadze understands well the purpose of a literary work and that is why all his words and phrases are loaded with meaning. The author manages to convey a meaningful message is a compressed, verbally laconic way. The writer uncovers the dramatic scenes of spiritual poverty marked with time, existential details of economical squalor, that cause the fear of national endangerment and the threat of looming genocide. The criticizing and uncovering the national and state faults should not be understood as self-flagellation. It aims at making readers think and also reminding them about the importance of moral life, being close to the creator, about love and the good of forgiving. The author sees the preserving national identity through religious faith. He also sets the ways of coping with these problems in this gloomy scene of national and religious degeneration.To our judgment, Diso, Diso is an interesting publication on the current literary scene and we hope it will get the attention of both general readers and literary critics.

Translators’ ideology permeates all non-technical translations, and the need to study the extent to which ideology plays a vital role in the manipulation of literary texts with a political edge is undoubtedly important. As of Iran, the state ideology has been changed from secular to religious (Islamic) after the 1979 Islamic Revolution. This shift of ideology has influenced society in many facets, including language use. Therefore, individuals were encouraged to produce religious discourse to appear popular and this encouragement includes translation too (Amirdabbaghian 2019). This study aims to describe the ideological impact of the social situation (Islamic Revolution) in Iran on the translation of George Orwell’s well-known political novel, Animal Farm (1945) into the Persian language. The research will apply van Dijk’s (1998) theory of ideology and Lefevere’s (1992) theory of translation, rewriting and manipulation of literary fame, to discuss the paratextual differences in both the source and target texts. The target text which has been chosen for the current research is Hosseini and Nabi Zadeh’s (2003) version published by the Doostan publication in Tehran, Iran. Using the paratext of Animal Farm translated into Persian, this article makes an effort to prove that the translators’ ideology influenced by their life experience, social status, and occupation as well as the situation and environment in the target language country may be revealed in the set of tactics used in translating the literary work, in the use of language and in the interpretation of the source text author’s ideas expressed in the text.

It is said that Afro-American literature is the body of literature produced in the United states by writers of African descent. Today, Afro-American literature has become accepted as an integral part of American literature. In broad terms, Afro-American literature can be defined as writings by people of African descent living in the United States. This qualitative study analyzes a short story entitled Gorilla, My Lovewritten by a female Afro-American writer, Toni Cade Bambara. The analysis of the study aims at answering the three problem formulation: (1) states the literariness of the text (2) explains how the literariness of the text play as a means to symbolize a “broader” text (the universe) and (3) writes the proof of mental evidences taken from the text. In analyzing the short story, this study uses Sociology of Literature and Psychology of Literature. The two theories help readers understanding the theme of the short story by reading the explanation about how the narrator of the story set the plot. This study uses narrative as its approach since this is a literary study where a short story is analyzed through its narrative structure. The conclusion of the study provides the proof of its research benefits: giving information to readers about the following: (1) all about Afro-American literature plus its life-experience, family-values, etc. (2) how a literary work can connect its readers to their life and (3) an understanding that a reading-act strengthens the definition that a literary work is as a portrait of human experience.
