The satisfaction of university students with the variables that regulate their learning provides very valuable information to improve the quality of teaching processes. The main objective of this study was to evaluate the learning of Brazilian university students, exploring both self-regulation variables, such as study techniques; and more external regulation variables, namely, satisfaction with the teaching–learning process and with the infrastructure, based on three variables: gender, the institution of higher education and the academic year of the students. To achieve this, 560 students of the Pedagogy degree were evaluated with two questionnaires: a questionnaire of satisfaction with the educational infrastructure and the teaching–learning process and a questionnaire on study techniques. Statistically significant differences were obtained, especially depending on the type of institution and the academic year. The students of private schools and earlier academic years were the ones who obtained the most satisfaction with the study techniques and with the infrastructure. Those from private centers also expressed more satisfaction with the teaching–learning processes. These results provide greater knowledge about the processes of self-regulation and external regulation of university learning and of their satisfaction with them, which can contribute to improving educational policies in Brazil.

The the need for greater participation and motivation of university students in the teaching-learning process has led to the concept of project-based learning. By using this methodology, the student works individually and in groups independently, but under the guidance of the teacher. Furthermore, this methodology allows the acquisition of transversal skills with a high level of mastery in subjects of the last year of undergraduate and master degrees. The objective of this work is the design and application of the project-based learning methodology in the subjects of Bioelectronics and Modeling and simulation of bioelectric systems that is capable of integrating the transversal competences "Design and project" (CT05), "Effective communication ”(CT08),“Understanding and integration ”(CT01),“ Analysis and problem solving ”(CT03),“Innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship ”(CT04) and“ Critical thinking ”(CT09), with high levels of mastery. This methodology has been applied throughout the 2019-2020 academic year in these subjects belonging to the Degree in Industrial Electronic and Automatic Engineering and the Master of Biomedical Engineering, respectively, from the Universitat Politècnica de València. The assessment of the students has been very positive and the acquisition of transversal skills has been very satisfactory.

In recent years, gamification - the use of games and game design techniques in non-game contexts- has established itself as an innovative methodology that improves educational quality in Higher Education. Education is an area of great potential for the application of gamification. Depending on the educational level, the teacher must establish a specific moment to apply it within the teaching-learning process and also choose a type of tool to design and develop in the classroom. This study offers a gamification experience based on breakout for the teaching of Administrative Law in the Degree in Law, and applied on the first day of class, with a triple purpose: to promote interaction between students, to measure the degree of knowledge about the content and skills acquired in the last academic year and motivate students by making the teaching of this subject more attractive.

Indonesian Ministry of Education decree number 36 (2001) outlines that coursebook (buku ajar) is a handbook for a course written by experts in related fields. It is written to obtain the qualifications and features of textbooks and to finally be published and distributed. In an attempt to implement the decree, the objective of this research was to develop vocabulary coursebook for the higher education students of English education program. In fact, there is no vocabulary book that meets students’ needs and qualifications of the coursebook (buku ajar). This research was a Research and Development (R&D) study with an industry-based development model. The subjects of the research were all active students at English education program of STKIP PGRI Trenggalek in 2017/18 and 2018/19 academic year. Data were collected using questionnaires and observation. The data collected by questionnaires were analyzed quantitatively and the data collected through observation was analyzed qualitatively. Research findings proved that the product was successful to obtain the vocabulary coursebook for the higher education students of English education program since it met the government qualification of coursebook standards and features, accommodated the students’ needs and interests, provided recent theories of vocabulary learning, acquired the learning outcome of vocabulary study area as stated in syllabus, and was systematically developed in five steps development. More importantly as the result of the field-test of the product indicated supportive responses from teacher and students teaching-learning vocabulary in English education program.

This paper looks at how undergraduates look at assessment in Higher Education. It focuses on their views about assessment practices in five Portuguese public universities. The main purpose is to look at the students’ perceptions of assessment in higher education taking into account the assessment methods used, the influence of assessment in their motivation to learn as well as self-regulation of the learning process. Data were collected through questionnaires in five Portuguese Public Universities in different fields of knowledge. An intervention project focused on Assessment for Learning (AfL), with students enrolled at an Engineering programme, in one public university in Portugal, in one course with student-centred methodologies and AfL practices was also carried out and evaluated. Findings are presented according the categories emerging from the data. Issues of assessment methods, the connection between teaching, learning and assessment as well as the impact of AfL environments on students’ perceptions are analysed. Implications of the findings for assessment, teaching and learning process are discussed.

In higher education it is important to consider learning styles of students to facilitate the teaching–learning process. The aims guiding the research were to describe the learning styles predominating among students in the field of the social sciences, to analyse the results with respect to gender, year of study, degree course and institution, and to perform correlation analysis between these variables. The data analyses were carried out with non-parametric statistics with a confidence level of 95%. The sample was composed of 636 students at the Universities of Huelva (UHU), Cádiz (UCA), and Pablo de Olavide of Seville (UPO), who completed the Honey–Alonso Learning Styles Questionnaire and reported sociodemographic and educational data. The results showed a significant preference for the Reflector style. Significant correlations were found in most variables highlighting that the courses showed an inverse correlation with the learning styles, the Activist, Theorist, and Pragmatist styles being less preferred as they progressed in the career. It is worth noting the significant direct correlation between Reflector, Theorist, and Pragmatist styles, but the Activist style inversely correlates with all three. As a complementary contribution, a proposal for intervention in classrooms with a sustainable perspective is offered. It is important to attend to the evolution in the preference of the learning styles that students acquire as they advance in higher education courses in order to facilitate a more optimal and sustainable teaching–learning process.

Background of the problem about teaching learning process was not effective  and be a problem for the lecturer in computer subject at Universitas Terbuka Jakarta. Purpose of this research is to develop teaching media video tutorial to improve students’ understanding in material at early childhood education students programs of Universitas Terbuka Jakarta  academic year 2018/2019 and to know validity/practical teaching media video tutorial toward learning ability process. Furthermore, this research used research and development method. Population dan sampleof this research is early childhood education programs 8th semester students of Universitas Terbuka Jakarta academic year 2017/2018. Discerning learning media video tutorials are very helpful for students in the learning process.

The research was aimed to investigate the use of diary writing to overcome students’ problem in writing recount texts. The problems include writing a recount text in chronological order, writing correct verb changes and developing ideas. Classroom action research was conducted by applying diary as the technique to help students overcome their problem. There were two cycles conducted in this research. The data were taken from the students’ individual score, observation checklist, and field notes. The result showed that teaching writing through diary writing improved students’ writing recount text. Referring to the research findings, the data showed that diary writing improved students’ recount text, as seen in their score. These in terms of score, students’ improved from 71.96 to 76.03 and improving the motivation to the students which makes them eager to write also makes the teaching learning process better. In conclusions, students’ writing recount text of the tenth grade students of class IPS 1 of SMAN 4 Sungai Raya in academic year 2018/2019 improved by using diary.
