Introduction: based on the current regulatory framework, draft laws, research, and news in the field of economics and sociology, the paper presents the author’s periodization of the phenomenon of digitalization of personnel procedures. The examples of using the software products of each of the three generations are given. The conclusion is made about the negative consequences of total digitalization. The task is to identify the generations of digitalization of personnel procedures and evaluate the positive and negative features of this process. Methods: the methodological framework for the research is a combination of the following methods of scientific knowledge: comparative law method, the method of analysis and synthesis, the empirical methods (observation, experiment, measurement, comparison). Results: the author’s periodization of the process of digitalization of personnel procedures is proposed, some positive and negative features of this process are given. Conclusions: the software products of the first generation allow you to automatically fill in all the necessary personnel documents with the data of a specific employee. In the second generation, documents are created and “live” completely in electronic form without the need to print them on paper. During the transition to the third generation, individual personnel decisions are made without human participation.

This chapter analyzes how law and economics influences private law and how (new) private law is influencing law and economics. It focuses on three generation or “waves” within law and economics and how they approach private law. In the first generation, many scholars took the law as a starting point and attempted to use economic insights to explain, justify, or reform legal doctrines, institutions, and structures. In the second generation, the “law” at times became secondary, with more focus on theory and less focus on doctrines, institutions, and structures. But this generation also relied increasingly on empirical analysis. In the third generation, which includes scholars in the New Private Law (NPL), there has been a resurgence of interest in the law and legal institutions. To be sure, NPL scholars analyze the law using various approaches, with some more and some less predisposed to economic analysis. However, economic analysis will continue to be a major force on private law, including the New Private Law, for the foreseeable future. The chapter considers three foundational private law areas: property, contracts, and torts. For each area, it discusses the major ideas that economic analysis has contributed to private law, and surveys contributions of the NPL. The chapter also looks at the impact of law and economics on advanced private law areas, such as business associations, trusts and estates, and intellectual property.

AbstractIn Nova Scotia one leaf cluster with an adjoining 1 inch of twig taken from the inside of each of 10 apple trees replicated four times is an adequate sample unit to measure the density of the brown mite. The brown mite has one generation with a partial second in some orchards and one with a partial second and partial third in others. The first generation adults in the bivoltine and trivoltine populations lay summer eggs on the leaves and twigs, and diapause eggs on tin twigs. The second generation adults in the bivoltine populations lay only diapause eggs; in the trivoltine populations they lay both summer and diapause eggs. The adults of the third generation lay only diapause eggs. The brown mite is found on both the leaves and woody parts of the tree. In orchards with bivoltine populations the proportion of mites on leaves reached a peak of 80% by mid-July, but thereafter gradually decreased to 10% by the end of August. However, in orchards with trivoltine populations the proportion of mites on leaves reached a peak of 80 to 90% by mid-July, remained constant until mid-August, and thereafter decreased to approximately 40% by the end of August. The number of diapause eggs laid by adults of each generation in both the bivoltine and trivoltine populations varies widely. The eggs are deposited on the trunk as well as on the branches, with the heaviest deposition in the central area of the tree. The diapause eggs laid by adults of the first generation are the last to hatch and those laid by the third generation are the first to hatch the following spring. The factors responsible for the differences in the number of generations and in the number of diapause eggs laid are unknown.

AbstractAtProtagoras353de, Socrates gives three possible reasons for calling some pleasures ‘wrong’. Scholarly attention has focused on the second of these, according to which pleasures are ‘wrong’ when they have negative consequences. This paper argues that the first reason (the pleasures are fleeting) corresponds to beliefs held by Democritus, among others; and that the third reason (the pleasant things “give pleasure in whatever way and for whatever reason”) is the view adopted by Socrates in the dialogue.

The article is devoted to the study of localization of the lack of information on intangible assets in traditional financial statements and the analysis of possible ways to manage it. The methodological framework of the research includes methods of comparative, logical analysis, typology and grouping, induction and deduction. The research resulted in ways and means of disclosing the external manifestations of this type of information gap in the reporting and their negative consequences. It also analyses the options for filling in this gap, first of all, by means of the report on intangible assets that complements the structure and contents of traditional statements, and its comparison with the information requests of the company’s stakeholders. The conclusion about the need to revise the concept of preparing and disclosing information about the company’s intangible assets in the financial statements is substantiated. The research can be used in developing the concept of accounting for intangible assets, which can ensure that the gap between the content of financial statements and the information needs of users is bridged.

This paper examines Rosenzweig?s philosophic project in the context of his time as a critical intervention in the discussion of the place of Jewish thought in the university and in society. If Hermann Cohen represented the first generation of Jewish philosophers claiming that participation in the university is constitutive for the institution?s claim to universalism, the second generation-represented by Martin Buber - was more diffident about the university and its openness. For Buber, literary modernism offered what the university would refuse. Disappointed about the failure of the recognition of the efforts of the previous two generations, Rosenzweig represents the third generation. He turns the situation into a creative response anchoring philosophy as a project that calls for a resolute move outside the university.

