Abstract. The aim of the study was to determine the dependence between Test Day (TD) milk productivity traits and somatic cells count (SCC) in milk and also the influence of the factors: farm, parity and TD recording season of Holstein cows. The survey included a total of 484 lactating cows from 8 cattle farms in Bulgaria. A total of 3473 TD records including data on TD milk yield, fat %, protein % and SCC in milk were used. A statistically significant effect of the farm, recording season, and SCC on TD milk yield, fat % and protein % was reported. The highest TD milk yield was reported in spring (22.42 kg), followed by winter (21.95 kg). In winter and autumn were reported higher mean values for TD fat (3.77 and 3.84%) and TD protein (3.38 and 3.40%) content in milk. At the highest SCC – above 999 000 cells/ml, the highest average daily milk yield – 24.1 kg and the lowest fat (3.48%) was reported. With the highest and positive statistically significant value was the phenotypic correlation between TD milk yield and SCC (0.21). The correlation with TD fat % was statistically significant, with negative value (- 0.07).

An On-Farm Trial was conducted on 24 lactating crossbred cows for assessment of feeding formaldehyde treated mustard cake (bypass protein) on milk production and economic analysis of lactating cow. Cows were divided into three groups having 8 cows each, treatments were farmers’ practice (FP); (Control): The lactating animals under this group were fedas per the feeding schedule of the farmers (5 kg. dry roughage as rice straw + 6 hrs grazing as local grass and 4 kg. commercial concentrates), T1: The lactating animals under this group were fed as per farmers practicewith 12% mustard cake of total diet was provided to the cow by replacing the same amount of commercial concentrates andT2: The lactating animals under this group were fed as per farmers practicewith 12% formaldehyde treated mustard cake of total diet was provided to the cow by replacing same amount of commercial concentrates. The average daily milk yield of lactating cows under FP, T1 and T2 was 8.58, 8.82 and 9.85 kg per cow, respectively. Differences between FP and T2 were significant. The daily increase in milk yield was 1.27 kg and 1.03 kg in cows fed T2diet over the cows fed FP and T1diet, respectively. The B: C ratios for FP, T1 and T2 groups were 2.6, 3.0 and 3.3, respectively. The feed cost reduced in T2 group by Rs. 8.64 and increased milk production by 1.27 kg in respect to FP group.

In order to effectively provide the body of cows with energy during the increasing the milk yield without the risk of acidosis, progressive animal breeders of the Altai Territory include wet flattened corn grain in the composition of concentrated feed. The question of the expediency and economic effectiveness of using wet flattened corn grain for cows of various physiological groups – first-calf heifers and mature animals continues to be debatable. Therefore, a comparative assessment of two options for feeding wet flattened corn grain to cows under the conditions of the Altai Territory is considered promising in modern animal husbandry and is of great practical interest. The purpose of the work was to identify the optimal and economically feasible option for using wet flattened corn grain in the rations of lactating cows. When using wet flattened corn grains in an amount of 7,1 % of the nutritional value of the ration the first-calf heifers during the period of increasing the milk yield, productivity has increased by 20,9 %. The average daily milk yield was 17,3 kg, which significantly exceeded the indicator of the control group (P > 0,95). The inclusion of wet flattened corn grains in the ration of mature cows in the amount of 1 kg for 30–35 days before calving, then 4,5 kg from 15 to 75 days after calving allows us to get the average daily milk yield of 30 kg or 20,3 % higher than that of the control group of herdmates (P > 0,95). The effectiveness of the use of wet flattened corn grain had significant indicators: the total profit from the sale of dairy products of the first-calf heifers of the experimental group amounted to 16 251,3 rubles/head, and from the sale of milk of mature cows of the experimental group it was 30 346,43 rubles/head.

The aim of the study was to survey the milking technology and to analyse the associations between milking parlour type, herd size, and milk production parameters on dairy cattle farms. The milking technology was surveyed by using a questionnaire in 417 Hungarian dairy herds with 177,514 cows in 2017, and it was compared with their official farm milk production data. The surveyed farms were categorized according to their size (1-50, 51-300, 301-600, and >600 cows) and to their milking parlour types (herringbone, parallel, carousel, and others). The relationships were analysed by multivariate linear models, one-way ANOVA, and Fisher’s exact test. Pairwise comparisons were performed by Tukey’s post hoc tests. The prevailing type of milking parlour was herringbone (71.0 %), but on larger farms the occurrence of parallel and carousel parlours increased (p<0.001). The number of milking stalls per farm increased with herd size (p<0.001). Farms with herringbone parlour had significantly smaller number of milking stalls than that of parallel (p=0.022) and carousel (p<0.001) parlours, and the cows were mostly milked two times, while in carousel milking parlours mostly three times a day. As the herd size increased, so did daily milk yield (p<0.001) and daily milk production per cow (p<0.001). Herd size was associated with somatic cell count (p<0.001). The type of milking parlour showed significant association with daily milk yield (p=0.039) and dairy units with herringbone milking system had the lowest milk quality. Our findings show that herd size has greater impact on milk production parameters than milking technologies.

