The existing ballastless track with wooden sleepers on the Vierendeel bridges in Mechelen will be replaced by a new slab track system with continuously welded rails across the bridge. Additionally, the rails will be positioned eccentrically on the stringers due to track optimization. This paper describes the design and implementation of this new modular track system that consists of prefabricated fully welded steel frames that are bolted onto the existing superstructure. During the design stage, focus was on the required load transfer via the steel frame to the bridge superstructure, on the large difference in steel characteristics between the old and new material and on the position of joints and fastenings. Lateral and longitudinal stiffness of the track was tested on a prototype and the final solution was already installed and successfully implemented on one bridge. In addition, field tests in relation to rail-bridge interaction have started.

The final phase of the development program of 3000-hp turbine included an inservice field evaluation. El Paso Natural Gas Co. shared in this phase by installing one of the two prototype units in gas transmission service. This paper describes the unit and its application and reviews the first year’s operation including inspections, tests and modifications.

This study aims to develop a simulation and modeling physics textbook assisted by Unity3D software with a self-regulated learning approach. This research uses Development and Research method through 4D Model. The definition stage is carried out by determining the characteristics of the textbook that will be developed through the initial study. The design stage is done by choosing the format and design of the textbook to produce the first correction (draft). The development stage is carried out to have the second draft, third correction, and the final product of the textbook. The second correction is obtained through the revised expert validation results that have been recommended. The third correction is the acquisition of small group test results by taking them randomly. Based on the results of field tests on students who are taking Physics Simulation and Modeling courses, the final product of the textbook is obtained. One of the textbook features and tools developed is the project assignment feature and the video tutorial tool. Based on the validation of the textbook and its supporting devices, the criteria are very feasible and ready to be used and can guide student learning independently through the features in the textbook. The development of this textbook is expected to assist in developing simulations and modeling in physics and other fields of science, such as engineering and health.

AbstractThis study aims to design and implement self-assessment on the subjects of programming techniques in the class X majoring in audio video engineering (TAV) SMK Negeri 3 Singaraja, Buleleng Regency, Bali Province. The research subject amounted to 58 students taken from 2 classes of existing TAV X, with details of 1 class from TAV 1 with 29 students and TAV 2 with 29 students. This research is a research and development research with 4-D model (define, design, development, disseminate) introduced by Thiagarajan Semmel. In this study, the disseminate were not made because research was not developed on a wider scale. Data analysis was done by quantitative descriptive technique. The result of the research is that the define stage consists of questionnaire of teacher need for self assessment of programming technique and the result of self assessment form needed by attitude evaluation, self concept, the written test, the presentation, the performance of the skill. The syllabus analysis also requires self-assessment on each of the basic competencies. While the design stage consists of revision RPP and design of checklist that have self assessment based on the 2013 curriculum. . Based on the results of field tests and data analysis drawn conclusions as follows; (1) The checklist grading of self-assessment for programming technique subjects enables the creation of various checklist statements for each type of cognitive, affective, and psychomotor process. (2) Validation of self-assessment based tests includes: (a) Validity of contents is eligible by performing judgment test using Gregory formula obtained content validity of 1.00 means judges declare relevant instruments to be tested. (b) the empirical validity of the instrument using the biserial point correlation formula shall be declared eligible because of all the provisions that must be followed such as; test the validity of the item that has been done as specified. (3) The reliability of a check test based on self-assessment using KR-20 formula is considered to be eligible because consistency or t testability is still high. .Keywords: self assessment, implementation, Planning, technical progamming.

For TransCanada PipeLines, the need to retrofit station and compressor unit controls has been driven by the requirements to improve reliability, availability and cost and difficulties associated with interfacing new digital control systems with existing analog systems. TransCanada’s massive four year expansion program has exacerbated this need. TransCanada’s turbo compressor controls are becoming obsolete, they are difficult to troubleshoot and maintain, do not control a unit as effectively as newer digital controls and do not have adequate operator or technician interfaces and diagnostics. This paper describes TransCanada PipeLines reasons and experiences in retrofitting state-of-the-art digital controls in a cost effective manner while minimizing service interruptions.
