For more than 30 years, the Erasmus programme has given thousands of higher education students throughout Europe the chance to live and study abroad. For many, this sojourn in a foreign country is an extraordinary learning experience which enriches their language and (inter)cultural learning process. However, for others, this opportunity is undermined by cultural shock or lack of preparation...

The present study is framed by the project of educational innovation "Cross-cutting education for solidarity in the training of psychologists and educators" (PIE 10-127; 2010-2012). The aim of this study is presenting the structure of this research and it shows an analysis of values and attitudes in a sample of university students as well as to provide an assessment of the impact and satisfaction that they had reported in specific educational activities in favour of solidarity. Participants were 945 University Students, aged between 18 and 57 years. The results demonstrate that most students participating in the study highly agree to consider situations reflected in items 1, 4 and 7, as stealing, violent behaviour or trying to avoid a conflict. The majority of the participating students does not collaborate with any NGOs; they mention the lack of time, the issue not being raised as well as not being involved in any solidarity activity noting as reasons: lack of information, idleness, not having the opportunity presented and not having the funds to do so. In addition, students have found these educational activities for solidarity very satisfactory. Key words: basic competence, European space of higher education, solidarity-based teaching, university students, values and attitudes.

The article presents theoretical and practical aspects of forming motivation to study a foreign language for students of non-philological specialties. The essential characteristics of the concept of «motivation» are substantiated. The leading motives of students to study English are outlined. It is concluded that the structure of motives of future professionals is dominated by internal motivation, meaningfully related to educational activities. The results of the study confirm that the solution of educational problems by students independently activates their educational activities and strengthens the motivational sphere. It is proved that the use of play activities in the learning process simplifies the process of learning and motivates to learn the language. Additionally, precisely selected and regulated content of the discipline with a constant lively pace of learning a foreign language motivates students to succeed. In addition, the personal interest of the teacher in the progress of students adds to the latter’s desire to learn. It is concluded that modern research of scientists and employees of higher education related to the researched problem involves the search for new ideas, motivations, motives that increase the effectiveness of learning motivation as a major component of mastering a foreign language by students of non-language specialties.

The satisfaction of university students with the variables that regulate their learning provides very valuable information to improve the quality of teaching processes. The main objective of this study was to evaluate the learning of Brazilian university students, exploring both self-regulation variables, such as study techniques; and more external regulation variables, namely, satisfaction with the teaching–learning process and with the infrastructure, based on three variables: gender, the institution of higher education and the academic year of the students. To achieve this, 560 students of the Pedagogy degree were evaluated with two questionnaires: a questionnaire of satisfaction with the educational infrastructure and the teaching–learning process and a questionnaire on study techniques. Statistically significant differences were obtained, especially depending on the type of institution and the academic year. The students of private schools and earlier academic years were the ones who obtained the most satisfaction with the study techniques and with the infrastructure. Those from private centers also expressed more satisfaction with the teaching–learning processes. These results provide greater knowledge about the processes of self-regulation and external regulation of university learning and of their satisfaction with them, which can contribute to improving educational policies in Brazil.

The article examines the general picture of the use of their time fund by university students, its structuring, as well as the dynamics of time indicators related to the main spheres of students' daily activities in 2002–20. Particular attention is paid to educational activities as status-forming for full-time students. A survey of university students in Moscow, Omsk and Pskov was conducted in March 2019 – January 2020 by the sector for studying the daily activities and time budget of the ISRAS within the framework of the monitoring complex research "Daily activities of the urban population: time budget, values, social adaptation." The real behaviorur of students was analyzed in combination with the analysis of motivation to obtain higher education, adaptive opportunities for participation in educational activities and the success of professional socialization of students. It was revealed that the dominant motive for obtaining higher education - “the need to have a higher education diploma in order to get a good job” - not only retained (over the period 2002–20) its dominance and a significant “gap” from the significance of other motives, but its importance even rose. In general, the configuration of educational motivation has not changed much. Changes in resource time possibilities least of all affected the segment of daily activities related to the total work load (study time, paid work, unpaid work). The study time of students decreased more significantly for women (much less for men). The amount of time spent on physical recovery of students has decreased, but the space for studying in their free time has significantly expanded. It is shown that the types of students' value orientation in relation to educational activities have a connection with the volume, structure of educational time and other indicators. Indicators of adaptive capabilities of students for the implementation of educational activities are associated with the degree of preparedness of students to study at the university. It was revealed that the time spent on all educational activities and its structure in 2019–20 differs by the worst characteristics both in comparison with 1920 and in comparison, with other periods (the period of 1920–2020 was considered in dynamics).

In the current national and international context, the education “hosted” in the online environment, which was once only a secondary solution, rarely used, has become the main way to ensure the continuity of the learning process. In this study, we aimed to capture the reactions of those who were the first to experiment an exclusively online, learning process, i.e. the reactions of the students. We used an investigative approach focused on the following objectives: identifying the perception of students/learners regarding the efficiency and quality of the educational process carried out in the online environment and highlighting ways to improve teaching activities conducted online. The main research method was the questionnaire-based survey. The questionnaire was administered online, integrating a series of items that addressed issues such as: students’ participation in educational activities, problems encountered, solutions to optimize the didactic process conducted in the online environment. Following the investigative approach, the main conclusions are the following: most of the surveyed students consider that the educational activities carried out in the online environment do not have the same efficiency as the direct activities (face to face); the main problems highlighted by the respondents were: overload, fatigue, demotivation, learning difficulties in understanding and operating with certain content, poor Internet connection, but also the lack of necessary indications to facilitate learning. We appreciate that the results of our study may be relevant for practitioners in the field of education, especially for those from higher education, but also for all those interested in digital education.

Abstract. In the current study, we examined the viability of a multidimensional conception of perceived person-environment (P-E) fit in higher education. We introduce an optimized 12-item measure that distinguishes between four content dimensions of perceived P-E fit: interest-contents (I-C) fit, needs-supplies (N-S) fit, demands-abilities (D-A) fit, and values-culture (V-C) fit. The central aim of our study was to examine whether the relationships between different P-E fit dimensions and educational outcomes can be accounted for by a higher-order factor that captures the shared features of the four fit dimensions. Relying on a large sample of university students in Germany, we found that students distinguish between the proposed fit dimensions. The respective first-order factors shared a substantial proportion of variance and conformed to a higher-order factor model. Using a newly developed factor extension procedure, we found that the relationships between the first-order factors and most outcomes were not fully accounted for by the higher-order factor. Rather, with the exception of V-C fit, all specific P-E fit factors that represent the first-order factors’ unique variance showed reliable and theoretically plausible relationships with different outcomes. These findings support the viability of a multidimensional conceptualization of P-E fit and the validity of our adapted instrument.

Islamic higher college not only limited to higher education that famous at Islamic history like madrasah (e.g. Nizamiyah), and al-Jami’ah (e.g. al-Azhar). Yet, Islamic higher college is the implementation of learning process that can be categorized in higher education stage, that being practiced in Moslem society, even still in non-formal or informal form before madrasah existence. Several epistemologies branch indeed take place at formal institution, while some epistemologies branch theoretically applied at formal institution, but it’s practiced at non-formal institutions. These non-formal institutions were still reflecting Islamic higher education level.
