Penambahan vitamin E sintetis pada pakan induk sangat penting, karena vitamin E tidak dapat disintesis oleh ikan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui penambahan vitamin E dalam pakan terhadap kualitas reproduksi induk ikan nila. Penelitian dilakukan di Balai Riset Pemuliaan Ikan (BRPI) Sukamandi selama tiga bulan. Pakan uji adalah pakan formulasi berkadar protein kasar 35,83%-36,13%; lemak kasar 8,17%-9,79%; BETN 43,10%-45,72%; dan serat kasar 1,98%-2,58% dengan penambahan vitamin E berbeda, yaitu: A) 0 (kontrol), B) 150, C) 225, dan D) 300 mg/kg pakan. Ikan uji berumur 6,5 bulan sebanyak 80 ekor betina dan 40 ekor jantan, dan setiap induk ikan betina diberi tanda (tagging). Wadah ikan uji adalah jaring hapa berukuran 3 m x 2 m x 1,25 m sebanyak empat buah yang ditempatkan di kolam tanah seluas 6.000 m2 dengan ketinggian air ± 1 m. Setiap jaring diisi 20 ekor induk betina dan 10 ekor induk jantan. Parameter yang diamati adalah: gonad somatik indeks, frekuensi pemijahan, fekunditas, diameter telur, derajat tetas telur, produksi larva, abnormalitas larva, dan gonad pada akhir percobaan. Sampling dilakukan setiap satu minggu sekali selama tiga bulan pemeliharaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan vitamin E 225 mg/kg pakan memberikan hasil terbaik, dapat meningkatkan produksi larva sebesar 78,55% dibanding dengan tanpa penambahan vitamin E (kontrol). Jumlah induk memijah sebesar 85% dengan jumlah frekuensi pemijahan terbanyak yaitu 28 kali dan total produksi larva tertinggi yaitu 37.927 ekor (produktivitas induk 2.231 larva/ekor) dan rataan fekunditas individu sebesar 1.886 ± 513 butir.The addition of synthetic vitamin E in broodstock feed is a necessity due to fish inability to synthesized vitamin E. Currently, there is limited information on vitamin E requirement to boost the reproductive performance of tilapia. The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of vitamin E in feed on the reproductive performance of tilapia broodstock. The study was conducted for three months at the Sukamandi Fish Breeding Research Center. The test feeds were formulated feeds with crude protein content of 35.83%-36.13%, crude fat 8.17%-9.79%, NFE 43.10%-45.72%, and crude fiber of 1.98%-2.58% with the addition of different vitamin E, namely: A) 0 (control), B) 150, C) 225, and D) 300 mg/kg of feed. The test fish were aged 6.5 months consisted of 80 females and 40 males, where each female was given a unique tagging code. The fish were reared in four hapa nets sized 3 m x 2 m x 1.25 m which were constructed in a pond of 6,000 m2 with a water level of ± 1 m. Each hapa net contained 20 female and ten male broodstocks. The parameters observed were: gonadal somatic index, spawning frequency, fecundity, egg diameter, hatching rate, larval production, larval abnormalities, and gonadal development at the end of the experiment. Sampling was done once a week during the three months of the experiment. The results showed that the addition of vitamin E 225 mg/kg of feed gave the best results. Larval production increased by 78.55% compared to without the addition of vitamin E (control). The percentage of spawning broodstock was 85% with the highest number of spawning frequencies of 28 times, the highest total larvae production of 37,927 larvae (broodstock productivity 2,231 larvae/fish), and the average individual fecundity of 1,886 ± 513 eggs.

Background: Hemibagrus wyckii Bagridae is one of the most important economic fish species that lives in the rivers and reservoir in Riau Province, Indonesia. The present study aimed to determine the reproductive performance of H.wyckii under culture conditions. Methods: A total of 10 female and 10 male fish were selected, and weight, length, characteristics of egg and sperm, and hatchery performance were measured. Eggs were fertilized using the dry method. Egg weight and egg diameters were measured for 50 eggs per female. Egg size (50 eggs for each fish) was measured using an Olympus microscope (CX40). Then, saline solution was added over the eggs, followed by the addition of pooled sperm from 10 males. Results: Average relative fecundity, egg weight and egg diameter were 2060±512 eggs/kg fish, 29.86±1.21 mg and 2.67±0.26 mm, respectively. The fertilization rate and hatching rate were 60.91±4.68% and 42.91±2.92% respectively. Sperm characteristics such as volume per fish (mL), pH, concentration (per mL), motility (%) and duration of motility (second) were 0.82±0.20, 7.15±0.12, 3.68±0.15, 72.77±1.46 and 47.5±4.84, respectively. Conclusion: The study results and scientific observations regarding reproductive performance suggest that H. wyckii can be considered a new candidate species for aquaculture.

