Introduction. The development of information technologies and innovations in education calls for the need for an objective assessment of their impact on cognitive processes, psychological and physiological reactions of students. The aim of the study is to assess the influence of the level of multimedia on the effectiveness of training, as well as the psychological and physiological state of students, which characterizes the comfort/discomfort of being in an educational environment. Materials and Methods. Qualitative data analysis methods are: pre- and post-tests after the experience of perceiving educational content at various levels of multimedia to measure the learning outcomes of the experiment participants. Psychodiagnostic methods are: Ch. Spielberger's questionnaire modified by Yu.L. Khanin (level of personal and situational anxiety) for measuring the level of situational anxiety (ST) before and after the training stage. Questionnaire SAN by Yu. Doskin (state of health, activity, mood) was used for evaluating the level of SAN (before and after the training stage). Evaluation of endogenous time was done by counting by the duration of an individual minute (before and after the learning stage). An adapted version of the Dissociative Experience Scale was used for measuring mood before and after the learning phase. Physiological methods are the hemodynamic parameters. Results. Analysis of the findings adduces to best learning in an immersive environment, which is confirmed by the results of pre- and post-testing, apart from that, interaction in a virtual environment facilitated the increase in the index of positive emotions and decreased the level of situational anxiety. The study of students’ physiological reaction in this environment revealed insignificant fluctuations in hemodynamic parameters ‒ an increase in systolic and diastolic blood pressure, which may adduce to the activation of the sympathetic tone of the autonomic system, providing a stress response, in our case, to a new format of training. The least psychologically comfortable environment for learning was the linear multimedia environment (video presentation) which caused a statistically significant increase in the level of anxiety and a decrease in the duration of an individual minute. Staying and studying in the hypermedia environment was comfortable for students, moderately increasing the index of positive and statistically significant decreasing the index of negative emotions, as well as a decrease in blood pressure. The latter may be indicative of a decrease in the degree of tension in the sympathetic part of the nervous system of the respondents who were in the hypermedia environment. Discussion and Conclusion. The article will be of interest to teachers who use innovative technologies in their practice, to developers of educational content in the virtual reality or hypermedia environment, as well as to government authorities that make strategic decisions regarding innovative approaches to education.

AbstractBackgroundThe vital signs reflect the physiological state of patients in various clinical conditions. The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of cold compress and Xyla-P cream on hemodynamical changes during venipuncture in hemodialysis patients.Methods and MaterialIn this clinical trial study, 50 patients under hemodialysis were selected by simple random sampling. The patients were then randomly assigned to either Xyla-P cream, cold compress or placebo groups. The vital signs (blood pressure and pulse) were measured upon two intermittent hemodialysis sessions before and after venipuncture. Data were analyzed using repeated measures analysis of variance.ResultsThe mean alternation in systolic blood pressure was significantly different comparing the placebo and cold compress groups before and after intervention (p<0.001). However, the difference was not significant between the Xyla-P cream group and either placebo (p=0.402) or ice compress (p=0.698) groups. The difference of the mean diastolic blood pressure was significant comparing the placebo group with either the Xyla-P cream group (p=0.003) or cold compress group (p<0.001) before and after intervention. In addition, there was a significant difference in the mean number of heartbeats comparing the control group with either the Xyla-P cream group (p<0.001) or cold compress group (p<0.001) before and after the intervention.ConclusionsConsidering the beneficial effects of ice compress and the Xyla-P cream on reduction of cardiovascular parameters, it is recommended to use these methods in hemodialysis patients during venipuncture.