Abstract The contribution deals with the Slovak and the EU legal regulation of tobacco and tobacco products. Its primary purpose is to point out the Slovak and European legal acts which constitute the main regulatory instruments in this field using the method of analysis and synthesis. Rules of production, distribution and conditions of use of tobacco and products thereof are in the Slovak Republic contained mainly in two acts - the Act No 335/2011 Coll. on Tobacco Products and the Act No 377/2004 Coll. on the Protection of Non-smokers, as well as in special Decree No 212/2012 Coll., regulating tobacco products. Regulation of excise duty on tobacco products can be found in the Act with the same name - Act No 106/2004 Coll.. Another objective of the paper is also to draw attention to the amendment of Act on Protection of Non-smokers which entered into force on 1 July 2013. The European Union struggles with the negative consequences of smoking at the supranacional level and its institutions - the European Commission, the European Parliament and the Council of the EU - are already for several years adopting legal acts to facilitate uniformity and easier interpretation of European law also in the field of legal regulation of tobacco and tobacco products. The predominant part of the existing legislation deals with the approximation of laws in areas that are closely related to the manufacture, presentation and sale of tobacco products, but also to the collection of taxes from these products.

Background The treatment of acromegaly resistant to first-generation somatostatin receptor ligands (SRLs) is often difficult. Pegvisomant and Pasireotide LAR are mostly used in these subset of patients, as second line therapies. Choice of the type of second line therapies is difficult, since predictors of response are still unclear, impairing personalized therapy. We aimed to investigate predictors of response to Pegvisomant and Pasireotide LAR. Methods Seventy-four acromegaly patients entered this observational, cross-sectional and retrospective study if (i) resistant to high dose first-generation SRLs and (ii) treated with Pegvisomant and Pasireotide LAR for at least 12 consecutive months. Patients treated with radiotherapy in the previous 10 years were excluded. Results Fourty-one patients were treated with Pegvisomant and 33 with Pasireotide LAR. At the end of the study, acromegaly was controlled in 35 patients treated with Pegvisomant (85.4%) and in 23 treated with Pasireotide LAR (69.7%). In this cohort, a poor Pegvisomant response and a shorter progression free time were observed in cases with tumor extension to the third ventricle (P = 0.004, HR: 1.6, 95%CI: 1.2–4.6), with a Ki67-Li >4% (P = 0.004, HR: 3.49, 95%CI: 1.4–4.0) and with pre-treatment IGF-I >3.3×ULN (P=0.03, HR: 1.3, 95%CI: 1.1–6.0). A poor Pasireotide LAR response and a shorter progression free time were observed in cases with tumor extension to the third ventricle (P=0.025, HR: 1.6 95%CI: 1.4–3.4), pre-treatment IGF-I >2.3×ULN (P=0.049, HR: 2.4, 95%CI: 1.4–8.0), absent/low SST5 membranous expression (P=0.023 HR: 4.56 95%CI: 1.3–6.4) and in patients carried the d3-delated GHR isoform (P=0.005, HR: 11.37, 95%CI: 1.3–20.0). Conclusion Molecular and clinical biomarkers can be useful in predicting the responsiveness to Pegvisomant and Pasireotide LAR.

With the rapid development of technologies, the third generation semiconductor is being studied, as it is leading to the significant change in industry like the manufacture of PC, mobile devices, lighting etc. Till now, due to its irreplaceable physical characteristics, third generation semiconductor is applied to lots of fields. This paper analyzes the application of third generation semiconductor, namely, GaN and SiC. Their characteristics including advantages as well as disadvantages will be discussed through reviewing the result of relevant researches. Meanwhile, comparison between the third generation semiconductors and the second as well as the first generation semiconductors is made in this paper. Through the comparison of physical characteristics, recent marketing, production and limitations, the advantages and disadvantages of each semiconductor is analyzed and the suggestion of how to avoid the disadvantage through application is proposed. At last, the future development is predicted. According to the analysis result of this paper, silicon poses more merits. Silicon is not only cheaper but also performs better making it a preference of GaAs, and GaN in the domain of IC. The second generation semiconductor, GaAs, is widely used in the circuits and photoelectric integration. Furthermore, the third semiconductor material GaN is a promising material for power switching and communication and has the great possibility to play a crucial role in market.

Cameraria ohridella Deschka et Dimic is a polyvoltine species which can complete under suitable conditions the development of as many as three generations a year. In the Czech Republic, however, the third generation suffers from high mortality due to the shortage of food and later also unfavourable weather. If the third generation is not completed the population continuity is ensured by diapausing pupae occurring in each generation. The number of diapausing pupae is determined by the actual abundance of the species and thus also by the actual damage to the horse chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum L.) foliage. Relationships of the parameters were investigated in the first generation of C. ohridella and their intensity was studied by methods of regression analysis.

AbstractThe pear rust mite, Epitrimerus pyri (Nal.), overwinters in a semi-active state in old leaf scar crevices and under bud chips of the leaf clusters. It becomes active within the bud in mid-April, as soon as the weather warms, and passes through three generations in the growing season as indicated by distinct peak egg populations observed in May, June, and July. The first generation eggs are laid within the swelling bud. The mites feed on the ventral surface of the leaves causing bronzing and on the calyx end of the fruit resulting in russeting of the epidermal tissue. Deutogynes of the third generation begin to enter hibernation by mid-August. Occasionally population levels reach economic injury level resulting in the downgrading of fruit.