<p>This experiment was conducted to determine the dietary Vitamin E requirement for reproduction of broodstock zebrafish Danio rerio.  Four isonitrogenous (39% crude protein) and isocaloric (3,260 kcal digestible energy/kg diet) practical diets, namely diets A, B, C, and D with different levels of Vitamin E were fed to zebrafish broodstock.  The broodstock were cultivated in aquaria.  Diet A contained low dosage of Vitamin E (5 mg Vitamin E /kg diet), while diets B (62 mg Vitamin E /kg diet), C (125 mg Vitamin E /kg diet), and diet D (187 mg Vitamin E /kg diet), combined respectively with 1% n-3 fatty acids and 2% n-6 fatty acids.  Fish were fed ad satiation for 60 days using these diets.  During feeding period, gonad maturation stages were examined.  The dietary with different level of Vitamin E affected egg size, chemical content, total number of larvae, normal larvae, and survival rate of larvae produced, fecundity, fertilization rate, and hatching rate.  On the other hand, fish fed on experimental diets did not show any significance differences in the gonad somatic index, fecundity, fertilization rate, and hatching rate.  Fish fed on diet D produced the highest fecundity (633.65 ± 71.86 eggs/grams of fish), fertilization rate (92.3 ± 7.7%), and hatching rate (80.31 ± 9.8%).  The total lipid content of eggs were significant, ranging from D (39.7%), C (33.5%), B (32.1%), and A (29.5%).  At a dosage of 1% of dietary n-3 fatty acids and 2% n-6 fatty acids, zebrafish require 187 mg Vitamin E/kg feed in the diet for reproduction.  .</p> <p>Keywords:  vitamin E, reproductive performance, Danio rerio</p> <p> </p> <p>ABSTRAK</p> <p>Penelitian ini ditujukan untuk mengetahui kebutuhan Vitamin E pada pakan induk ikan zebra (Danio rerio) untuk reproduksi.  Empat pakan perlakuan yang iso-protein (39%) dan iso-kalori (3.260 kcal digestible energy/kg pakan), dinamakan pakan A, B, C, dan pakan D dengan kandungan Vitamin E yang berbeda diberikan kepada induk ikan zebra.  Induk ikan dipelihara pada akuarium.  Pakan A mengandung Vitamin E terendah (5 mg Vitamin E/kg pakan), sedangkan pakan B mengandung Vitamin E 62 mg Vitamin E/kg pakan, pakan C asam mengandung Vitamin E 125 mg /kg pakan, dan pakan D mengandung Vitamin E 187 mg /kg pakan.  Semua pakan perlakuan mempunyai kombinasi asam lemak n-3 berbanding n-6 sebesar 1:2.  Ikan diberi pakan secara ad satiation selama 60 hari pemeliharaan.  Selama masa pemberian pakan, tingkat kematangan gonad diperiksa secara teratur.  Perbedaan kandungan vitamin E dalam pakan mempengaruhi fekunditas, derajat pembuahan telur, serta derajat penetasan telur.  Pakan perlakuan tidak mempengaruhi nilai gonad somatik indeks dan kelangsungan hidup larva umur 3 hari.  Pemberian pakan D menghasilkan fekunditas (633.65 ± 71.86  telur/gram induk), derajat pembuahan telur (92.3 ± 7.7%), serta derajat penetasan telur (80.31 ± 9,8%) terbaik.  Total kandungan lemak pada telur berbeda nyata, yaitu pada pakan D (39.7%), C(33.5%), B(32.1%), dan pakan A(29.5%).  Pada kandungan 1% asam lemak n-3 dan 2% asam lemak n-6, ikan zebra membutuhkan 187 mg Vitamin E/kg pakan untuk reproduksi yang normal. </p> <p>Kata kunci:  Vitamin E, penampilan reproduksi, Danio rerio</p>

This study was designed to evaluate the effects of astaxanthin in broodfish diets on reproductive performance, egg quality and larvae quality parameters of clownfish (Amphirion ocellaris). Five treatments were tested with 5 levels of astaxanthin (Carophyll Pink 10% CWS) of 0, 50, 100, 150 and 200 mg/kg added to the feed. Each treatment was repeated in triplicate and the supplemental feeding trials were arranged for 13 months. The results showed that there were significant differences in hatching rate of egg, malformed rate and survival rate of larvae in 3 days post-hatch (p<0.05) among the feeding trials of astaxanthin supplements. The highest hatching rate of egg and survival rate and the lowest malformed rate of larvae were observed in the treatment that was supplemented with astaxanthin 150 mg/kg feed, respectively 92.14 %; 93.57 % and 0.55 %. However, the astaxanthin supplementary diets did not affect the re-maturation and spawning period, spawning frequency, fecundity, egg diameter and larval size of nemo fish among the treatments. The results also suggested that astaxanthin requirement for clownfish broodstock to improve reproductive performance was 150 mg/kg feed.