The results of the study of milk productivity and lactation rates of fi rst-calf cows are presented. The research into fi rst-calf cows of black-andwhite Holstein breed, belonging to sire lines of Wis Ideal 1013415 and Refl ection Sovereign 198998 was conducted in 2018 in Novosibirsk region. The number of cows under study was 64, the period of the study covered 305 days of lactation. Monitoring of milk production, milk fl ow intensity, fat and protein content was carried out monthly. The research materials were analyzed for groups of cows depending on their sire line and productivity for single and daily milk yield, fat and protein content, and dynamics of milk ejection for the fi rst 3 minutes of milking. The highest daily milk yield in both lines was observed in the second month of lactation. In the fourth and fi fth months of lactation, the average daily milk yield of Refl ection Sovereign cows was signifi cantly higher (р < 0.001) than that of their peers of the Vis Ideal line, by 1.3 kg. During the lactation period, the productivity of the Vis Ideal and Refl ection Sovereign cows was almost the same: milk yield – 8296 and 8220 kg, fat content – 4.02 and 4.06%, protein – 3.36 and 3.35% and milk fl ow intensity – 2.70 and 2.78 kg/min, respectively. In the second and third months of lactation, cows of both lines had a decrease in the content of fat, protein and intensity of milk fl ow with a gradual increase in these indices in the fourth and fi fth months of lactation. First-calf cows of the black-and-white breed of Canadian selection of different sire lines showed a high level of milk productivity and proved to be suitable for further breeding work.

Evaluation of the nutritional value of feed mixtures for lactation periods of the Ayrshire first-calf breed showed that in the first period there is an excess of dry matter and easily digestible protein in the diet, and a lack of sugar in all periods. The consumption of energy and nutrients for the synthesis of 1 kg of milk was optimal. For 305 days of lactation, an average of 7653 kg of milk per cow was obtained after the first calving, and the maximum daily milk yield was recorded in the second month of lactation. The research of lactation curves showed that highly productive cows have a more pronounced peak of milk yield in the first lactation months; the level of milk productivity remains high up to 9-10 months of the lactation period.

Accumulated five years data on 197 kids of 15 Black Bengal bucks in the nucleus breeding flock of Black Bengal goats were analyzed for the study of production traits. The traits considered were birth weight, weight at every 3- month interval up to 12-month, semen characteristics and milk yield. Semen parameters were evaluated from 450 ejaculates of 15 Black Bengal bucks collected twice a week by artificial vagina method and daily milk yield of Black Bengal goats were estimated from the analysis of 57 lactation records of 30 does. The significance of fixed effects sex of kid, parity, litter size, season, age, body weight and scrotal circumferance were analyzed using least-squares analyses of variance of the general linear model (GLM) procedure of the Statistical Analysis System (SAS, 1998). Least-squares means for body weights at birth, 3, 6, 9 and 12-month of age were 1.3, 4.8, 8.0, 11.1 and 14.0 kg, respectively. Body weights at 3, 6, 9 and 12-month of age except at birth were affected by the sex of kids (p<0.05). Type of birth and parity of dam had the significant affect (p<0.05) on birth weight, whereas season of birth had significant (p<0.05) effect on the body weight. The least-squares means of semen volume (ml/ejaculate), sperm concentration (109/ml), mass motility (%), live spermatozoa (%) and normal spermatozoa (%) were 0.5, 2.4, 80.0, 86.5 and 89.3, respectively. Age of bucks had significant (p<0.01) affect on semen volume, sperm concentration. Body weight had a significant (p<0.05) effect on semen volume only. Least-squares mean of daily milk yield was 379.9 lit.. Milk yields was significantly (p<0.01) affected by litter size and season of kidding. It is suggested that nongenetic factors should be adopted as a technique for improving the productive traits. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3329/jbau.v11i1.18217 J. Bangladesh Agril. Research on the study of differentiated feeding of cows was carried out in the conditions of OOO “Krasnoe Sormovo” of Krasnoarmeyskiy district of Chuvash Republic. For the experiment, one control and experimental groups of cows were formed, each containing 150 heads. The control animals remained on the farm ration. The cows of the experimental group were fed with differentiated diets according to their productivity and physiological state. The first experimental group consisted of cows with a daily milk yield of 25 kg and more, the second - from 18 to 25 kg, the third - below 18 kg. The diets of dry cows were also revised: we proposed dividing the drying-off period into two stages: far-off dry period (from 8 to 3 weeks before calving) and close up dry period (from 3 weeks before calving). The principal feature of feeding in the experimental groups was that the rations were balanced directly in terms of crude protein and energy. The share of basic or bulk feed was 50% in the structure of the ration. The amount of concentrated feed was calculated taking into account the eatability of the main feed. Maintaining of balanced feeding was achieved through constant monitoring of the diet for quality parametres of milk, body condition and feces consistency. The research focused on a comparative assessment of milk productivity of cows in the control and experimental groups. Analysis of productive parametres of the cows showed a significant increase of milk yield of experimental animals for 305 days by 472 kg, an increase of daily milk yield by 1.8 kg per head. The results obtained indicate that the application of differentiated feeding of cows is advisable, as it contributes to an increase of their milk productivity. Therefore, we recommend using this strategy in feeding of dairy cows.

