Abstract Screening tools in health and education provide quick indicators that anticipate diagnostic evaluation and treatment. Faced with the socio-emotional competences of children, the Ages & Stages Questionnaires: Social-Emotional (ASQ:SE) was used in the population of children enrolled in public pre-schools in the city of Rio de Janeiro during 2011. The objective of this work was to investigate aspects of its validity and reliability. Data from 23,334 children (50.6% boys) being an average age of 5 years old (SD: 3 months) and enrolled in 625 pre-schools were analyzed. After an intensive data analysis, the Exploratory and Confirmatory Factor Analysis, the results were favorable to the multidimensional model with a social and emotional dimension: χ2 (463) = 46363.495, p <0.001; RMSEA = 0.067; CFI = 0.918; TLI = 0.913. Reliability indicators were adequate. The results confirmed validity aspects of the ASQ:SE, thereby verifying its use for children aged 5 years old.

Educators and educational support staff are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of systematic efforts to support students’ social and emotional growth. Logically, the success of social-emotional learning programs depends upon the ability of educators to assess student’s ability to process and utilize social-emotional information and use data to guide programmatic revisions. Therefore, the purpose of the current examination was to provide evidence of the structural validity of the Social-Emotional Learning Scale (SELS), a freely available measure of social-emotional learning, within Grades 6 to 12. Students ( N = 289, 48% female, 43.35% male, 61% Caucasian) completed the SELS and the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire. Confirmatory factor analyses of the SELS failed to support a multidimensional factor structure identified in prior investigations. The results of an exploratory factor analysis suggest a reduced 16-item version of the SELS captures a unidimensional social-emotional construct. Furthermore, our results provide evidence of the internal consistency and concurrent validity of the reduced-length version of the instrument. Our discussion highlights the implications of the findings to social and emotional learning educational efforts and promoting evidence-based practice.

This study analyzes the effect of public service ads on the attitudes of students with cognitive dissonance (Cognitive Dissonance) as moderating in the city of Yogyakarta. This study took a sample of students in the city of Yogyakarta from Diploma to S3. Samples were distributed to 250 respondents, but only 223 were processed. The sampling method using a non-probability sampling approach was purposive sampling. Before the data analysis is performed first, the validity and reliability test is performed, in the validity test two approaches are used, namely using Pearson’s Coefficient Correlation and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). ILM3 and CD1 are invalid, the rest are valid, while the validity with CFA found three invalid statement items namely ILM2, CD1, CD2 and the rest are all valid. ILM reliability tests are all reliable above 0.6. This study uses multiple regression analysis with the help of the SPSS series 23 program, the results of multiple regression shows there is an influence of Public Service Advertising (PSA) on Student Attitudes (SK), while Cognitive Dissonance does not significantly affect the relationship between Public Service Adverts and Student Attitudes. For hypothesis testing only the first hypothesis is proven, the other hypotheses are not proven.

Introduction: The Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale – Revised (CESD-R) was developed to provide an efficient screening scale for depression syndrome, mimicking the original CESD, one of the most widely used screening tools to measure depressive symptoms globally. This investigation examined the factor structure of the CESD-R with a non-clinical Brazilian population. Method: We performed exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) of two adult samples, and also conducted invariance analysis by sex and place of residence of the participants. The full sample consisted of 1,427 adults, divided into two groups. The first sample (n = 400) was used for the EFA and the second sample (n = 1027) for the CFA. Results: The EFA indicated an internal structure composed of a single factor, which explained 53.2% of the variance. The CFA attested to the unidimensionality of the measure. Fit indices and reliability indicators showed values higher than expected, without modifications in the initial structure. The model was invariant in relation to the variables investigated at four different levels (configural, metric, scalar, and strict). Conclusions: Our findings support the utility of the CESD-R and suggest its validity for application to the Brazilian population in general.

This study aims to determine what factors are considered Muslim entrepreneurs in determining the business performance of a Muslimpreneur in the city of Batam. Techniques of collecting data using kuisoner, observation, and documentation. Test the research instrument by using the validity and reliability analysis. Data analysis method used in this research is descriptive analysis and confirmatory factor analaisis (CFA). The result of the research shows 4 variables forming the business performance of a Muslimpreneur namely Human Resources, Marketing, Finance, and Production. While the most dominant factor considered by employers in determining the performance of a muslimpreneur in Batam City is the production and human resources with the value of variance of 0.23% and 1.45%.

The aims of the study were to: (1) develop a set of instruments to measure the level of early childhood development (kindergarten group B), and (2) assess the quality of the developed instruments. This study is developmental research. The samples of the study were the students of kindergarten group B. The developed instrument was a set of questionnaires. Instrument testing was carried out in three stages with the number of subjects increased on each stage. The validity analysis of the questionnaire used confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). The reliability estimation of the questionnaire used composite reliability. The results of the study are in the form of instruments for measuring the level of early childhood development, which consists of an instrument to measure religious morality, social-emotional, language, cognitive, and physical-motor development. Based on field study, all instruments have a good fit model, construct validity, and reliability that meet the academic requirements of early childhood education.

In the present study, the aim is to adapt the scale developed by Merrell, Felver-Gant and Tom (2011) to evaluate Social-Emotional Competence of Children and Young People among 60-72 months old children. Data have been obtained 200 preschool children attending preschool institutions. In testing validity of the scale, expert opinions are taken regarding scope and appearance validity. To test the construct validity of the scale, exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis techniques were used. As a result of exploratory factor analysis, it has been observed that variance of all items in the scale is loaded on three factors that explain 81.15% of the variance. As a result of the confirmatory factor analysis it has been noticed that all coefficients demonstrating the relationship between variables and factors observed in the model showing the factorial structure of this scale are sufficient. Internal consistency coefficients for each dimension and among total items of the scale have been calculated. T-test is conducted on independent sample and sub-, upper-groups and a meaningful difference at .001 level was found. Consequently, findings relating to validity and reliability of Social and Emotional Competence Assessment Scale for 60-72 Months Children have showed that the scale is a valid and reliable measurement tool.

The purpose of the study is to develop a scale that will allow measuring the attitudes of customers towards purchasing tendency within the context of the business, marketing and sales officers' genders. Items were developed by the related literature, and content validity was determined through the opinions of 28 field experts. The participants of the study consist of 511 consumers who shopped at corporate or brand business stores that were selected through judgemental sampling method in the city centre of Niğde between 01-31 December 2019. As a result of the exploratory factor analysis conducted to ensure the construct validity of the scale, a four-factor structure consisting of 16 items was obtained. Cronbach alpha reliability coefficient for the whole scale was found as .894. Confirmatory factor analysis results, which were carried out to understand whether this structure fitted the sample data, showed that the fit index of the scale was at an acceptable level. Based on the findings of the study, it can be stated that the scale is valid and reliable, and that it can be used to analyse customers' attitudes towards purchasing tendency within the context of the genders of business, marketing and salespeople in corporate business (brand) stores.