AbstractLight is a major environmental factors that synchronize all life-stages of fish, from body growth to sexual maturation. The objective of this research is to enhance the growth and reproductive performance in the test fish, red eyed orange molly (Poecilia sphenops) exposed to standardized manipulated photoperiod. In present study, growth and gonadal development of the test fish with an average initial weight (0.52g) and an average total length (3.2cm) exposed to two photoperiods (18L:6D and 10L:14D) at constant light intensity (1500 lx) for a period of 60 days was investigated. The fish were fed with formulated feed twice a day as per 10% of body weight. During a long day photoperiod (18L:6D) significant increase in growth parameters such as, weight gain (2.2 ± 0.04), feed conversion ratio (8.9 ± 0.004) and specific growth rate (1.2 ± 0% day-1) was observed. Mean gonadosomatic index (GSI) in female (30.4± 0.11) and male fish (2.0 ± 0.17) was also significantly higher in long-day photoperiod followed by short day photoperiod (10L:14D). The results confirm that manipulated long-day photoperiod induced somatic growth and enhanced gonadal development in P. sphenops without causing any stress.SummaryThis work is novel to research field since photoperiodic effect on Poecilia sphenops, a live-bearer fish under artificial environmental conditions resulted in enhanced growth and reproductive performance with fry production.

ABSTRACT The intensification of catfish culture requires a regular and sustainable good seeds quality. Microbial-based aquaculture with probiotic application is expected to improve the reproductive performance of catfish. The aim of this study was to evaluate the reproductive performance of catfish given probiotics Bacillus sp. NP5 with different concentrations through feed. This study used a Completely Randomized Block Design (CRBD) with the administration of probiotic Bacillus sp. NP5 at 2% concentration of 108 CFU/mL and 1010 CFU/mL in feed given and control (without probiotics), then repeated four times. Catfish broodstocks with an average size of 955 ± 261.27 g were kept in a net sized 1 m×1 m×1 m with seven broodstocks per net. Parameters observed included the Gonadosomatic Index (GSI), fecundity, number of matured eggs, frequency distribution of egg diameter, fertilization rate, and hatching rate. The result showed that the GSI value of female catfish broodstock was significantly different in sixth week as the highest value was obtained from 1010 CFU/mL probiotics with 5.19%. Moreover, the fecundity of all treatments showed significantly different results (P<0.05) as the highest value was on the concentration of 1010 CFU/mL Bacillus sp. NP5 with 137,123 ± 32,635 eggs/broodstock. This study concludes that the administration of probiotics Bacillus sp. NP5 with 1010 CFU/mL in feed given to catfish broodstock increases the fecundity (137,123 eggs/broodstock), GSI (5.19%), number of matured eggs percentage (64.50%), and hatching rate (82.53%).  Keywords: Bacillus sp. NP5, catfish, reproductive performance   ABSTRAK   Intensifikasi budidaya ikan lele menuntut penyediaan benih yang berkualitas secara teratur dan berkelanjutan. Budidaya berbasis mikroba diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kinerja reproduksi ikan lele. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengevaluasi performa reproduksi ikan lele yang diberi probiotik Bacillus sp. NP5 dengan konsentrasi berbeda melalui pakan. