Genital warts are common relative to other verrucous lesions of the anogenital region. Consideration of the differential diagnosis of verrucous anogenital lesions is necessary, however, to make a correct diagnosis consistently and to avoid futile, painful, and possibly traumatic attempts at treatment. In this report, I describe a child with a history suspicious for sexual abuse who was treated with inappropriate measures because of misdiagnosis of perianal lymphangioma circumscriptum as genital warts. The pathogenesis, differential diagnosis, and treatment of lymphangioma is presented. CASE REPORT A 5-year-old Hispanic boy was referred by his pediatrician to the Dermatology Service with an eruption of red papules on the left buttock and perianal region.

Gastrointestinal stromal tumours (GISTs) are rare - and rectovaginal extragastrointestinal stromal tumours (RV-EGISTs) even rarer. We share a case of RV-EGIST, complemented by high-quality radiological and surgical images. A review of current literature pertaining to RV-EGIST is also included. Our case report highlights the diagnostic challenge presented by extragastrointestinal stromal tumours. Differentiated from overlapping pathologies only by targeted application of immunohistopathology and cytogenetics, the inclusion of RV-EGIST in the differential diagnosis of a rectovaginal tumour is essential to making this correct diagnosis. Primary surgery is the treatment of choice for RV-EGIST if complete cytoreduction can be achieved, combined with adjuvant tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) therapy for those with high-risk features to further reduce rates of future recurrence.

Paragangliomas of the head and neck are extremely rare tumors. During the period of professional activity, a radiologist can meet single patients with parangliomas. So it is important to know the main diagnostic signs when meeting with such patients, вecause on-time diagnosis and treatment contribute to reduce surgical risk. The purpose of this review is to study the most common localizations of paragangliomas of head and neck and describe main visualization characteristics which are necessary for correct diagnosis and differential diagnosis.

ABSTRACT A problem that an endodontist can encounter during the course of root canal treatment is pain and swelling or both in the form of flare-ups. The causes for this flare-up are numerous which include mechanical, chemical, microbial injury to the pulp or periradicular tissues, whereby an acute periradicular inflammation results. This situation can be prevented by selection of instrumentation technique, that extrude lesser amount of debris apically, completion of biomechanical preparation in a single sitting, use of antimicrobial intracanal medicament between appointment in the treatment of infected cases with an appropriate coronal temporary restoration and maintaining asepsis throughout the root canal treatment. The flare-up phenomena are complex and not well-understood which involves a number of hypotheses for its etiology. A correct diagnosis and treatment aids in the resolution of the flare-up. This case report explains the management of an interappointment flare-up, with an overview of flare-ups. How to cite this article Shenoy V, Kumar R, Sumanthini MV. The paper presents a case of a 61-year-old patient with chronic lymphocytic inflammation with pontine perivascular enhancement responsive to steroids (CLIPPERS), along with a detailed description of the diagnostic and therapeutic process, as well as radiological records reflecting the evolution of lesions depending on the steroid therapy used. We also refer to the latest literature reports on the aetiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of this clinical entity, including its potential relationship with lymphoproliferative and lymphohistiocytic processes. Furthermore, we present a spectrum of diseases that can clinically and radiologically mimic CLIPPERS (CLIPPERS-mimics), along with the proposed differential diagnosis. Finally, the paper presents the recommended treatment strategy for both acute disease and a maintenance therapy, with particular emphasis on the role of steroid therapy.

Kazabach-Merritt syndrome is extremely rare in pediatric practice. Clinical manifestations are diverse- and this fact complicates the early diagnosis and treatment of the disease.Purpose: to draw the attention of neonatologists and pediatricians to the early diagnosis of rare hematological syndromes.Materials and methods. An extended examination of the child and a thorough differential diagnosis with other vascular anomalies were carried out. Results. The KMS was diagnosed on the base of: the assessment of the anamnesis, clinical - laboratory and instrumental examination methods.Conclusion. The diagnosis of KMS requires an extended examination of the child and careful differentiation of other vascular anomalies.

The article reports on the clinical case of a patient with a diagnosis of "Stafne cyst", who was treated in the oncology department No. 8 of the Pavlov PSPbSMU. The features of differential diagnosis and diagnostic measures necessary to clarify the diagnosis are given. The situations when it is possible to avoid additional traumatic tests, as well as indications for the choice of surgical intervention or the possibility of refusing it, are analyzed. The presented data can be useful when creating algorithms for the diagnosis and treatment of a Staph cyst and making recommendations on the timing of treatment.

The lower extremities of 60 consecutive symptomatic patients were examined first by ultrasound (US) and then by phlebography. Deep venous thrombosis was found in 17 patients by means of venography. A hematoma was detected by US in six legs without thrombosis. A popliteal cyst was observed by US in five cases; one patient had a concurrent deep venous thrombosis. It was concluded that symptomatic patients with a negative phlebography should be examined by US for correct diagnosis and treatment, although US cannot replace phlebography.

Abstract Aim This report presents two cases diagnosed with atypical odontalgia (AO) and successfully treated with amitriptyline as well providing a review of the current literature on the subject. Results The literature indicates the most important issue is an accurate differential diagnosis to distinguish between AO, pulpal pain, myofascial pain, and trigeminal neuralgia. Conclusion Once the correct diagnosis is made the prognosis of AO is usually fair and the administration of tricyclic antidepressants often resolves symptoms. An effort should be made to avoid any unnecessary dental treatment that would only aggravate the problem. Citation Melis M, Secci S.