Background: The 2 types of incentive spirometers (flow and volume-oriented) prescribed after cardiac surgery demonstrate a difference in the pattern of breathing, diaphragm mobility, pulmonary function test. Limited research is available on effect of incentive spirometer on hemodynamic parameters. Purpose: To provide hemodynamic perspective for preference of a specific type of incentive spirometer after cardiac surgery. Method: Ideal method of performing breathing on their prescribed incentive spirometer was explained. On 2nd day post surgery, heart rate, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation and blood pressure were noted immediately before and after performing 8 breaths on incentive spirometer. Results: The intergroup comparison i.e., difference between changes caused by flow and volume-oriented incentive spirometers are statistically insignificant. The intra group comparison, the changes in hemodynamic parameters by flow and volume-oriented incentive spirometers are statistically insignificant, except for heart rate with flow-oriented incentive spirometers showed statistically significant increase. Conclusions: There is no difference in the impact of flow oriented and volume-oriented Incentive spirometers on hemodynamic parameters in post cardiac surgery patients. The present study aimed to investigate the effects of a 6-month multicomponent exercise program (MCEP) on functional, cognitive, and hemodynamic parameters of older Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients. Moreover, additional analyses were performed to evaluate if T2DM patients present impaired adaptability in response to physical exercise when compared to nondiabetic volunteers. A total of 72 T2DM patients and 72 age-matched healthy volunteers (CG) were recruited and submitted to functional, cognitive, and hemodynamic evaluations before and after six months of a MCEP. The program of exercise was performed twice a week at moderate intensity. Results indicate T2DM and nondiabetic patients present an increase in mobility (i.e., usual walking speed) after the MCEP. However, improvements in maximal walking speed, transfer capacity, and executive function were only observed in the CG. On the other hand, only T2DM group reveals a marked decline in blood pressure. In conclusion, data of the current study indicate that a 6-month MCEP improves mobility and reduce blood pressure in T2DM patients. However, maximal walking speed, transfer capacity, and executive function were only improved in CG, indicating that T2DM may present impaired adaptability in response to physical stimulus.

Laughter can help to control blood pressure by reducing endocrine stress andcreating a relaxed condition to deal with relaxation.Objective: The general objective of the study was to determine the effect of laughter therapy ondecreasing elderly blood pressure in UPT Panti Wredha Budhi Dharma Yogyakarta.Methods: The design used in this study is a pre-experimental design study with one group pre-posttestresearch design where there is no control group (comparison). The population in this study wereelderly aged over> 60 years at 55 UPT Panti Wredha Budhi Dharma Yogyakarta. The method oftaking in this study uses total sampling. The sample in this study were 55 elderly. Data analysis wasused to determine the difference in blood pressure before and after laughing therapy with a ratio datascale that was using Pairs T-TestResult: There is an effect of laughing therapy on blood pressure in the elderly at UPT Panti WredhaBudhi Dharma Yogyakarta marked with a significant value of 0.000 (P <0.05)

Background: Vitamin D (VD) deficiency has been related to several endocrine metabolic and cardiovascular diseases. Effect of VD supplementation on blood pressure (BP) in patients with diabetes is controversial. Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate high-dose vitamin D supplementation effects on blood pressure of normotensive type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) patients by 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM). Methods: We performed a clinical trial including 35 T1DM normotensive patients, who received doses of 4,000 or 10,000 IU/day of cholecalciferol for 12 weeks according to previous VD levels. They underwent 24-hour ABPM, along with glycated hemoglobin, creatine, lipids profile and PCRus dosage before and after VD supplementation. Results and discussion: We found an expressive reduction of systolic and diastolic morning blood pressures (117±14 vs 112±14, p<0,05; 74±9 vs 70±10 mmHg, p<0,05, respectively) with no changes in other pressoric markers. Besides, we noticed a relation between levels of VD after supplementation and diastolic morning blood pressure (r= -0,4; p<0.05). Conclusion: Our study suggests an association between supplementation of high doses of vitamin D and the reduction of morning blood pressure in normotensive T1DM patients.