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok lengkap (RAKL) dengan pemberian probiotik Bacillus sp. NP5 pada konsentrasi 108 CFU/mL dan 1010 CFU/mL sebanyak 2% dari pakan yang diberikan serta kontrol (tanpa pemberian probiotik), masing-masing dengan empat ulangan. Induk ikan lele dengan ukuran 955 ± 261.27 g dipelihara pada jaring hapa ukuran 1 m × 1 m × 1 m sebanyak tujuh ekor per jaring hapa. Parameter yang diamati meliputi indeks kematangan gonad (IKG), fekunditas, jumlah telur matang, sebaran frekuensi diameter telur, derajat pembuahan, dan derajat penetasan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai IKG induk betina ikan lele berbeda nyata pada minggu keenam dengan nilai tertinggi diperoleh pada perlakuan probiotik 1010 CFU/mL yaitu sebesar 5.19%. Selain itu, fekunditas semua perlakuan menunjukkan hasil yang berbeda nyata (P<0.05) dengan nilai tertinggi pada perlakuan pemberian probiotik Bacillus sp. NP5 dengan konsentrasi 1010 CFU/mL sebesar 137,123 ± 32,635 telur/induk. Kesimpulan, pemberian probiotik Bacillus sp. NP5 dengan konsentrasi 1010 CFU/mL melalui pakan kepada induk ikan lele mampu meningkatkan nilai fekunditas 137,123 telur/induk, GSI 5,19%, persentase jumlah telur matang 64,50% dan derajat penetasan telur 82,53%.   Kata kunci: Bacillus sp., ikan lele, performa reproduksi

<p>This experiment was conducted to determine the optimum n-3 fatty acid level in the diet containing 2 % of n-6 fatty acid on the reproductive performance of zebra fish (<em>Danio rerio</em>). There experimental diets containing 0.0; 1.0; 1.5 % n-3 fatty acid with 2.0 % n-6 fatty acid was fed to the fish, three times daily, at satiation, for two months. In order to evaluate the gonadal development of the broodstock, two gonads og fish was used for histologis preparation in every 7 days. At the end of the second month, reproductive performance was evaluated through parameters of gonad somato indeks, fecundity, fertilization rate, hatching rate, yolk egg absorbtion rate, survival rate of 3 days old larvae. Sample of fish also was taken for proximate composition as the end of this experiment. Results shows that at the fifth weeks of this experiment, gonad of fish fed on 1.0 % of n-3 fatty acid and 2.0 % n-6 fatty acid already produce eggs with the some size, while others. Still produce small size of eggs. It was found also that the whole body of fish fed an diet with 1.0% n-3 fatty acid contain the highest protein level compare to two other diets. Based on the evaluation of reproduction performance parameters, it was concluded that the optimum dietary level of n-3 fatty acid with 2.0 % n-6 fatty acid for <em>Danio rerio</em> was 0.81 - 0.90 %.</p> <p><em>Keywords</em>: essential fatty, acids, reproduction, zebra fish, <em>Danio rerio</em></p> <p> </p> <p>ABSTRAK</p> <p>Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan kadar asam lemak n-3 optimum dalam pakan yang mempunyai kadar asam lemak n-6 tetap. Tiga macam pakan dengan kadar asam lemak n-3 berbeda yaitu 0.0; 1.0; dan 2.0 % diberikan pada ikan dengan bobot rata-rata 0.12 g. Pakan diberikan secara at satiation, 4 kali sehari selama 60 hari. Setiap 7 hari sekali diambil sampel ikan untuk pembentukan preparat histologi gonad dengan tujuan untuk mengevaluasi perkembangan gonad. Pada akhir penelitian, induk dipijahkan dan dievaluasi performan reproduksi berdasarkan parameter. Gonad Somato Indeks, fekunditas, derajat pembuahan, derajat penetasan dan kelangsungan hidup larva berumur 3 hari. Sampel tubuh ikan diakhir penelitian juga dievaluasi komposisi proksimatnya. Hasil penelitian ini memperlihatkan bahwa pada minggu ke-5 setelah pemberian pakan, gonad dari ikan yang diberi pakan asam lemak n-3 1.0 % mengandung telur-telur dengan ukuran yang seragam sedangkan ukuran telur ke dua perlakuan lainnya masih bervariasi. Kadar protein tertinggi juga terdapat pada tubuh ikan yang diberi pakan 1.0 % asam lemak n-3. Berdasarkan parameter performan reproduksi secara keseluruhan dapat disimpulkan bahwa kadar asam lemak n-3 optimum dalam pakan ikan zebra, <em>Danio rerio</em> adalah 0.81 - 0.90 %.</p> <p>Kata kunci: asam lemak, reproduksi, ikan zebra, <em>Danio  rerio</em></p>

