Обоснованы предложения по интенсификации программ повышения квалификации преподавателей, насыщению образовательных программ вопросами применения современных технологий менеджмента. the authors consider the conservatism of university educational programs as one of the obstacles in the preparation of potential university teachers. The article discusses the features of training higher education teachers in the areas of social and humanitarian education. The authors present the results of a survey of undergraduates and graduate students, indicating a lack of applied knowledge of postgraduate and graduate students in the field of modern technologies such as Agile. Since World War II, the federal government has provided funds to pay for the education of veterans through the GI bill. Yet, these funds were unavailable from 1955 to 1965. This article considers four potentially overlapping hypotheses to describe the effect of military service on veterans' educational attainment in the absence of government funding. Military service may have (1) reproduced civilian status defined by social background, (2) reflected the process of selection on the basis of individual characteristics, (3) changed men's educational trajectories by providing a positive turning point, or (4) disrupted the educational portion of the transition to adulthood. The results indicate that veterans who were drafted were less likely than were nonveterans and veterans who were not drafted to go on to college, which is consistent with the disruption hypothesis, and that military service diverted academically ambitious men from their plans for higher education. Thus, military service disrupted some men's educational trajectories, but may also be described as a turning point with negative, rather than positive, consequences for the pursuit of higher education.

Abstract The paper presents results of the survey monitoring individual concepts of e-learning of university students. The survey ran at the Faculty of Informatics and Management, University of Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic. The research sample consisted of 104 respondents who enrolled in the first year of bachelor study programme of Applied Informatics and master study programme of Information Management. In the first phase, students did not design their mind maps by themselves but the Khan’s model of e-learning was used. This model includes 17 terms which are structured in eight dimensions. In the first phase students worked with these terms and structured them into their own concept; adding other terms or omitting any of them was encouraged. In case of completely different concept, students might have designed their own mind maps. The results showed students’ concept of e-learning had not been completely built despite their field of study is Informatics, i.e. they are expected to have close relation to modern technologies in general, including the field of education.

In order to maintain competitiveness, in order to meet the requirements of a constantly changing environment, almost any organization needs development. In this regard, there are certain problems that often require immediate solutions. And the educational organization of higher education is no exception. The main thing is to identify adverse circumstances (i.e. problems) in time and correctly, identify opportunities (favorable circumstances) and find ways to solve existing problems. At present, there are various problems of modern technical education – this is the rapid development of modern technologies (their appearance is much faster than the existing timeline for training specialists), and high competition (now knowledge-intensive and high-tech projects are preferred), and the complexity of training combined with the isolation of many teachers from real practical activities, and at the same time the graduates' reluctance to go to work on the received specialty, given the relatively low wages. The problems of higher technical education outlined in the presented material were revealed through a survey of students (future engineers, economists and managers) and suggested ways to solve them.

Abstract University students from refugee and asylum-seeker backgrounds (SRABs) have unique resettlement experiences related to disrupted education, family expectations, financial pressures, and visa uncertainty. These arduous experiences often translate into a strong determination to access education and persevere with tertiary studies. Supportive educational trajectories are crucial to increase social cohesion and help redress the personal and social disadvantages SRABs face. Yet, there is virtually no attention paid to aspirations about progression to postgraduate studies despite the diverse aspirations and talents of many. This article reports on a qualitative study that explored the perspectives of six SRABs and two academics at an Australian university on aspirations to postgraduate studies. Participants identified several obstacles and opportunities at personal, institutional, community, and policy levels. Many existing recommendations in the enabling pathways literature focus on what universities could do differently, but we argue for a whole-of-person approach that considers institutional as well as personal issues, to increase prospects of SRABs progressing to postgraduate studies. Universities can assist with better institutional support structures, mentoring, raising staff awareness about SRABs, and financial aid. While institutions might not be able to directly address financial, visa, and personal concerns, universities can implement simple strategies to minimise their impact.