This study illustrated the physiological and psychological effects of watching videos of different durations showing bamboo forests with varied structures. Physiological indicators, including EEG (electroencephalogram), blood pressure, skin conductance, and pulse, were monitored in 180 Chinese university students (mean age: 20.72 ± 2.56 years) while they were watching bamboo videos. Before and after watching the videos, their psychological indicators, including positive and negative moods, were measured using the Profile of Mood States questionnaire. After watching the bamboo videos of different durations, all of the physiological indicators responded to the stimulation after only 1 min. The indicators showed different trends at 1, 3 and 5 min. EEG decreased and then was maintained at a stable level after 1 min, and the high β, low β, and α waves had no significant differences between 1, 3 and 5 min. Blood pressure dropped to a stable state after 3 min, and the decline was significantly different greater after 3 min than after 1 min. Skin conductance increased for 1 to 5 min, and it did not stabilize after a long time (5 min). Pulse decreased after 1 min but increased after 5 min. After watching the videos with bamboo of varying structures, the physiological and psychological indicators showed significantly different changes. Skin conductance significantly increased (mean value: 6.78%), and the amount of sweat was more effectively reduced, thereby reducing tension, when the students viewed videos of sympodial bamboo forests compared with monopodial bamboo forests. Bamboo forests with a higher canopy density (0.83–0.85) could significantly decrease α waves (mean value: 1.50 Hz), relaxing the human body. High β and low β waves showed greater decreases, with tension reduced more effectively, when bamboo forests with a low tilt ratio (< 1.5%) were viewed. Bamboo forests with neat undergrowth could have more beneficial physiological and psychological effects on the human body.

Epidemiological studies have shown that carrot consumption may be associated with a lower risk of developing several metabolic dysfunctions. Our group previously determined that the Bolero (Bo) carrot variety exhibited vascular and hepatic tropism using cellular models of cardiometabolic diseases. The present study evaluated the potential metabolic and cardiovascular protective effect of Bo, grown under two conditions (standard and biotic stress conditions (BoBS)), in apolipoprotein E-knockout (ApoE−/−) mice fed with high fat diet (HFD). Effects on metabolic/hemodynamic parameters and on atherosclerotic lesions have been assessed. Both Bo and BoBS decreased plasma triglyceride and expression levels of genes implicated in hepatic de novo lipogenesis and lipid oxidation. BoBS supplementation decreased body weight gain, secretion of very-low-density lipoprotein, and increased cecal propionate content. Interestingly, Bo and BoBS supplementation improved hemodynamic parameters by decreasing systolic, diastolic, and mean blood pressure. Moreover, Bo improved cardiac output. Finally, Bo and BoBS substantially reduced the aortic root lesion area. These results showed that Bo and BoBS enriched diets corrected most of the metabolic and cardiovascular disorders in an atherosclerosis-prone genetic mouse model and may therefore represent an interesting nutritional approach for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases.

Heart rate, mean blood pressure, adrenal blood flow, and adrenal plasma adrenaline and noradrenaline were compared before and after ligation of the anterior descending coronary artery in dogs anesthetized with chloralose. One group of 12 dogs responded to acute coronary occlusion with a sudden and marked decrease in mean blood pressure (mean, 31%) and heart rate (mean, 18%) followed by an early onset (mean, 227 sec) of ventricular fibrillation. Another group of nine dogs responded with slight decreases in mean blood pressure (mean, 13%) and heart rate (mean, 5%), during which time ventricular fibrillation occurred late (mean, 30 min) or not at all. While the two groups were statistically different in mean blood pressure and heart rate, the minute output of adrenal catecholamines in either group was not found to be related to the early or late occurrence of ventricular fibrillation.

The study tested the hypothesis that the increase in blood pressure and decrease in cardiac output after nitric oxide (NO) synthase inhibition with N omega-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester (L-NAME) was partially mediated by a neurogenic mechanism. Rats were anesthetized with Inactin (thiobutabarbital), and a control blood pressure was measured for 30 min. Cardiac output and tissue flows were measured with radioactive microspheres. All measurements of pressure and flows were made before and after NO synthase inhibition (20 mg/kg L-NAME) in a group of control animals and in a second group of animals in which the autonomic nervous system was blocked by 20 mg/kg hexamethonium. In this group of animals, an intravenous infusion of norepinephrine (20-140 ng/min) was used to maintain normal blood pressure. L-NAME treatment resulted in a significant increase in mean arterial pressure in both groups. L-NAME treatment decreased cardiac output approximately 50% in both the intact and autonomic blocked animals (P < 0.05). Autonomic blockade alone had no effect on tissue flows. L-NAME treatment caused a significant decrease in renal, hepatic artery, stomach, intestinal, and testicular blood flow in both groups. These results demonstrate that the increase in blood pressure and decreases in cardiac output and tissue flows after L-NAME treatment are not dependent on a neurogenic mechanism.