Feeding experimental animals with supplements containing selenium in various forms and doses did not have a significant effect on milk productivity and the qualitative composition of milk. However, when using «Sel-Plex», there is a tendency to increase the average daily milk yield in terms of basic fat content by 0.9-4.4 % and an increase in the protein content in milk by 1.2-2.3 % compared to control.

The results of research on the use of the feed additive “Ecostimul-2” and natural zeolite from the Khonguruu deposit in the Suntarsky district of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) in the rations of lactating cows have been presented in the article. The purpose of the work was to study the influence of feed additives “Ecostimul-2” and zeolite on the digestibility of nutrients and nitrogen metabolism in lactating cows of Kholmogorskaya breed under the conditions of Central Yakutia. Chemical analysis of feed, accounting of dairy productivity of cows has been carried out according to generally accepted methods. The cows of the control group have received the main ration. The cows of the experimental groups have been additionally received to the main ration: the 1st experimental feed additive “Ecostimul-2” in the amount of 200 mg/head/day, and the 2nd experimental group – “Ecostimul-2” in the amount of 200 mg/head/day and zeolite 200 g/head/day. The inclusion in the ration of lactating cows of Kholmogorskaya breed under the conditions of Central Yakutia of feed additives “Ecostimul-2” and zeolite of the Suntarsky deposit together has increased the digestibility of feed in the ration and improved the digestibility of nutrients and nitrogen metabolism. It has been found during the experiment that in cows have been receiving the feed additive “Ecostimul-2” and zeolite with the main ration (the 2nd experimental group) the average daily milk yield was 9,06 kg with a fat content of 3,8 % or was by 10,4 % higher than in the control group. In cows that have been received feed additive “Ecostimul-2” (the 1st experimental group) the average daily milk yield was 8,76 kg with the fat content of 3,77 % or was by 6,8 % more than in the control group.

The influence of PVMC on the milk productivity of cows has been studied and the economic efficiency of its application has been calculated. To experiment, taking into account the number of days of lactation, 3 control and 3 experimental groups of 10 animals each were formed. The 1st control and 1st experimental groups included animals at the milking stage (30—60 days of lactation), the 2nd control and 2nd experimental groups — cows in the middle of lactation (150—180 days of lactation), 3 control and 3rd experimental — animals at the end of lactation (240—270 days of lactation). For the cows of the experimental groups, rations were made with PVMC, which was replaced by a proportional amount of concentrated feed and a part of the vitamin and mineral premix. Cows of the 1st experimental group received a diet of PVMC «STATUS VI» in the amount of 1200 g / head/day, the 2nd experimental group — PVMC «STATUS I» at 350 g / head/day, the 3rd experimental group — PVMC «STATUS I» 250 g / head/day. The maximum level of milk productivity according to the results of the experiment was shown by the animals of the 2nd experimental group. The average daily milk yield for 60 days of the experiment was 46.1±1.11 kg, which is more by 4.7 kg of milk or 11.4% (P≤0,05) than in the 2nd control group. During the period of milking, the average daily milk yield for 60 days of the experiment in the 1st control and 1st experimental groups was at the level of 36.4±1.37 kg and 42.4±1.22 kg of milk, respectively. A significant difference (P≤0,01) between them was 6,0 kg of milk or 16.5%. The smallest average daily milk yield throughout the experiment was shown by the animals of the 3rd control (26,4±1,20 kg) and 3rd experimental groups (28.5±1.53 kg). The difference between them was less significant than in animals during the milk period and in the middle of lactation and amounted to 2.1 kg or 8,0%. The use of PVMC in feeding lactating cows gave a pronounced economic effect. Also, the profit received per head per day was: in the 1st experimental group (milking period) — 127.4 rubles; in the 2nd experimental group (mid—lactation) — 117.0 rubles; in the 3rd experimental group (end of lactation) — 33.4 rubles.
