Albert Bandura's social cognitive theory is a theory that connects behaviorist and cognitive learning theory. This theory assumes that people can pay attention to others through observation, reinforcement, and modeling to learn new information and behavior. Based on this principle, the Arabic Language Education study program lecturer at IAIN Palangka Raya started learning maharah kalam by inviting students to review videos as a pilot, to be imitated and practiced. The purpose of this study is to describe the learning process of Mahārah Kalam using social cognitive theory. Using descriptive qualitative methods, research data is generated through the process of observation, interviews and documentation. The results showed that there were four basic activities of learning maharah kalam using social cognitive theory. First, observing the pronunciation of a conversational sentence from a learning video. Second, remembering the pronunciation of the sentence either in the form of vocabulary or the question word used. Third, replicating pronunciation by imitating conversational sentences according to the learning video. Fourth, showing abilities by exploring conversations, as well as the pronunciation learned

The main purpose of this study is to find a clear description of the effectiveness of using the scramble method to improve students’ proficiency in Arabic writing skills. This research is a qualitative study using a class action research method for 4th-semester students of 2016, in the Arabic language Education Study Program, Faculty of Languages and Arts, Universitas Negeri Jakarta, who took Kitābah 1 course. The results of this study indicate that there are changes in the attitudes and behavior of students who study Kitābah 1 with the scramble method before and after applying the method, starting from the pre-research to the first and second cycles. In this second cycle, there is a very significant change compared to before where students are more active in asking questions and discussing with their groups. Because of their activeness, the results obtained were also significant changes. This is proven by the following changes: there are 29 out of 85 students who get “very good” grades, 37 students get “good” grades, and 15 students who have “enough” grades. Meanwhile, only 4 students scored “less”. The lack of value is because the student concerned did not enter the lecture so the value and understanding are lacking in the material that has been submitted.

Reading skills became one of the components in Arabic skills and becamethe main objective in learning Arabic in SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Yogyakarta. Various efforts to realize these objectives have been implemented, such asthe completeness of infrastructure facilities, reading the Koran beforestarting the lesson and the subjects of Arabic language entered in intra and extracurricular. However, the ability to read students in grade IX b school students is not yet fully good. Based on these facts the researcher wanted to know the implementation of learning method of qira'ah student of class IX b SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Yogyakarta with four concepts in AlbertBandura learning theory. The research was conducted using qualitativeapproach. While the type of research is qualitative, is descriptive in learning qira'ah with social cognitive theory Albert Bandura. The analysis used is descriptive analysis. Researchers used a method of collecting data in triangulation that combines various techniques of data collection. While this type of research including field research (field research). The results of this study indicate that the implementation of learning qira'ah in the class using four concepts of learning social cognitive theory Albert Bandura include attention, retention, production and motivation. Application of the concept has an impact on the smoothness of learning qira'ah.

Obesity, as a result of including the chronic positive energy balance, is associated with many chronic diseases. Prevalence of obesity is increasing worldwide, including in selected developing countries, from previous very low status. Association or causality of one or more constructs of social cognitive theory to prevent and control obesity is paramount for program interventions. We searched titles and abstracts using End Note Software and then approached original articles in databases of PubMed, Google Scholar and Health Inter-Network Access to Research Initiative (HINARI) in English language published between Jan 1, 2000 and Jan 10, 2015. The articles included only when one or more of the constructs of social cognitive theory viz. reciprocal determinism, behavioral capability, observational learning, reinforcements, expectations and self-efficacy were examined quantitatively with obesity or overweight. The data from the articles were then summarized and interpreted. Out of 90 accessed and reviewed full-text articles, 22 included in the review, mostly of which studies were conducted in developing countries. The review results showed that intervening the constructs of social cognitive theory was found effective in preventing obesities including childhood obesities. In studies where media campaign was added with social cognitive theory, logistic regression results demonstrated that behavior change was greater among women. Self-efficacy and social support are the important constructs of social cognitive/learning theory to be effective and associated in obesity prevention, others remaining modest. It is suggested that the constructs are integrated with media campaign and ecological components when intervened. Key words: Social, cognitive, obesity, overweight, behaviour, self-efficacy, physical.

This research aims to obtain infomation about Arabic learning especially speaking skill in Arabic Language Education Department at IAIN Batusangkar. The research uses a quantitative approach. The instruments to collect the data are test and questionnaire. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results of the research state that the students’ speaking ability at class “ A “ are 28% low, 36% moderate, and 36% high. While, at class “B”, students’ speaking abilities are 36.4% low, 40,9% moderate, and 22.7% high. The cause of students’ low ability is the unappropriateness of teachers’ strategy in teaching speaking. There are about 96% students at class “A” agreed and 86.4% students at class “B” had similar answer. Another cause is students’ low motivation in learning. Class “A” students agreed for about 76% of them and 77% of class “B” students answered the same. From the finding, it can be concluded that the inability of students to speak Arabic can be overcomed by improving teaching strategies and encouraging maximum motivation  to learn Arabic.

Social cognitive theory is a theory of human behavior that emphasizes learning from the social environment. This chapter focuses on Bandura’s social cognitive theory, which postulates reciprocal interactions among personal, behavioral, and social/environmental factors. Persons use various vicarious, symbolic, and self-regulatory processes as they strive to develop a sense of agency in their lives. Key motivational processes are goals and self-evaluations of progress, outcome expectations, values, social comparisons, and self-efficacy. People set goals and evaluate their goal progress. The perception of progress sustains self-efficacy and motivation. Individuals act in accordance with their values and strive for outcomes they desire. Social comparisons with others provide further information on their learning and goal attainment. Self-efficacy is a critical influence on motivation and affects task choices, effort, persistence, and achievement. Recommendations are made for future research.
