Scientists, national politicians and specialists from Lithuania and other countries identified the main determinants of the social development of the territories of Lithuania, the problems of the society, which have been influenced by this development, and possible trends of change. Although the social development of Lithuanian territories is determined by a "bundle" of social problems, the focus of the article is on those that may affect the availability of education in the most sparsely populated districts of Lithuania. The aim of this article is to reveal the prospects of education availability in the most sparsely populated areas of Lithuania in the context of the social development of the country's territories. The main problem question related to this is what prospects for the availability of education in the most sparsely populated areas of the country presuppose the social development of Lithuania's territories. In order to achieve the aim of the article, the design of the research was based on the theoretical analysis of the problem raised and a secondary analysis of the data in the field. The main findings of the research reflect the situation in the field of study, and the conclusions of the research drawn on the basis of them provide an assessment of the prospects of education accessibility in the most sparsely populated areas of Lithuania.

Prostisusi becomes one of the social problems that continues to develop over time. Various internal and external factors trigger this activity to continue to exist until now. This research examines the business of prostitution as a form of disease in society and social problems. This research tries to reveal the karaoke business under the guise of illegal prostitution business, especially in Central Java. This research uses the approach of Criminal Law, Criminology, and Social Structure. The research method used is qualitative research, where the writer directly looks at existing social phenomena and seeks field facts through observation, interviews, and investigations. This research found that various factors become the background of the existence of the karaoke business under the guise of illegal prostitution in Central Java, ranging from economic and business factors to weak rules and law enforcement. The study also revealed the fact that the karaoke business secretly provided sex or prostitution services, but law enforcement was ineffective. One of the ineffectiveness of law enforcement is the problem of law enforcement apparatuses and bribery resources that occur within the law enforcement environment. In addition, this business also deals directly with business and economic investment holders.

Social constructionism offers valuable insights into the study of social problems for example, poverty, homelessness, crime and delinquency, including how social phenomena ‘become’ social problems, through social processes of interaction and interpretation. The social construction of child maltreatment has recently emerged as a site of scholarly inquiry and critique. This paper explores through three case studies how ‘responsibility for child maltreatment’ is constructed in child protection practice, with a specific focus on how ‘responsibility’ may also be gendered. In particular, how is gender associated with responsibility, such that the identity-pair, ‘responsible mothers, invisible men’, is a highly likely outcome as claimed in feminist literature? What other assumptions about ‘identities of risk’ or ‘dangerousness’ articulate with patriarchy and influence how responsibility is constructed? The case studies explore normally invisible processes by which social categories become ‘fact’, ‘knowledge’ and ‘truth’. Furthermore, the social construction of ‘responsibility for child maltreatment’ is extended by a reflexive analysis of my own constructionist practices, as researcher/writer in claims making. The analysis offers an insight into the dynamic and dialectical relationship between professional and organisational knowledge and practice, allowing for a critique of knowledge itself, the basis for the claims made and possible alternative ways of knowing.

This thematic Special Issue is the second in a five-year series on social psychology of social change that aims to feature the science and practice of interventions for social change. But, current work in the social psychology of social change still focuses on theoretical analysis of social problems; the action-oriented approach to social psychology research is not yet a strong movement in social psychology in the region. This is reflected in the research features in the Special Issue, where only one exemplifies the action research approach. Nevertheless, there is progress towards applying the theoretical lenses and methodological tools of social psychology to develop sharper understanding of particular social problems and the theoretical analysis that draws from close social contextual analysis and from indigenous concepts plays an important role in this progress. Even as we reflect on the challenges for moving towards action-oriented social psychology research, we note how social psychologists in the Asian and Pacific region are focusing their attention on local social concerns.

This work aims a theoretical analysis of the historical situation of social problems politicization in modern Russia, by referring to achievements of modern historical sociology of revolutions and interdisciplinary synthesis in the study of social movements. Turning to the achievements of the historical sociology of revolutions and social movements allows us to understand the politicization of social problems in modern Russia within a broader theoretical context. As well it allows us to understand politicization in modern Russia within the context of state crises as revolutionary politicization (which is a consequence of “revolutionary neurosis” phenomenon). Besides this turning helps theoretically explore the politicization of social problems in modern Russia as a communicative (ideological) crisis in relations between the state and society. This theoretical analysis bases on the qualitative methodology of modern social research in the study of political and social phenomena. The generalized method of this work is the comparative social hermeneutics of historical phenomena of revolutions and states, based on the political theory of J. Habermas. Author considers the politicization of socially significant topics as a constant dialogue between state and society. The communicative rationality of the state aims at understanding in dialogue. Transition from the USSR to the Russian Federation destroyed the Soviet ideological paradigm and a new ideological paradigm is being created, which affects the complexity of the dialogue between state and society. The author concludes that the phenomenon of revolutionary politicization in modern Russia (the abnormality of the dialogue between the state and society) is a consequence of the lack of communicative rationality at the state.