This research consisted of four treatments with three replications. The use of vitamin E doses was 0, 125, 250, and 375 mg/kg. The vitamin E was dissolved in vegetable oil and mixed with albumen as a binder in feed. The vitamin E was sprayed at feed and was air dried. Female broodstock of the fantail goldfishes were reared for 40 days. The result showed that 375 mg/kg treatment performed the highest quality of reproduction. Egg diameter, gonadosomatic index, fecundity, and germinal vesicle breakdown of fish which are treated by 375 mg/kg vitamin E were respectively 0.92±0.05 mm, 8.86±4.62%, 56.00±29.18%, and 67.35±17.67% higher than control. Induk betina ikan komet pascasalin dengan bobot 72,78±19,47 g diberi perlakuan selama 40 hari. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa induk betina ikan komet yang diberi suplementasi vitamin E sebanyak 375 mg/kg dalam pakan memiliki diameter telur 0,92±0,05 mm, <em>gonadosomatic index</em> 8,86±4,62%, fekunditas 56,00±29,18 butir/g ikan, dan <em>germinal vesicle breakdown</em> 67,35±17,67% yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan kontrol. <p>This experiment was conducted to determine the optimum dietary level of n-6 and n-3 fatty acids on reproduction performance of green catfish. Four experimental diets with different level of n-6 and n-3 fatty acid (diet A: 0.77% n-6 fatty acid, 0.07% n-3 fatty acid; diet B: 1.56%,0.10 %; diet C: 1.74%, 0.13 % and diet D: 2%, 0.28%) were used in this experiment during seven month. Diets given twice every day in the morning and evening. The 28 broodstock used in this research with density every waring seven broodstock. Samples of eggs were analyzed for fatty acid composition. The diameter of eggs, fecundity, hatching rate of the eggs, survival rate and percentage of abnormal larvae were determined. Results showed that different dietary level of n-6 and n-3 fatty acids of the broodstock significantly affect the reproductive performance especially fecundity and hatching rate of eggs. The maximum fecundity, egg diameter, and hatching rate were produced broodstock fed on 1.56% n-6 fatty acid and 0.10 % n-3 fatty acid in diet by at the level of 12.29% lipid.</p> <p>Keywords : n-6 and n-3 fatty acids, reproduction performance, green catfish, <em>Hemibagrus nemurus</em>.</p> <p> </p> <p>Abstrak</p> <p>Penelitian ini dilakukan pada berbagai level asam lemak n-6 dan n-3 dalam pakan untuk melihat pengaruhnya terhadap penampilan reproduksi dari ikan baung. Penelitian dilaksanakan selama 7 bulan.  Empat jenis pakan  digunakan dalam percobaan ini dengan perbedaan kandungan asam lemak n-6 dan n-3 (pakan A: 0,77% asam lemak n-6, 0,56% asam lemak n-3; pakan B: 1,56%, 0,78%; pakan C: 1,74%, 1,00% and pakan D: 2,03%, 1,82%). Dalam penelitian ini 28 ekor induk digunakan dan ditebarkan kedalam waring dengan kepadatan 7 ekor tiap waring. Pakan diberikan pagi dan sore hari secara <em>at satiation</em>.  Sampel telur dan larva dianalisa komposisi asam lemak. Penampilan reproduksi yang diamati adalah diameter telur, fekunditas, derajat penetasan telur, derajat kelangsungan hidup larva dan persentase larva abnormal. Hasil penilitian menunjukan bahwa perbedaan kandungan asam lemak n-6 dan n-3 dalam pakan berpengaruh pada komposisi asam lemak n-6 dan n-3 telur dan juga memberikan pengaruh yang berbeda nyata terhadap penampilan reproduksinya khusus pada fekunditas dan derajat penetasan telur. Lama waktu matang yang dicapai oleh tiap induk relatif sama antar perlakuan.  Fekunditas, diameter telur, derajat penetasan telur dan derajat kelangsungan hidup larva tertinggi diperoleh pada induk yang memperoleh pakan yang mengandung 1,56% asam lemak n-6 dan 0,78% asam lemak n-3.</p> <p>Kata kunci:  Asam lemak n-6 and n-3, penampilan reproduksi, ikan baung, <em>Hemibagrus nemurus.</em></p>
